The Last Song
Pairings: Deidara/Sasori with side pairings of Hidan/Kakuzu, Kisame/Itachi, and maybe some mild Naruto/Sasuke for kicks later on.
Rated: M because of Hidan's foul mouth, and maybe some light citrus flavoring in the future.
Chapter One: All Tied Up
“Hidan you freaking jerk! This is not what I signed up for, un! Let me go already!”
“Stop your fucking whining already, we're almost there,”
“I mean it, un! Let me out!”
“Will you two please stop fighting? I'm trying to figure out how much this is going to cost me,”
“You better fucking shut up to Kakuzu, I'm getting a headache from him fucking screaming,”
“Hidan, stop swearing so much.”
“You too Kisame! Shut the fuck up!”
Deidara glared at the back of his white-haired friend's head while he struggled with the jump rope keeping him tied up to the door of the van they were in. He had been tricked into getting into the van earlier that day when Hidan told him they were going to the firework shop to buy some rockets. Now he was on some stupid trip across the state to see some band he had never heard of all because Hidan 'didn't want to be fucking lonely'. Not even the usually understanding Kisame who was seated beside him would untie the rope. This really sucked.
“Why is this stupid band so important that you have to drag me along anyway, un?” The blonde mumbled as he stopped struggling for the first time. He had been friends with Hidan long enough to know he wasn't going to get out of this that easily. This wouldn't be the first time Hidan practically kidnapped him to go on some weird trip like this. Just last month he had been woken up in the middle of the night, handcuffed, gagged, and thrown into the back of the van where he was driven to a local theatre and was released to watch a horror film with the older man and the rest of his friends.
“Because Heaven's Avengers are only going to be playing at this club for a couple of weeks before their guitarist has to go back to fucking school for the year. I've been waiting all fucking year for this! Woot!” He cheered releasing the steering wheel for a few seconds almost sending them skidding into a lamp post before gaining control of the car. Why Kakuzu let Hidan drive was anybody's guess.
Deidara sighed and glanced at Kisame who was tapping his hand in rhthym with the harsh metal music Hidan was blaring through the speakers. “Kisame, why did you agree to come along if not to release me from that mad man's custody?”
Kisame dug through his shoulder bag and showed him a page torn from some pop magazine. Deidara glanced at it before roling his eyes. “ I never thought you'd be the type of guy to go fangirl mode over some singer, un. Seriously?”
The eldest of their little group grinned sheepishly as he looked the picture over. “He's a good looking guy though, ya know? Plus Hidan let me listen to their songs, and he can sing.” He stuffed the picture back into his bag and went back to tapping to the beat.
Up front beside the manic psychopath, Kakuzu was counting out the money for the tickets for the fifth time. “Hidan you gave me the extra fifty for Deidara's ticket, right?”
“Yes you bitch! Stop asking me for it already! You're such a fucking shithead over the stupid funds!”
Deidara tuned them out as he thought about why he started to hang out with these people in the first place. He remembered that he had met Hidan when he was a freshman in highschool. Hidan had been one year over him having failed three times leaving him stuck in sophmore year at the age of nineteen. At first they hadn't got along, and then Hidan let loose a string of fireworks in the art department one day. They had been friends ever since. Deidara had met the miserly Kakazu through Hidan the next year. Kakuzu owned a small bar where Hidan had frequented illegally until he turned twenty-one. It was a strained relationship that one. They bickered all the time. Kisame was a bartender at Kakuzu's place and was usually the one to break the fights up. Deidara thought of him as an older brother figure. Even with all their weird quirks, Deidara knew he would be stuck with this group for life.
“Holy shit look at that line!” Hidan yelled pulling up to the parking lot. “I fucking told you we had to get here earlier, but no, you had to bitch about how we'd use less gas if we went later!” He snapped at Kakuzu, who didn't even flinch as he straightened out the mask over his face and sorted out the money one last time.
Kisame whistled at the sight of hundreds of people lining up to get inside the arena. “He's right, we'll be lucky to get nosebleed seats with that crowd there. Are you sure about the ticket price Hidan?”
“Yes I'm sure! I checked the website like, ten fucking times so the bitch here would be happy. Now help me look for a place to park.”
Deidara looked out the frosted window of Hidan's old van at the hundreds of cars parked here and there. He noticed an empty spot and told Hidan where to go. Once parked Kisame untied Deidara, who hugged him thankfully and rubbed his now sore wrists.
“Why do you always insist on the jump rope? It leaves these stupid cuts in my wrist, un,” Deidara complained not getting an answer as he hopped to the ground and adjusted the black hoodie he had on and dusting off his trip pants. All of them were decked out in some form of usually rock concert wear (most of them usually dressed like that), even Kakuzu. Hidan was the most extravagant with a white t-shirt ribbed down the middle with fake (or possibly real knowing Hidan) blood stains on the front, torn up jeans with more red stains, tons of metal jewelry and a fresh piercing in his ear to go along with the eight others.
Beside him Kakuzu wore his normal mask over his face with a black bandanna covering his lanky black hair and a longsleeved shirt and gloves with his black jeans. Deidara had rarely seen the man without his mask, but knew he was covered in strange stitches and scars. He never asked for fear of what the man might say. Kisame was the most basic with a t-shirt with music notes on the frontand blue jeans with one tear in the right knee. He had one ear pierced as jewelry. Deidara thought he looked really cool.
“Fucking shit, will everyone get out of our way!” Hidan screamed at the crowd of gossiping girls and men with mulicolored mohawks. “I want to get in this century people!” Hidan was an intimidating fellow and most of the crowd moved to let them by. Deidara trekked behind Kisame as he chuckled at some of the girls frightened looks. Concerts newbies, they were always amusing.
An hour and a half later they were at the ticket window and Kakuzu surprised them all by pulling an extra hundred out of his pocket to secure for them the last floor spots. Hidan looked like he wanted to kiss the man senseless as he was given his ticket. Deidara smiled and thanked the older man and stuffed his ticket into his back pocket. It was a very rare occasion that Kakuzu spent like that.
“So, this 'Heaven's Avengers', are they any good, un?” Deidara asked Kisame as the two of them went alone into the arena while Hidan had dragged Kakuzu off somewhere, presumably to thank him properly for the tickets in some way Deidara didn't want to think about.
Kisame nodded as he handed his ticket to the aging man taking them. “Oh yeah, the singer, Itachi, has this like, dark mysterious voice that'd drive you nuts! He started the band with his little brother and cousin a few years ago along with a couple of friends, and they hit the big time fast. It helps that they're all pretty good looking.”
Deidara gave his friend a look of disbelief. “I change my mind, you're not 'fangirlish', you're an actual fangirl. How the hell do you know so much about them?”
Kisame dug through his bag and pulled out yet another magazine tear out. “They did an interview for last week's Rock Century.”
Deidara took the page and looked each of the members over. He recognized the singer from the picture Kisame had shown him earlier sitting in a chair looking very distant and dark. A younger boy stood beside him who must be his younger brother the resemblance was so uncanny. A tall man with a strange orange mask was jumping up in the air while a man with half his face painted black leaned against the wall watching him amused, as if he knew the orange masked man was going to get hurt when he crashed to the ground. The last member caught Deidara's more than the others simply because he had a painting behind him featuring an atom bomb exploding. He had pure red hair and a smirk on his lips. He was quite sexy.
“Who's this guy?” Deidara asked his friend pointing the red haired man.
Kisame took a glance and rolled his eyes. “What is it with you and explosions?” He said referring to the picture. “That's Sasori, he plays the synth.”
“Cool,” He gave the page back and stuffed his hands into his pocket as they took their places near the stage and waited for their friends to get back. The stage was curtained off, but through the cries of the crowd Deidara could hear a few chords as the opening act warmed up. He glanced around at the bodies near him before looking up at the vaulted ceiling. He sure hoped this concert was worth the fifty Hidan had stolen from his savings to pay for the way in here. He had been saving up to buy a new potter's wheel for his basement.
“Hey,” Kakuzu said appearing beside them.
“Hey,” Deidara said in return. “Where's the loud one at?”
“He said he had to go to the bathroom and he'd be back soon,” The man replied checking his watch. “What time is this supposed to start again?”
Kisame glanced at his own watch as well. “In about fifteen minutes. Ooo, I can't wait! This is going to be awesome!” He bounced on the balls of his feet looking at the stage with anticipation. “I'm so glad Hidan brought us here. Thanks so much for paying the extra so we could be in the front Kakuzu,”
Kakuzu nodded. “Its coming out of your paycheck,”
Kisame's face fell as Deidara chuckled. He should have known Kakuzu would do that. He groaned suddenly realizing he would have to pay him back as well. Owing Kakuzu money was like having an elephant with a cold around you. It was never good. Hidan showed back up at that moment stuffing something into his pants pockets and when questioned he said it was some trash from some gum. Deidara didn't believe him, but kept his mouth shut as the curtain fell away revealing the opening act.
The group wasn't bad, and Deidara recognized one of the songs they sang from the radio and sang along with them. He smiled having a pretty good time. This was almost worth getting tied up and drove five hours away from home. Hidan had walked away to get a few people interested in a mosh pit for when Heaven's Avengers got on stage and Kakuzu was keeping an eye on him in case he damaged something he would have to pay for. Deidara nodded his head in time like Kisame was doing and laughed.
Soon the opening act finished and the stage went black. Deidara instinctively huddled closer to Kisame since some jerk and pinched his butt earlier mistaking him for a girl. He heard footsteps on the stage and suddenly the arena lit up with sparks from the front, making Deidara's heart race in awe at the explosion. Figures could be seen standing on the stage as the sparks faded away. Another round went off and a loud guitar chord got everyone screaming. One last big explosion and the room lit up again to show Heaven's Avengers in all their glory getting ready to rock.
Hidan ran off to the mosh pit as the band started a loud, pulsating song to begin with. Kisame grabbed Deidara'a shoulder as he stared as Itachi started to sing. Deidara had to admit, his friend was right about that dark beautiful voice he had. It was a mix of powerful and tantalizing, pulling at every emotion Deidara had inside of him at the time. His eyes roamed the stage at each member in turn as he got into the music. This was going to be a great show.
“Good to be here in Stanford Hall,” Itachi said once the song ended. His long black hair that was pulled back into a messy ponytail as long bangs fell over his face. He pushed some of them aside and leaned a bit to the side as he continued to speak. “We're Heaven's Avengers, good to see you all.”
The drummer suddenly bounced away from his seat and grabbed the mic. “HELLO PEOPLE! I'M TOBI AND I'M A GOOD BOY!” He screamed at the top of his lungs. Deidara winced at the sound as girls cheered in response. He must do this all the time to have that kind of following. Deidara just found it highly annoying.
Itachi gently pushed the man back and took the mic away. “Sorry, he does that.” Tobi bounced for awhile before going back to his drum set. “Anyway, let's do this,” His brother gave him a chord and another song started.
Deidara shook his head at the strange band. No wonder Hidan liked them. He looked over to the synth player and smiled. That was how band members were supposed to act. Sasori had his hair pulled back by a black bandanna and wore a red shirt with a picture of a scorpion on the front. His eyes were set on his keyboard and he played like nothing else in the world mattered. Deidara appreciated that over the brash drummer.
Next to him Kisame was in heaven listening to Itachi's voice. Deidara leaned close to yell into his ear over the music, “Fangirl!” Kisame blushed a little and scooted away. The blonde laughed and saw Hidan headbanging with a group of punks. Everyone seemed to be having fun.
The next song was softer and had some of the more serious rockers taking out their cell phones to swing back and forth in the air. After that was one that involved a really cool guitar solo, followed by one featuring the synth. Deidara knew he was going to go home and download all their songs now. They were a really amazing group, and as they ended with a popular song he was a bit sad to have to be leaving.
Luckily for him then when Hidan paraded four back stage passes in their faces.
“Holy shit!” The youngest cries grabbing one. “Hidan you're the greatest, un!”
Kakuzu took one with a disappointed stare. Hidan slapped him on the back before he could speak. “Birthday money from my gramps, don't sweat it man! Learn to live a little, now let's go fucking see them!” Deidara and Kisame pumped their fists in the air as they excitedly hurried to the entrance backstage.
“Breathe Kisame,” Deidara laughed seeing how tightly Kisame held onto his pass. “If you pass out on me I'm going to be really mad, un,”
Hidan blinked at them. “Which one does he have a crush on?”
“The singer,”
The white-haired man got a devious smile on his face as he ruffled Kisame's blue hair up. “Why you little fucker! Don't worry, I'll make sure you get what you want by the end of this.”
Something in the way he said that made Kisame panic. “Don't you dare Hidan! I just want an autograph at most! You better not embarrass me in front of him, or I'll tell Kakuzu what you spent that fifty he gave you last month on!”
Kakuzu rounded on his young friend. “Oh really? What did you spend it on Hidan?”
Hidan glared at Kisame before racing away from Kakuzu towards where the rest of the backstagers where waiting for the band to come out. Deidara chuckled and followed. Nothing was more amusing than Hidan pissing Kakuzu off, especially when it was something Hidan knew he had done wrong. Hidan may not have been a saint, but doing stuff behind Kakuzu's back was something he didn't do very often, and when he did it was usually hush-hush between the others.
“OH MY GOD! FANS!”
Deidara groaned as the now burned into his mind voice echoed throughout the room. If that Tobi guy hadn't been famous, Deidara might have shoved a firework down his throat. He glanced at Kisame to make sure he was still breathing before making his way over to the synth player for an autograph.
“Hey, that was an amazing show, un,” Deidara smiled stepping up to him. “I've never heard anyone play like you do before.”
Sasori nodded at him without a smile. “Thanks.”
Deidara fidgeted sensing the coldness coming off the other man. What was with this guy? “Can I get your autograph, un?”
The red head scribbled his name onto a photo of himself and handed it to him without another word. Deidara took it with a mumbled thanks and walked back over to Kakuzu. “He seemed so cool on stage, why's he have to be such a jerk, un?”
Kakuzu examined the man and shrugged. “Some people are just like that.”
“Right,” Deidara carefully folded the picture and slipped it into his pocket. He noticed Kisame across the room scratching the back of his head nervously as he talked to Itachi while fangirls clammered for the same attention. He smiled and walked over to see what was going on.
“I mean, your voice is like honey! No wait..um...Your voice is like a shadow and stuff, ya know?” Kisame was obviously making a fool of himself. Deodara noticed Itachi smiling softly at the compliaments he was being given. “Oh! And your eyes are...um...so really cool looking and stuff,”
Deidara butted into the conversation, “What my friend is trying to say is that he likes your singing and thinks your style is awesome, un. Forgive his inability to speak when faced with people like you.”
Kisame blushed and nodded. “Um, yeah, that's about right.”
Itachi chuckled and held a hand out. “Uchiha Itachi, I'm glad you like our music,”
Kisame took the hand going redder. “Ki-kisame,”
“Well Kisame, would you like an autograph?” Itachi suggested taking his hand back. He picked up one of the pictures supplied for such a purpose never taking his eyes off the blue-haired man. Kisame nodded and Itachi wrote his name and message on the page before giving to him. “Here, hope you come to another show some day,”
“I will! I promise!” Kisame replied brightly, holding onto the picture as if it might diappear.
The smaller version of Itachi walked over and motioned towards the door with his head. Itachi nodded and glanced back at them. “Sorry, I have to leave. It was nice meeting you.” He waved and followed his brother out of the room. Deidara took one last look at the mysterious synth player as he left with his band mates. The face painted bassist handed out a few more autographs before dragging the hyper Tobi away from a group of giggling girls whom he was entertaining with a hand stand.
“Oh my god he shook my hand!” Kisame breathed out in disbelief a few seconds later. He glanced down at the picture to read the message. “'Thanks for listening, hope you learn to speak the next time we see each other. Itachi.'” Kisame grinned brightly. “He said we would meet again! Oh my god!”
“Yeah, he sure did,” Deidara laughed as Hidan walked back over to them. “We leaving then?”
Hidan smirked. “Not yet. Anyone want to sneak onto a tour bus?” A look form Kakuzu told him no. “Fine, but don't think we're leaving just yet. These guys will be here for awhile, and I made us some arrangments in a hotel near here.”
“Um, but Hidan I don't have enough money to get in again, un,” Deidara said with a frown. “What's the point in staying here if we can't get in again?”
“You'll see man, I got this whole thing worked now. Now let's blow this joint and get over there. I'm fucking tired.”
They went back out to the van and after getting past the traffic made it to the beat up hotel, one of those kind of places that bad horror films featured and naughtly business men to get away from their wives. Deidara sighed. “This place sucks Hidan.”
“Kakuzu choose it, not me.” He replied handing them their keys. Hidan grabbed Kakuzu by the sleeve and dragged him down the hall to their room.
Deidara glared at Kakuzu for being cheap and followed Kisame to their shared room. As he got comfortable on the lumpy mattress he thought about the red headed man and why he found him so attractive. Sure Deidara knew he was gay, but he'd never actually checked someone out like that or anything. Maybe it was just because he liked the music or something. He yawned and began to doze off. Yeah, that was it, it was because he liked their music...
Deep down though he knew that wasn't it. He was at the start of a line of events that would take him on a trip he never could have imagined. If only it that trip would be an easy one...

A/N: Hmm...what an interesting beginning to a story. Basically I just wanted a story that starts with Deidara tied up. XD. Longest first chapter I've ever written as well. Let's hope I can keep this up, huh? Anyway, I hope you enjoyed it. I know I did. I rarely write something I can read over and still smile at. Please review, okay? Thanks!
Next Chapter: The band gets ready for a concert as Hidan's plan goes into action. How will this lead these young men together? Will Kisame say something stupid in front of his crush? Will Deidara get Sasori to speak to him? Will Tobi be wearing pants?! Find out next time in The Last Song. Thank-you, please come again.
Rated: M because of Hidan's foul mouth, and maybe some light citrus flavoring in the future.
