Chapter 1
A/N: Hi everyone! This is my first work of fan fiction so I really hope you will R/R so I can get some good feedback. I will update often so be sure to check back for new chapters!
Inhaling the cool morning air of Kohana, Uzumaki Naruto, the recently selected 6th Hokage of the Hidden Leaf Village, slowly strolled along his usual morning path. He reveled in the warm feeling in his chest as he took in the quiet sunrise knowing he finally had a family: this village. It had been a long time since Naruto first set his mind to becoming the Hokage, and now that his dream was finally realized, he figured out that he no longer wanted it to be recognized, but because he cared about the well-being of every villager.
It had been almost ten years since he first wore his ninja headband, and now that he was Hokage he was feeling a lot of pressure from himself to settle down and start his own clan.
He rounded the corner of a still-closed Ichiraku Ramen to find Rock Lee crouching low to the ground panting heavily.
“Lee, what the hell are you doing?” questioned Naruto with a raised eyebrow.
“Good morning, Hokage-sama. I see that you are out for a morning walk. I am doing my morning workout. Five thousand sit-ups, push-ups, and a twenty-mile run! You caught me right after my run,” replied Lee before standing proudly extending his arm to a thumbs-up and flashing a gleaming smile. Lee was always happy to see Naruto because he was so proud of the new Hokage.
With a chuckle, Naruto just rolled his eyes and said, “Well, good luck with the rest of your workout.”
Naruto’s back straightened in alert as he saw Lee’s moment of contemplation. “Hokage-sama, I challenge you to a rock-paper-scissors match. If you win, I’ll do five hundred laps around the village on my hands!”
“And if you win?”
“Hmmm,” contemplated Lee, “You give me ‘mission’ to get some Curry of Life!”
“Awesome! Deal!”
They simultaneously shouted, “ROCK-PAPERS-SCISSORS-SHOOT!”
There in between them was an extended rock for Lee and an extended paper for Naruto.
“I must say, Naruto-sama, I was looking forward to the Curry of Life, but I will still enjoy my training you have now put forth!” said Lee with a gleaming smile, and quickly went into a handstand to begin his laps.
Silently chuckling and shaking his head, Naruto turned to leave Lee to his “punishment.”
“Seriously?” Kakashi said causing Naruto to look up to find his ex-sensei on Sakura’s balcony. “You and Lee are weirder than Gai and me.”
“Trust me, Kaka-sensei, no one is weirder than you two. Hey, why are -”
Naruto got a warm smile in response shown only through an eye crease since the other three quarters of Kakashi’s face was covered in his mask before Kakashi disappeared. Naruto just shook off the previous moment to finish his walk. He journeyed through the waking village before he would set off to do some training of his own in order to stay in mission shape. Everyone in the village knew the Hokage’s schedule and knew not to send for him directly until the hour before lunch time.
When he finally returned to his office, on his desk stood a mound of papers. He approached the desk with a grunt. This whole Hokage thing seemed way cooler in theory, he thought as he plopped down into his chair. On top of the pile sat a letter from Gaara, the Sand Village’s Kazekage. Naruto eagerly tore it open.
Dear Naruto,
In celebration of my sixth birthday since I was brought back to life, my siblings are throwing a gala. I would like for you to come and bring your friends. Also, please bring Kakashi since he is also a good friend to the Sand Village and me.
Gaara
Wow, thought Naruto, it’s very unlike Gaara to have a party. Then, it hit him… he would not have a date causing him to shift uneasily in his chair. He would have to gather his friends to see who would want to come along. Since they were in a time a great peace, he knew they could handle to leave the village for one week especially with so many of the genin growing stronger in preparation of the chuunin exams.
“Konohamaru!” shouted Naruto.
In shuffled Konohamaru, Naruto’s apprentice and assistant. “Yeah, boss?”
“I need you to gather Ino, Shikamaru, Chouji, Lee,” Naruto listed while Konohamaru quickly scribbled, “Tenten, Neji, Hinata, Shino, Kiba, Sakura, Sai and Kakashi. Bring them to my office immediately. I need to make some big plans.”
“Right, boss!” and then Konohamaru ran out of the Hokage’s office and rounded the corner to set off on his in-village mission.
There they all stood; a group of Leaf ninja that have served the village together for over a decade. It had been a long time since they had gathered in one setting.
“Naruto-sama, is everything okay? To have summoned us all could not be a good thing!” exclaimed Lee.
“It’s been almost six years since we went on the rescue mission to save Gaara. He’s throwing a party and has invited all of us,” calmly replied Naruto.
“WHAT? YOU DRAMATICALLY SUMMONED ALL OF US HERE FOR A PARTY?!” shouted Sakura as she began rolling up one of her sleeves.
“Oi! Oi! Take it easy, Sakura,” laughed Kakashi.
Sai discreetly took a step away from Sakura, which had become instinct since she had unexpectedly clabbered him far too many times.
“Okay, so Gaara’s throwing a party. What’s the plan?” asked Kiba.
“It takes three days to get to the Sand Village, and three days to get back. So, you’d be getting one week off to go. As Hokage, I am leaving, as well, but will be leaving the village well guarded. So I need to know, who would rather stay behind than go?” asked Naruto.
Everyone shifted to look at Shino.
“What? Just because I am me, you think I’d distain an event like this?” Shino asked.
With a raised eyebrow, Naruto asked, “Well, do you want to go?”
“No,” Shino simply replied.
“This much I figured, so you will be in charge of administrative village work while I am gone,” said Naruto.
“What?! Just because I’m staying behind doesn’t mean I should get stuck with-“
“Aw, come on Shino. Just do it! Play Hokage for a week!” teased Shikamaru.
“Whatever,” mumbled Shino, which was the closest he was going to go to saying ‘yes.’
“Ossu! It’s settled. Now, on the next bit of business… Sakura-chan, do you want to go with me… as my date?” asked Naruto with a nervous bite to his bottom lip.
“WHAAAT?! Nooooo! What makes you think I’d want to go with you?”
Naruto sweat-dropped as he waved his hand in dismissal everyone to meet back ready to leave in two hours. Obviously becoming Hokage did not make him any more appealing to the opposite sex.
