The Flavor of Sin
Chapter Nine
Naruto yawned loudly as he rolled onto his stomach, his chin resting on the arm of the large sofa. His teeth clacked with loud shutting of his mouth. Bored eyes gazed at the other.
Long bangs fell across Sasuke’s face as his hand stroked over the sketch pad. He looked to be completely entranced in whatever he was drawing. At least someone could occupy himself without going out.
Naruto groaned again before flopping onto his back. Maybe he could occupy himself with counting the speckles in the textured ceiling. One. Two. Three. Bored! Growling in frustration, he sent a dark look Sasuke’s way.
“If you are going to keep groaning and growling, go in another room.” Sasuke muttered, never looking up from his sketch.
“Well if you would entertain me, I wouldn’t be bored.” Naruto retorted, sticking out his tongue.
“Honestly, not every one wants to fuck all day, every day.”
“Hmph, shows what you know.”
“You are annoying, go away.”
“Make me…oh that’s right, you can’t catch me with that cast.”
“Idiot.”
“Cripple.”
Sasuke growled threateningly, his fingers on the pencil tensing. The snap of wood revealed the depths of his annoyance. “Be careful…this cast comes off in two weeks.”
“Like you could do anything to me.”
Sasuke chucked his sketch pad at Naruto, taking pleasure in the thud of it landing on his face. His pleasure was short lived as the other began flipping through the used pages. “Give it back.”
“Nu-uh, you threw it to me so it’s mine fair and square.”
“Give it back!” He paled as Naruto began flipping towards the more recent sketches.
“Hey! Is this me?” Naruto paused, sending a questioning look towards Sasuke. Throughout most of the book, Itachi featured a key role. Various sketches were of him doing everything from sitting, to reading a book, to just portraits of his face.
“What of it?” He scowled, fighting the blush beginning to spread across his pale cheeks.
“Wow…do I really look like this?” Naruto held up the picture. It was of Naruto sleeping, the covers were pooled around his hip, one resting up beside his cheek while the other rested on his chest. He looked almost sexy while still retaining the child like quality, making him almost irresistible.
“Yeah.” he grumbled, snatching back the pad.
“Sasuke…”
“What?”
“Can we please go out…for a little while. Maybe for like lunch. I’m bored.”
“Watch television.”
“There’s nothing on but game shows, reruns of Law & Order, and soap operas.”
“Are you telling me that out of one hundred and fifty channels, you can’t find one thing to watch to relieve your boredom?”
“Please…I’ll suck you off if we can go.”
Sasuke froze. The image was just so tantalizing. Naruto on his knees before him, his talented mouth sucking with the force of a vacuum. God it was a tempting offer…more than tempting. Now he knew what Eve must have felt when the snake told her to eat from the Tree of Good and Evil. He felt really perverted…really, really perverted. It would be so easy to take him up on the offer. He wouldn’t mind…hell he sucked him off regularly anyway.
No! He would not take advantage of him. He refused to do so. He was better than that…who was he kidding, the offer was so fucking tempting, it made him feel as if he’d never been given head in his life.
“Why do you need me to go with you?”
Naruto looked hurt. Sasuke immediately regretted asking that. The sight of the light dying from those eyes tore at his heart. Giving in to the other, he tossed his pad on the couch. “Fine. But I expect to be sucked off when we get home.”
“Whoo-hoo!” Naruto did a little dance before racing to the room he shared with Itachi to change, well technically all three shared the room but officially, it belonged to just those two.
Grumbling about big, sad blue eyes, Sasuke grabbed his crutches. Now that the pain in his leg was manageable, he was able to get around fairly well with the crutches. He still had to rest if he was on his feet for too long. Thankfully, the cast was coming off in less than two weeks. He could not wait. The itching was driving him insane.
“Hurry up, Sasuke!” Came a yell from the bedroom.
“Moron.” he muttered under his breath.
“What did you say?” Sasuke just rolled his eyes, calling a cab before going to his room to pull on clean clothes and brush his hair.
“Hurry, hurry, hurry.”
“Hold the fuck on, I’m coming.”
“Did you call a taxi?”
“Hn.”
“Is that a yes or a no?”
“It’s a stop rushing me or we will stay here.”
“Spoil sport.”
Sasuke rolled his eyes before grabbing his wallet. It was hard on Naruto staying inside. Itachi encouraged it but couldn’t force it. Naruto need room to spread his wings. He could only watch so many movies before he was nearly bouncing off the walls. The sex probably helped a little but in the end, they were forced to go on a jaunt. Thankfully, Naruto took into account Sasuke’s current handicap.
Smiling a little, he took his time. Hobbling slowly towards the door where one over anxious blond man was nearly bursting from his skin in excitement. For all his energy, he wouldn’t change one thing about Naruto. He brought life to both him and Itachi. He was day to their night. As corny as that thought might be, it didn’t stop it from being the truth.
Naruto locked up while Sasuke made his way to the elevator. The cab would be arriving shortly out front, if it wasn’t already there. “Where do you want to go?”
“How about the mall?”
“The mall?”
“Well, where would you like to go?”
Sasuke rolled his eyes. The mall was fine. There was a art supply store located on one of the floors. Hopefully Naruto would be calm enough so they could make it there. He supposed it was bad of him to slow down the hyperactive man. No, he wouldn’t think like that. Naruto was the one whining about him going. He could bloody well wait on him. “The mall is fine. I need some more pencils and paint anyway.”
“Let’s go!”
Sasuke smirked as Naruto ripped open the door of the taxi. His enthusiasm always amazed him. He had such a zest for life unlike any he’d ever met. Even their fighting blew new life into him.
“Parkside Mall.” The driver nodded and they were off.
Naruto bubbled over with excitement, talking about this and that. Even the taxi driver couldn’t help but smile at the joyous antics of his passenger. He was practically bouncing on his seat the closer to the mall they drove.
“Calm down, it’s just the mall.”
“Hmph, you would say that. You have stuff to keep you busy, locked inside the apartment all day. I can only take so much enclosure. I think I would have literally died if we hadn‘t gotten out today.”
“Moron.” laughed Sasuke, tossing the fare as well as a juicy tip to the driver.
“What should we do first?” asked Naruto.
Sasuke shook his head before adjusting his crutches. “You act like we are at the faire.”
The other stuck out his tongue. His eyes looked around the interior of the building. Only in the last six months had he dared entered such a place. The homeless were not welcome here in any sense. Stores found it distasteful to have shabby street people lounging near their establishments.
Such thoughts brought back unhappy memories. His eyes dulled a bit as his hand reached to stroke the scars on his cheek. Others might think ill of Orochimaru for dealing in the selling of flesh, but Naruto looked to him as a savior. His lot in life was much better now. He had three meals a day, warm clothes, a roof over his head, and two men he would do almost anything for. Just the thought of where he would be if he hadn’t met the pallid man on the street corner trickled through his mind. He’d seen the lot of ‘those’ people.
“Naruto? Are you alright?”
“Heh, yeah. Just thinking.”
“Don’t do it so hard. For a minute there I thought you might faint.”
“More like you were hoping I would faint so we could go home.”
“That too.”
“Come on, lets go get your paints so we can go into some fun stores.”
Sasuke made his way into the store. His was a familiar face, the owner looking shocked over his cast. “Mr. Uchiha, what happened?”
“Car accident. Is there anyway I can get what I purchase today shipped to my apartment? It’s been a while since I’ve been shopping and my list is considerable.” Sasuke leaned against the counter, using it to take some of his weight. He needed to conserve all his strength.
“For a good customer like you, anything.”
Sasuke began rattling off brands of paints, the colors he wanted. He also grabbed a couple of sketch pads, some charcoal pencils, and a few blank canvases of various sizes. The owner totaled up his bill, the amount making Naruto goggle eyed. He didn’t realize being an artist cost so much, saying so to Sasuke.
“Why do you think even crappy artists charge through the roof? It cost money to make art. Most can’t even live off it. If they are lucky, they break even with it. Only a select few, maybe ten out of a thousand can make a secular career out of it. Most traditional artists such as myself usually support themselves with other jobs. The demand for such pieces just isn’t there.” Sasuke signed the credit card slip before pocketing his wallet again.
“I guess it’s lucky you were born into the Uchiha family.”
“Hn.”
“Let’s go in Hot Topic…please.”
“Fine, I’ve done my shopping go wherever you like.” Sasuke watched the other race to the opposite wall where the goth style store sat in it’s tiny little box. The store was so tiny, Sasuke settled on a bench, not even wanting to try and navigate through the crowded establishment with a cast and crutches. It was one of his favorite stores after the art but even he wasn’t going to attempt to press his luck. He’d come back after the cast was off.
Thirty minutes later, he was about to stand up to pull his companion from the store when Naruto burst from the door, in his arms he clutched at least three bags bursting with clothes.
“Did you buy out the store?” Sasuke arched a brow at the bulging bags.
Naruto‘s face was flushed with pleasure. “Everything was so awesome. I tried on so many clothes.”
“I know, I was sitting here waiting for you.”
“Why didn’t you come in?”
“I didn’t want to be bothered with attempting to move through that tiny hole in the wall, with a cast and two crutches.”
“I’m sorry…I didn’t think about that.” Naruto deflated a little, causing Sasuke to wince.
“Don’t worry about it, you can play dress up for me once we get home.”
The other perked up at the thought. “I like that idea!”
The two wondered down the long lane of stores ranging from furnishings to clothes to toys. Although Sasuke needed to stop periodically to rest, it didn’t stop Naruto from enjoying being with the other. It felt almost like a date. Sasuke’s injuries had kept them from actually going out. Only Naruto’s insistence got them out on this day.
“Hey, umm, Sasuke?” Naruto fidgeted with his bags as they sat at one of the tables set up in the food court.
“What?”
“Thank you.”
“For what?”
“For coming out with me. Itachi gets so busy some times and it gets lonely at the apartment when he’s at work. I’m just glad I have you now.”
Sasuke was silent as he watched Naruto sip on his soda. He still had trouble coming to understanding with their…arrangement. There were times he wasn’t sure what Itachi was thinking. His brother liked to sit…to watch the two of them together. His participation was usually minimal until Naruto urged or pleaded with him to join in.
It bothered Sasuke a lot. Why was Itachi holding back? Did he not want to join in? Had he grown tired of the idea? The thoughts set him in a foul mood. Naruto, sensing that mood, blinked innocently at him.
“What’s the matter Sasuke? Are you tired?”
Exhaling slowly, he sipped his water. “A little but I know there are a few places you want to go to. I was just thinking. I’m fine now.”
“And you fuss at me for thinking too much. We can go home if you want.”
“I’m fine, Naruto. Let’s finish your shopping.”
“Ok!”
The two made their way slowly through the crowded mall. The amount of people increased as schools were let out. While this was no problem for Naruto, Sasuke had a bit of trouble navigating the numerous people. A particularly rough shove sent him to the ground, jarring his leg. Pain shot up his leg bring a cry to lips.
Naruto rushed to his side immediately. “Hey watch out, you idiots!”
Three faces turned to see Naruto kneeling beside Sasuke. They stared long and hard for several moments before one of them spoke. “Hey Mikey, isn’t that the little homeless brat we cut up a few years ago?”
Naruto paled visibly. He would never forget those faces. They’d aged a bit, lost some of the remaining baby fat from their cheeks but despite that, they retained the same malicious look of before. He still remembered the pain in his cheeks as two of them held him down while the other…Mikey, cut his cheeks.
“You know what, Pete? I think it is.” Thin lips parted to reveal a wide grin of white, overlarge teeth.
“You…You shouldn’t push other people around. You could have hurt, Sasuke.” Naruto helped Sasuke to his feet, the urge to run potent.
“We can do anything we want.” growled Mikey.
“Says who?” Sasuke interjected, his own anger roused.
“You stay out of this cripple or we’ll break your other leg.” This came from Pete, freckles on his face standing out sharply on his pale skin.
“Sasuke, lets just go.” whispered Naruto, his voice trembling in fear for what they would do to them.
“That your boyfriend, street trash?” asked Pete.
“I always knew he was a queer.” commented the third, still unnamed.
“What if I am?” Sasuke growled, now shoving Naruto behind him.
“See…we don’t like queers. We marked up that one nice and pretty. Now we are going do the same to you.”
“Sasuke…”
“Give it your best shot. Though from the looks of it, you shouldn‘t dismiss homosexuality. You have a nice little threesome going.” smirked Sasuke.
“You’re dead, cripple.” yelled Pete, charging Sasuke with his fist swinging.
The younger Uchiha raised one of his crutches, slamming the metal into the solar plexus of the charging man. A loud grunt was heard before he collapsed to the ground, groaning and panting. “Who’s next?”
Naruto stared wide eyed at the other. Did Sasuke just incapacitate that thug with a swing of his crutch? How did he move so fast? “Sasuke…”
“Just stay back, Naruto.”
“Let’s just go before it gets worse.”
“Oh you aren’t going anywhere.” growled Mikey.
The apparent leader reached into his pocket, producing a switchblade. The knife snapped as it was extended. Naruto swayed on his feet. It was the same knife that had cut the ‘whiskers’ on his face. His body started quaking at the memory. He recalled his screams. The pain radiating all over his face. His eyes suddenly developed tunnel vision as his sight narrowed on the flashing weapon.
Tears pooled in Naruto’s eyes as he took a step backward. Sasuke would get injured again. He would be hurt and there was nothing he could do to help him. His body was frozen in fear.
“Hn. You talk big. Come on and you’ll join your friend here eating dirt.” Sasuke’s eyes narrowed as he watched every move.
“Police!”
The cry came from Pete as he struggled to his feet. Mikey seemed to want to continue but the pull of his two friends was more than he could handle. He growled, hate in his eyes for both Naruto and Sasuke. “I’ll see you again.”
Sasuke slumped to the ground, his hands shaking. Naruto was beside him in an instant as the Mall security came up to them. Naruto burst into tears. He’d been so scared. The thoughts of what they might do to the both of them froze him. He was ashamed that Sasuke had to protect him.
“Naruto…I think I’m ready to go home now.” sighed Sasuke, the adrenalin from the confrontation leaving him feeling drained not to mention his leg was throbbing something fierce.
“Sasuke are you alright?” Naruto whispered, tears still falling.
“Yeah, just a bit banged up from the fall.”
Mall security assisted the two to the front, calling a taxi for them. The drive home was silent. Where earlier Naruto had nearly bounced through the roof of the car, now he sat quietly. His eyes darted to every street corner the taxi stopped at, afraid that the three thugs were there waiting for them.
Once both were in the apartment, Sasuke downed one of the remaining pain pills before sitting beside Naruto. The other curled into him almost instantly. His face nuzzled deep into his neck while his fingers clenched his shirt.
“Naruto?”
“Don’t tell him.”
“Who?” he asked though he had a sneaking suspicion who.
“Don’t tell ‘Tachi about today. I don’t want him to worry.”
“Fuck Naruto, you are jumping at your own shadow. He’s going to know something is wrong with you. Hell, I probably won’t even be able to get out of bed tomorrow and I’m sure where my back hit that bench will bruise. He’s going to know something is up.” Sasuke tried to reason.
“Please…I…just please. He’ll go on a rampage. He might get hurt and with this person out to get him…just…please don’t tell him.” Naruto’s watery eyes gazed into Sasuke’s, the pleading from his eyes matching the words coming from his mouth.
“Fine…but if he figures it out, I’m telling him everything.”
“Thank you.” Naruto wiped away the tears before laying his head once more on Sasuke’s chest.
Sasuke didn’t know when in Naruto’s past he’d met those three dick wads but he was determined to find out. No one would hurt Naruto and get away with it. He would simply bide his time until Naruto was ready to talk. Then he and Itachi would go beat the ever loving shit out of all three of those men.
For the next hour, the two sat quietly on the sofa. The door opening and shutting signaled Itachi’s arrival. Sasuke opened his eyes to see Naruto laying limply on him, a small bit of drool dribbling onto his shirt.
“Sasuke?”
“Can you help me. We…went to the mall for him to blow off some steam. He’s exhausted.” Itachi stared several minutes at Sasuke before moving to do as he asked.
Naruto mumbled before blinking open his eyes. “Mmm…’Tachi.”
Sasuke watched Itachi carry the limp Naruto into their room. For a long moment he stared before sighing. Itachi knew something was up. He would weasel it out of them eventually. Groaning, he thumped his head on the sofa with a groan. It would not be a pleasant experience when Itachi found out. Not pleasant at all.
To be continued.
