Konoha High School. Konoha Japan.
Dear Orochimaru-sensei...We accept the fact that we had to sacrifice a whole Saturday in detention for whatever it is we did wrong. What we did WAS wrong. But we think your crazy to make us write this essay telling you who you think we are. You see us as you want to see us...in the most simplest terms and the most convenient definitions. You see us as a slut, a jock, a nerd, a prep, and a criminal. Am I right? That's the way we saw eachother at 7:30 this morning.

“Daddy! This is totally unfair. How could you not get me out of this! You’ve gotten me out of stuff far worse! All my friends will spread rumors. They’ll tell everyone I’m a nerd!” 16-year-old Sakura Haruno whined to her dad as they sat in their car in front of her high school.
“Sakura, honey, you are not a nerd. You’re beautiful, popular, and pretty. I’ll make it up to you somehow. Honey, just because you skipped school to go shopping with Ino whats-her-face does not make you a nerd. Now here’s your lunch and a few dollars for a drink or something. Have fun!” He kissed his daughter’s forehead. Her bright green eyes looked up at him, hoping for some kind of sign that this was all a joke.
Not seeing one, she got out of the car and headed into Konoha High. This was the last place she wanted to be on a Saturday morning. With a heavy sigh she was reminded of the reason she was here. Sakura was no stranger to drugs; she had done several over her freshman year. In fact, her dad had believed that she had gone shopping with Ino the day she skipped school. This was far from the truth, as Ino's attendance record stated. Ino had been present in all of her classes. Sakura had opted to tell her dad the truth, as to why she had skipped school Sakura had gone to a place to buy heroin but after being caught and told on by another student, she confessed yet pleaded with the principal to tell her parents that she had been shopping. Eventually, he saw how scared she was of telling her parents and lied to them as well.
Sakura was hoping that if her parents found out about about her heroin usage, they would finally stop fighting over her and trying to act like one was the better parent. Obviously, neither adult was that great of a parent like they thought themselves to be if their only daughter was doing heroin. Sakura wasn’t even surprised that when she came home drugged out, and neither parents said a word. Their stony slience continued even after she handed them the paper informing them about her ‘shopping spree’ and the upcoming Saturday School .
Her father drove off and gave a halfhearted wave, yet she had turned too quickly and didnt see him. As she made her way to the entrance of the high school, another car drove up into the parking lot, brakes squealing, stopping abruptly, because the driver had almost hit a red-haired kid walking, not even stopping to look for cars.
A dark-haired teen sat in the car that had just pulled up. He ‘tsked’ at the person that had almost gotten hit. It would’ve been easy to die so simply. He thought with bitterness in his mind. He wondered what death was like.
“Sasuke, are you listening to me?” His mother asked.
Sasuke turned his attention to her.
“Yes, mother?” Sasuke asked, knowing that the faster she got through with talking, the sooner he’d be able to leave.
“Is this going to happen again?” His mother inquired, as if he would say otherwise, only looking for the correct answer.
“No, Ma'am.” Sasuke replied, his eyes were emotionless as he sat there. It was as though there were some mask over his real emotions, when he was around his family, especially his mother. He wasn’t the first Uchiha to remain cold and expressionless.
“I want you to get in there and study. This Saturday school is not to be taken lightly. Do you know how much this will put you back? You were so close to getting into law school. So close. Now your father is going to have to persuade them to let you in,” Sasuke’s mom said harshly.
Sasuke peered out the window, a boy on the corner wearing a trench coat was smoking, white clouds rising above his head and into the sky. Sasuke knew exactly what his mother meant by persuasion. His dad was going to pay the law school, the same one almost every single Uchiha went to, huge sums of money so that Sasuke could be one of the many to continue the proud tradition. What a disgrace Sasuke was to the family. He was nothing like Itachi. No, Itachi was the Uchiha prodigy. No one found a gun in Itachi’s locker. Itachi never slacked off in highschool.
And look how Itachi ended up.
Itachi had been caught with marijuana a few months back. His parents had broken their backs in order to cover the ordeal up. In the end, it paid off. Thanks to their parents, the relatives had believed that Itachi was on vacation somewhere in the Caribbean . Now Itachi sat wordlessly in the back seat. He had screwed up, and he had screwed up terribly. After getting back from the few months he spent in jail, which seemed to put some sense in him, Itachi was careful. He was cold and emotionless when around his parents, and relatives. He was careful not to get caught again, whether by the cops, or his parents. Nonetheless, his pot smoking days had decreased a lot.
“Sasuke! You look at me when I’m talking to you!” His mother hissed. There was a grunt from Itachi in the back seat.
Their mother turned with daggers in her eyes and glared. Sasuke turned as well. His eyes locked onto Itachi’s. As he stared into eyes that were identical to his, if not slightly larger, he could remember a time when Itachi was carefree and fun. That was before he had been sent to a boarding school. Now, Itachi stared lifelessly back at Sasuke. It was as though he knew what Sasuke was going through.
“Sasuke, have fun and remember to study for your exams next week.” Mikoto said, turning towards her other son, that was in the front seat.
“Hai, I will mother.” Sasuke said, his eyes still locked onto Itachi’s. He gave Itachi a nod and received one as well, then stepped out of the vehicle.
Out of the corner of his eye, he could see his mother’s Mercedes turn out of the parking lot. Then he proceeded to walk in the building.
~~
A redhead walked across the street, ignoring the honks and yells for him to get out the way. After getting into the parking lot, he was vaguely aware that a car had just drove off and also that another one was coming towards him.
He smirked, maybe he’d be lucky enough to get hit. He heard the car screech to a stop.
‘Guess today isn’t my lucky day…’ He thought to himself.
He glanced at the watch that he had stolen from his father. It was 7:23. Seven minutes until he was supposed to be in the library. He stood against the railings and figured now wasn’t a bad time for a smoke. He grabbed a cigarette and a lighter from his pocket. He inhaled the toxic fumes into his lungs. Maybe he’d get lung cancer. He exhaled, watching the smoke get blown by the wind, half of it lost.
Today of all days was a good day to be at school instead of the shit-hole he lived in. His father was a drunk, his sister had to work 2 jobs to help pay for his tuition to school, which was a lost cause, he hadn’t seen his mother since he was three, and his brother was only home to bring in money he had pick pocketed.
He threw the cigarette on the ground and crushed it with his foot. He hadn’t meant to think about his family at a time like this. It brought a bad taste to his mouth, or maybe it was the cigarette. He zipped his jacket up and put his hat on, trying to hide himself from the world.
Love was a lost cause, he decided.
~~
“Look, Neji, I know what you did was very, very wrong. Its happened before. It’s just that…we didn’t think you’d freak out like this. You only lost one match…” An uncle said to his adopted nephew in the car. They were currently parked in front of Konoha High School.
Neji simply looked at his uncle. There was something in his pale eyes. What was it? Anger? Insecurity? Hatred?
Neji had tried so hard to be accepted by his family, the Hyuugas. His father had died when he was little, and he was taken in by his uncle, his dad’s brother. There was constant competition between him and his uncle’s daughter, his cousin, Hinata. She always came out victorious. He could remember a time when him and Hinata were fencing, a harmless way to sword fight, and she had beaten him. Neji watched as family members came and picked her up, cheering her. He walked away with his head hung low, not seeing Hinata’s worried gaze.
“You just need to be more like Hinata, and not freak out at a loss.” was all his uncle said.
Neji nodded and got out of the car. If he needed to be more like Hinata, then so be it. He wanted to be fully accepted by the family. Whatever it took.

Naruto stepped out of his friend Kiba’s car. He looked at the big building in front of him, Konoha High. Where he would spend the next 8 hours.
“Have fun, Naruto! Maybe tonight I can relieve your stress, and you’ll let me fuck you." Kiba sneered before driving off.
Naruto chuckled. Kiba was such an ass. He knew that Naruto had no intention of having sex with him. Sure Naruto was gay, same as Kiba. But he and Kiba were best friends, nothing more, even though he learned that Kiba had masterbated to him before. It gave Naruto shudders just thinking about it. He loved Kiba like a brother, and sex with Kiba just didn’t seem right. Plus, he was afraid he would lose his only best friend if they took the next step and Kiba always had other hot guys to flirt with. It wasn’t like Kiba was a virgin.
That was the problem with Naruto. Kiba was openly gay. Naruto, however, was still kind of coming out of his shell. Kiba would happily pronounce that he was gay to the entire school, but Naruto, Naruto was different. He believed in true love, and even though he had many offers, he was still a virgin. He wanted it to be perfect, although nothing is ever perfect, and for it to be with the person he truly loved. A lot of people at the school knew of Kiba’s reputation, and since they always saw Naruto with Kiba, they figured, since Kiba was a manwhore, Naruto was too. It irked Naruto that he was classified as that.
~~~(sorry for the long introduction)
Sakura was sitting quietly at one of the tables in the front of the library. She was bored already. The door opened, and in walked Sasuke Uchiha, walking encyclopedia of this school. Although she had to admit he was rather cute. She had had a crush on him in grade school.
Sasuke avoided her gaze and sat in the seat behind her. She didn’t bother to turn around. A redheaded kid she had seen before breaking into another persons locker walked in. He was wearing a black jacket and had a cap on, hiding his fire red hair. She stared in awe at him. She could see part of a tattoo on his forehead, to the left. She wished she could see it all, but it was carefully hidden under the cap. She watched, puzzled, as he messed a few things around. He obviously liked to cause disturbance.
The red haired kid, she didn’t know his name, walked to the back, sat down, and put his feet up. He tilted his head, so his face was hidden, as if he was sleeping. Sakura turned back around, passing the gaze of Sasuke for a moment.
A few minutes went by. Sakura could’ve sworn the thing was supposed to start at 7:30, yet there was no teacher to be found.
‘Maybe he’s late.’ Sakura guessed.
She turned back around toward the red-haired kid and noticed he was in the exact same position as before. Sasuke was busy writing or drawing something.
A teenager with almost white eyes and extremely long black hair walked in and sat in a seat in front of the red-headed kid. The white eyed kid stared disapprovingly at the red haired kid.
Silence.
Then Naruto burst in, a look of stupidity on his face.
“Um, is this the room for Saturday school?” Naruto questioned, looking at the other teenagers.
‘Dobe…’ Sasuke thought.
No one answered Naruto, as he stood there, confused.
“Oh, okay…wrong room. Sorry!” Naruto said, turning to leave.
Sasuke cast a look at Sakura, who was snickering.
“Dobe, this is the right room.” Sasuke said to the blond kid.
“Eh! Don’t call me dobe! You’re a Teme!...and um, thank you.” Naruto yelled at Sasuke.
‘This guy is unbelievable.’ Sasuke thought to himself.
Naruto took a seat across from Sasuke, figuring this guy would be the nicest.
Another male, somewhat older, with long black hair and pale skin walked in about the same time.
All four teenagers recognized him. The fifth teenager wasn’t paying any attention, but if he had, he would have recognized this man as the guy who was in charge of regular detention. This man was Orochimaru-sensei, the last teacher they wanted to see outside of school. The man was just plain freaky.
“Ah, so you’re all here, correct?” Orochimaru-sensei asked, giving Gaara in the corner a once over. The kid seemed to always make him angry.
“Orochimaru-sensei! I thought that Kakashi-sensei was assigned today!” Sakura whined. Why did it have to be him, and not Kakashi-sensei.
“Watch your mouth, girl. Kakashi had to take care of something, so I filled in for him."
Sakura groaned, a little too loudly and Orochimaru shot her a death glare.
“Today,” Orochimaru stated, completely unfazed by Sakura, “You all are assigned to write an essay as to why you are here. 5,000 words. No less.”
Three groans could be heard by Sakura, Neji, and Naruto.
"You will not talk, you will stay in your seats, if there are any sounds that come from your mouth, you will be in here next saturday as well. You may also not sleep." Orochimaru growled, turning his attention to Gaara.
"The one on the corner sleeping, someone wake him up?” Orochimaru demanded.
Neji turned around and knocked Gaara’s shoes off his desk. Gaara woke with a start, his eyes slanted evilly at Neji.
“Fucker…” Gaara whispered out so Orochimaru would not hear him.
Neji simply turned around, unaffected by the comment.
“Thank you Neji, such a good student. Now, have you made yourself acquainted with the other students?” Orochimaru asked.
Everyone shook their head ‘no.’
“Figures…Alright. This girl up here is Sakura Haruno, mind her, she can be quite the bitch. The guy behind her is Sasuke Uchiha," Orochimaru's eyes gleamed at the mention of Sasuke's name, "The one in the corner is Gaara Suna." Orochimaru finished, before being disrupted.
“Present!” Gaara interjected harshly.
Orochimaru ignored him, it took a lot more to really piss him off.
“And the one in front of Gaara, is Neji Hyuuga. Then we have Naruto Uzumaki.” Orochimaru ended.
Naruto was beaming, and had his hand raised high.
“Naruto, what is it?” Orochimaru asked. He had had Naruto several times in class. He knew Naruto would continue to sit there, stupidly, until called upon.
“Um, what do we do if we have to take a piss…?” Naruto asked, embarrassed.
“Ah, there are bathrooms in the back. Bye, and don't think I know what your gunna do when I leave. Any sound, and I will be right back in here.” Orochimaru said, and was gone like that.
All five teenagers exchanged glances between each other. There was a deep silence among them. Each one waiting for the next to say something.
“Alright, so you guys better be fucking quiet. I plan on sleeping.” Gaara said, warningly, wondering why he was being this mean, all of a sudden.
He put his feet back up on the desk and pulled his cap down, covering his eyes. After a few minutes, he ceased moving, and everyone turned back around to leave him alone and not get on his bad side.
Everyone except Naruto Uzumaki.
Sasuke had his eye on Naruto, knowing he’d do something stupid and piss Gaara off.
“GAARA ARE YOU ALIVE!?” Naruto yelled against Gaara’s ear, successfully waking him up.
Sasuke swallowed. This was going to be a long day.
“Fucker…” Gaara whispered out so Orochimaru would not hear him.
Neji simply turned around, unaffected by the comment.
“Thank you Neji, such a good student. Now, have you made yourself acquainted with the other students?” Orochimaru asked.
Everyone shook their head ‘no.’
“Figures…Alright. This girl up here is Sakura Haruno, mind her, she can be quite the bitch. The guy behind her is Sasuke Uchiha," Orochimaru's eyes gleamed at the mention of Sasuke's name, "The one in the corner is Gaara Suna." Orochimaru finished, before being disrupted.
“Present!” Gaara interjected harshly.
Orochimaru ignored him, it took a lot more to really piss him off.
“And the one in front of Gaara, is Neji Hyuuga. Then we have Naruto Uzumaki.” Orochimaru ended.
Naruto was beaming, and had his hand raised high.
“Naruto, what is it?” Orochimaru asked. He had had Naruto several times in class. He knew Naruto would continue to sit there, stupidly, until called upon.
“Um, what do we do if we have to take a piss…?” Naruto asked, embarrassed.
“Ah, there are bathrooms in the back. Bye, and don't think I know what your gunna do when I leave. Any sound, and I will be right back in here.” Orochimaru said, and was gone like that.
All five teenagers exchanged glances between each other. There was a deep silence among them. Each one waiting for the next to say something.
“Alright, so you guys better be fucking quiet. I plan on sleeping.” Gaara said, warningly, wondering why he was being this mean, all of a sudden.
He put his feet back up on the desk and pulled his cap down, covering his eyes. After a few minutes, he ceased moving, and everyone turned back around to leave him alone and not get on his bad side.
Everyone except Naruto Uzumaki.
Sasuke had his eye on Naruto, knowing he’d do something stupid and piss Gaara off.
“GAARA ARE YOU ALIVE!?” Naruto yelled against Gaara’s ear, successfully waking him up.
Sasuke swallowed. This was going to be a long day.
