This takes place when Sasuke leaves Konoha village and joins forces with Orochimaru. Also minor AUism for the "lover's quarrel" as they are not a "couple" per say except in the dirty minds of fans of that inclining.
Summary: How could Sasuke dare to show himself after the fiasco that he had pulled when he left them all behind? Naruto finds out.

Naruto was cursing loudly as he raged. He had gone to practice by himself in a small clearing, his body tense and flexing as he struck out at a harmless tree with all of his might.
Deep in the trunk of the tree he had carved a rude imitation of Sasuke's face and was currently preoccupied with getting all of his anger and frustration out on the cheap imitation of the other boy. He had already taken some time and slashed the face multiple times as he bared his fangs and charged the bending trunk to strike it again with a slashing movement, his kunai digging deep in the left cheek and cutting up and right across the bridge of the noise and into the forehead.
He stepped back and panted, rubbing at his eyes with the sleeve of his orange jacket. Why was he crying? This boy meant nothing to him anymore. Maybe once upon a time he would have been appalled by his current behavior, but at the moment he relished watching the face of the other one being cut open so deep.

Unnoticed, Sasuke stood in a nearby tree, arms crossed in a haughty, superior fashion across his chest. He watched the oblivious form of his one-time lover with a smirk, enjoying the display of outright anger and deep betrayal that crossed Naruto’s face, turning it into that of the demon fox with every angry motion.
Sasuke watched the anger with calculating eyes, but noticed the frustrated and pain filled tears more. He blinked back his surprise, then smirked as he realized not only was Naruto angrily cursing his name, but he was crying over the loss of his beloved "lover".
It was his own fault. If he hadn’t been so self righteous maybe Naruto would have blindly followed him. But if Naruto had done that, maybe Sasuke wouldn’t have been the “favorite” of his new master Orochimaru.
He crouched in the branch and silently dropped to the grass covered ground between the massive roots of the tree he had been hiding in. Slowly he moved through the shadows, keeping Naruto within eye sight until he was sure he had a possible escape route should things turn worse than he imagined they would.
He moved forward so that he was noticeable and cleared his throat loudly.

Naruto spun around at the sound of an intruder. He cursed himself internally for not keeping track of his surroundings as his eyes scanned the brush and trees first before he noticed the shadow of someone to his right in his peripheral vision.
He turned and nearly charged when he realized exactly who it was standing there, looking as if he'd just had his cake and ate it too. He backed up and gave them some distance, readying himself to attack Sasuke, the very one who's image he had just spent almost an hour shredding.
Sasuke ignored him and walked over to the carved tree, his fingers running around the peeled bark that had once been the outline of his face. He looked over the remains of eyes and a mouth, both slashed roughly. His cheeks had slashes and deep cuts and his skin burned as if they had been in his flesh instead of the wood of the tree.
//Everyone is changing
There's noone left that's real

"What the hell are you doing back here?" Naruto demanded angrily. He could hear his blood pounding in his ears, and he wanted to just attack, but Sasuke would notice even the slightest movement. He decided to risk it anyway, his hand sliding down his side to his hip.
Sasuke's eyes became slits as it registered just what it was Naruto was planning on doing. He shook his head and moved faster, grabbing one of his own kunai and throwing it, knocking the throwing knife from Naruto’s fingers and making it drop to the ground beside the fox boy. Naruto looked at it and ducked to the ground to grab it, but three shuriken soon followed the kunai and slashed at his hand when he reached out. He pulled his hand back and jumped away, glaring back at Sasuke demandingly.
Sasuke stood still, watching Naruto’s movements for a moment, the sun glinting on his new Hidden Sound forehead protector.
“Do you honestly want to know Naruto?” he asked in a low voice. He looked back to the slashed image on the tree for a moment, then returned his cold red gaze to Naruto.

Naruto returned the heated stare, his hand clenching and unclenching as he tried to keep a cool head. He had to think this one out. He couldn’t just blindly run around and hope it’d all be ok anymore. Sasuke was dangerous, and every move he made was important. Nothing could be wasted.
“Aa. I want to know why a traitor like you came back here to Konoha. You don’t belong here.”
Sasuke grinned, then laughed at him. “You’re stalling me. But I’ll answer you anyway.” he stopped laughing and grinned evilly at him. “I’m here for you, Nine-tails.”

Naruto gaped at him. “What?! You can’t possibly mean you’re here for me!”
“But I am. And not because he wants me to either. I’m doing it for me.” Sasuke said.
Naruto shivered unpleasantly at the words. He took a step back and once more reached for his hip pouch.
“Will you stop it?! You’re acting like you did the first time we fucked. You were always shoving me and fighting me. The only time you were obedient to me was when we did that little bit of knife play. Well, and when Kakashi almost walked in on us.” he said with a self satisfied smirk.
Naruto dropped his hand from his hip. “What do you want from me?”

Sasuke looked at him. “You’re just hoping for me to say ‘I want to fuck you Naruto, right here, right now.’ aren’t you?” he asked suspiciously.
Naruto looked up at him with an angry snarl. “Never!”
Sasuke laughed. “Oh my god you think I still want to be with you, don’t you?! How simple minded! I’m not here for your body. At least...” he chuckled darkly. “At least not like that.”

Naruto went into a guard stance, waiting. He watched Sasuke who merely shook his head at him.
“You’re no threat Naruto. I could have you anytime I want.” He said as he approached him. He stopped when they were a foot apart, and raised his hand to trace Naruto’s cheek with one fingertip. Naruto merely stood his ground rebelliously, growling and snapping at the finger when it came to close to his mouth.
Sasuke glared at him and slapped him hard across his cheek. “Stop trying to go against me Naruto. You are no match.” he said. Naruto turned back to him and struck out, punching him hard in the gut. Sasuke coughed as he lost his wind, but regained his senses as Naruto fled back to Konoha.

Sasuke blinked at the retreating form, holding his stomach and muttering a curse. He turned his head to the side and spat, blood splattering the ground before he turned his back on Konoha and retreated.
