One Week, My Love

Neko: Okay! For my return back to writing I’m going to try for a Shino/Sakura fluff one-shot… So here goes!

Gaara: Neko-sama does not own any of the Naruto characters or me *looks sadly at his leash that Neko grips tightly* Though she does keep me prisoner inside her mind… Help me…

~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~

It started simply enough with a simple butterfly following her about her daily chores around Konoha. She actually wouldn’t have noticed if Naruto hadn’t of said something, but as soon as he did she noticed the little blue butterfly everywhere.

Now normally this wouldn’t be a problem, a simple bug going everywhere you go, until you take into account who her actual friends were. A boy that could talk to dogs, another boy that could control your shadow, and yet another that, yes it’s true, could talk and control bugs. So with this in mind the pink-haired medic decided to have a little chat with the so named bug master.

Sakura took a deep breath before knocking on Shino’s door. It always made her nervous to come here since the first time she did his little friends had attacked her. Of course he’d told her they were just taking in her chakra reading so they could tell it was her from now on, but still, having the little things crawl all over you could really stick with you.

When there was no answer she decided that he wasn’t home… That was until she heard a groan of pain from inside. She knocked harder, calling out his name.

“Shino-san! Shino-san, I’m coming in!” She called before entering his apartment. Immediately she saw him lying on the floor, blood seeping from a kunai wound on his abdomen. “Shino!” She cried, running to his side.

She went to work, first detecting the source of the wound, and then repairing the damage. While she worked she noticed his bugs moving sluggishly, some dropping next to her in exhaustion. Apparently they’d been trying to repair the wound themselves, but it had been too much for the little guys.

Twenty minutes later Sakura leaned back on her haunches while Shino lay sleeping before her, fully healed.

“What am I going to do with you, hmm? You’re hurt yet you refuse to come to me for healing… Have I wasted all this time becoming a medic if I can’t even heal one of my friends when he’s in pain?” She asked herself softly.

“I would have come to you if I could have moved… It’s why I sent a messenger,” came his soft reply. Her eyebrows shot up.

“You sent it?” She asked, stating the obvious. She heard him chuckle softly as he sat up. “Hey, you shouldn’t move that much, you might tear something I just spent time fixing…”

“Sorry…” He said, laying back.

“So how long have you been here?” She asked.

“Almost three days… When we returned from our mission I tried to get to the hospital, but my body refused to work. So I came here and sent a messenger to get your attention. Why did it take you this long to get here?”

“Your messenger wasn’t a very good one, it just followed me everywhere, so I didn’t think anything of it,” she told him. His brows furrowed.

“I sent a beetle, it should have buzzed about your face until it got your attention,” he told her, confusion lacing his voice. “What species was following you?”

“A blue butterfly,” she told him, “I never saw one of your beetles, I would have known since I know what your bugs look like.” He was silent for a time.

“A blue butterfly, in my clan at least, is a call for a loved one…” He told her. She stared at him in shock. “My clan, when seeking out the one we love, sends a blue butterfly to find them and call them to us. It is a way of saying ‘I love you and miss you, come to me’.”

“But… why would it come to me? And what happened to your beetle?” She asked.

“I do not know, but I wish to find out…” He told her.

Shino entered his family home to a buzz of excitement. He blinked in surprise. His family usually only acted his way when there was going to be a wedding.

Seeking out his father, Shino found him in his office, with the clan elders.

“Shino,” his father said in greeting.

“Father. Elders,” he said with a bow of his head.

“Shino, we are glad you have come,” said the oldest of them all. “For we have decided on a wife for you.”

“A wife?” He asked, taking a seat before his father’s desk.

“Yes, the Hokage even agrees to the match!” The female elder said happily.

“And would this chosen woman be Haruno Sakura?” He asked, getting straight to the point.

“Yes, she would be the one. How did you ever guess?” The male elder asked.

“She noticed the butterfly following her, and she came to me to ask about it… Father, elders, I do not believe this match has any chance of working,” he told them.

“How so?” The female elder asked.

“Sakura-san is a friend, she does not see me as a romantic interest. I do not see how she will accept a proposal of marriage from the clan,” he told them. They thought over his words.

“Then you shall court her for a week, have lunch and dinner with her, get to know her every like and dislike,” the male elder told him.

“Yes, court her, then ask her to be your wife,” the female elder said.

“Will this work for you, Shino?” Shibi asked of his son. Shino sighed in defeat.

“I shall ask her, but do not count on anything,” he told them before leaving.

“Dinner?” Sakura asked. She stared at Shino for a moment.

“It is a thank you for healing me, but also I would like to discuss more about this butterfly incident. I believe there is more for you to know…” He told her. Sakura shifted the papers she held for Tsunade.

“Well okay then. Tonight? At your place?” She said. He nodded then poofed out. Sakura sighed before entering Tsunade’s office.

“Ah, there are the papers I needed,” Tsunade said, reaching for them as Sakura handed them over. “Also, Sakura, I have a little mission for you. Very easy.”

“Oh?”

“Yes, you are to marry Aburame Shino,” Tsunade told her.

“EH!?!” Sakura squeaked.

“Marry Aburame Shino, that is your mission,” Tsunade repeated.

“B-but, shishou, I barely know him!”

“Then I order you to spend the next week with him. Everyday you are to have lunch and dinner with him. Get to know his every move. Then, at the end of the week, I want you to report back to me everything you’ve found out about the Aburame. Then, when he asks you to marry him, say yes.” Sakura stared at her master in shock.

“Y-yes, shishou…” Sakura mumbled, before leaving the room.

So that night at dinner Sakura found herself blushing like crazy every time she even looked at Shino.

“Tsunade has given me a… very interesting mission,” she told him.

“It can not be nearly as interesting as the order my clan gave me today,” he told her.

“You first then,” she said, taking a sip of the wine he had poured. It was a delicious red.

“They ordered me to court you for a week, then ask you to marry me…” He told her. She nearly did a spit take with the sip of wine.

“Tsunade ordered me to date you for the week!” She exclaimed. He stared at her for a moment. Then she began to laugh while he chuckled. “So what do you say, Shino-kun? Want to spend the week with me?” He nodded.

“I would very much like to get to know you, Sakura-chan,” he said.

**********************

So for the next week they were forever seen together. Either getting a meal, sparring, or just spending time under the stars. And slowly, but surely, they began to fall in love.

Shino noticed just that second night that his heart would beat just a little faster when she smiled at him. That loved to hear her laugh. That she was beautiful.

Sakura spent the whole third night trying to see his face. She loved making him laugh while trying to get a glimpse.

The fourth night they spent under the stars watching the fireflies dance around them as they made up their own star constellations. That was the night he kissed her. With her face up to the full moon, her eyes shut listening to the sound of the night. He knew he had to kiss her. So taking her chin gently in his hand he captured her lips with his.

The fifth night she was called away for an emergency and they spent the night missing each other.

The sixth day he bought her a ring.

The seventh night her proposed…

And she said yes…

***************************

Sakura grinned to herself as she finished writing down her memories of falling in love with Shino. She sighed as she set down her pen.

“Are you done with your thoughts, Sakura-chan?” He asked from behind her, wrapping his arms around her shoulders and reaching down to rub her swollen belly.

“For today,” she replied.

“And what did you write about today?” He asked.

“Our week, my love,” she said before kissing him softly, while their baby kicked and moved inside her body.
