Breathe Feel Remember
AN: This is an edit, not a new story. I found some atrocious errors in it and I felt like I needed to correct them. I have been thinking of working more with this, maybe adding a new timeline or exploring their lives together a little more, but I'm really busy right now so it won't be for a long time if I do.
This is a one shot. There's not much to it but fluff and sex with a little folklore added in. I have no beta so it might be messy, but I'm trying to find one so hopefully I'll get it cleaned up soon. I hope you enjoy it.INFO: all the Japanese words in this fic are translated down at the bottom, but I thought they were pretty well explained. I listed them just for those of you that might be curious.
Breathe, Feel, Remember
Naruto had been in Japan for a little over a year and he’d yet to learn the language. It wasn’t that he didn’t want to, it was just that he made a lot of mistakes when he pronounced just about everything, and the people he worked with didn’t seem really concerned with helping him. They never seemed concerned about him much at all since he was the only none Japanese born working for a very prominent manga production company. He was half Japanese from his mother’s side but being born in America and having an American father made him in their eyes a complete foreigner. The worst part was that he was good at his job, even with the language barrier, and more often then not he made most of his coworkers look bad. His boss though, loved him. Sarutobi Sama was a fantastic boss, but he spoke English, and enjoyed very much being able to practice with Naruto. This didn’t help Naruto learn Japanese either, but he was getting paid more and promoted quickly so it was a good thing to have the boss like you.
He’d been working twelve hour days and a lot of the time he was in on weekends to make sure that his sheets were done for the writers, and that all his prep work for the next issue was laid out to start on the next week. He spent most of his time alone when he wasn’t at work. He walked home everyday to his apartment. It was about six blocks from the high rise that he worked in and it was in a decent neighborhood, at least that’s what he’d heard. His life had been pretty monotonous until about a month ago. He’d noticed that every day when he left work he was followed by a large black cat looking creature. He’d asked a lady at the market about it a couple of weeks ago and found out it wasn’t a cat at all. The lady had seemed nervous with the creature and its interest in Naruto, but he hadn’t understood most of what she’d said so he’d left with only a vague answer of what the creature was.
It was a kitsune. He’d looked it up on the internet and the old woman had been right. According to Japanese history they were tricky creatures but in some stories they had good natures and were sometimes able to take on human form, but nowhere in any of his research was there anything written about the kitsunes being black or real for that matter. All the stories spoke of them as creatures of fantasy which added to the utter ridiculousness of the situation. Naruto just went on with his days just like any other when about three days ago the kitsune had gotten close enough to bump his leg with its head. It rubbed on him like a cat looking for affection, and without a thought to what he was doing Naruto crouched down and petted the strange fictional creature with long strokes from head to tale.
When it had it’s fill of attention it looked up at Naruto and he gasped at the sight of brilliant red eyes. Not only were they red, but they had the strangest pattern on the irises that he’d ever seen. The animal seemed to smirk at him, and then sauntered off in the opposite direction of where he was heading. He hadn’t even noticed the eyes on him until the fox was out of sight, and he’d stood back up again. There was a crowd of people standing all around looking at him as if they didn’t believe what they were seeing. Naruto had to laugh just a little at how riled up these people got with their folk lore, but the kitsune was interesting enough to warrant at least some attention. It had to be someone’s pet though. What else would such a strange and unusual creature be doing in the middle of Tokyo.
Today, though, seemed to be different. When he left the building it was just past dark, and his shadow from the street lamps fell long on the sidewalk as he made his way home. He spotted the kitsune almost immediately, and wondered why it was keeping its distance today. It had kept pretty close to him recently, but now it didn’t seem to want to cross the street. There were people out but it wasn’t to overcrowded so that couldn’t be why, and Naruto had a bit of time on his hands tonight since he didn’t have to shop so he decided to cross the street and see what was wrong.
When he crossed though the kitsune had already made it some distance down a street Naruto had never been, but the way the kitsune kept looking back at him made him think that it wanted him to follow, so he decided to go with it for a while and see if maybe he could find out where it lived. He was curious after all, and maybe the owner could answer some questions for him about the curious animal. After a few blocks the residential buildings got larger and the cars parked around them were more expensive and luxurious than most, but it was nothing more than Naruto had expected. Anyone with enough money to afford such a rare and strange pet would have to have enough to live here. He watched the kitsune step up to a house that was at least three stories tall. The sidewalk was designed in an intricate pattern of stones that looked like the Torii at the Itsukushima Shrine with the water at the base and the mountains in the back ground. It was a unique work of art and Naruto regretted walking on it but it was the only way to the door. The door itself was ajar and a shadow moved across the opening that seemed to beckon him further.
He cautiously stepped through the door and called out to see if anyone would answer, but all he heard was playful yelp in return. He shut the door gently behind him and made his way quietly toward the light at the end of the entry. It opened into a large sitting area with a low corner sofa in the center. The sofa was black and white mixed together in a pattern that he assumed would be perfect for hiding the black hairs of the kitsune that happened to be laying on it right then.
“Is this where you live?” Naruto asked as he walked toward the sofa and sat down. The kitsune gracefully made its way over to Naruto and commenced to making itself right at home in his lap. Naruto stroked it from head to tale and enjoyed feeling and hearing the deep purr that the kisune made. “Is your owner home?” Naruto asked, and instantly regretted it. The kitsune gave him a glare that could melt glass and leapt off his lap and sauntered in a surprisingly haughty manner with his tale up toward the opposite corner of the room where a byobu was spread wide across the room. As the kitsune disappeared behind it Naruto was shocked at the scene depicted across the front. It was a story told with scenes on each of the six panels.
The strangest feeling of déjà vu came over him at the sight of a black kitsune courting a blonde one.
The first panel showed the two as kits and they were fighting, but they were so small that they couldn’t possibly harm each other, and if you looked at it closely it almost looked as if they were playing.
The next was more intimate and yet still there was rivalry. They were older and a little bigger with voluminous tails that if you weren’t focused on them seemed to move slightly back and fourth. They were face to face and trying to look as intimidating as possible to the other, but at the same time they were paw to paw, yellow right covering black left and black right covering yellow left. The scene showed how even though they still fought on the surface there was a hidden affection keeping them close and tying them together.
The third was terrible and though Naruto didn’t want to see it he couldn’t help but explore the depths of the agony there on that panel. The blonde kitsune was lying on a stone surrounded by water and he was covered in blood. There were wounds that seemed to cut straight to the bone, but the eyes held a different pain. It was not the pain of injury but of betrayal. The black kitsune was equally as injured but he was walking across the water as if he were weightless his whole body stiff with pain but his head was facing straight ahead as if the determination in him was stronger than anything in the physical. He was walking away.
If the third had been shocking then the fourth was nothing short of breathless. The two of them were standing in the center of a stone room crouched as if ready to strike. The blonde was facing away so the eyes couldn’t be seen, but the black one was clear and truly the face of a killer. The posture was pure steel and both tails were high as they tried to be as threatening as possible toward the other. Cold lifeless red eyes stared into the unseen face as the stand off continued. They were locked in eternity forced to confront, but never attack. Naruto knew those eyes, but they were not the same, and a war waged in his mind as he tried to remember what his consciousness couldn’t seem to retrieve.
When he looked to the fifth he could breath again. The black kitsune seemed fragile and broken, but there was spirit there that had been missing before. The blonde was standing in a threatening crouch over him protectively as if trying to fight off the universe to keep him safe. It was a bond renewed.
The sixth was peaceful and beautiful. They were curled around one another next to a slow stream and Naruto could almost hear the water rushing over the rocks. They slept the sleep of true peace. Something Naruto had never known in his life and envy rushed through his veins at the sight of such harmony in love. And that is exactly what it was. Naruto could feel it from just looking at them that they were the purest representation of love, and when he stopped studying them and just looked he noticed that the two of them curled together the way they were formed a perfect yin yang symbol.
Naruto’s chest hurt. He was suddenly back in the strange room in the strange house all alone, and he felt the echo of remembered pain throb around his heart. He had to get out of here. He started toward the door and soon found himself running to get away. He thought he heard a voice call out from behind him, but it was too much to take so he ran. He ran until he was standing in front of the door to his apartment panting for breath and finding that even as the oxygen returned to his blood the pain in his chest had not receded.
Naruto went to work as usual and completely ignored the strange creature that followed him to and from his apartment every day. This went on for a week until he’d had enough of hiding. As he left for the night he’d finished everything he needed to do for the entire weekend so he wouldn’t have to go back until Monday, and set out for the house with the strangely familiar byobu.
The kitsune was no where to be seen, but he didn’t worry. He knew where to find it. He walked briskly down the streets he’d traveled only once before and sooner than he’d expected he found himself at the door knocking with restraint he hadn’t known he possessed. As he went to knock the second time the door opened and a tall young man opened the door. It was dark in the entrance so he couldn’t see him well, but he could tell he was pale and his hair was jet black and wild. The young man stepped back and motioned for him to enter without a word, and strangely Naruto didn’t feel as uncomfortable with crossing that threshold as he probably should have.
The door closed behind him and the young man walked passed him. Naruto followed him back into the room he’d been to before and the man said “Chakuseki” as he pointed to the couch. Naruto assumed he was being told to sit and dropped down into the exact place he’d been before. The young man had disappeared into another room but Naruto could hear movement so he hadn’t gone far. That was when he noticed that the byobu was gone. The wall that had been hidden before held a door that was closed, and he wondered for a moment where it led to and where the byobu had gone. He’d wanted to look at it again, but he didn’t know how to ask.
The young man came back into the room with a tea tray and Naruto suddenly noticed that he wasn’t wearing anything but a pair of black silk pajama pants. His body in the light was stunning. He was muscular and strong yet his lines were graceful and not bulky. His skin was luminescent and flawless and the face was equally handsome as the rest. Naruto felt uncomfortably attracted to the young man suddenly, and yet comfortably familiar with him at the same time. It was a dichotomy of emotion that Naruto couldn’t even begin to understand.
He’d been so mesmerized by the body before him that he didn’t notice that the other man was sitting next to him until a silk covered thigh brushed against his. He looked up and suddenly he was drowning in fathomless black eyes. He felt a strong hand reach up and start to unzip his jacket, but he couldn’t think. All he could do was breathe and feel.
Lips were very close to his when he came back to himself. The eyes were still there, but he wasn’t lost anymore, and then they were kissing and the eyes disappeared behind soft lids with long silken lashes. His own eyes slid shut as he leaned in to the kiss. He didn’t know what was happening, but it felt so right that he couldn’t think to stop much less ask. The kiss deepened and strong hands pulled him closer. The jacket fell from his shoulders and the t-shirt underneath was ripped unceremoniously from him as if it had been made of tissue. Never once did their lips part.
As the need for air became too strong to ignore Naruto broke the kiss only to find him self being laid down on the couch. “Wait, who are you? Do you live here? Is the little fox your pet? I don’t even know your name…” Naruto tried to stay focused, but as his back hit the couch he felt soft lips trailing down his neck to his chest. He let out a harsh breath as he felt a hot rough tongue trace one nipple only to move across his chest to lave at the other. He tried to ask more, to demand that he be given answers, but before he could get out the words, those dark eyes met his again and said, “tojikomeru, dobe” and went back to what he was doing. Naruto didn’t know what that meant, but the tone was clear.
As he relaxed into his position he felt hard narrow hips shift between his thighs spreading him and making him suddenly feel vulnerable in a way he hadn’t before even as his clothes had been removed by a complete stranger. But that thought sat strange with him because he realized that he didn’t feel like a stranger. His body seemed to recognize what his mind couldn’t and he let the safety and warmth wash through him as he felt his pants being unzipped and removed along with his boxers and socks. He was now completely naked and he needed a name. It was an aberrant thought, but he needed it. “Tell me your name… please.”
The body above his shifted and they were face to face again. Naruto felt hot hard flesh against his own throbbing erection and the shock of it forced a gasp of pleasure to escape from his lips. The smirk on the other’s face was pure evil. “Name… what’s your name?”
Lips moved in closer to his and the voice could only be described as pure sex. “Sasuke.” Naruto reapeated the name letting it role over his tongue and feeling the physical reaction it induced against his cock.
Suddenly the temperature changed, and the kiss he received was nothing like before. There was no soft exploration this time. It was all heat and passion and the good kind of pain that let him remember he was still alive. A calloused hand slid down his leg and pulled it up forcing them together harder and then there was a slick finger at his entrance. Gentle teasing touches circled the sensitive skin making Naruto squirm and moan into the mouth panting against his. Eyes opened and locked. Naruto tried to press against the finger but as he slid closer the pressure lessened and moved. He was getting desperate for more when finally he was pierced. Those eyes never left his as if they were memorizing every movement and expression. Then there were two and Naruto wanted so much to demand more, but he was so entranced that all he could do was breathe.
He was being opened and everything about this Sasuke made him want… just want. The sound of their breath was the only noise in the room, but near silence seemed appropriate for the intensity of the moment. He felt every move, every touch. He felt himself stretched enough, and without a word Sasuke seemed to know he was ready. It was as if they’d been lovers for a lifetime and not complete strangers. The shift was slight, Sasuke stayed close to him as he moved into place, and he was sliding in slow and smooth. Eye lids slid half closed over black irises only to snap back open again as if he couldn’t bear to miss a moment.
His legs were pulled up more as he was pierced further. Every touch seemed to be filled with a subtle reverence, and Naruto realized he was being worshipped. How could it feel like this with someone he barely knew? He didn’t know, but it was the most amazing feeling, and he hoped it never ended. When they were flush Sasuke finally closed his eyes. Naruto wanted those eyes on him, but he loved the look of barely contained desire on the other’s face. He felt himself being lifted by incredibly strong arms and soon Sasuke was sitting back on the couch with Naruto straddling his lap. The motion left them both panting and gravity forced Naruto even further down on Sasuke’s erection.
Then they were moving and lips were on his breathing in his gasps of pleasure as he moved. The cadence was perfect. His body was moving of its own accord. His entrance ached with need, and his hands found their way into soft wild hair and he pulled those amazing lips tighter against his. Their tongues mimicked the actions of their bodies as Sasuke took hold of his hips and sped up the pace. They were soon thrusting against each other harder and faster. Hands roamed over fevered skin and Naruto’s thighs were grinding brutally into Sasuke’s hips.
Naruto suddenly needed more and thought to reach for his own erection, when he felt long fingers wrap around him and pull in time with their thrusts. The hand slid over him with perfect pressure and he was undone. He came hard arching his back and letting out a cry of uncontrolled desire. He felt his hips lifted and the cock inside him kept thrusting as he felt his orgasm linger and last longer than any other he’d ever experienced. As he came down he opened his eyes to see the strain on Sasuke’s face. He’d held back long enough to make it unbelievable for Naruto, but as his body relaxed he felt Sasuke let go.
Irratic powerful thrusts slammed up into him as Sasuke groaned and came. The sight was so erotic he felt his limp cock pulse with shared passion and more come spilled from the tip.
Sasuke was shaking as his thrusts slowed to soft shifts of his hips, and then his erection slipped out and he pulled Naruto’s chest against him pressing his ear to Naruto’s heart listening to the pace as it slowed to a steady rhythm.
They stayed like this for a while. Again the only sound in the room was their breath. Naruto shifted a little and Sasuke lifted his head to look at him. He wore a satisfied smile on his face that made Naruto want to laugh. Sasuke seemed quiet smug, but Naruto supposed it was well earned.
Sasuke rolled Naruto off him and slid off the couch to the floor at Naruto’s side picking up the torn shirt and wiping Naruto off first, then himself. He tossed the shirt to the side and poured two cups of tea. It was no longer hot, but Naruto was suddenly so thirsty that tepid was good enough. He downed the first cup quickly receiving a small laugh from Sasuke. He gave a mock glare, but smiled again when his cup was refilled. They sat in silence drinking their tea, and Naruto had the chance to think about his questions again. “Where is the little fox? He’s your pet right?”
Sasuke scowled then, and put his cup down. He took Naruto’s cup and set it down also and stood up. He pulled Naruto to his feet and then drug him by the hand to the door he’d been curious about before. It led to a bedroom with grey silk bedding. The room was dark with only the dim light from the other room shining in through the open door. His hand was dropped, and Sasuke made his way to the bed. He walked with an unconscious grace and fluidity that made Naruto jealous. He’d always been a bit clumsy as a child and had never achieved the type of control that was presented to him in this perfect body, but it passed quickly when that body slid attractively onto the bed. He stretched out across the cover and rolled over to his stomach. Sasuke pulled his knees up under him looked back at Naruto with what could only be described as a come hither look.
Naruto didn’t need to be told. He made his way quickly to the bed and knelt behind Sasuke sliding his hands over smooth perfect skin. His erection had come back full force at seeing the sensuality of this pose, and the idea of sliding inside the beautiful man on the bed made him shiver with lust. A hand met his and he felt a small tube slide into his hand. He let out a quiet bark of laughter at how prepared Sasuke seemed to be for this, and wondered for a moment if he’d planned it somehow. The idea left his mind quickly though as he wrapped his slick hand around his own erection. He slid two fingers into Sasuke’s entrance and went straight for the prize. He wasn’t disappointed. Sasuke arched and mewled at the touch squeezing his entrance around Naruto’s fingers enticingly. Naruto had never been the most patient person in the world and he felt himself losing what was left. He needed in now, and the noises Sasuke was making told him he didn’t need to hold back. As his fingers slid out his cock slid into place and he was pressing in. Instantly he was overcome with feeling.
His control slipped, and he was pushing inside Sasuke, sinking all the way inside steady and fast. He leaned down to kiss strong shoulders, and felt his erection squeezed hard. He thought for a moment that he might have hurt the man below him, but it passed when he felt him shift and push back against him. That was all he’d needed. He began a hard brutal pace. He’d just come, so he didn’t worry about ending things to soon. He just let go. Sasuke wasn’t still either. He pushed back with every thrust. The heat was amazing. One hand slid over Sasuke’s chest as he tried to hold them closer together, chest to back. He wanted to be as close as possible. The feel of the man below him was the most brilliant experience of his life and he just couldn’t seem to get close enough. He trailed kisses over tight skin and felt the shift of each muscle under his lips. It wasn’t enough though. He couldn’t get deep enough. He sat up pulling Sasuke with him and felt the cry of passion reverberate through Sasuke’s back as he was pierced further. Finally he was where he needed to be. It was perfect, and his thrusts were more powerful with Sasuke slamming down on him. He held Sasuke tight to his chest and whispered in his ear between thrusts, “touch… yourself…” He didn’t know if Sasuke understood the words, but he did as he was told.
Naruto watched over Sasuke’s shoulder as he pumped his cock so fast his hand was almost a blur. Sasuke slammed down on his cock hard and he came, shooting over his chest and Naruto’s arms. Naruto was spellbound, and he felt himself follow, jerking his hips forward trying to get even deeper with each pulse.
Sasuke was relaxing now, and Naruto’s arms tightened around him to hold him in place. He wasn’t ready to be apart yet. He didn’t think in that moment that he ever would be. They fit so perfectly together that Naruto felt that strange sensation of déjà vu again. Somehow he knew deep down somewhere in his memory that he’d known this man before. They’d been together like this before. If only he could remember. They finally slid apart, and Sasuke pulled a towel from under the bed to wipe them off, and then pulled the covers back so they could slide in. There was a moment when Naruto felt awkward when Sasuke turned away from him, but it was gone when he felt him moved back until they were touching from head to toe. Naruto’s arm slid around Sasuke’s waist and as they started to drift off to sleep a thought flitted through Naruto’s mind.
Sasuke had said Naruto’s name when he came.
They slept through the night, and when the sun rose in the morning, light streamed in through the windows lighting the room fully for the first time. Naruto woke gradually at first, but when he realized that he wasn’t alone or in his bed he opened his eyes. He saw then that the warmth he’d felt next to him was not the man from the night before, but the little black fox curled up against his chest and purring warmly in his sleep. Naruto pulled away gently not wanting to wake the creature and decided to find the bathroom before he looked for Sasuke. He found the small room behind the one other door in the bedroom and finished cleaning up from the night before all the while wondering where his strange lover had disappeared to. When he came back into the bedroom the kitsune was still curled into the covers of the bed breathing softy in sleep.
Naruto noticed then that the byobu had been moved here to this room. He took the opportunity to study it closer. Each depiction speaking to his soul pulling such strong emotions from him that he couldn’t ever remember feeling throughout his long hard life. As he came to the last panel he felt strong arms encircle his waist and warm smooth skin come flush with his back. He leaned into the embrace and wondered what it was about this man that held him so captivated. He’d never been an easy lay, in truth he’d had few lovers in his life, and nothing so strange and amazing as this.
Sasuke lifted his hand and pointed to the two foxes curled together. “Watashidomo.” He whispered in Naruto’s ear and held him tighter. Naruto hated that he couldn’t understand. The language barrier at work had been a minor inconvenience, but here with this man it was frustrating in the extreme. He needed so much to understand. Sasuke seemed to sense his discomfort and let go of Naruto’s body to take his hand and pull him closer to the panel. He ran his finger along the black fox as if he were petting a real animal. “Sasuke” he said quietly still looking at the black fox. Naruto didn’t understand though and Sasuke could see it in his face so he went further.
He ran his hand over the blonde fox and this time the touch was much more reverent. It reminded Naruto of how he’d been touched the night before. “Naruto” Sasuke said and he looked toward Naruto again for his reaction.
Naruto was thinking that Sasuke was trying to say that the foxes were named Sasuke and Naruto, but how could that be. Had he been stalked by this man? Was he using the fox pet to follow and keep track of him? “I don’t understand.” He said as he shook his head in denial.
Frustration crossed Sasuke’s face. It seemed the language barrier was as irritating to him as it was to Naruto, but he looked determined so Naruto wasn’t surprised when he tried again. He held his hand up to the black fox again and then placed the hand over his heart. “Sasuke.” He said with force. Then he took Naruto’s hand and put it on the blonde fox and then moved his hand to his chest and said “Naruto.” His eyes were serious when he said it, and Naruto thought he might understand what he was trying to say, but it was ridiculous.
“So you’re saying I’m the fox?” Sasuke breathed as sigh of relief. “Hai.”
Naruto laughed, but stopped immediately at the glare he received. Sasuke took a step back from him and Naruto thought for a moment he’d tell Naruto to leave when Sasuke started to shrink. Naruto gasped in horror as he watched black fir spring from his skin and he was suddenly the black fox with stunning red eyes. He blinked up at Naruto a couple of times and took a step toward him, but Naruto was afraid. He took a step back and then another. He had to leave. This was too much for him to take in. The man he’d spent the night with last night was a kitsune just like the ones he’d read about. It wasn’t possible, but he had seen it with his own eyes.
He turned to leave, but he was stopped when strong human arms wrapped around him and held him tight. “Zairyuu…” Sasuke whispered into his ear. It was a pleading sound, and Naruto found he couldn’t refuse.
He ended up staying the rest of the day. Sasuke didn’t let him get farther than arms reach the entire time. They showered together and dressed in more pajama pants. Sasuke made him breakfast, never letting a whole minute go by without touching or holding him in some way. They tried to talk, but had more success with making love, but Naruto realized that if he wanted to understand what was happening he’d have to spend time with Sasuke, and more importantly he’d have to learn Japanese.
Life was moving forward quite nicely for Naruto. It had been nearly a year since he’d met Sasuke. He’d moved in to the house less than a month later. With the proper motivation he’d learned the language quickly. It turned out that Sasuke was truly a kitsune. His home was the same one he’d shared with Naruto for several of their lives. Once Naruto was able to understand, Sasuke explained to him that they were tamashii no tomo that had found each other thousands of years ago and discovered a way to be reborn together over and over. Naruto had been skeptical at first, but the feeling inside him was too strong to deny.
Sasuke had explained over several months that they had a shared magic, but only one of them could be born with it so only one could retain the memories of their lives from birth. They had supposedly traded off this experience so that they would equally experience the pain of separation during their growing period. Sasuke expressed his fear at this life since it had taken so long to find his lover. They’d never been separated so far or so long before, but it didn’t matter. They were together now.
Naruto had thought that Sasuke was a little crazy, but he’d fallen for him so fast that he didn’t mind the fantasy. Those fantasies had turned out to be a very good thing for him though since they inspired his own manga. He now ran his own department and was allowed total creative freedom. Sasuke sulked at the time he spent away, but his work hours were nothing like they’d been before he’d actually had someone to come home to.
He still wasn’t truly convinced that Sasuke’s wild stories were true until one Saturday afternoon they were walking through a park enjoying the weather when suddenly it started to rain. This downpour however was strange. Sasuke called it kitsune no yomeiri or sun shower. It was fun playing in the rain while the sun was still shining and just as the rain began to pound down from the sky Sasuke wrapped his arms around Naruto and kissed him passionately. Naruto felt different instantly. Something had passed to him from his lover in that kiss, and when they broke apart Sasuke was smiling broadly.
Naruto suddenly understood why. Actually he understood everything. He remembered. Everything. Their love, their lives, and the past. It was all true; every word in that confusing language Sasuke spoke had been true as well as the struggle depicted in the byobu. A moment later he realized he spoke Japanese fluently, and kitsune no yomeiri was not just a sun shower, but the literal translation was fox’s wedding. “We’re married.” He said to Sasuke. “We are now.” Was the reply and though it was spoken in Japanese he didn’t have to concentrate to figure out what was said.
He smiled when he realized that he could shift now. He really was the blonde kitsune. He shifted and was joined immediately by the black fox. They played in the storm until it was long passed and the sun had set. Naruto was filled with memories of the past and passion for the future. He would make the sacrifice of separation next time, but it would be ages before they’d be finished with this life. He had plans and he knew just how to get what he wanted. After all Sasuke had never been able to tell him no. That was definitely a good thing to remember.
