Note: In this fic, the Uchiha massacre never happened nor did the Kyuubi attack Konoha. I'm sorry for any grammar or typo mistakes, since I'm not a native speaker. Not beta-ed.

Chapter 1: Showdown in the forest

It should have been a simple mission. That's what they were told. Just some bandits who choose the forest surrounding Konoha as their new hideout. The orders were also simple: Find them and then capture them. Unfortunately, these so called 'bandits' are actually some S-class missing-nins.
And that's how they got into this mess.

'Damn Tsunade and her lack of information.' Were the angry thoughts of a very pissed Uchiha Sasuke. 'Simple my ass! I swear I'm going to kill her after this ordeal is over!' He was currently hiding behind a tree, a Kunai holding in both of his hands in front of his chest. Those damn bastards have actually managed it to separate him from his other teammates Haruno Sakura and Sai and their Sensei Hatake Kakashi.

Now he was all alone, injured, with three S-class missing-nins at his tail and no clue of his comrades whereabouts.. To make it worse his Chakra reserves were nearly empty. 'Shit...I have to find my teammates...or I'm fucked.' The Uchiha clutched his Kunai harder, sweat was running down his neck, midnight bangs plastered all over his face. The injuries weren't that bad. Some minor cuts over his chest, which already stopped bleeding. But he has a large gash from his left hip to the middle of his left thigh which made it hard form him to walk.

This wasn't all that bad. The thing which was really getting to him was, that he was poisoned. During their fight to split him from his team, one of the nuke-nins got him with his sword, which was – how surprising – poisoned. The raven looked at said wound on his right upper arm and gritted his teeth. He could feel the poison running through his system and he knew that he hasn't much time left before it would kill him. Closing his onyx eyes, he tried to sense the Chakra of his teammates, hoping that they were on their way to find him.

The snap of a tree branch brought Sasuke out of his concentration and he shot his eyes open, searching frantically for the source of the sound only to find one of his enemies standing before him.
“It seems we found you boy.” Said the man, a wicked grin on his pale ugly face. 'Shit.' Was the only thing the raven-haired boy could think of in his current state. A rustle of leaves could be heard, signaling the arrival of the second man of the three-cell group. Sasuke cranked his neck upwards to see the man standing above him on a tree branch, the same grin on his face like his teammate.

“Yes how bad for you, since we're going to kill you now.” sneered the third member, who stood directly behind him on the other side of the tree trunk the black-haired teen was leaning on.

“Have a last wish before we end this?” asked the first of the three the still silent raven, who in the meantime has moved into a fighting stance.

“Yes, for you to shut up!” replied the Uchiha angrily, before the raven suddenly lashed out, surprising the man with his action and successfully cutting 'ugly-face' forearm with his Kunai before he has an chance to dodge it. The two other men were jerked out of their sneering by their comrades scream of pain and rushed to his side. Sasuke was now surrounded by the two, ugly-face joined them, since he has already recovered from the Uchihas attack. The raven-haired teen reached for his weapon pouch, pulling out several Shuriken between his long slender digits.

Surveying the area and the men before him he moved into another fighting position, glaring daggers
at his enemies. 'I have to end this quickly and find Kakashi and the others.' The poison in his body has weakened him greatly and he really has to find a quick way out or this would be the last day for the youngest Uchiha prodigy. The others also have moved into a fighting stance, ugly-face with Kunais in both of his hands, the second man – who has piercing green eyes – has drawn his sword, yes this was also the bastard, who had poisoned the black-haired Chuunin. The last of them had drawn his Senbon needles, which were undoubtedly poisoned too.

And then the run was on. All three of them rushed at once at Sasuke, who jumped high in the air on a tree branch, throwing three Shuriken at the group in the process, who dodged them easily. Using the momentum for his advantage, he forced the last bit of Chakra into his feet jumping from tree branch to tree branch.

“Com back here you little shit!” and “Damn he tricked us!” were the angry shouts of Senbon-man and green-eye before they disappeared from his sight.

'I can't fight them. Not in in this condition, fuck...where the hell are my fucking teammates?!' seethed the running Uchiha mentally. He has to find them, quick, or those bastards will get him. Again trying to sense his comrades Chakra, but to no avail, since he was interrupted again...by a Kunai hitting the branch before him.

“Fuck.” was the raven only reaction besides lading gracefully – as much as he could do in his condition – beneath the embedded Kunai.
“I see you have realized the situation you put yourself into boy.” Was the calm reply from the crown of the tree, Sasuke was standing on and he knew that ugly-face was sitting above him, the same creepy smile on his face. 'Shit...Shit...Shit.' were the ravens panicked thoughts. He clenched his fists at his sides, trying to calm down his nerves. 'You can still make it Sasuke.' he reassured himself 'The other two haven't arrived yet.'

As soon as he finished his train of thoughts, said other teammates were landing just beside him.
“Did you really think you could escape us? Ha, how foolish.” spat the guy with the piercing eyes.
Senbon-man didn't say anything but attack Sasuke with tree of his needles. The Uchiha dodged the needles effortlessly with his Kunai, which was a mistake because green-eye suddenly rushed forward, delivering a kick in Sasuke's ribcage. The Chuunin stumbled backwards, not noticing ugly-face behind him who send another kick in his back, sending the Uchiha falling from the branch.

Hitting the forest floor with a groan, Sasuke managed to stand up again, but the three-men cell has already hopped down to join him on the ground. As soon as the Uchiha was standing straight again, ugly-face dashed into his direction, right hand pulled into a fist, punching the raven just square in the face. The black-haired teen stumbled backwards again, but this time he recovered fast from the blow and moved to the side just to avoid the oncoming spun-around kick from green-eye.

Now they were in the same situation just before Sasuke dashed off. He tried to activate his Sharingan but to no avail, because he didn't have enough Chakra left. Also his movements had slowed down, the poison paralyzing his body. Panting heavily, he tried to focus but his vision had already become blurry. 'This is the end.' He thought bitterly 'There is no way I'm going to get out of this.' He could hear the mens evil words and laughing but it was getting difficult which each passing second.

“Let's finish this already, I'm getting sick of this little piece of shit.” spat the Senbon-man venomously. He reached for his weapon pouch, pulling out another hand full of needles.

“This is the end boy.” Were ugly-face final words before he draw his sword, ready to cut trough the raven-haired Chuunin. He was interrupted by another member of their group, which jumped just between him and Sasuke. The new arrived comrade must be one of the other three who were fighting Sakura, Kakashi and Sai. Looking into the alarmed face of his teammate, the ugly-faced man arched an eyebrow at him.

“We have to leave!” The man shouted “That old hag Tsunade has sent all of her Jounin and ANBU teams after us, if we don't leave immediately we will be fucked!” While the man was ranting on, ugly-face expression changed from curious to down right pissed. “It seems we have no choice but to leave” he said with an calm eerie voice, which sent shivers down the other mens spines.

“And what's with that brat?!” Interjected green-eye, pointing a finger at Sasuke, who was fighting hard to stay conscious. Ugly-face just shrugged “He's got one of your poisons, hasn't he? He won't last long...and I doubt his teammates will find him in time” he said indifferently. Then he just turned to his teammates who nodded in return and in a second they were gone.

Uchiha Sasuke didn't get much of the conversation, the only thing he got was that they were gone and that last sentence the ugly-faced man said. Coughing up a load of blood, he slumped down on the ground. His mind dizzy from the pain the poison caused, his vision blurry and his body paralyzed. Breathing was getting more and more difficult for him which left him panting and gasping for air. He managed to roll on his back, starring at the midnight sky. He wondered if his teammates were OK and hoped that he was the only sacrifice in this battle.

With his last bit of energy he could hear a rustle of leaves and the light sound of two pair of feet walking on the ground. The sound came closer and closer until he felt a warm body beneath him. Sasuke looked up – only to find blue eyes starring at him before his vision blacked out and his eyes slid shut.
