Putting Out the Lantern

It was fairly safe to say the coast was clear. Police sirens died out in the distance, but he waited, just to be sure. Sweat made peices of his black hair stick to his forehead and neck and dark eyes quickly scanned the room. It was pure luck, really, that this window had been open. Sasuke still wondered how he had spotted it from the street four levels down. But it didn't matter how, he was safe for the time.

Standing up quietly, Sasuke realized he was in someone's bedroom. But the bed was still made up and tidy. The door to the hall was open and flashing lights accompanied with a dull noise said a television was on. Less in boldness and more in a lack of caring, Sasuke moved into the hall way, boots silent on the carpeting. The apartment was dark except for the television that illuminated the couch and coffee table in front of it.

He took the few steps around the couch to glance down on it's sleeping occupant. A girl? No, a boy? A pretty boy. Blonde hair splayed over the pillow in dire need of a cut, and a round face remained peaceful in sleep. Very pretty boy. Sasuke, not sure of what he was doing, leaned down to examine his face further. There was something on his cheeks, but in the dim lighting he couldn't make out what. Light breathing ghosted over his face and Sasuke moved back, he hadn't realized he had gotten that close.

Standing to leave the way he came, a noise drifted up above the television's light racket, car doors slamming. As silently as ever, Sasuke rushed back into the bedroom and peaked down through the window. The cops. Just as he showed his face, a man on the street pointed up to where he was and two of the cops bolted into the building.

"Shit."

A cop below and more on their way up, he was trapped. He had to hide. Sasuke backed away from the window too quickly and collided with a floor lamp, knocking it to the ground. He hissed and froze, hoping he hadn't awoken the boy on the couch. New adrenaline pumped through his veins and his heart stopped beating when he heard the television go off.

'Shit.'

"Is someone there?"

Sasuke moved to the other side of the bedroom not visible through the door. He listened hard and, after a few moments, he heard soft footsteps approach the room.

"Is anyone there?" the voice came again, just outside of the room. In the dark, he saw two hands holding a gun enter the room, preceding the blonde. Sasuke went unnoticed at first, but there was no where to duck and hide. He swallowed hard, and apparently, the blonde heard it. He swung the gun around and aimed it at Sasuke.

"Don't move!"

Sasuke did as he was told, 'screwedscrewedIamsoscrewed...'

"Who are you?" The blonde glared a him, not faltering. In truth, he could barely see in the dark.

"Please don't shoot me-"

"What are you doing in here?"

Sasuke's breathing was quick, "I-I just needed a place to hide."

"Hide from what?" Just as the words left his mouth, there was knocking at the front door and a muffled, "Police! Open up!"

Sasuke fell to his knees.

"Hide from the police?"

"Please, you have to help me-"

"Why? You broke into my apartment." There was more knocking, a bit harsher.

Sasuke could hardly breath now, "Please, I wasn't going to hurt you. I don't even have any weapons, I just needed to hide." He started grasping at straws, "look, if you help me, I will do...anything. anything in return. Please."

The blonde's eyes flickered a moment, thinking, calculating, "anything?"

"Anything."

With a heavy huff, the blonde lowered the gun and looked towards the front of his apartment where the knocking had surely awoken the neighbors already, "fine. Take off your clothes."

Sasuke breathed again with the agreement, but almost stuttered, "what?"

"You're lucky I don't like cops," the blonde had already started stripping, hiding the gun in the bedside table. He yanked the bed blankets back, "what? Shy?"
When Sasuke didn't move, he marched over and started to undress the stranger himself, muttering, "I really hope you're hot."

"What are you doing?!"

Surprising blue eyes that seemed to glow in the dim light met his sharply, "hiding you."

When the police finally got the door open, they rushed into the apartment, searching every room and quickly making it to the back bedroom.

"Police! Freeze!" Instead of finding the possible gang related vandalizer they had been trying to catch for months, they switched the lights on to a very good reason no one had answered the door. The two people in the bed ubruptly stopped their activities and what was first thought to be the woman, shot up with a horrified gasp and pulled the sheets up around his and his partners midsections.

"What the hell is going on?" the blonde man sat up while the black haired one tried to hide his red face. Sasuke felt like his heart was in his throat.

'What the hell?'
