All I Need
The evanescent shadows of a hollow darkness wavered in ways that were disturbing to look at. Coral blue eyes searching …he searched in anger…he sought the one he loved the one he needed…his search was in vain.
The coal-eyed teen had run from him run from his feelings and run from life.
For too long they had only been friends or rivals all the while they had felt unimaginable lust and passion when the other was around they couldn’t help but be drawn to the undeniable sensations they would receive from the other’s presence.
The hollow glowing waning moon gave him such a feeling that this was not good Sasuke had never been gone this long.
A shallow gloom spread through his limbs he should never have said that, he should have known that he would never be good enough for the Uchiha in that way, he was nothing.
A monster.
Worthless.
He should have remembered when he tried to tell the avenger, he should have known that the boy would run.
He could never stop running even if it killed him….
***
The shadows of the forest cloaked in darkness made Sasuke feel afraid that something would get him…damn that dobe telling him those things and making his emotions awry and twisted like he couldn’t tell how he felt about anything especially the annoying blond.
Naruto had been the one person he could totally feel normal with and not feel like anything was expected of him.
The uchiha prodigy, the countries most powerful clan the one who would stop him, he should never have allowed himself to be close to anyone especially the way the blond had.
There was never anything that was expected of him just a competition of rivals and not even Sasukes’ legendary family name made Naruto afraid like it did others, dobe never cared who his family or how powerful he would become all that ever mattered to the blond was who he was now.
Things were getting really confusing especially when he learned dobes feelings; it was all too much for him to handle at once.
That’s why he ran, to get away, and to think…but Naruto…he left him all alone and now he probably feels that the raven hated him.
Sasuke didn’t know how he felt towards the blond wasn’t sure if he cared for the blond in that way but it certainly wasn’t hate.
He didn’t hate Naruto.
Naruto was his teammate, comrade, and had on occasion saved his life.
The only thing he knew for sure was that if he understood dobe than the boy would be running, the idiot could face overwhelming odds and would fight with his life on the line if he had to, to protect those he cared for and who couldn’t fight for themselves, it was his nindo but let him be faced with emotions.
***
In the short time he had arrived at his house Naruto had come to the conclusion that the best thing he could do was leave.
Leave the village and its people, leave Sasuke it was the only way for the boy to achieve his goals.
So in a whirlwind he packed a little bag once finished he and would be happy that at last, the Demon Fox container was leaving and never coming back.
He thought of all his ‘friends,’ Sakura-chan how he would miss her smile…Kakashi-sensei his teachings and advice…and that old hag…. his dream to take that seat of power to gain acceptance from the horrid villagers.
At the door he turned and realized that he couldn’t leave at least not without giving Sasuke an explanation if he hated him that was fine he was used to that but he could not just leave without saying goodbye.
He grabbed a paper and pen….
***
At the outskirts of the village Sasuke stopped and thought. He had come the whole way back and not found Naruto.
The mark on his neck throbbed in time with his heartbeat reminding him of the sannin and his promise. The pain increasingly becoming irritating but it didn’t matter all that mattered was getting to Naruto.
He started off again, this time for Narutos apartment hopefully he wasn’t too late.
At the door he paused. Nothing.
There was no sound on the other side of it, he knocked…no answer.
Again… nothing.
He opened the door, the apartment was comfortable not extravagant nothing expensive but surprisingly everything was clean an old orange couch the size of half the wall a small book shelf with no books on it only a few old magazines and an instruction manual on cooking really good ramen.
That was dobe’s favorite food, tasty yet not as addictive as the boy claimed, the small little table clear of anything except a piece of white paper titled Uchiha and with a few lines neatly scrawled on it he didn’t want to read it for fear of what it would say.
But his legs those stupid limbs that helped him travel began to move of their own accord and soon he had the paper in hand his eyes scanned the note. He had barely finished reading before flames consumed the entire paper and all of its contents…he was wrong he was too late.
Naruto was gone.
***
Hours of walking and Naruto barely had stopped to rest, he had just ran as far as he could go and walked when he became too tired to continue.
This had been his method of travel for the past five hours…the sun was rising and he hadn’t slept at all he had just packed his things left Sasuke a note and left not even stopping for ramen he actually didn’t like it that much, the only reason he had put on such a show was that he needed something to cling to and an inanimate object such as a food that burned you whenever you ate it was the only thing he could come up with that was affordable.
The road he was on told him that he was coming up to a village because of the paved roads.
A small run of houses came into view as he topped the last obstacle on his way to…. he had no idea where he was going just that he had to for the sake of Sasuke and the whole village he was a danger to them, the Demon Fox himself.
‘Please let me at least have a quiet rest with no surprises.’
As he walked the remaining distance to the village he heard the Foxes maniacal laughter madly telling him that nothing would ever be quiet unless he was dead and that their was no forgiveness for who he was…Naruto was being punished for the Foxes actions…
’Damn the Fourth.’
***
A bleak darkness hovered over the head of the young shinobi, as he slowly tracked his prey.
His blue shirt glistening in the sunshine and a cool breeze billowing over his baggy shorts while he jumped from tree to tree in a desperate attempt to retrieve his quarry.
Sasuke had been moving since he right after he had read the dark note from his teammate.
His mind raced with evil thoughts of how dobe was doing something that made him worry from the bottom of his soul.
His state of consciousness consisted of him barely paying attention to his journey; the true odyssey was raging on in his head. ‘Damn him, how could he leave like that. Isn’t it my place to be the one who runs?’ how could dobe leave like that. Didn’t he know how much Sasuke needed him and that without Dobe Sasuke wouldn’t even be in this forsaken wasteland of a village? He would be out searching for that which must be destroyed and destroy him utterly.
He had no idea how to react to that idiot, Naruto was the one person who he could completely count on and he completely trust no matter what.
Sasuke had to find that bastard, it was the most important subject.
He needed Uzumaki Naruto.
***
Blond hair shone in the sun as Naruto traversed the now bustling town square, his mind was passed exhaustion and he needed to rest.
Passing by an inn named 'The Rough and Tumble' he stopped and looked. The establishment itself was not very nice or large but rather small with a worn down appearance.
Perfect.
Nobody would ever suspect him of residing in such a haggard looking place.
Walking in he gave the owner a resigned nod. “I need a room for a few days.” His voice came out harsh and made him sound older than he actually was.
The owner took in his appearance and spoke to him gruffly “Well boy it must be your lucky day cause we only have one room left. The names' Nabi whass yours'?”
Naruto had no idea what to do he did not know if he should give his actual name, so he searched for something in his mind to help him “ah Minato. The name is Minato.”
Disbelieving for a few moments the man stared in askance at the young child who resembled the other one. Then just shook his head and proceeded to bill Naruto for the room, and then led him up the stares at the back of the room.
Down a hallway that led to the front of the building turning at the last door on the right and placed the key he had pulled from his dirty apron a moment ago into the slot under the knob and turned it.
Opening the door he spoke quickly “Here she is the last room is now rented. Dinner is at sunset.”
Then he left to return to his duties leaving Naruto to his own mechanizations.
Which could be considered as good because he had no thoughts on where to go or what to do. He had never been one for much forward thought, the only thoughts on the future he mainly had was that he wanted to become hokage. Most of his fights had just been blind luck and quick thinking, not to mention his large store of chakra thanks to the beast.
Mulling over thoughts on what was next for him gave him a headache, the main thought in his head was Sasuke that is all he really wanted.
He decided to get some sleep before dinner. Laying down on the bed his mind eased a little as he drifted off to sleep his last coherent thought...
'Uchiha Sasuke was all he needed.'
***
Clearing the last of the trees as he arrived at the end of a forest his eyes roamed the village in front of him, weighing the odds of Naruto being in this particular one.
Thinking about how this is the way the blonds trail had lead and the closest mass of people from Konoha in this direction.
Dobe often liked to get lost in a crowd. He found it easier to mingle in with other people and be something other than what they labeled him..something not a monster.
Naruto was the most important person in Sasukes' life and until today he had never thought of the man as anything but a best friend..but that all changed when the idiot told Sasuke how he felt about him.
Having the time to think about the blond and himself in that light gave him a good perspective on what he actually felt....and it apparently was not something either of them had thought about ever before.
What he had to do was tell Naruto as soon as he could.
He just had to find the bastard first.
His mind made up he headed for the entrance to the village at a brisk walk.
Entering through the front gates he started searching for places his dobe would go checking the main streets first, then entering the town square whilst keeping his senses prone to locate the signature chakra that only Naruto possessed.
Wandering through the crowed not positive exactly what he was looking for Sasuke scanned his surroundings trying to find those cerulean eyes the ones he felt as if he could fly while looking into them. Secretly he had always admired how those orbs sparkled and how one could drown in them if they gazed into them for too long but not wanting to look away.
Not finding anything worth seeing he decided to look into some inns, hoping against hope that Naruto would be in one.
Probing the surrounding buildings while trying to figure whether or not dobe would be in one of them, searching for names of the inns that maybe Naruto would find interesting enough to stay at.
'The Kages Kuggel'
“Tch. No”
'The Brown Jug'
“Most unlikely”
'Ramen Haven'
“Maybe.”
'The Rough and Tumble'
“No-uh. Yes!” Running into the establishment at finding Naruto thanks to his wicked chakra signature. He must remember to harass the dobe later for not hiding it while on the run.
Arriving in front of the caretaker he stopped and proceeded to ask after his blond friend.
“Umm sir, I am looking for my friend. He is about up to my forehead in height, blond hair and big blue eyes. His name is Naruto, we planned to meet here today around this time.”
The wide innkeeper took a large inhale of breathe pondering what Sasuke had just said. 'It sounds like the young man from earlier but he said his name was Minato.'
“Sorry boy there is nobody here by that name.”
Taken aback by that statement Sasukes' eyes widened in surprise. “a-are you sure I told him I would meet him here it is very important.” voice panicking he started trying to figure out why Naruto wasn't here his chakra's essence was all over the place.
He had to be here.
He just had to.
Knowing that Naruto had to be here Sasuke began to get angry but kept his very chilled voice from rising above a normal tone.
“Are you sure there is nobody here matching the description I just gave you? Sir”
Nabi noticed the change in the boys posture and grew agitated.
“Boy like I told you there is nobody in here matching that name, now get out of here before I have you thrown out!”
As he reached to grab Sasuke by the shoulders the much more agile and younger man stopped the mans hand in mid air just as he lifted it. And then proceeded to turn it at an odd angle forcing the man to face the other way and fall to his knees.
“Are you absolutely sure about that sir?” his icy voice chilled the room that had grown silent since the altercation began.
“ugh” the older man grumbled “I can't feel my hand brat! Let go of me!”
Sasukes' pale face was graced with a beautiful smirk. “-but you did not answer my question, where is my friend he has blond hair and blue eyes? This time, you old goat if you do not answer MY question I will rip your arm from its socket. As I told you my friend is very important to me.”
“urgh like I said brat therr is nobody here with the name Naruto! Now lit go of me!” the mans arm twisted a little more in the wrong direction and was suddenly no longer held. Nabi arched his shoulder and made his arm move in revolutions to get the feeling back in it as he stood and turned to where the raven haired prick had been standing.
The boy was no longer there he quickly glanced and found the boy about to exit the inn with a sallow tilt to his head.
“Teme!”
The boys body froze as still as ice.
He turned and looked at the direction the voice had come from.
Sasukes' eyes caught Narutos' just as the blonds foot landed on the last step.
Blue skies meeting Dark depths.
Nabi watched the exchange of – what he did not know- and scratched his head in puzzlement.
He brought his gaze from the blond then back to where the pale boy was.
But he was not there.
Bang!
He heard the crash and his eyes searched for the source as he found it his mouth dropped in shock.
They were kissing.
The black haired boys back was facing Nabi and the poor blond had been thrown back against the wall in Sasukes' attempt to ravish his face. There was a long thick crack running from the place the boys head had collided with the wall.
'I guess he meant it when he said this Naruto was important to him!' the man chuckled to himself as he made his way towards the two animals starting to go at it.
“Now look here you two, get on out of here. I do not care were you go s'long as it is not in this common room. Get on now! Hurry up before I have to start paying yuz s'entertainment.”
The coal-eyed teen had run from him run from his feelings and run from life.
