Iruka's Hair

The rain was beating at the windows, the soft pitter patter creating a rhythmic beat that made Iruka tap his foot with a happy smile on his face. The night sky was dark, the moon hidden behind the veil of clouds promising rain for the next few days. It was one of those nights where all he wanted to do was curl up by the fire with a good book and a nice hot chocolate….well, that used to be what the academy teacher did on nights like these. The routine hadn’t changed very much except now he laid in front of the fire, his head cradled in his lovers lap and no book in sight. He would much rather melt into the soft kisses the other man bestowed upon him time and time again. Love had really changed him…and he was loving it.

Tenzou leaned down, kissing his brown haired lover softly once more before trailing butterfly kisses over the scar marring his nose. His hands were buried in Iruka’s soft hair, stroking and petting it softly as he sat there. The high pony tail that the teacher normally kept the brown locks in never lasted long around Tenzou. He liked playing with the silky strands far too much for that. “I love your hair, ‘Ruka.” The Anbu murmured softly, leaning down to kiss him again, wanting to keep the serenity of the moment. These moments were few and far between so they were cherished each and every time with his whole heart.

Iruka couldn’t help the wide smile that spread across his features at that words. No matter how often Tenzou gave him that compliment, it still made his heart swell and contented warmth spread through his body. It had taken so long for Tenzou to open up to him and give those compliments without stuttering or cutting off in the middle. He was still shy and barely said the words above a whisper but they were there…and that meant the world to Iruka. “Mmm, I know.” Iruka murmured back with the same, soft tone as he reached up, his hand sliding into Tenzou’s hair as he drew his head down, leaning up to kiss him gently. “I love you, Tenzou.”

An endearing blush spread across Tenzou’s cheeks at the words, a soft sound of embarressment coming from his throat. “I…I love you too.” He had gotten used to giving compliments but declarations of love still made him nervous. He really did love Iruka…he had for so long but…being this straightforward, telling someone exactly how he felt had never come easily to him. He sighed when he heard Iruka’s response, the sound showing his relief as well as the way he smiled did.

“I know…” The whispered words led into another sweet kiss, their bodies moving together like those of lovers acquainted for years. They didn’t know how long it would last…or if one of them wouldn’t come back when they left on a mission but they would take everything they could get now and to think, this had all started with four, whispered words.

I love your hair…
