Returns and Revelations
A/N: Just as a fair warning to all of you this story will be my first attempt at a truer third person story. Until now all of my writing has been primarily third person limited focusing around Raven. But since this is a Naruto fanfic and he’s now back from his training I’m going to include him throughout most of the story. This takes place after the time jump and from this point on the events in this story and any possible sequels will be my version of the way I would like the mangas and anime to go. I hope you all enjoy this one and as always any feedback is always appreciated.
Also I wish to apologize to anyone that read and enjoyed the ORIGINAL version of this story but to be honest I didn't really like how it had turned out and thought the whole idea of the Slayers (execpt for the Clan's Founder) and the prophecy was just too much even for a Naruto fanfic. So I'm rewriting the story and redoing it the way I had initially intended to do it before I got so far off track. I hope you enjoy this version as much as the last.
In addtion since thise story is being rewriten the events in this new version and the fact that I really didn't like to begin with lead to the deletion of 'Shadows of War and Renewal'.

{{“Kit, it‘s time to wake up,”}} the nine-tail fox tells his vessel. Over the lat couple of years the demon and shinobi have come to a type of understanding the soon blossomed into a friendship of sorts.
Naruto groans as he slowly begins to leave the dream world for that of the real world. "I‘m up, I‘m up," the blonde shinobi tells his tenant. Sitting up in bed he stretches as a yawn escapes his lips.
“So you’re finally awake,” a voice calls from the doorway.
Turning to look at the man Naruto gives him one of his trademark goofy grins. “Hai,” he answers before getting up to dress for their return to Konoha. “So what’s for breakfast Ero-sennin?” the teen asks his mentor.
“Whatever you want to buy,” the white haired Sannin answers. “You’ve only got half an hour till we leave town so you better hurry,” the man laughs as the boy quickly scrambles to get dressed before racing out the door in search of a place to eat.

"Hai," Naruto replies, “I wonder how much everyone‘s changed since the last time we saw them.”**
{{“Only one way to find out,"}}> the fox tells him before they begin to walk past the large thick doors and into the village they hadn’t seen in more then two years.

Hinata is out shopping for groceries for the dinner she is planning on cooking for Raven when she suddenly sees a face she hasn’t seen in nearly two and a half years. [i]‘Naruto-kun.’[/i] As she watches the boy her heart begins to beat rapidly as she feels herself blushing brighter then she has since Raven’s proposal nearly six months ago.
She quickly ducks behind a large sign as she allows herself to take in his new appearance. The most noticeable difference is the new outfit that he is wearing. While he still wears his trademark orange it is now darker then before with black trim instead of the previous blue. His clothes like hers are also more formfitting and nowhere near as baggy as they used to wear. As she continues to eye him she also notices that he has tanned rather nicely and appears to have added more muscle then he had before. ‘He seems to have calmed down, even matured a little.’ She also notices that he has gotten taller then he was the last time she had seen him. Over all she found that she liked this new Naruto’s appearance very much.
“Who are we watching?” a voice softly whispers in her ear.
“Naruto-kun,” she gasps turning around to find the subject of her childhood crush standing right in front of her. “Naruto-kun I- that is I…,” she begins to ramble.
“Is something wrong Hinata-chan?” a new voice asks from behind the blonde blocking her view of the new comer.
“No-nothing’s-nothing’s wrong Raven-Raven-kun,” she replies softly as she fidgets with her fingers in front of her.
Naruto turns around and comes face to half face with the man Hinata identified as Raven. His eyes narrow as he examines the man’s appearance. The twin kunai holsters on each leg and numerous weapons pouches lining his belt gives Naruto the impression that this is not someone to be taken lightly. What catches his attention the most about the man’s all black outfit are the ribbed arm, leg and chest coverings he wears.
“How can someone be so silent we didn‘t even hear him walk up behind us?” he asks Kyuubi. As he begins to wonder about the bandana style hitai-ate and dark sunglasses cover the top half of the man’s head.
]{{“I don‘t know kit,”}} the bijuu answers, {{“It's almost as if he just materialized out of thing air.”}}
“Raven-san,” Jiraiya calls to him as he walks over towards the teens. “It has been along time,” he adds noticing how much the older teen has changed. “I was sorry to hear about Koga-sama and your exile.”
“You know this guy Ero-sennin?” Naruto asks his mentor.
“Hai,” Jiraiya answers, “Raven-san was born into Konoha’s Hiroku clan. Until his exile several months back he was considered the pride of his clan.”
{{“HIROKU,”}} Kyuubi roars, {{“Quick kit we need to get out of here NOW.”}}
“What‘s wrong?” Naruto asks his tenant.
{{“The Hiroku’s founder was a Jinchuuriki Slayer and Bijuu Hunter,” the demon warns his vessel, {{“We have to run before he realizes what you are and kills us both.”}}
Raven notices Naruto’s sudden silence and looks at Hinata with a warm smile. “Round up the others and ask them to meet us at the restaurant at five for dinner,” he tells her. Hinata smiles and bows, grateful for the excuse to leave and takes off quickly to find their friends.
“Let’s go somewhere and talk.” Raven doesn’t wait for a reply as he forms several quick seals. In almost an instant the shadows of the surrounding area move towards them and encase them in darkness. As the darkness recedes it takes the three men with it.

As they step out of the shadows of Raven’s apartment Naruto doubles over covering his mouth and he drops to his knees as an intense wave of nausea washes over him. “Kami-sama, I haven't been this sick since the last time I ate Ero-Sennin's cooking.”
{{“Damn it Kit I told you to run,”}} Kyuubi reminds him, {{“Now we‘re screwed.”}}
“Sorry about that,” Raven says interrupting his internal conversation. "I keep forgetting how disorienting that is when you're not used to it."
“You're not the only one,” Jiraiya says as he leans against the wall to steady himself. "It's been so long since I traveled with a Hiroku that I forgot how that felt."
“Ero-sensei ,” Naruto groans, “What was that?”
“Shadow Walking,” the Sannin answers, "It allows the Hirokus to travel through the shadows very quickly and get around or through their enemy's defenses unseen."
{{"Yeah,"}} Kyuubi snarls, {{"It's how their founder was able to break into our dens and slaughter us in our sleep."}}
"Naruto Uzumaki," Raven says drawing their attention back to him. "Have you begun to merge with Kyuubi no Kitsune or is the Bijuu still sealed?"
"Why the hell should I tell you?" Naruto demands as he jumps to his feet only to be floored by another wave of nausea.
"They've merged," The Sannin answers earning a death glare from his student. "It's been about a year and a half now."
"ERO-SENSEI..."Naruto yells at his teacher. "What are you doing?" he demands, "Don't you know what he is?"
"I know what his ancestor was," the older man answers, "I also know that we can trust Raven-san.” Jiraiya then turns back to look at Raven before continuing; “At first I was worried but Kyuubi has shown no signs of trying to escape or any intentions of causing any further destruction. If anything the merger has actually been a good thing for both of them.”
“So the theory was true,” Raven says as he leans against the dinning table. “The attack on the village was out of revenge and not just some random act of destruction.”
{{“I‘m impressed,”}} the bijuu comments. {{“Though I would like to know where he learned this information.”}}
“So would I,” Naruto replies. “Where do you find this theory?” he asks the older boy.
“The Hiroku clan has detailed scrolls pertaining to every aspect of events that transpire in Fire Country,” Raven answers honestly. “When I was younger I used to study these scrolls even though some were heavily sealed in the forbidden section of the archives,” he admits. “That’s actually how I learned most of my former clan's most difficult and forbidden Jutsus.”
“Impressive” Naruto tells him. “But what now?" he asks, "You know about me and my merger with Kyuubi so what are you going to do, kill us?”
“If I had wanted you dead you would already be so,” Raven informs him as he walks across the room to open the door. “Normally I'd invite you to stay and talk over refreshments but I’ve still got to get ready for the party tonight and so do you.”
“You don’t even know me so why are you doing this?” Naruto asks.
“Cause Hinata-chan and the others will want to celebrate your return,” is the only answer that Raven gives him.
{{“Don‘t push our luck Kit,”}} the fox warns him. {{“Be grateful he‘s letting us go and is paying for your reunion with your friends.”}} Naruto heeds the demon’s advice and thanks Raven for the party before leaving with Jiraiya to get ready himself.
