He couldn’t believe his luck, with this scroll he could…he could. He could what? It had been wrong to take it, he knew. But when grandma Tsunade had left her office to check on Sakura’s studies, he saw the opportunity and took it. Besides, granny didn’t have any use for a scroll like this, why would she be interested in women? With an ever growing grin, he clutched the paper harder as he leapt from house to house through the streets of Konoha. A Jutsu that would make women slaves, it was brilliant...and wrong on so many levels. As houses whizzed by him and the wind blew through his unruly spiky blonde hair, he thought of the consequences of using such a scroll on unsuspecting women.
Arriving at his apartment, he felt a twinge of regret. It really was wrong; he would return the scroll early tomorrow before granny knew it was gone. Making up his mind, he started to take off his shirt and prepare for bed when he grabbed his stomach painfully. His seal hurt again, the nine-tail fox was making his presence known. It had been getting worse, the Kyubi’s constant pushing. Truthfully, it had started the day him and Sasuke had fought. When he drew on the nine tail’s power, it changed something. He wasn’t sure what, but he wasn’t exactly just Naruto anymore. It was if the fox’s personality was merging with his, changing his temperament and personality in slight areas. Grabbing his stomach tighter, he hit the floor hard.
It was cold and wet as an air of oppressive power weighed and pushed in on him.
Naruto stared at the flooded floor, wondering why he was here, again.
“Hello kit,” a voice sneered.
Startled, Naruto look up from the ankle deep water he had been transfixed by. He clenched his fists as he yelled “What do you want demon fox!”
Kyubi smirked only as a fox could, he could sense the boys brave front. They weren’t strangers, but they also weren’t friends. There was still fear. Fear of a power the boy couldn’t always control, fear of the consequences of this power within him. “Well, you know the answer to that,” he worked his head so both eyes stared out through between the bars.
Naruto glared, fists still clenched, “You think I’d let a monster like you out! After all the deaths you’ve caused!” He took a dramatic step forward, bringing a fist up, “I’ll never remove your seal, believe it!”
The demon laughed a deep rumbling noise that made Naruto grow nervous. The room was filled with the noise, shaking the walls. “I know, I know. You must protect your ‘precious people.’ But you know as well as I do we aren’t so separate anymore. Since the first time you drew on my power we’ve slowly been merging. Soon this cage won’t keep me.”
The truth washed over Naruto; over the past four years since he first drew on the fox he had felt the differences. His temper had been growing since he was 12, his patience thinning and his wants coming to the front. At seventeen he was feeling the weight of containing the demon.
The laughter came again, “Give in. I know of the new jutsu you stole, I made you do it.” The gasp that reached his ears delighted him, so the boy was learning. He could put thoughts in the containers head, suggestions that bled into his subconscious. It had taken 4 years to be able to exert such influence, but wholly worth it. The seventeen year old boy before him had to know this was a losing fight; the fox was not going to be a bystander anymore. “You will use it. I’m sick of these people treating you like they do. Sick of feeling your wants go unabated.”
Naruto woke on the floor, sweat covered his body. “Dammit!” He yelled, hitting the floor with his fist. “Damn you fox!” He hit the floor again for good measure. His eyes then fell on the scroll next to him. His fingers twitched as he wanted to resist. Maybe I could please the fox by merely looking it over…
As he sat on the edge of his bed, the open scroll resting on his lap, he knew what he would do. Burn it. There was no way he’d let another have such a scroll, regardless of its implications in missions. Granted, mentally taking over an enemies mind and enslaving them could save lives, but it also had the risk of to much misuse. If the scroll ever fell into the wrong hands, how many women would fall victim? How many rapes? Burning the scroll, watching it turn to ashes, he knew he had made the right decision. Finally lying down on the bed, Naruto succumbed to a dreamless sleep. Tomorrow he met the team for training.
