A/N: I got the idea when I saw commercial for that Queen Latifah movie, Last Holiday. I never actually saw it, but the concept was enough.

40 days, and 14 things to do about them
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Naruto couldn’t really hear much of what was being said anymore, his heart was beating too fast in his ears for that to be possible. The smell of antiseptic and chemicals that had bothered him the first time he entered the room was a forgotten discomfort. Yet, he actually felt enthusiastic at that time. Those times were over. He continued to twiddle his thumbs on his lap as the physician continued to drone on about this and that, technically, he had heard enough.
“And if you look here, you can see the abnormality represented as a white dot.” A bespectacled young man in white pointed to one of five rows of film attached to the wall. “This is what is causing the problem. It will continue to swell rapidly in the days ahead, until your thought processes are completely shot.” He was young, and wasn’t infallible, Naruto had reasoned with himself just moments before.
He couldn’t care less about the pictures; they already said what he already knew. He didn’t bother to even glance at them. He stared at the linoleum, not wanting to look where the fluorescents would burn his sight. His vision felt like it was shaking. He was shaking.
The girl who sat right beside him squeezed one of his hands with her own, clasping them together. “What does this mean doctor? Is there a cure? Surgery? Anything?” Sakura questioned pleadingly, her voice was unnaturally high. She was a med student, she had already understood the implications right when the images came out, but she hoped she was wrong. Dead wrong. She squeezed tighter.
The doctor shook his head dejectedly, his lack of experience clear behind his specs. “I’m afraid the condition is terminal. There is no cure and no amount of surgery will amend nineteen years of damage. I am deeply sorry.” The doctor turned his eyes from the sorrowful couple. That was the first time he had given news like that, and it was the worst possible. A frightening outcome, and an unchangeable fate.
It only took seconds for Sakura to burst into sobs, hugging a comatose Naruto tightly. They didn’t notice when the doctor padded to a table, retrieving a clipboard to write on Uzumaki Naruto’s data file, his status was confirmed.
He could not feel the bawling girl on his shoulder, or the tears streaming from her eyes. All he could think of was what he had done to deserve his fate. He gave the girl next to him a passing glance, thinking that he should have never brought her along. He had expected the worst when both his parents had died of the same disease. He was told that to them it was a blessing in disguise for that was how they found eachother. But things completely fell apart for them when they had a child by accident, and his mother did not want abortion. Naruto was doomed to be an orphan, his parents died soon after. They had died with more pain than they had ever imagined when they were forced to leave their baby behind. All alone.
Naruto had entered the room believing that he would simply get some form of sedative to deal with the migraines he had been receiving lately and that the x-rays wouldn’t be too serious. Needless to say, he was wrong.
The young doctor patiently waited in front of them, giving the two the well needed time to grieve. The sobs sent needles to his heart. He had chosen that profession with the conviction that saving lives reaped the best rewards. He had never considered what it would feel like to have his arms just float limply beside him, only to watch the suffering continue.
Sakura’s sobs had died down enough that the doctor felt it was time to speak again. One last nail to the coffin. “There’s one thing left to say before I can release you, and it needs to be said.” Sakura looked up from the blonde’s shoulder, makeup oozing from her tears. Her arms were still wrapped around the silently agonizing blond. She looked at the doctor in consternation, more bad news was unnecessary and she didn’t want any more. Naruto responded for the first time in minutes, looking blindly at the doctor’s face. His eyes were glazed over with trapped emotion.
His heart broke after seeing the sight. He seemed such a happy boy when he first entered the room, bickering with the pink-haired girl animatedly without a care in the world. How destiny can change a person was evident in the boy’s ocean colored eyes. The physician cleared his throat and shut his eyes tight, not wanting to see their reaction. “According to my analysis, you only have at least forty days left to live.”
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Sasuke parked his black Ferrari right in front of the hospital, relieved that parking spaces were everywhere, business must be slow. He winced painfully after he took his keys from the ignition and opened the car door. The sunlight registered pain into his poor head, white flashes before his eyes. He staggered dazedly and gripping the car for support. When his equilibrium returned to him, he slammed the car door shut, forgetting to lock it. He marched up the stairs, grumbling curses. He hated how he would always develop some severe headache after his visits in prison. His godforsaken brother actually had the gall to demand a conjugal visit. Conjugal meaning he just wanted Sasuke to arrange the paperwork needed to get him in a trailer with a hooker where they could do the dirty dance. Predictably, Sasuke stormed out of there pissed like a storm, migraine brewing. Itachi could fuck his cell mates for all he cared. While Sasuke ran the Uchiha legacy all by his lonesome, all Itachi cared about was to keep his balls from turning blue. Bastard!
For the first time in his life, he was grateful for sliding doors. He was too nauseas to even push another handle. It lessened the ringing in his ears when he saw with relief that the hospital was almost deserted. There were of course the occasional random nurse scrambling about, or the intern pushing the old lady on a wheel chair, but it was acceptable.
Sasuke tapped his nails impatiently beside the counter as the stuck up woman behind the computer noticed him after blowing her gum. “May I help you?” She batted her overly blackened lids lazily.
“I’m here to see Dr. Goldfine.” Straight to the point.
“You have an appointment with him?” She stared at him tiredly. Sasuke thought she was more suited working at fast-food, in drive-ins. He couldn’t figure out for the life of him why a hospital would hire someone so depressing.
Sasuke sighed. “Obviously. Now may I go see him?”
“Name please.” Gum pop.
“Uchiha Sasuke.” Eye twitch.
“Hold on.” She typed with her long manicured nails quickly. He had to admit, she was very efficient behind the keyboard. “Okay. Since he has no other patients, you may go see him now. He’s in room-”
Sasuke was already gone before she finished.
The woman released a prolonged sigh. He was cute, but kinda dull though, oh well. She thought, filing her nails.
Sasuke’s footsteps clattered on the hard floor as he trudged to his destination. He had been seeing the same doctor for a long time; his life was just that hard. He didn’t even have much of an idea that he was battling with severe depression until his doctor spelled it out for him. Sure he was unhappy, overstressed, who wouldn’t be juggling nearly a dozen corporations at once. His dearly departed parents multitasked to the max, which was their own downfall when they no longer spent any time with their own children. For that reason, Itachi felt his actions were justified, but it was Sasuke who suffered the blunt of his actions. He desperately needed a vacation. But would that make him any happier?
The raven was too busy lamenting his life to notice a blond man heading for him, who was also too wrapped up in his misery. Sasuke bumped into the boy with a grunt. “Watch where the hell your-” He was cut off when he was met with a familiar face. Sasuke smirked at the blond, ignoring his pained expression. “Hey dobe. Long time no see. Didn’t think I’d see you around here. Did you finally land that custodian job you always wanted?” He had a chance to blow off some steam, and he was damn gonna take it.
Naruto didn’t even spare him a glance. “Fuck off Uchiha.” He muttered without an ounce of vigor. He tried to get passed the Uchiha, but Sasuke sidestepped every time, blocking him.
“Why you in a hurry Naruto? Don’t you like me anymore?” Sasuke knew he was going too far. But he just had to get rid of his headache.
To his slight concern, Naruto only shook his head and shoved past him, running out of sight. Sasuke didn’t think the boy would actually cry. He rubbed the back of his head, damning himself for feeling guilty. Sasuke didn’t even consider that maybe Naruto was there for an injured relative. Though he was sure that Naruto didn’t have relatives, or friends even.
Sasuke sighed loudly and went on his way, trying to forget the miserable blond boy. He froze in place when he noticed another familiar face. A girl with pink hair, slowly padding in his direction like the living dead. Haruno Sakura spotted him immediately, though he didn’t get the glomping that he expected. “Sasuke?” She asked rather weakly.
So they went there together, but why? Sasuke was curious. He went closer to the girl who tried not to look at him in the face. She looked terrible, there were black tearstains on her cheeks, she must have been wearing mascara. “Haruno, what’s going on? I saw Naruto here just seconds ago. What is it you’re doing here?”
Sakura feebly turned facing him. “He did? Oh…he left so fast I didn’t even notice…”
Sasuke was not pleased with the girl’s current demeanor. She usually was such a rose, but at that moment she appeared to be wilting. Sasuke frowned, something was definitely wrong. He held the girl’s shoulders, forcing her to face him. “What’s wrong? Please tell me.” Why did he sound so concerned? But if it had anything to do with Naruto…
He didn’t know what to say when she suddenly burst with held back sobs. She choked on herself, keeping her from speaking. Sasuke admitted that he was a bit apprehensive. He had never seen her like that before. Not even the time when he snapped and yelled to her face about what he truly felt about her back in their highschool days.
Sakura just could not keep it buried any longer. She continued to sob before the Uchiha’s shocked gaze. She felt it would not hurt to tell Sasuke; after all, Naruto had forty days to live. That thought made her cries louder. She gulped down as much as she could before her words could be understood. “It’s… (sniff) Naru… (sniff) to… (sniff)”
Sasuke’s heart fell to his stomach. He had known. Though Naruto looked physically well, it was just… He shook the pink haired girl vigorously, she looked like she was about to break. “What happened to Naruto? Tell me!” He pushed, for if anyone hurt Naruto…
He didn’t expect Sakura forcefully throwing his arms off her shoulders. “He’s going to die Sasuke! He’s going to die!” She screamed in the deserted corridor. She ran passed him as well, bawling with every quick step.
Sasuke was rooted to the spot, mouth agape and shaking. Questions drenched with guilt assaulted his senses. He had the nastiest migraine conceivable that day.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Naruto sat in his chair, face on his hands. He had gone onto a fit of tears when he arrived to his apartment, but then he just felt numb. His phone received plaintive glances every few seconds as it lay on his desk. There were people who needed to know, who deserved to know. But as was the norm with people in that situation, he couldn’t even hold the damn thing without putting it back down. He ran his fingers through his hair, sighing loudly. He was gonna die in more than a month, yet he was taking it quite well. There was a dull throb at the back of his head which the doctor had warned would get worse with each day. He had ran out before the doctor could offer a prescription for painkillers. How could the bastard manage to suggest that when he was gonna kick the bucket anyway?
The blond shook his head in his hands. It wasn’t the doctor’s fault. He was just doing his job, and what a mean job it was. He glared at the phone one last time before he snatched it and dialed as quickly as he could before he could change his mind. It rang on the other end which meant it was too late to hang up, the person he was calling had caller id.
He stood up and paced his living room floor, waiting for an answer. His hands were getting sweaty and his chest hurt bad. He could feel the acid churn painfully in his stomach. “Pick up already!” He was getting really anxious after the tenth ring.
It took only took a few more when it was picked up. A yawn came first before a tired “hello?”.
Naruto wondered why someone would be sleeping at three in the afternoon. “Hey Iruka, tough day at the office?” His voice sounded extremely plastic to him, but not to the man on the other side.
“N-Naruto? Is that you?”
“Um…yeah Iruka. Who did you think it was?”
“Oh! Nothing, nothing. I just…can you wait just a sec?” He could hear the receiver being covered on the other end. He didn’t miss the sound of shuffling and the creak of a door being opened and closed.
Naruto sat back down. He didn’t have any idea just how he would lead that conversation. Or how he would end it. He rolled around on his computer chair as a nervous gesture.
“Hey Naruto.” The man sounded a bit out of breath. “You are the worst damn son on the whole freaking world! You haven’t called me for a month! What the hell is wrong with you?”
“Well sorry dad! But I’ve been busy…you know University is a bitch. Oh no! I take that back! School in general! You should know, you’re a teacher after all.”
For some reason there a weird pause between them. “Oh right, school…Anywho, how have you been? You have no idea how worried I am about you! I thought you like joined a frat or something.”
“Pfft, please. Frat boys are losers. And it’s just tough. Professors are such hard asses, I miss high school!” Naruto leaned back, staring at the ceiling.
There was a real pause right then, and Naruto felt that the mood was going to change. “There’s something strange here.” Iruka stated softly.
“What do you mean?” Naruto froze on his seat. “There a ghost in your place?” He didn’t want things to be serious just yet.
“Call me crazy but…it’s you. You don’t sound like yourself.”
The blond straightened himself, unable to relax. His foster father was far too perceptive. He wanted to hang up at that moment but he knew it would only make things worse. “Why do you say that?” he muttered dryly.
“I can feel that you’re voice sounded strained somehow. Like that time when you killed our neighbor’s cat and you couldn’t stop yapping when I got home. Is something wrong Naruto?”
Another meaningful silence. “If you’re forgetting, I was only ten then Iruka.” He was done for; he could hear the pain in his voice loud and clear.
“You didn’t call to chat didn’t you?” His father asked worriedly.
Naruto nodded, even though he couldn’t see it.
“Son. Please. What’s going on? You’re scaring me.”
Naruto stood up then, he couldn’t bear sitting down. He slowly walked, hoping it would calm his raging heart. “Do you…do you remember?”
“…remember what?”
“You know…my parents…”
“Naruto…is that what this is about? How many times must I tell this to you, despite the fact of you being born, they loved you until their last days. You’re not a mistake Naruto.”
“No!” It was too loud. The throbbing in his temple was too loud. He closed his eyes tightly, fighting the waterworks; he didn’t want to hurt the only father he had.
Iruka was angry then, thinking that Naruto still didn’t understand. “Dammit Naruto! Listen to me you brat! Don’t you dare make yourself miserable again because of this cause God so help me I’ll-”
“No! Please don’t it’s not that!” Tears seeped through the cracks in his eyelids.
Iruka was sobbing too. “…please don’t do that Naruto. You almost killed me when you did that! Please don’t kill yourself…please…just try to be happy at least…”
Naruto sobbed loudly. He didn’t even know the truth yet and already his father was crying. All at once it burst from his mouth like vomit. “I’m going to die!” He muttered the words over and over again, hugging his knees and rocking back and forth.
The silence stretched for an eternity, he could still hear Iruka sniveling softly, but not responding.
“Remember…” He tried to get out between his chokes. “…my parents…they both had…brain cancer?”
No words could express Iruka’s fear, and so he didn’t use any. His sobs were rising again even before Naruto fired the bullet to his soul.
“…it’s genetic…”
He could hear a thump which he assumed were Iruka’s knees hitting the floor. His father was still holding the phone when he started pounding the ground with his other fist. “Oh God…oh god…oh god…” Iruka mumbled between his own set of chokes.
That was it. Naruto had done the deed. He just deadpanned and stared at nothing, still clutching the phone. He didn’t notice his door opening, or the stranger that entered. He didn’t really care, they could try to kill him and he would let them. There would be no point defending himself anymore.
“Naruto.”
He turned towards the voice, his face devoid of all expression, except his eyes continued to stream fresh tears. “I love you dad…” was his goodbye. The phone slid from his fingers and shattered on the floor.
Sasuke’s face contorted in pain when he saw Naruto. He didn’t know what to say, mostly because the deafening ache in his head blinded him from most things.
The two boys just stared at eachother. Naruto saw right through him, he only saw the grim reaper, ready to take his soul. “What are you doing here?” He asked the devil.
Sasuke strolled closer, shoes sounding like dynamite to his sensitive ears. “I heard…you were gonna die.” Straight to the point.
Naruto blinked his eyes repeatedly, noticing him for the first time. He pushed his palms to both sides of his head, wanting so much for the noises to leave him alone. “Did you come here to gloat Uchiha? To rub it in my face? Or do you wanna kill me before God does? Are you going to spite him too? Answer me?!” He screamed when the brunette didn’t say anything.
Sasuke just stepped closer while Naruto stepped back, colliding with his computer desk.
The blond smiled a grim smile, extending his arms like a cross. “You’ve got forty days Uchiha! Forty fucking days to fucking torture me! So spend it well! I won’t be here longer than that!”
The raven winced at the inexcusable volume attacking his head. His eyes bugged out when he got what the boy had just said. “You’ve got…you’ve got forty days to live?” He tried to reach out for him.
Naruto narrowed his eyes; no longer sure what the hell the brunette wanted. He violently batted away Sasuke’s hand before it got to his face. “What the fuck do you think you’re doing?! Don’t you fucking touch me!” He bellowed.
Sasuke ignored all the pain in his body to try and hold the boy before him. Naruto was stunned when Sasuke embraced him, so stunned that he stopped breathing. “I’m so, so sorry Naruto. God I’m so sorry…” He whispered to the blonde’s hair repentantly.
The shorter boy only became more enraged. He pushed the taller boy off and punched him square in the jaw. Naruto paid no heed to his throbbing knuckles. “What makes you think I’ll ever fucking forgive you you asshole!” He spat.
The raven didn’t bother wiping the blood from his lip. “I didn’t ask you to forgive me! I said I was sorry!” He tried to make his voice louder than the ringing.
The blond laughed bitterly, voice devoid of humor. “It’s too fucking late for that Sasuke!” He ran hands through his hair, shaking away the dull pain. He glared at Sasuke accusingly. “Now that I’m almost dead you apologize?! Where the fuck were you when that actually mattered?! Where the fuck were you when you stopped being my friend?! I said don’t touch me!”
Naruto struggled frantically when Sasuke held tight, pinning his arms. “Please Naruto let me take it all back! I never wanted you to die!” For the first time in his rich life Sasuke was desperate. He desperately wanted to take back everything he did to the blond. He had no idea what he put the other through.
“No! Stop! You’re lying! You’re gonna leave me again! I know you are! Just leave me alone!” Naruto still thrashed in his arms but his energy was draining with his sobs.
Sasuke held Naruto’s head in one hand, putting his lips on his hair. “Let me make it up to you please. I should have done this a long time ago, but you’re right, I’m a fucking asshole. Naruto…you’re still my bestfriend.” He meant every word of it.
The blond was no longer struggling, too weak and too confused to fight. He rubbed his face on Sasuke’s chest, wiping his tears in the process. “Then why…why did you abandon me? Why did you turn into…a fucking asshole…”
The raven held tighter. “That can wait Naruto. But I’ll make sure you have the best forty fucking days in your life.” He mumbled, willing himself not to cry as well. “If you’ll let me…”
No one said a thing for many minutes. Naruto still lightly tearing to Sasuke’s chest while the he nuzzled his face on blond hair. He felt he had gotten his answer when Naruto lifted his arms and wrapped them around his old friend.
They both received a second chance.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Naruto sucked on a string of noodles as he dug his chopsticks into the takeout box. “So how about I trade your, ‘strive for world peace’ with my, ‘steal Nelly’s bandage thing’?” He chewed with his mouth open, clicking his chopsticks at Sasuke.
The raven ignored the sight, sifting through pieces of crumbled paper as they squatted on Naruto’s floor. “Whatever, as long as there is no ‘watch a lesbian foursome in a puddle of mud’.” He grumbled with disgust. More at the idea than Naruto’s manners.
The blond swallowed, digging into his box once more. “Yeah, those were just the hormone’s talking. You can also cross out ‘panty raid Jessica Simpson’. I don’t know what the hell I was smoking on that one.”
Sasuke smirked. “Maybe a can of tuna.”
Naruto choked on his noodles, spitting them back into the box as he laughed. Sasuke grimaced. “Did you just make a joke?’” Staring at his companion incredulously, but with a big happy smile. “No, more importantly. Does Uchiha Sasuke watch newlyweds?” That got him a scoff.
The raven just shrugged him off, but smiling all the same. He reached for his own box of Chinese noodles and ate it with far more elegance, and far less slurping.
It took many hours for both of the boys to calm down. They spent most of that time on the couch, mourning while holding eachother until they eventually fell asleep. They had awoken with the grief momentarily out of their system and their animosity completely behind them. Starting that night, they were friends. It was Sasuke who had suggested that Naruto make a list of all the things he wanted to do before he died, and Sasuke would come with him. The brunette had never got a chance to get away from his life, but now, it was a single chance to make someone else’s meaningful. He wanted Naruto to die happy.
They had ended their meals and set the empty containers aside as Sasuke made calls on his cellphone and Naruto continued to write on a piece of paper. Sasuke shut his phone and sighed, running his fingers through black hair. He sat down next to his friend. “Is it okay…like this?” Sasuke asked, with his arm resting on one bent knee.
“What’s okay?” Naruto inquired, not looking up from his scribbling.
“You know. Acting like nothing’s wrong.” Sasuke whispered, almost like he didn’t want to be heard.
Naruto closed his eyes and breathed hard. He looked at the raven beside him; Sasuke looked away, not wanting to meet his eyes. “Everything was wrong hours ago Sasuke do you really want us to go back to that? Unless you prefer me hating your guts, and you treating me like shit.” His voice was smoldering.
Sasuke winced, another headache. “No…I don’t want that. Not anymore. It’s just…you’re going to die and we’re being…” He didn’t know where he was going with that anymore.
The smaller boy cocked a blond eyebrow. “Being what? Chums? Oh Sasuke, you know it’s been a long time coming. Cause behind that assface of yours, I knew you adored me.”
Sasuke chuckled, he didn’t deny it.
Naruto looked back to his notes sullenly. He traced each one with his pencil. “There’s no point acting sad right now. We can bawl ourselves to sleep when it’s over, but we’ve still got forty days left. So you better empty that bank account of yours cause we’re going on one posh vacation. Yosh!” He raised his arms in cheer.
The Uchiha couldn’t hold back the grin even if he tried. He had given up his bestfriend when his life had seemingly ended and he had no more time for him anymore. And now that he really had no more time, he promised to spend every waking second together. He reached for the blonde’s waist and pulled him right beside him. Naruto leaned his head on Sasuke’s shoulder, enjoying the moment. “I missed you.”
Sasuke didn’t reply. Naruto knew he felt the same. He always had.
“You’re gonna make me happy this time right?”
“You bet.” It was his new goal. Sasuke reached for the note in Naruto’s hand with the arm around his waist. “So you finished?” He skimmed through the small piece of paper.
“Yeah, fourteen things to do before forty days.”
Sasuke’s face contorted in amusement as he read the ridiculous things that Naruto wanted to do. “Well…this is certainly…interesting.” He commented with a smirk.
“I’m kinda disappointed that I had to take out the ‘start a lama rodeo’, but that would take too long. Oh well. We’re gonna go to a lot of places now. All over the world…” The blond mumbled, drifting to sleep.
“Naruto, you said there was fourteen. You’re missing one.” The raven pointed out, dangling it in front of the blonde’s face.
He just took the list from Sasuke’s hand and stuffed it in his pocket. Naruto cuddled back on his shoulder. “Yeah, I already thought of a fourteenth, I’ll add it later.” He muttered, already drifting from consciousness. He had had a long, hard day.
Sasuke pulled him in even closer, and kissed his blond head, a tear trickled from Sasuke’s eye and was lost in the unruly mop.
“I can’t believe I took you for granted.”
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The next day, Sasuke had come to realize that Naruto almost NEVER locked his door. He sighed; he hoped that he wasn’t being reckless just because his days were numbered. Sasuke had packed as much as he needed for the trip and had went back to pick up the blond. He had handled everything concerning their numerous destinations and travel expenses. His company, of which he was CEO of, had yet to be informed of his plans. Only when he leaves the country would he REMEMBER to brief them. What a shame. Sasuke trudged on to Naruto’s room, he could hear the boy singing, very badly, in the shower. He spotted Naruto’s duffel bag on his bed. He was about to take it to his car when he spotted something white sticking out of a pair of jeans on the bed. He slipped it out of the pocket and he guessed it; it was the list. But he was surprised to find however that there was a fourteenth item. He gasped without sound.
14. Fall in love…
He couldn’t believe what he just read. He set falling in love as a goal? Who did he plan to fall in love with in forty days? He didn’t recall Naruto suggesting to bring any girls. If he did he would have snapped at him that was for sure. He didn’t want any guests on their last days together. He knew there were other who cared for Naruto as well but he couldn’t give a fuck about them.
He jumped a mile when he heard the shower cease and the opening of a sliding door. Sasuke hurriedly stuffed the list back where he found it before the blond left the bathroom…naked!
“Oh God!” The soaking blond dashed back into the bathroom and came back out with a towel around his waist. “Dammit Sasuke! I thought you were some pervert! And the way you are staring at me right now you probably are!”
Sasuke couldn’t get rid of his blush. He had never imagined Naruto was so…big. He immediately grabbed the duffel bag and hid his crotch behind it. “I’ll just take this to the car!” He ran out with Naruto staring suspiciously after him. Sasuke had a little big problem of his own to attend to.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
“Ah. I can’t believe I’m actually gonna miss this place.” He said with longing, looking around his apartment with teary eyes.
Sasuke remained apathetic. “Well, don’t. This place is a dump.”
Naruto pouted at him. “You jerk! This was the first place I found out that I could live by myself! It might not mean anything to you but it sure does to me.”
The raven sighed and draped an arm on the fuming blonde’s shoulders. “Okay, okay, I’m sorry. But you know, some people use fire to say goodbye to a home.”
Naruto frowned. “I’m not saying goodbye on THOSE terms. And besides, the whole building would burn down. I like my neighbors. Well…except for that cat lady and the hairy couple who can’t stop having sex.”
“Those are the only neighbors you know, aren’t they?”
“That is so true. Well! Let’s go!” With one final glance, Naruto ran out of the room, wanting to press the elevator button first.
Sasuke paced to the door and closed it behind him. Naruto would never come back there again. He had the entire world to see.

40 days, and 14 things to do about them
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
