Might Be Lost

Chapter one


A twig snapped under Naruto's foot as he seped through the bushes that he had seperated. He could have sworn that they had passed that apple tree before. But then again, he was pretty tired. They had been given a mission to retrieve and escort a man from a nearby village ato Konoha. It had been some time ago before they had left. Kakashi had gone on ahead of them for some strange reasons of his own, leaving the rest of team 7 alone. Naruto saw Sasuke step up beside him in the corner of his eye. In the other corner he saw Sakura flop down onto a sone. They were exhausted. Naruto sighed and sat down at the bottom of a tree, leaning against its trunk. Sasuke just stood there looking at them both with an annoyed look on his face. Naruto had no clue where the hell they were. But he wasn't about to admit that, especially not to Sasuke. After they had rested a bit more, Naruto stood back and started to lead the way again. Sakura walked up beside him.


"Naruto, are you sure you know where we're going this time. I mean after last time you lead us on our last mission, I don't really trust our navigational skills." she whispered in his ear.


"Yes of course i know where we're going." he growled.


They walked on in silence for another monent longer. Then Sakura broke the silence. "Um, guys I have to use the bathroom." she said blushing.


"That's all right, Sakura. You go ahead. We'll keep on going and you can catch up with us later. Hopefully by then we'll be in the village by then." Naruto said. Sasuke just answered with his usuall, "Hn"


"Thanks you guys." Sakura said before rinning off in the other direction.


"Come on Sasuke let's keep going. I want to get there before it get's too late." Naruto said cheerfully. Sasuke followed behind naruto as he hopped along. He noticed that something was a little bit different with his tonight. They kept walking straight for a little while longer, before Naruto veered off the path that they had been fallowing. Sasuke noticed this movement.


"Shouldn't we stay on that path so Sakura will be able to catch up with us later?" he asked. Naruto nodded and kept walking in the direction they had just taken.


"No, she'll be able to keep up with us just fine. You'll see she'll be back before you know it." Naruto said gloomly. He dragged his feet along the ground as he walked. Something is definatley up, Sasuke knew it.


Back where Sakura had left them, she was finished with her business. She loked around for a moment, before following the path they had been walking on. She noticed that along the way, her teammates footprints disapeared. Now she was lost.


"Great, thanks alot guys. Now where the hell did you go and where the heck and how am I supposed to find you guys?" she cried in anger. She turned in the opposite direction in which the others ha taken and went from there.


Naruto turned to the left again and kept walking. Sasuke followed behind him silently. He was having a faint idea that they were lost and that Naruto was a stupid idiot.


They passed the same bush that Naruto had parted earlier and came to the very same exact tree that hey had rested at only moments before. Naruto gave out a disgruntled grunt, before he realized that he realized that they were completely and utterly lost. He sighed before he opened his mouth to tell Sasuke.


"Um, Sasuke, I think we're lost." he said.


"No shit sherlock. What did you think we were, dancing on a rooftop? Dobe." Sasuke said. Naruto growled and shouted.


"You son of a Bitch. Shut your fucking mouth!" he lunged forward, aiming a punch at Sasukes head. Sasuke ducked instantly and grabbed onto Narutos arm, twisting it behind his back and kicking him from behind onto the ground. He smirked at Narutos feeble attempts to kick his ass.


"Bastard." Naruto said, crossing his legs and arms, sighing. Sasuke just stared at him. He really was acting strange tonight. He looked up at the sky and noticed that there was a full moon.


'Maybe that's why he's acting so wierd. After all they do say that some people go crazy on the night of the full moon.' he thought. He lowered his gaze back at Naruto, who just so happened to be staring at Sasukes lean body.


"And just what do you think you're looking at?" he asked the blonde dobe.


"Huh, oh nothing." Naruto said, shaking his head and turning to the side to hide his blush. Yep he was definatley strange tonight. Sasuke decided that they would have to find a place to camp for the night. What's the use of trying to find a village if you can't even see two feet in front of you? Plus they were two teemates too short. He looked around and spotted the entrance to a cave nearby. He looked at Naruto again.


"Come on dobe, there's a cave over there. We can spend the night there and hopefully Sakura will find us. Then we can continue our mission in the morning." he told Narto, he grabbed his arm and lifted him off the ground.


"Let go of me you bastard." Naruto said, ripping his arm out of Sasukes grip. He followed Sasuke over to the cave. It wasn't that bad. A little bit of space, some rock here, a little hay there, all in all not bad.


"Go get us some firewood dobe. Then we can light a fire." Sasuke ordered. Naruto growled but went to gather wood. When he had gathered a good amount of wood, Naruto returned to the cave. Sasuke had already placed stoned in a circle and pulled out the matches.


"Put them in the pit dobe and light the fire." Sasuke said as he turned and reached into his pack. Grumbling, naruto started a fire. Sasuke pulled out a blanket from his pack and a small sack of food. Naruto turned to his own pack and did the same. Soon they were warm and eating what foof they had brought long. For once since the time Sasuke had met him, Naruto didn't talk at all.


'Something is definatley up, but what is it?'


"I think I'm going to go to sleep. You take first watch." Naruto said. Before Sasuke could argue, Naruto was already lying on his side, facing the opposite diretion. Sasuke clenched his fist.


'Why that little.....' He was thinking, before he heard a twig snap outside the cave entrance. He pulled a kunai from his bag and went to check it out. It was only a rabbit, he watched as it ran away. He returned to the warmth of the fire. He stared into the flames, thinking of the days events. 'when we had been given this mission it was only to take a day or two, yet it's going to take more than that, thanks to narutos perfect sense of direction. Sasuke grunted. If it weren't for that little shortcut they took, they'd be in the village by now and probably heading home. But no, Naruto insisted that we go his way. stupid dobe.' He stared into the flames a little longer. Then he decided it would be best to gaurd the cave from the outside. He stood up and with one more glance at Naruto and thinking about what was wrong with him, he left to go sit at the entrance. Naruto just snored loudly, itched his stomach, and rolled over.
