Ghost Story: Naruto Edition

This story is part of a series that I’m beginning, it was inspired by Anais Wannabe “Ghost Story” I found it very interesting and decided to take characters from my favorite series/games and put them in similar situation. Some character will encounter more than one ghost while other will have company will being fucked up by the supernatural. Finally this series is open to the public meaning that if anyone out there read any of the stories and want to put their story into the series they are more than welcome to, each story in each category will be open so that you may be allowed to add your story if you have trouble adding your story e-mail me your story then I will add it for you making sure that you get the full credit my address will be at the bottom of this story only!

Why you shouldn’t be out at night alone?

“Why you shouldn’t be out at night alone, especially on the night of the new moon?” Tsunade asked turning to face the young shinobi who wanted to know.

“Well, Naruto it just that everybody is a little superstitious when it comes to the night of the new moon” she said sitting down looking at the new reports as well as tonight night shift. “Many believe that the moon’s light ,or some unknown power it have, keep the spirits of the dead at bay, for the most part, but when it gone it is believed that the dead walk among us seeking those foolish enough to be out alone. Whether or not that is true is yet to be seen or reported but for the most part no one in the Village Hidden in the Leaves is allowed to do anything by themselves.”

“Is that why I was summon by you because there someone that doesn’t have a partner for tonight shift?” Naruto asked his blues eyes brighten up hoping that he was needed for his village already getting into a fighting stance throwing punches at the air. “I’ll show you what the future Hokage is capable of!!!”

“Enthusiasm noted but your only half right.” she said giggling as she watched as Naruto fell over his dream/spotlight of moment was shattered. “In reality we short on Jounins and Chuunins for tonight patrol watch so we’re putting some highly qualified genins on tonight patrol. You’ve been selected however we kinda short on qualified genins and the area that you’ll be assigned to is rather small so that why I decided to team you up with these two.” With that she gave a wave and the door open and in came to very familiar figure, the ever silent but quick thinking Shino and the genius Genin the raven haired Neji.

“So I will be teaming up with these two, alright, no problem!!! I will make tonight patrol so good it will be the standards to look up to.” Naruto said giving his traditional thumb ups sign to Shino and Neji. “Believe it!”

“Don’t get cocky Naruto, tonight is the night that the spirits roam freely. Even then the enemy may use the cover of the night to strike us.” Neji said cautious as always and almost emotionless.

“I ain’t afraid of no spirits.” Naruto said facing Neji.

“Good then you’re not afraid of GHOSTS then cause that what usually attack people on these moonless night.” Tsunade said smiling as Naruto tried his best as not to turn into a mass of shivering bones knowing full well that Naruto couldn’t stand ghosts. “At any rate the three of you get some sleep and be at your assigned area by 9:00 sharp your shift will end at sun rise with that you’ll get the next day off in both training and missions. I have Shizune give Naruto the location of your assigned area since, I can’t believe I’m saying this, he’ll will be squad leader.”

This statement floored everybody even the emotionless Shino. Naruto fell to the floor then sat back up cleaning out his ears not believing what he heard. Neji just stood there looking at her in disbelief just like Shizune they couldn’t believe she was going to put the village most hyperactive knucklehead ninja in charge of this team. “I just did Naruto you are in charge,” Tsunade said “if you want to be the next Hokage then you need to know how to lead a squad just as well as a village. And that is final you are all dismiss.”

That night near the remote edges of the forests that surrounds their village, the three Genins gathered, to Neji and Shino surprise Naruto was the first to be there, waiting for them to show up. He was leaning up against a tree his arms crossed and head tilted down a little. The other two walked up thinking he was asleep only to have that thought shattered.

“Good we’re all here let’s start this patrol let’s move out.” Naruto said walking away from the tree.

“Who are you really?” Shino asked “the real Naruto is always late.”

“This is the first time I’m in charge of a squad instead of the third wheel so I don’t want to be taken lightly. I have to be serious, though I hate to admit that grandma Tsunade is right, it my first big step to become the next Hokage.” Naruto said.

“Don’t worry Shino I just checked him out with my Byakugan and he’s not an enemy in disguise.” Neji said still a little unsure of Naruto being the leader of this team. “At any rate we must do as our leader order, so let’s begin our patrol so how shall we begin, Naruto?”

“For now we just stay together and keep our guard up as Neji pointed out earlier the enemy may strike us under the cover of darkness.” Naruto said the other nodding their head in agreement. “Good our area is the forest that lies between Lake Tsuna and Lake Merosa (author note: I made these up so if they exists in the show it was huge guess but they probably don’t.) we’ll stick to the ground but Shino could you use your beetles to keep an eye out in the trees above us?”

“No problem.” Shino stated already letting out a small group of beetles for patrolling the tree-lines.

“And I, Naruto, am doing what? Sir.” Neji asked.

“For now guard our rear while I take on the front after every two hours the two of us will switch positions, while Shino cover the trees with his beetles and our sides with his eyes and ears. Understood?”

“SIR!!!” they both said simultaneously.

Their patrol was for the most part uneventful but Naruto showed that he was more suited to leading as he was keeping his guard up and checking on the others and getting a status report, as well as looking for any opening in their patrol and pointing them out even if it was his own. Also any sign of trouble, or what may be consider trouble, Naruto checked it out by sending in a shadow-clone to spy on. For the most part it was nothing but wild animals and other patrol members, nothing serious to worry about but they didn’t lack about it either not even Naruto, he was being serious about this patrol tonight.

It was until 1:00 in the morning when Naruto’s acute hearing heard the sound of footsteps in the far distance. They were heavily armed and where heading southeast of their current positions, right towards the village, but he also could hear the same sounds to the northwest and were heading the same directions.

“Neji use your Byakugan to check out these direction and quick!!” Naruto silently ordered pointing in the direction of the sounds he was hearing stopping them in the process.

“Your right Naruto I can see three men heading towards the village arm to the teeth they appear to be rouge ninjas as they aren’t wearing any recognizable clothing of any village.” Neji said looking in both in direction. “There are at least three south of us and two north of us. What shall we do? I believe Shino and I can take them both on by ourselves.”

“No,” Naruto said shaking his head no as well. “We don’t know how many there really are south of us and you may fall into a trap.”

“So we let them go?” Neji asked.

“NO!! Instead I’ll take the ones north of us you go to the south and check on them and take Shino with you as backup, I will be okay since I can summon shadow-clones for back up if needed. So let’s split up and meet back here when were done!” Naruto said throwing a kunai into a tree to be a locater.

They took off in the direction told by Naruto. It wasn’t very long before Naruto found them despite the great distance, there was three of them in reality, they had stop moving and were talking softly. “Look, all we came here to check to see if this area would be could to invade so that we could rebuild our clan but this area belongs to the Leaf ninjas and we don’t stand a chance against them.” guy #1 said.

“You’re right but what about the others they are still ahead of us we need to warn them or they could die, there aren’t many left of people.” Guy #2 said.

“Their not that stupid once they realize who they are dealing with they will turn tail and retreat as fast as they can move.” Guy #3 stated.

“Right let’s get out of here before we’re found and report that we need to relocate.” Guy #1 stated.

They took off and Naruto sighed relieved that he didn’t have to fight. He got up from his hiding spot and head back to the others where they were suppose to meet. On his way back Naruto couldn’t help feel like that somebody was watching him but every time he looked around there was no one near by nor could he hear anyone.
