"Nii-san!! Nii-san!!" The small dark haired boy, who looked no older than five, grasped the teenager’s pants leg, tugging gently. The two looked very similar. The older of the two’s hair was long, brushing against his middle back, and pulled into a loose ponytail. He looked down at the smaller boy with obsidian eyes, smiling.

“Yes Sasuke?” he asked. Sasuke had short black hair, matching his somewhat kind eyes. His bangs fell down the sides of his face and the rest spiked up in the back. Itachi kneeled down to where he could look the boy in the eyes and ruffled his hand through his little brother’s hair.

“Ano…there’s this boy at school. He’s really sweet and kawaii!! But he always comes to school with bruises and hurts. He says he‘s just clumsy, but I‘m worried. You don‘t think somebody is hurting naru-chan, do you!?” Itachi stared at the little boy, a bit surprised, before smiling.

“Well…if Naru-chan says it‘s nothing, maybe you should believe him. Let him tell you his secrets in his own time. Until then just be a good friend to him.” Sasuke smiled up at his brother before nodding and running off.

~~~~~~~
“pl…please…” The small boy whimpered, his hands buried deep in his dirty blonde hair, trying to shield his face with his arms. He was hunched up on the ground, his back against a tree that was a good distance away from the others surrounding the schoolhouse. Tears continued to fall from the sleeping boy’s face, even as Sasuke shook his shoulder, trying to wake him up.
“Naru-chan…naru-chan…it’s just a nightmare, wake up…” he said in a soothing voice, making circles in the boys shoulder with his finger. He smiled as sleepy blue eyes looked up at him. Naruto had the kind of eyes you could get lost in. A beautiful shade of blue that mimicked the sky, and blonde hair that was like sunshine. His skin was fairly tanned, which seemed to bring out the three scars he had on each cheek.
“Sasuke-kun…” he muttered sleepily, wiping his eyes. Sasuke smiled down at him.
“Come on! It’s lunch time! Come eat with me!” Sasuke said, pulling the other boy to his feet.
~~~~~~~

“Sasuke-kun!!” The blonde called out, knocking on the door of the large house. He backed away as the door was opened. The boy standing in the doorway looked like an older version of Sasuke. Naruto gulped under the stoic boy’s stare.

“A…ano…is Sasuke-kun home…” He stuttered, suddenly finding the floor of the porch very interesting. Itachi couldn’t help but smile at the intriguing boy in front of him. ‘this must be Naruto-kun…kawaii’. He smiled and nodded, motioning for the small child to follow him. He led him to Sasuke room, then left with a smile. The small boy rapped on the wooden door just before it opened.

“Naru-chan?” Sasuke asked confused. He smiled and let the boy in, not really caring why he was here, just that he was. Naruto walked in, his head lowered a good deal. He sat on the small futon, not bothering to look up at his best friend.

“Naru-chan, what’s wrong?” Sasuke asked, sitting beside him. Naruto looked at the older boy and suddenly wanted to cry. ‘no!’ he thought, ‘I have to do this, it’s for Sasuke’s own good…’.

“Sasuke-kun…you can’t be friends with me no more…” he said quietly. Sasuke stared at him in shock.

“wh..why!?” Sasuke said, standing up and nearly knocking his friend over in the process. Naruto looked down at the ground again, tears slowly forming in his eyes.

“Just…please…don’t be my friend no more…don’t worry about me or hang around me…please” The sad tone in Naruto’s voice made Sasuke want to cry as well.

“No! I won’t do that!” He snapped. Naruto was his best friend, he wasn’t giving that up to anyone. Suddenly his heart jerked as Naruto looked up at him, his eyes pleading and tears rolling down his cheeks.

“Tell me why Naruto…please?” Sasuke asked. Naruto just shook his head, standing and running out of the room. He ran past Itachi, nearly making the older boy trip, but still kept running until he was a good distance away from the house. He stopped, leaning against the wall of a building, tears still refusing to stop falling. He felt long fingers on his shoulder and jumped, turning to face the snake like man. The man smiled down at him, not a comforting smile, though. A scary smile, that always made Naruto shiver.

“Very good Naruto-chan…” he said, lifting the boy off the ground and cradling him in his arms. Naruto didn’t try to fight, he just snuggled up to the man’s chest, still crying. “Now now, let’s go home…”

After that Naruto started ignoring Sasuke in school. He wouldn’t go anywhere near the boy and eventually, Sasuke did the same. Especially after the incident. Sasuke could swear that he had seen the boy staring at him with longing eyes before, but chose to ignore it.

~~~~~~
“beep…beep…beep”
Sasuke inwardly cursed the idiot who invented alarm clocks as he swatted at his bedside table, trying to find the horrid thing. The annoying noise stopped as his hand collided with the alarm clock, knocking it to the floor. He already knew it was going to be a bad day. He hadn’t had a dream about the blonde nightmare in years. He noticed the boy in the hallway and at times in the classroom, but didn’t think twice about it. Usually.
He could hear Itachi downstairs making his coffee. He could see him in his head, doing the same routine he did every morning. March downstairs in his robe, looking absolutely ragged, prepare the coffee, walk outside and grab the paper, walk back inside, get his cup, sit down, and read while drinking the hot coffee. Nothing ever seemed to change here. He found a clean uniform and slipped it on, brushing his hair in the process.
“I’m leaving” He announced, not bothering to give his brother a second glance. He stopped for a second by the door before walking out, his statement unanswered.
‘Bye Otouto, be careful’
‘I will Aniki, daisuki!!’
‘Daisuki’
As soon as Itachi heard the door shut, he sat down his newspaper, staring into his cofee.
"Be careful Otouto...daisuki"
“Ohayo Gouzaimasu Sasuke-kuuuuun!!!!”
The annoying screeches of teenage girls was the last think the dark haired boy wanted to hear this morning, but alas, fate hated him today. Everyday he was greeted by the loud screams of fan girls and nothing irked the young Uchiha more. Though, one thing was different today. The large crowd was missing the blonde and pink blobs that usually could be seen above all the others. Sasuke decided that maybe, just maybe that was a sign that today wouldn’t be so bad.
“Hey!”
Wrong. Sasuke turned to see both the blonde and pink haired girls walking towards him. Sakura Haruno and Ino Yamanaka were without doubt the two most obsessive of his fan girls. In fact, they were the ones who started the fan club (though Sasuke didn’t know this little piece of information, if he did he would promise both girls a slow painful death).
“Get away from him” Ino yelled, both girls walking right past Sasuke as if they hadn’t even acknowledged he was there. Sasuke could’ve seen a pig fly at this point and not been one bit surprised. Instead they moved towards a group of jocks surrounding a small blonde haired boy, pushing him around as if he were a basketball. The blonde boy was doing his best to ignore them, trying to get his books from his locker. Ino and Sakura were trying to get passed the larger boys with no luck. He shut his locker, attempting to walk away with no avail as one of the jocks put hi hands up on each side of the frightened boy.
"Where you going cock-sucker....going to see your boyfriend" He teased. Naruto's arms wrapped tightly around his books, trying not to cry.
"Puh..Please...just leave muh..me alone...Kisame...." The shark like boy holding him hostage smiled toothily.
"But naru-chan, we just wanna have some fun...." His pale hand traveled up the smaller boys thigh as tears started to fall freely down his cheeks. All the sudden Kisame cried out in pain as his arm was twisted behind his back.
"I think that's enough shark-dick" Sasuke hissed. Kisame opened his mouth to snap back but Sasuke just squeezed his arm tighter. Kisame nodded his head furiously, causing Sasuke to let him go. He took off down the hall, the rest of his 'gang' following him.
"Naruto!" Sakura cried, kneeling next to the crying boy. She hesitated before pulling the small boy into his arms. "Hush hush now, naru-chan, it's ok, I'm here..." She cooed, trying to comfort him. Ino turned towards Sasuke and smiled.
"Thank you so much Sasuke-kun" She said, then turned towards the other two. Sakura was petting the shaking boys hair.
"Does this happen a lot?" he asked, feeling a tad sorry for the boy. Ino smiled sadly.
"Yeah...Naruto has it pretty rough." She sighed, "But it's not his fault. His dad...he's ruthless. He could care less what happens to him. I think he's in jail right now...He's killed a lot of people...and Naruto gets pushed around because of it. Not only that but his dad...well, would beat up on him...and stuff, so he's really timid. I really shouldn't be telling you this but..."
~!~!~
"Naru-chan!!" a little Sasuke said, running towards their normal meeting place, a small tree by the lake. Naruto was huddled up under it, crying into his knees. "Naru-chan! What’s wrong..?". Naruto looked up at him, wiping the tears from his face. He had a big bruise on his face. Sasuke looked taken back.
"Sa..Sasu-kun...." Naruto said. Sasuke stared at him.
"What happened?!" He asked, "Did someone hit you?" Naruto shook his head.
"I fuh..fell..." He lied, wiping his eyes again.
"are you ok..?" he asked. Naruto nodded but failed to quit crying. Sasuke wrapped his arms around the smaller boy.
"Shhh...it's ok now, I’m here, shhhh..."
~!~!~
"Thanks for helping him Sasuke-kun" Sakura said, helping the smaller boy up. Naruto looked up at him, having not noticed him before. His eyes widened.
"Sasuke..." he said. “Sasu…ke…I..I..I didn’t…I didn’t want to…” Naruto’s eyes watered up, his stuttering not changing. He was shaking. Sasuke’s eyes widened even more, realizing what he was saying.
“Naruto…what…” Sakura tried to intercept, but Ino grabbed her.
“I…I’m s..sorry…I ne..never w..wanted t..to…leave he said that I..I had to or he w..would…hurt Sasuke-kun…and…and…I..I’m sorry…I really…didn’t…want..” Tears were now streaming down his face. Sakura freed herself from Ino grasp and hugged he blonde boy.
“See now look what you’ve done! You made him cry…Naruto….Naru-chan…”she leaned down whispering in his ear, “It’s ok Naru-chan, he’s not going to find you again I promise, he’s gone now”.
Sasuke stared at them confused. Who was Naruto talking about. Someone threatened to hurt him if Naruto didn’t stop being friends with him? His fist was thrust into the nearest locker causing Naruto to stiffen up.
“Why…why didn’t you say something? Aniki could have helped, damnit Naruto, we could have done something! We were kids, you shouldn’t have had to deal with that. I was your friend…hell of a friend that turned out to be huh…” His hand had moved to his hair. Naruto looked down at the floor again. Sasuke kneeled down beside him, causing Sakura to move out of his way. He wrapped his arms around the smaller boys frame.
“I’m sorry, god, I’m sorry" he muttered into his hair. He caught a whiff of that scent he had missed so much. He smelled like a spring day, honey and sunshine, which fit his sun kissed skin and hair perfectly. Sakura stood up, not wanting to interrupt the moment but the bell was going to ring soon.
"Naru-chan, maybe we should take you to the infirmary to rest." She smiled. It was a surprising day. She'd never seen the cold Uchiha take a liking to anyone, much less the class punching bag. Something seemed familiar about it though. She remembered Sasuke when they were younger, he was sweet and gentle back then, and come to think of it, Naruto was always clinging onto him. They were always together. But that was ages ago. The Uchiha wouldn't usually spare the blonde a second glance, but now here he was holding him in his arms and comforting him. She couldn't help but smile. The Sasuke she had grown to adore for his looks and money wasn't such an ice prick after all. Sasuke stood up the blonde boy following in suit.
I'm sorry it's so short, but it's all I have! I'll try not to give up on it!!
