Monster
I apologize in advance, because this is one f*cked up story. Don't be reading if you don't have a strong stomach. I mean it.
I don't own Naruto.
XxX XxX
Blue eyes clenched tightly as another round of dry heaving caused his throat to sear and his eyes to water. Everything that had been in his stomach was now on the floor next to his bed.
'WORTHLESS CREATURE' Kyuubi crooned in his mind 'I SHARE WITH YOU THE DREAMS OF POWER, AND YOU CAN'T EVEN STOMACH THEM'
At the words Naruto felt his stomach clench again, felt the bitter acid of his digestive juices corrode another layer of skin in his throat as he gagged, trying desperately to forget about what had been in that dream.
He didn't want to remember the way Hinata had whimpered, half dead as he snacked delicately on her entrails. The way Sasuke had screamed as his skin had been pulled off, Naruto lapping at the bloody muscles covering the once powerful frame.
“Stop.” He croaked, tears mingling with the sweat running down his face. “Please, stop. I don't want to see anymore.” Naruto could feel the sneer of disdain before the images were slowly cut off, one by one until the boy was alone with his own sobbing, and the acrid smell of what had been his dinner.
XxX XxX
“You look pale.” Sakura's near look of concern jolted the blonde boy, who, on looking at his team mates had started remembering the dreams...no, not dreams. Memories.
“M'fine.” He mumbled, pressing a hand against his stomach and leaning against the bridge, praying this was one of the days when Kakashi was a few hours late. He didn't want to look into his sensei's face and remember plucking out his one good eye, rolling it around in his mouth before popping it between his teeth like an over ripe grape. He could still hear Kakashi's screams in his head, the hand on his shoulder jerked him out of the nightmare.
He had sweat through his jacket, his breath was coming in near sobs, and before he could even try to deny it he had turned, leaning over the edge of the bridge and vomiting with such force he could feel the back of his throat tearing.
'POOR PATHETIC LITTLE URCHIN' The voice in the back of his mind boomed, it echoed through his skull making him feel woozy. If it hadn't been for the hand on the back of his jacket he would have fallen into the creek. 'TASTE TRUE POWER, FEED ON IT LIKE YOU WILL FEED ON THOSE YOU CALL FRIEND'
He could barely make out Sakura screaming out for Kakashi, barely hear Sasuke's near worried remark that he was puking up blood now, spotted with the yellow of his bile. All he could hear was Kyuubi, Kyuubi laughing, Kyuubi taunting him, Kyuubi whispering suggestions into his ear. Whispering that he could be great, that everyone would fear him, and that fear would be better then love. Those that loved you would leave you, but those that feared you would be with you forever.
Naruto never felt the strong arms lifting him from the ground, never felt the air rushing past his face on the swift journey to the Hokage's office. Never heard Tsunade's near screams of panic. His mind was away from the physical world, he was in the dank sewer of his own mind, hiding as far away from the bars as he could, trying desperately to ignore the hissing lies of the fox.
XxX XxX
“I don't know what's wrong.” Tsunade wiped a tear away from her face, looking into the face of the young man who most resembled her younger brother. “It's like he's in a coma, he won't wake up.” Her face hardened, all softness gone from the woman who ruled over the Village Hidden in the Leaves with a heart of steel.
“Do you think its...” Kakashi trailed off, not wanting to elaborate with his students still in the room.
“I hope not. For all our sakes, I hope not.”
“You hope it's not who?” Sakura asked from the back of the room, she'd never been good with things being kept a secret, her natural curiosity taking over common sense most of the time.
“None of your business. Leave, the both of you.” The Hokage snapped out orders, not being in the mood to deal with moody teens.
XxX XxX
'THEY LIE'
“No they don't. Leave me alone.”
'THEY WILL NEVER LOVE YOU THE WAY I CAN'
“YOU DON'T LOVE ME!!”
'CHILD' Kyuubi purred, reminiscent of a large predator before the final crushing blow. 'HOW LITTLE YOU KNOW, HOW LITTLE YOU UNDERSTAND'
“Leave me alone.” It was a pitiful noise now, a whimper of something that has nearly given up the will to live. Childlike laughter flooded the sewer, sending chills up Naruto's spine. To hear a demon laugh is one thing, to hear a demon laugh like THAT, is quite another.
XxX XxX
“The council is starting to get suspicious.” Tsunade remarked, pinching the bridge of her nose. “It's only a matter of time before they connect all the pieces.”
“So it's...” Kakashi broke off again, staring at the floor and contemplating things he had hoped to never think about.
“Yes, the seal is. Well, the best way to describe it, is fizzling. The seal is squirming, like a living organism. The kanji has twisted its self into another form.” Tsunade fell silent, her own thoughts taking over and rendering her unable to speak as she wondered at what the boy was undergoing at the hands of the monster inside his head.
XxX XxX
The taunting had gone on for what seemed like years. Time passed differently here then it did on the outside. And no one can out last a demon, especially not a teenage boy.
His mind had eventually snapped under all the crooned words, all the laughter at his own expense. All the hateful words, and the angry gestures the villagers had shoved onto his narrow shoulders through the short years he'd been alive, had been the breaking point.
Kyuubi had shoved memories at him, memories of mothers chasing him away from their children at the park, memories of older men kicking him on the way back from the pub. Memories of teachers failing him on purpose, though he had given the correct answers on all of his exams, memories of everyone hating him no matter what he did, no matter how hard he tried, no matter who he would become.
After the tears and screams that it didn't matter had stopped. After he'd become a shell of what he had once been, the blonde boy had crawled to the bars of the cage, slipping through a half missing bar in the bottom. It wasn't large enough for the fox to get through, just large enough for a small human to climb through.
He'd snuggled into the rich fur of the monster he was fast becoming, felt the tails wrap around him and felt warmth for once in his young life.
“Don't hate me.”
'I COULD NEVER HATE YOU CHILD' They both knew it wasn't Kyuubi Naruto was worried about, and he snuggled closer at the near matronly tone.
XxX XxX
Blue eyes opened, staring dully at the stone ceiling. He was beneath the earth, he could feel the stone smothering him, he needed to be outside, needed to be under the sky.
Paper seals on his arms and chest constricted chakra use. Naruto could feel Kyuubi's amusement and felt his own lips curl upwards into a feral smile. Foolish humans, they imagined seals could hold a demon's limitless chakra. A burst of blue tinged red and the seals were falling away, the letters smoldering as they hit the floor and burst into flames.
Everyone in the village Chunin and higher had felt the blast, though very few knew what it meant, or thought they knew. Several key council members smiled, knowing they could now issue the death warrant for the useless child that had taken Minato away from them all those years ago.
XxX XxX
'IT'S ALMOST TOO EASY' Naruto threw his head back, letting the mirth that wasn't his own bubble outwards as the blood red miasma surrounding him sizzled any living flesh that got within three meters.
“Naruto, stop this. PLEASE!!” Tsunade was nearly sobbing, knowing that after this there would be no choice but to put the boy down. For his own safety as well as the villages.
“Stop.” He cocked his head to the side, a sly smile on his face. “Why?”
XxX XxX
Once the pesky ANBU had been taken out, once their blood had been smeared on his face in a parody of the warrior markings he'd been fond of using in the past, he'd gone after the woman who thought she loved him.
She'd screamed that at him moments before he'd ripped her lying tongue out of her mouth.
“How would I know this feeling, I don't know what love is.” He hissed at her, enjoying the sobs and gurgles as Tsunade drowned in her own blood.
A perverted version of the bright smile he wore slipped over his visage. Time for his 'friends'.
XxX XxX
He'd ended Hinata quickly, Kyuubi had no use for a sniveling woman who never could find her own worth. The rest of the Hyuuga clan had gone to paint his orange clothing red, then the walls, then the outside of the compound. He'd smeared a handful of what had once been Hiashi through his hair, sucking the excess off his fingers before he went in search of better prey.
Kiba and his mutts had been gutted like the many animals they hunted for sport, their bodies had been drug into the forest and left for the animals.
Chouji's family had died the way they had lived, their mouths stuffed full, jaws snapped so more food could be stuffed down their throats.
Shikamaru had run, like a rat. Dodging and weaving through the villages. It was the most fun Kyuubi had had in nearly a decade, and he was sure to tell the Nara boy this when he caught him half an hour later and gutted him, the entrails now being used to keep his collection of ears.
Lee had been left alone at first. Though after he'd opened the fifth gate and nearly killed Naruto, the boy had simply snapped his neck and moved on.
Sasuke'd put up a fight, not that it had helped him in the end. His scalp sat on Naruto's own, pieces of blonde escaping the odd hat, as he methodically hunted down the children in the academy.
Iruka had been looked over, mostly for the fact that he had once sacrificed himself for the demon carrier and that sort of loyalty was never forgotten. Though once Naruto was daintily eating the flesh of one of the children, the teacher had begged for Naruto to kill him. The boy had refused and the gentle man had thrown himself on his own shuriken, not wanting to be the lone survivor of this.
Sakura was killed swiftly, as was Ino. Their screeching voices got on Kyuubi's last nerve, and with a simple swipe of inhumanly long nails, Naruto sent their heads rolling. The blonde monster in human form snuffled the air before grinning and heading off on all fours.
Now that there were no ninja left, why not pay the counselors a visit?
XxX XxX
The first one, the fat one who had hated Naruto the most was first. His screams and plea's for mercy were like music. But let's not go into details on what happened to this one, it's better that way.
The rest of them were like cattle to the slaughter, though the last one had known what was coming and had killed herself. Woman were so much braver then men, Kyuubi mused to his prison as the boy crunched on her fingers, spitting out the knuckles. Less afraid of death, more so the method of their demise then anything else.
XxX XxX
Naruto snickered, trying desperately to smother the giggles as the remaining members of the Akatsuki stared at him with various degrees of disbelief and horror. He had sliced the face off of Pein, wearing it like a mask.
“You wanted me here so bad, and here I am.” He had managed between guffaws of laughter, like it was the worlds best joke.
No one had moved, no one had spoken as he walked out the way he had come in. Deidara, Kisame and Zetsu were the only ones left. Itachi's eyes were in his pocket, Hidan's scythe in his left hand. Sasori was strung up along the roof of the cave...all over the place. His heart was in Naruto's stomach, it was the deciding factor in the battle with the last three members. When someone eats a human heart instead of stabbing it with a kunai, your opponent isn't right in the head, and it's usually best to leave them alone after that.
Naruto had yet to take Pein's face off his own.
XxX XxX
In the end, with Gaara sitting beside him, the pair gorged on a hapless traveler that had wandered through the den sight, Naruto had the soft thought that he'd never been happier.
He butted his head against his neighbor's, nuzzling his throat in a way that demanded Gaara show his submission towards his Alpha.
'THIS IS WHO YOU WERE ALWAYS MEANT TO BE CHILD' Kyuubi murmured in the back of his mind as the blonde rolled Gaara onto his back, the lesser demon whining and arching up towards him. 'THEY WERE JUST HOLDING YOU BACK'
