“Damn it! My watch is broken! Look what you did, dobe!”
Naruto smirked as his boyfriend scowled at him. “Don’t blame me for your twenty-five cent watch breaking, teme.”
“Naruto, this watch cost more than your car.” Sasuke brandished the broken watch, making sure Naruto got a good look at it.
“My apologies, Sasuke. Don’t blame me for your fifty cent watch breaking.”
Sasuke made to comment again, but Naruto’s lips cut him off. He nipped at them to show he was still upset before yielding to the blonde’s advances. He moaned when Naruto’s slick tongue slipped into his mouth, rubbing enticingly against his own. Sasuke brought his hands up to clutch at the lapels of Naruto’s winter coat, bringing the taller boy’s body closer to his.
Naruto eagerly lessened the space between them, letting his hands slide lovingly over the Uchiha’s hips and around to the small of his back where his fingers pressed gently to tilt Sasuke into him that bit more.
As their hips came into contact, sparking a flame within his gut, a thought, thought many times before, began to build up in Sasuke; that at the end of this kiss, Naruto would go away and leave Sasuke all alone. And that thought led to another; that he was worthless, that Naruto really didn’t want to spend all this time with someone as damaged as him. Feeling so utterly unwanted, Sasuke just wanted to pull away from the other boy, even as he never wanted to let go.
Naruto felt Sasuke’s kiss lose focus and realized the boy’s fear must have surfaced again. He pulled back slowly, as if he was the one that wanted the kiss to end, licking the raven’s lips affectionately before looking into his eyes with a smile.
“Are we still good for tomorrow?”
Sasuke eyed Naruto for a moment, trying to find any trace of disappointment or anger, but smiled when he saw none. Naruto was the nicest person in the world, and Sasuke loved him more and more each day. He at least wouldn’t let those traitorous thoughts tell him otherwise.
“Of course, usuratonkachi.”
“Then tomorrow is when I shall see you. Night, Sasuke.” Naruto gave him a chaste kiss goodnight before walking away towards his apartment. He was hoping for a good night’s rest, since tomorrow was going to be one of the biggest days of his life, and when it was over, he hoped it to be one of the happiest, as well.
Sasuke watched Naruto until he disappeared, then turned to his own door. He couldn’t help but wish the other boy had requested to come in, or even stay the night. But doing so would have, more than likely, spurred Sasuke’s derogatory thoughts on, so Sasuke was also relieved. And if he were any kind of lover, he’d let Naruto help him with these fears of inadequacy, but his pride always got in the way, even if there was a part of him with the desire to lean on the blue-eyed boy that grew larger every day.
But that part that dug its heels in was still the majority, always screaming in Sasuke’s head that it would only end in hurt and tears, that he wasn’t good enough. He’d been through too much emotional pain in his short life to ever want to go willingly into something so committed. But Naruto made it more and more difficult to stick to those fears, almost making them seem silly.
Sasuke grumbled to himself, pulling out his key and jamming it into the lock fiercely. But before he turned it, he swallowed, not quite wanting to go in. It was always so lonely in his house, so cold. He was all by himself in the world, had been for so long until Naruto had come by and swept him off his feet. And yet, after Naruto left him night after night, the loneliness came back with a vengeance and plagued his dreams. Why hadn’t that dobe asked to stay the night?
Sasuke sighed and went inside. Loneliness or not, he just wanted to forget his troubles and bask in the warmth and love that Naruto showered him with as he lay down to sleep. It felt like tomorrow would be a big day, and Sasuke wanted to face it with excitement rather than anxiety.
~*~
Sasuke walked from his house quickly, wanting to be away from the isolated and cold feeling that hadn’t left him last night. Every step away from his home was one closer to Naruto, and Naruto was strength and warmth and love. It became a mantra for the raven as he walked, repeating over and over in his head.
When he spotted Naruto’s familiar form down the street, a slight smile graced his face, and Sasuke quickened his steps, almost slamming his body into the smiling blonde’s waiting arms.
Naruto’s warm, affectionate laugh spread through Sasuke’s body. He hugged him tightly before pulling back and kissing his boyfriend hello. Naruto’s smile was a beautiful thing, and Sasuke found himself wanting to do anything to see it.
“Happy Valentine’s Day, Sasuke.” Sasuke looked at Naruto quizzically before remembering that it was, in fact, the fourteenth of February.
“Happy Valentine’s Day, Naruto.”
“Shall we start our date, then?”
Sasuke blinked. “We’re going on a date for the whole day?”
Naruto smirked at him. “Unless, of course, there’s someone else you’d rather spend the whole day with?”
Sasuke grunted, showing how stupid the question was. “So where are we going?”
“I thought the amusement park would be a great start.” Naruto offered his arm, and Sasuke scowled, thinking it a bit silly to do something so cheesy. But he took it anyway, a blush suffusing his pale cheeks. So much for facing the day without anxiety.
~*~
Naruto fingered the present in his pocket as he and Sasuke approached his door. The adorable raven had wanted to be the one to walk him home tonight, and Naruto really couldn’t refuse since it went so perfectly with his plan.
“Well, thank you for the wonderful date, Naruto.” Naruto watched as Sasuke’s eyes became shadowed, and the blonde frowned. Sasuke was always like this when the day was over, looking lost and afraid whenever Naruto walked away, left him alone. And it always happened when the raven was near his house; now, even, as the Uchiha thought about walking home.
That was why Naruto was determined to do this. Sasuke looked hesitant as he leaned in for their goodnight kiss, but Naruto stopped him with a gentle hand on his cheek. Those deep, black eyes looked at him in question, and he smiled.
“I have something for you, Sasuke. Please accept it.” Naruto pulled the brightly wrapped package from his pocket and handed it to the pale youth.
“Naruto…” Sasuke took the present from him, looking slightly upset, probably because he hadn’t been able to get Naruto anything. Then his features smoothed out, and he smirked up at the blonde.
“What?” Naruto asked, his eyebrow quirked.
Sasuke lifted the rectangular box and tapped it against Naruto’s chest. “Looks like someone’s feeling guilty about breaking my watch.”
Naruto snorted. “Just open it, teme.”
Sasuke frowned slightly and brought the box back to him, his hands delicately ripping the wrapping from the box. Naruto moved around to Sasuke’s side, letting the shorter boy lean into his chest.
As the paper fell away, and Sasuke opened the box, Naruto could feel when the Uchiha registered what was inside. He looked down as well, eyeing the golden key within, waiting patiently for the Uchiha’s reaction.
“Naruto? What is this to?”
Naruto smiled and kissed Sasuke’s temple.
“What is this to?”
Naruto reached into the box and brought the key out, placing it in the raven’s free hand.
“What. Is. This. To?” Sasuke certainly didn’t sound happy.
“Open the door, Sasuke,” Naruto whispered into his ear.
The shorter boy didn’t move for a moment, and then he stretched his shaky hand to the lock, pushing the key in harshly, maybe thinking it would repel him. When he didn’t move to turn the key, Naruto lightly put his hand over the Uchiha’s, and they turned it together. Naruto moved his hand to the doorknob and pushed the door open.
Sasuke stood staring into the entryway, the same one he’d seen for years, like he hadn’t ever seen it before. Naruto chuckled and wrapped his arms around the speechless boy.
“Come live in my house, Sasuke. Be mine.”
It sounded cheesy, but Naruto meant it. He wanted Sasuke completely. Not just his body, his sweet kisses, or his thoughts. He wanted Sasuke’s past, his present, and his future. He wanted Sasuke’s loneliness so he could squash it completely with his ever-present devotion to the lithe boy in his arms.
Sasuke’s breath hitched, and he spun quickly in Naruto’s arms, surprising the blonde. He clung to Naruto’s front, pulling at the taller boy’s back to get closer and closer.
“Sasuke?”
He got nothing more than a frantic nod into his shoulder, but it was all the answer he needed. Naruto squeezed Sasuke to him, whispering into his ear as he nuzzled the soft, black locks that he loved so much.
“Welcome home, teme.”
