Disclaimer:
I do not own the anime Naruto, nor any of the characters from it. I do not make any money from the writing of this story.
Old Blood
Author: Princess Golux
Series: Legacy
Fandom: Naruto/Hikaru no Go X-over
Type: Seriously AU. I'll be dipping in and using and abusing canon as I see fit. Don't like it, don't read it.
A/N: This is a wierd idea that's been running through my head. I don't know how much of it I'll end up writing, but anything I write I'll post. I've been away from the writing thing for a while, so some of this may be kinda rough.
Oh - and I do know that -kage is not an actual Japanese honorific like san or kun...I just like using it that way in this wacky, made-up world of mine.
DISCLAIMER: I do not own Naruto or Hikaru no Go. They are owned respectively by Yumi Hotta and Mashashi Kishimoto. I am making no money off of this. Heck, I barely make money off my real jobs. Please don't sue me.
Old Blood
One
Ordinarily, Shiranui Genma loved the spring scent of apples. Underlying it today, however, was a familiar, cloying stink, made even stronger by the fact that they seemed to be getting closer and closer to the source. He tilted his head up and sniffed twice; the bitter iron tang made his eyes narrow as he touched down lightly on the branch of a tree.
Hatake Kakashi landed soundlessly one tree to his right.
“Blood.” Genma said.
Kakashi scented the air like one of his nin-dogs. His face tautened and he pushed off the branch with force and weight, propelling himself forward at an almost inhuman pace.
When they touched down in front of the tall dark oaken gates that guarded the main entrance to Uchiha Village, Kakashi’s one visible eye was flat and hard. They’d encountered no scouts, no guards of any kind. And the smell of clotting blood and ripening bodies was almost overwhelming.
It was still not enough to prepare them for what lay beyond the gate.
Genma and Kakashi stared at the trail of corpses littering the main street that led into Uchiha Village. Exchanging one grim glance they began to slowly make their way through the ruined town. As Special Jounin, and more importantly, as Royal Kage bound to protect the King, each had fought, maimed, killed more than his share of opponents. But neither could disguise the sick horror evoked by the gratuitous slaughter of what seemed to be every man, woman, and child in Uchiha.
The sheer magnitude of the carnage was incredible. Every street they could see was strewn with corpses - sagging out of doorways, crumpled in gutters, hanging out of windows. The air was foul, thick with flies and the heavy scent of blood and waste and death.
This was supposed to be a joyous occasion. Uchiha Itachi, the oldest child of the clan, had been chosen to become the Kage for the crown prince. The young man was an amazing fighter, an exceptional ninja, and although Prince Akira was still young, the age difference was not that great. Two of King Touya’s personal Kage had come from the City to present the prodigy with the royal commission, the highest honor a shinobi clan could receive.
They had come expecting a celebration.
They had stumbled upon a massacre.
