I do not own Naruto, nor any of the characters from it. I do not make any money from the writing of this story.
A Kiss in the Dream House
Whoo. My first fic...This story will generally be centered around Lee and Hinata, but I'll probably add a few more pairs in here and there--along with the concept of my own character: Eien Ryuu.
I do not own Naruto. I never ever will.
~Prologue~
By the time she had turned fifteen, Hyuuga Hinata had made four attempts at passing the Chuunin exams. And she had finally passed, if only by the skin of her teeth, just a few weeks ago. Her cousin, Neji, was already an elite ninja, as was the rest of his team; but, of course, he was the genius and such accomplishments were expected of him. Hinata could only hang her head sadly as she watched all the other shinobi in her class surpass her left, right, and center. How was she to combat her own weakness? To which way did her answers lie? The answer that she was seeking was an active, palpable force awaiting her in training ground number seventeen: the area where Neji and his teammates had planned to train one afternoon.
::Training Ground # 17::
It was a warm, sultry day with a slight moisture weighing down the atmosphere. Hinata had decided to watch her cousin train with his teammates, to gain some poerspective of how true power could be used. The elder Hyuuga was sparring with a boy not much older than him. The match had been going on for about an hour now. The boy's eyebrows were outrageous and bushy. Hinata was amazed at how they could have grown to such a heavyness. She took a moment to try and remember his name...Something Rock? Lee? That was it. Yes, she'd heard that the boy couldn't use chakra, limiting him to the utilization of Taijutsu. He had pushed himself into back-breaking work and transformed his weakness into the greatest strength imaginable.
Narrowly dodging a blow to the neck, Lee crouched down and elbowed his opponent in the ribs. The opaque-eyed Hyuuga quickly regained his composure and aimed a crescent kick to Lee's face.
Hinata held her breath as the Taijutsu master crumpled and fell backward. Blood exploded from the impact like a geiser.
Lee cracked his neck, facing Neji with a mischievious smile on his face. There was blood slithering down from his nostrils. He had grown accustomed to it, a violent euphoria of the pain and the immense pleasure it brought him only compelled Lee to fight harder. There was something erotic about blood with him. It felt good to have someone hit him.
Hinata begged to differ...She had to surpress an overwhelming urge to vomit. But she forced herself to remember that this was something every shinobi experienced...
Gathering his composure, Lee aimed a forceful backfist to his opponent's face, only to have it returned full force; a chop to the neck with Neji's Jyuuken was a pain within a pain. Black, kick, punch, chop...That went on for a few more minutes before Neji focused his remaining bit of chakra into a blow to Lee's kidney. The Bushy-brows fell backward onto the ground.
"Kuso...!" He growled. Neji drew himself up, arms akimbo.
"Have you had enough?"
Hinata's hands were trembling; she didn't want Lee to lose.
He was snickering...this felt so *good*!
"Well?"
The Taijutsu master raised his chin, staring at Neji with his heavy-browed eyes. "...Do I *look* like I've had enough?"
Gingerly, he brought himself to his feet, still bleeding profusely from the mouth and nose. Hinata saw herself as she fought against Neji three years ago. But this was Lee--he fought with him everyday. And then some.
The battered man struck the classic fighting pose: left arm bent at a ninety-degree angle, right arm curled behind his back, standing stock still. Gai had taught him well. A confident smile graced Lee's lips as he awaited Neji's next assault. But before the either of them could through a punch, an exhausted, but jovial Maito Gai interrupted them, appeared between them in a puff of smoke.
"Ah, the exuberance of YOUTH! Very nice work today, you two." He then diverted his attention to his beloved student. "You'd better tend to those wounds, Lee."
He nodded. "Hai, Gai-sensei." Leee decided to change the subject. "You weren't sparring with Ryuu-chan today?" Gai shook his head.
"Iie; he spent the afternoon with TenTen, reviewing basic Medic-nin drills." That was bull. Lee knew that his best friend had no interest whatsoever in learning anything unless it brought someone pain.
"Very well, then. If I'm not back with the both of them in ten minutes, I will run six-hundred laps around Konoha!" Lee declared, raising his fist in the air.
"That's my Lee..." Sniffed Gai-sensei. He then transferred his attention to his opaque-eyed student.
Wiping the blood on a nearby towel, Lee strolled through the training grounds in search of his teammates. Hinata felt compelled to chase after the Taijutsu master, worrying about how much blood he lost and if Lee would collapse, then...No, she couldn't let that happen! Giving Neji a quick bow, Hinata sprinted off to reach her injured companion, of whom was drawing an iPod out of a pocket on his Chuunin vest and inserting the headphones into his ears...
//He's walking like a small child
But watch his eyes burn you away
Black holes in his golden stare
God knows he wants to go home
Children of The Damned//
"...-ee-san?" Lee removed the headphones. He noticed the radiant lady beside him and gave her a jovial smile.
"Hm? Hello, Hinata-san! What can I do for you?"
Hinata couldn't bring herself to look into his eyes. Instead, she played with her fingers and spoke to the ground.
"I, um...You...You did really w-well, L-Lee-san." That elicited a slight smile from the Taijutsu master.
"Oh? Thank you so much!" Dammit! She needed to be bold. She needed Lee's help.
"Um...I was wondering..."
"Is everything alright, Hinata-san?" Lee raised his eyebrow. Sweet Satan, they were heavy, but nowhere near as heavy as his teacher's, thank Hell...
"...Y'see...All my life, people have treated me like a weakling..."
"Uh-huh?"
"A-and I'd really appreciate it if you'd... if you'd be so kind as to..." Lee nodded.
"...I think you're weak because you have allowed yourself to BELIEVE that you're weak, thus ensuring your own demise. If you like, I help you with that."
And Hinata agreed.
