I do not own Naruto, nor any of the characters from it. I do not make any money from the writing of this story.
Love you, Gaki, Hate me, Gaki
AN:// This is a one-shot fic, one of the very few that I have pained myself to write. You won't get them off me very much, as I spend alot of my time with work and roleplaying (as well as the additional browsing on y!gallery, like most people I know XD) But do enjoy.
WARNING: This may be rather gross. If you don't like it, don't read it. If you don't like it after reading it for a good reason, not OMG EWW WHY DID YOU DO THAT?, then I will actually pay attention to your review.
I have spoken to a few people, and they say that Sasori is perfectly in character. If you think about it, I've tried and he almost is.
Anyway, on with the fic.
~~
Sir Leader sent us out on the mission. It was supposedly not hard – B-Rank, by his standards. Kill the henchmen, kill the guards, kill the guy.
The ‘guy’ was known as Tomoshi, and Leader-sama only wanted rid of him because he hadn’t paid back a few debts and such, and it didn’t seem to want to any time soon, if not ever.
Deidara was just being a complete brat, as usual. It was giving me a headache, of some sort, and he refused to shut up, despite every time I yelled it at him. He continued babbling on about his most recent visit to the dango stall in Sunagakure, and how he wanted to go back there to have more of the lovely sweet stuff. I just have to bear it until we get to a rest stop.
When we finally do, Deidara has long gone silent, using the mouths on his hands to mould another clay something. We check into our inn, and Deidara zooms straight to our room. I trudge after him, and I tilt my head, surprised at the well-furbished room. Usually Leader reserves a dingy room for us, but he seemed to be in a good mood. Perhaps Itachi had returned to him.
Abandonning that thought, I sit on the side of the bed that I have claimed as mine, watching Deidara work. He has his tongue sticking out of one corner of his mouth, and his hands are making sloppy noises.
I smile, leaning on my hand. I close my eyes, listening to the rhythmic noises, and then suddenly it goes quiet and I hear Deidara shifting. I open one eye, and I see Deidara frowning at me.
“Danna, you’ve done nothing but yell at me all day, un.”
“It’s difficult not to.” I sigh as he scowls, folding his arms. We stay in silence for a moment, and then he undresses, getting into the bed with his back to me. I frown at him, and then turn my back to him.
We departed the morning after, in complete silence. He seemed to be really stroppy with me, so I didn’t say anything. When we got to Tomoshi’s house (mansion, really) we split up, Deidara taking the left and me taking the right. I broke out of my shell, attacking each guard singularly with poisoned darts and needles. I could heard Deidara’s weapons screeching or exploding, and cries of panic as more went over to that area. I didn’t panic, knowing Deidara could take care of himself.
Around an hour later, I was wiping blood off my torso with the inside of my cloak. Mission completed - now, it was just to find Deidara.
I did find him, eventually. Lying on the ground, covered in blood, partially his own. His breathing was heavy and laboured, and he was leaking chakra.
“Danna…” He wheezed out. I ran towards him, skidding on my knees to cradle him. I looked down at his face in disbelief. He was leaking chakra, and losing too much blood from too many wounds.
“Danna…” He lifted his arm, pointing feebly at the sky. “Danna, look. I can see birds in the clouds.” I looked up, and ravens were circling, and the clouds were shaped like birds.
I rested my forehead against his, and heaved dry sobs. I should have cried, but my puppet self wouldn’t allow it.
Then there was the idea. I could make him live forever.
I hauled him onto my shoulder, and bolted back to HQ, as he slowly lost life.
It was dead night by the time I got back, and Deidara was too weak. I pumped some chakra into him, and his eyes flew open with a groan.
“Danna, it hurts…”
“Don’t worry, Deidara, after this, you won’t hurt any more.” I strapped on the restraints so that he wouldn’t move, and got out my tools. I sliced through the skin in his shoulders first, and he started whimpering. He was crying as I cut through his elbows, and screaming as I pulled away the skin.
“What are you doing, danna?!” He sobbed, his eye wide and streaming.
“…I’m making you immortal, Deidara. Stop squirming.” I sigh as he continues to scream, but I encase his arm in wood any way, wrapping the skin over it and searing it together. I started the process on his hands, leaving the forearms until last. If I wanted him to remain partially alive, I’d have to wait to do that.
I worked late on into the night, listening to Deidara’s screams and only shushing him.
The day after, I found Deidara’s untidy scrawl on a piece of paper.
“I hate you.” The words rang through my ears, and I barely realized that he had said anything until I heard Deidara collapse behind me.
“I couldn’t love you more, gaki.”
