Paranoia

Primary disclaimer: I do NOT own the Naruto-verse, its’ characters or clans, I merely utilize them for my own (and hopefully your) entertainment. I have precious little money to take, and I am making none on this endeavor anyways, so it’s not worth your time to sue me.
Secondary disclaimer: This story contains scenes of graphic violence, suggestive and sexual situations and severely dark themes. You have been warned.
Superfluous disclaimer: I wrote this story because it was in my head and I couldn’t not write it. Be aware, also, that this was written for my own enjoyment, so if you do not enjoy what you read, constructive criticism is always welcome but reviews such as “you suck” will be ignored. (Also: I’m rubber and you’re glue…so nya.)
So without further ado…

-Paranoia-
(1)
Everyone reaches a point in their life when they are left shivering and alone in the darkness. For Hinata that time came a few months after her twentieth birthday.
Someone who had known her so many years ago when she was a genin would barely recognize the strong, confident woman before him, yet there she was. She led a squad of prestigious AnBu, not the least notable of who was her older cousin. How she had loved the look on his face when he was told he’d be put under her direction. Priceless.
She had beauty as well; it was as if the only thing that had held her back had been her lack of self worth. She never asked for attention, but she never need to either. All the boys in the village seemed to be smitten with her, but, as always, she would turn them down. She would smile and apologize, “sorry,” she always said, “But I am waiting for someone.” And she was so sweet in it that none could bear her any grudge.
And that someone, as you may have guessed, was Naruto; Sweet, innocent Naruto; Naruto who still reduced her to a blushing, stuttering child. No more, she told herself, no longer. Today was the day.
She cornered him at home shortly after his most recent mission in the early evening. In his kitchen she confessed her feelings over a cup of tea, and they sat silent, contemplating for too long. Hinata, thoroughly embarrassed now, stood to leave but he stopped her at the door, eyes pleading. Waiting for no further invitation she embraced him, lips pressing hungrily against his. He never once told her to stop.
She woke wrapped in warmth and for a moment she forgot where she was then the night’s events rushed back to her and she blushed. She grinned and snuggled deeper into Naruto’s embrace. He groaned and turned over then, with a start, he woke.
He looked around sleepily for a second and his eyes lighted on her. She expected him to smile, or say good morning, or something, but he just looked away.
“Hinata I…” he started then stopped. He looked at her for a second then quickly away. “It was a mistake. I don’t…I mean, I love Sakura. I always have. I’m sorry.” He stood then, unselfconsciously nude, and walked to the bathroom, locking the door behind him.
Hinata lay shivering and alone in a strange bed as the shower ran in the bathroom and her world crumbled to dust.
