The Journal

blah blah blah = Journal entries

Breaths misted in the air while children ran around laughing and playing. In the midst of the chaos that is the imagination, two men sat on a brown bench, bundled up against the autumn cold. They watched over two children, currently playing ‘ninja’ leaping from monkey bar to monkey bar. One man looked to the other, a golden eyebrow
raised, blue eyes inquisitive. The other frowned, turning his head away, watching the two little boys run around together. The brisk air chilled warm bodies, the taller man wrapping arms around him. The blonde looked over

“You cold Sasuke?” The man glanced over, black hair shimmering in the cool air. A fuzzy hat covering his head. Black bangs fell in front of the eyes, despite attempts to move it.

“hn” The blond gave an exasperated sigh, throwing his hands up before kicking a rock with his foot

“You ever think of the past Sasuke?” The other looked over, taking in the far off look that Naruto had. He nudged him lightly with his shoulder.

“Why?” Naruto turned, face in an expression of a concentration. Something that Sasuke deemed amusing to see on the others face.

“I, read up on some of our ancestry you know, I found something interesting.”

Naruto rummaged through the leather side pack slung on his shoulder, pulling out a brown leather journal wrapped in strings. It had a weird symbol on it, almost like a leaf if you unfocused your eyes long enough. Naruto slowly un-wrapped the strings. The book was worn, as if many hands had caressed its sides, fingers running down pages as lips silently repeated what the eyes took in.

“It was my ancestor’s book. Most of it was destroyed, but here, read this.”

He looked over to Sasuke, both glancing to the kids still running around. Sitting down a bench Sasuke pulled his glasses out, sliding them on and turning to the first page. Ruined. It wasn’t until the end of the book that something was readable. Leaning back, he began to read, Naruto sliding a hat onto his blonde hair while I watched the children. The excerpts were faded, words scribbled on in haste.

“It was painful at first. To know he left me. However, I had to get him back. It was my promise. I would go through anything to make it come true….”
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Feet leapt from branch to branch. Deftly moving the form from shadow to shadow with hardly a sound left in its wake. The figure never paused, pushing forward in a direction as though momentum is what pulled it along. Soon the trees had disappeared, feet crunching onto soil; the speed never changed. The figure now sprinted across the plain barren area before leaping once more into another grove of trees. A fist punched into the trunk of one tree, the trunk dissipating into the air. The shadow swayed, lurching forward, the tree left desolated in its wake.

When Night finally hit, the man slowed down. Finding a clearing in the trees and brush to set up camp. Simply a small fire and the hard ground. Warm firelight danced across grim features. Mouth turned down lowly, eyes lowered. Hands clenched beside him, digging into the thin layer of grass. With a soft grunt, the man pulled out a book, flipping through the pages until he landed on one half wrote on. Scribbles and pictures of trees and cities. Soon, he was writing, hunched close to the fire for lightly.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I do not know how long I have been gone from my home. I had to leave to find him.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Suddenly a flying object flew across the figures path. Blood spraying into the air as a cut appear on a whiskered cheek. Without warning a second, third, object flew his way. The figure dodged once more, slipping on the ground, rolling to avoid more kunai that shot from the surrounding shadows. Putting chakra into his arm, he launched himself up into a tree, landing on his feet, gripping the branch with a bloody hand. Dusk created a maze of darkened pathway and shadowed hiding place. This time the man launched his own attack. He could not sense any chakra, but aimed for areas the weapons had flown from earlier. His eyes narrowed before quickly launching several kunai. Clashes of steel meeting steel echoed in the shadows. Not giving the other time to reload, he leapt from the tree, keeping to the shadows. Suddenly, he felt it. That familiar chakra as it burned across his skin. Kunai speed his way, slashing into his shirt. Immediately after that, a ball of chakra hurtled into him. Quickly he formed a rasengan, using it to block the others attack. When the two attacks met, the area lit up, red eyes meeting blue ones.

The light faded and both dodged into the shadows. He flew forward. Eyes locked into the shadows. Sliding a kunai from his shirt, he pushed chakra into his legs, a burst of speed hurtling him forward. A flash of red, fire roared under his feet. Using a tree to brace himself on he leapt above the fire, rasengan appearing into his hand as he shot it into the darkness, steal cut through it. A set of red eyes glowed from the shadows, staring up at him. He paused for a spit second. Red eyes below narrowed before releasing a burst of chakra that scalded over the man's skin. Blue eyes closed, falling back and crouching on a tree. His breath labored those eyes. Both sets never left the other.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I did not know what I had had until he left. Without him, no. He already protected me I had to protect him. Even if it was from himself.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

He closed his eyes, gripping the trunk, fingers digging into the hard bark. Memories flashed through his head. The first time he had, meet him, the time he protected him. He had almost died! The man narrowed his eyes; a determined gleam appeared as he hurtled off the branch towards the other. He hit the dirt a few feet away, a kunai sliding from his sleeve as he leapt forward. The other man bent, katana gleaming silver light.

The man slid to the left, hands doing quick hand seals. The red eyes widened, narrowed, and then closed. Suddenly they opened, a new sharingan appearing. Blue eyes kept locked with their target. Feet bringing him closer. Suddenly shadow clones appeared, launching kunai and rasengan at the target. The man with red eyes smiled softly, the sword flashed, and electricity sizzled in the air. The man was now only a few inches from the other, their head turning, eyes locking. A kunai flashed, blocked by steel. Time slowed, breaths pausing as the two leapt away. Back into the shadows.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Yes, he was what I wanted. If I have to, I will walk every inch of this planet to catch him.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Suddenly the two burst out of the shadows. Careening over a field, speeding past weapons launched. The sun set over the horizon, as they got closer. Finally, the man cried out, a scream ripping out of his throat. Chakra gathered at his hand, flaring around him. He leapt, the attack smashing into the steel barrier. Eyes locked as the power snapped and clashed. Both slid away. Red eyes stared

“Naruto”

Nothing else as Naruto sped up, chakra danced around him, moving up his arm, over his shoulder, his head, and finally, his body.

“Sasuke!!!”

The growl hissed out, blue eyes slitting to red. Sasuke narrowed his eyes, fingers performing the seals for a fire jutsu. The fire only brushed passed Naruto. The two now meet, fiercely battling before leaping away. The moon hovered in the sky when Naruto tried to launch an attack. Sasuke dodged, gleaming steel sliding into Naruto's side. The blond faltered, falling back for a moment. Blood splattered onto the ground. Fingers pressed into the wound. Naruto looking forward, eyes still determined. Sasuke lowered his head, blood still covering the blade, looking out from a black curtain of bangs he smiled. Naruto whipped his hand, gripping a kunai and heaved himself towards Sasuke. Blood flowed from the wound, it was slowly healing, but he refused to have the help of the fox. The wound made him slow, several other attacks landing on him. Blood flew into the air, a drop landing on sasuke's hand. He closed his eyes and licked it off.

Naruto gasped, leaning slightly over, clutching his stomach and grimacing through the pain. He stood, pushing chakra into his feet to kept up with the fast man. He stumbled, falling forward. Sasuke walks up, pushing Naruto over with his foot. The black head tilts, eyes taking in his old teammate. Naruto had made wounds of himself on Sasuke. His eyes widened before jumping away, a rasengan exploding into the air around Naruto. The blond slowly stood up. Grinning and whipping blood from his mouth before spitting. His eyes gleamed red, lips stretching wide. The two paused. The air shimmered with the chakra, suddenly. Everything stopped as two huge attacks flared in the sky. Red danced with blue into the heavens. The force ripped off Naruto’s headband. His eyes never leaving Sasuke’s. He ran, continued running.

Cold steal stabbed into his body. His gripped the blade, a kunai shoving into Sasuke’s shoulder. Sasuke had lost the top half of his garment. Naruto’s head fell forward. Sasuke’s eyes wide. The attack was easily dodged. A weak chuckle echoed in the night. The head lolled up, Sasuke looking down as red bleed to blue. Blood trickled out of his mouth, blue eyes barley open.

“I never gave up”

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Who knew how much it would change me, going after him. The pain of having him back is worth the pain of getting him. Because…he is my other half…
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Sasuke held the blond close, eyes staring down. However, unlike the usual cold glare, there was a soft light. Something had broken in him. Broke when he had seen the blue eyes flash with knowledge. He had gone into the fight knowing this was the ending. Knew this would happen. Red went to black as Sasuke held the shoulders off the ground. Blood pooling around them both. Naruto grunted, pulling something out of his pocket. It was a forehead protector, scratched. He held it, weakly tying it around Sasuke’s arms before passing out. Sasuke stared, closing his eyes and leaning over the body, silent.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
You cannot function without your other half. I found that out when he left. He makes me stronger. And I have to be strong for him. That is out pact. Our promise…
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Sasuke leaned back, the laughter of the children slowly growing in volume. A hand on his shoulder squeezed. His eyes looked up, meeting concerned blue ones.

“Hey there.” Sasuke closed the book, a thumb running over the soft cover.

“I…”A finger brushed over his lips and Sasuke’s eyes darted up, Naruto grinned, his cheeks and nose flushed from the cold. “Think we should put one in...”

Nothing was said about the parallels of their own meeting. Their own fate. Naruto simply nodded, bending over, a hand gripping Sasuke’s shoulder tighter. Sasuke finally huffed and sent a light glare to Naruto, who only puffed his cheeks out then stood up, cocking his head to the side and grinning madly.

“Hey, off. Let’s go.”

Naruto chuckled, watching the dark haired man gather up the two children. The book sat in his hands now. He quickly took a pen out, scribbling, before setting it down on the bench to put the pen away. The pages fluttered, landing on the last section. It was in a different handwriting.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Without knowing it he had lead me closer. Drawing me back to his side. Now, now we have each other. Determined to meet the next morning together. I almost lost him a third time; this time would have been Farwell. I have been given another chance. Now I must protect it. I still have one goal, but now, I am whole. I am dark, he is light. Like morning and night, we must always be together.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

After a few moments, Naruto opened his eyes, meeting black orbs that hovered above him. He smiled, taking the hand offered. Slowly he got to his feet, leaning on the other for support…

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I am no longer afraid of my fate. I will grow as strong as possible to complete my goal. After that, lies home. Home with him. No longer an empty mansion. Not with my morning to shine beside my side. – Uchiha
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Naruto ran off, the children screaming happily. He grabbed the dark haired one, throwing the child into the air. The child gripped the shoulder. Laughter and giggles echoed off the trees. The family gripped hands as they walked home, Sasuke looking over to Naruto. Naruto smiled, ducking his head forward then looking to the sky. The children skipped ahead, calling for the two parents to hurry up.

“Neh, Sasuke, do you… “

“Shut up.”

Naruto looked over, to find Sasuke close to his face, lips pressing against his. A hand slid into blonde hair, as all the pain poured out, all the fears leaked out and dissipated.

“Sunshine, don’t worry so much” Sasuke grinned and walked off, Naruto staring blankly before glaring and chasing after him...

“Sunshine!!!!?! What kind of name is that, hey! Don’t walk off! Get back here…” The sounds faded as the family walked on. A book sat on the bench its pages fluttering around. As the wind calmed, the book had turned to the very last page. The ink was new, fresh bright black.
