You Belong With Me
Inspired by one of my favorite songs. I hope you like it.

Naruto looked over at Sasuke, who was still on the phone arguing with his girlfriend. He sighed and shook his head before turning his attention back to his homework. Every night it was the same thing. Karin called Sasuke to whine and cry about something Sasuke had said as a joke. Sasuke would argue with her for an hour or so and then Karin would hang up on him in an angry fit. Sasuke would slam his phone shut then proceed to throw it across the room. Naruto smirked as he listened to the conversation; they were coming up on the part where Karin would hang up on him. Sure enough, Naruto heard a shout, a click, a snap and a thud as the phone hit the wall. He shut his book and looked at his friend who had his head in his hands.
“One of these days, your phone is gonna break.”
Sasuke looked at his friend and smirked. He sat on the bed next to Naruto and opened his book.
“Well if that does happen at least I won’t have to deal with these meaningless arguments anymore.”
“You could just do the easy thing and break up with her.”
“It’s not that bad.”
Naruto rolled his eyes.
“That’s what you always say. When will it ever be that bad? When she’s driven you past the line of insanity?”
“Naruto, can we not do this tonight? I just got done fighting with her; I don’t want to fight with you.”
Naruto sighed in defeat. He couldn’t understand why Sasuke wanted to stay with her. She was shallow, selfish and annoying. It probably didn’t help that since they had reached puberty, Naruto had had a secret crush on Sasuke. Over the years it had developed more and more and then Naruto realized he was in love with his best friend. Naturally he had kept it a secret from Sasuke. Then she came along.
2 years ago Karin moved to their high school and quickly became attached to Sasuke. Even though it took her a year, she finally convinced Sasuke to be her boyfriend. Naruto hadn’t been worried at the time. He figured, like all the other girls, she would get tired of his stoic, cold nature and leave him. But she was a persistent little bitch and she never left sasuke’s side. Sasuke for some unkown reason stayed with her and naruto couldn’t be more jealous.
“I just don’t see why you continue to put yourself through this agony. She’s so stuck-up and moody all the time. It’s like she’s constantly on the rag or something.”
Sasuke scowled at naruto and slamed his book shut. He was frustrated that the one night he got to spend with Naruto, they always had to agrue about Karin. He never got to see his best friend anymore because of football practice and hanging out with Karin. Tuesday was the only day he was free. Free from stupid sports he was forced to play because his father wanted him to be like his brother. Free from listening to his girlfriend go on and on about the other cheerleaders and how slutty they were.
“Naruto, I don’t want to talk about it. Can we just hang out and forget about Karin?”
Suddenly his cell phone rang across the room. He recognized the ringtone immediately as Karin’s. He walked across the room and picked up his phone. Before he could answer it, he heard naruto getting up and packing his stuff. He pressed the ignore button and turned his full attention to his best friend.
“Where are you going?”
“Home. You and Karin are gonna be making up soon and no offense, don’t want to hear that shit.”
Naruto walked past Sasuke to his door but stopped. He turned to look at Sasuke who was still looking at him, his eyes asking him to stay. Naruto sighed and opened the door.
“I hope you realize she’s not right for you. I’ll see you later.”
The door shut and Sasuke sighed in frustration. His phone went off again but this time he picked it up and just as naruto predicted, within 10 minutes, Karin and Sasuke had made up.
