01) Troubled

“T-Take me to Baa-chan,” Naruto Uzumaki, an now 19 year old Konoha ANBU captain groaned when his teammates dragged him towards the medical facility next to the Hokage Tower. It had been peaceful for almost a year after the Akatsuki had been defeated, but lately new troublemakers were showing up everywhere.

“Captain, please hold on, we are almost there,” Kiba told his masked team leader who was falling in and out of consciousness after being attacked and wounded by nearly ten Cloud nin who had attacked the blonde jinchuuriki with an unknown jutsu.

The nation of the hidden cloud were very aggressive and seemed to have grudge against Konoha, even though Naruto helped to save the life of the eight tails host who was the protector of the city hidden in clouds.

The cloud nin had managed t o separate Naruto from his team after they had been lured into a trap by under a false pretense. The Cloud nin had trapped the blonde jinchuuriki in some kind of chakra field before running him through with their swords which had left Naruto badly wounded.

Ino had thankfully been on their team and had been able to stop the bleeding since the Kyuubi didn´t seem to heal his host like it was supposed to after its host had been stabbed. Naruto should have been feeling better by now because of Ino´s medical skills, but the opposite was the fact.

The blonde ANBU captain was pale as a sheet of paper, puking his guts out and he couldn´t carry his own weight either which forced his team to carry him.

“N-Neji…Tell B-Baa-chan that… that K-Kyuubi…He´s in pain too.”

“Captain?!” Neji called out to the man he was carrying on his back, but he never got an answer because the jinchuuriki had passed out.

Tsunade, the fifth Hokage of Konoha-gakure was pacing the ward on the quarantine level of the hospital, waiting for Naruto to regain consciousness. The whisker marked nin had been sleeping for three weeks so far, and more than once had she been forced to call Yamato to suppress the Kyuubi´s powers. The nine tailed demon was trying to escape through the seal of the sun that was supposed to keep him trapped inside of Naruto’s body.

The Cloud nin had used some kind of jutsu that had a damaging effect on the seal after they had caught the blonde nin, and whatever they had done affected the nine tailed bijuu as well as his jinchuuriki. The Hokage had done whatever she possibly could to repair the seal, but she had failed every time. A new seal had to be created, a seal that would be stronger than the now broken one.

“Hokage-sama, the tracking team is waiting for you,” Neji told her when he came to take her place, watching over his team captain and friend while Tsunade left to go to her office.

“He will die if don´t do something soon,” The Hokage told the four nin who had volunteered to go on a risky mission in last attempt to save Naruto´s life. “There is only two things that I can do to save his life… and one of them is what I want you to help me with.”

“Whatever you need us to do, we will,” Kiba Inuzuka said, and his always faithful Akamaru barked in agreement.

“Anything,” Sakura Haruno added and looked at a silent, but nodding Shino and a way to serious looking Iruka. “We won´t give up on him without a fight.”

“We better not,” the Hokage told them, and she sighed before pouring herself some Sake. “But you must understand that what I am asking of you is highly dangerous, and the council aren´t informed about this yet, so I don´t know what will happen if you would succeed in bringing this person back here.”

“Just tell us what you need us to do,” the brown haired academy teacher said. Too many good people had died already, and he´d be damned if Naruto would end up just like Jiraiya.

Kakashi and Shizune had been lucky; Naruto´s big heart had managed to persuade Nagato to bring them back to life before his death. Konoha owed a lot to Naruto and now it was their turn to save their blonde fox.

“I need you to track down Uchiha Sasuke and bring him back here. He is the only one who can keep the Kyuubi in control and save Naruto´s life if we should fail to create a new permanent seal to replace the old one.”

Naruto woke up a few days after Sakura´s team had left, feeling disorientated and in a lot of pain. His skin burned because the Kyuubi´s poisonous chakra leaked through the partially broken seal and both host and demon suffered greatly.

“Gaki, I need you to calm down,” Tsunade told the groaning nin who tossed and turned in the bed so that the seasoned medic had a hard time to examine the younger man. “I have to at least try this new sealing jutsu on you.”

“Nngh don´t touch me!” Naruto cried out when she grabbed his arm to be able to get closer without him hitting her by mistake with his erratic movement. Her touch stung him as if he had been stabbed by a poisoned kunai and he yanked his arm back. “Please, it hurts, hurts so much!”

Tsunade wanted to help him but this reaction was new since Naruto usually wasn´t the type of shinobi who whined that easily. If he reacted like this then she knew that it had to be really bad, and she felt the tears sting in her eyes when she ordered the ANBU present in the room to force him to hold still while she placed the new seal on his feverish skin.

A scream of sheer agony tore through the hospital before the blonde jinchuuriki passed out from the pain even before Tsunade had finished placing the new seal on top of the old one.

“What do we do now Hokage-sama?” the ANBU captain with the rat mask asked her. Shikamaru didn´t approve of the rough treatment towards Naruto but as long as he was on duty he would have to suck it up, and it really would be too troublesome to deal with an angry Hokage if he voiced his emotions on this matter. He knew that she cared greatly about Naruto and probably hated herself right now… And a shinobi on duty was nothing but a tool that had to obey his master´s command without hesitation; emotions were banned and unwanted.

“…Isolate him here with a two man watch 24/7, let no one enter this room without my permission… Let me know if his condition changes in any way,” the blonde Kage told him. “Let´s pray that this new seal that I invented will help him…If not then…” she didn´t want to think about what the council members had told her to do if the new seal didn´t work and Naruto´s condition worsened.

The consequence of failure was something she wanted to avoid along with the fact that she still needed to inform the council that she had sent out a team to search for Uchiha Sasuke… maybe she could postpone telling them for another week.

Lightning bolts hit the dirt and made team Shino scatter to avoid being roasted alive. They had managed to track Sasuke down at the country of the Rock after searching for nearly four weeks, and it was an understatement to say that he was unhappy to see them.

“Sasuke!” Sakura called out to the raven haired man who was about to leave now that he had told them that this was his last warning and that his next attack would actually hit them. “Please listen to me, five minutes is all we ask for.”

“Hn.” The Uchiha jumped onto a thick branch, looking forward to get rid of his annoying tail. He didn´t want to listen to her, why should he? The girl was a pain and there would be no point in wasting valuable time in listening to her pleading for him to come home... though it was a little bit strange that the Dobe wasn´t there with her this time.

Whenever there was a search party sent out to find the last remaining Uchiha, Naruto was usually the first to volunteer to come along. The Dobe seemed to lack the ability to let go of the past which never stopped to amaze Sasuke, especially since they always fought each other even when they were still teammates.

´He should hate me, and keep his distance if he knew what was healthy but I guess that the Dobe is just too stupid to get the message that I won´t come back no matter what he´ll do.` Sasuke narrowed his eyes in anger when Sakura caught up with him, grabbing onto the sleeve of his white gi. “And Naruto never did learn what was good for him and what isn´t, just look at his unhealthy habit to eat that damn noodle soup all the time.`

“It´s about Naruto, he needs your help,” the pink haired girl pleaded.

“So?” the raven growled even though he slowed his pace to give her a chance to fill him in. He couldn´t say that he was surprised that the blonde idiot had gotten himself into trouble again… but what did Sasuke have to do with it? Sudden curiosity made him stop and he decided that he could spare her five minutes of his time.

“He was attacked and the Kyuubi´s seal got damaged, he´ll die if you don´t help him,” the pink haired girl told him and looked at him with green eyes filled with sincerity and seriousness.

“…What an Usuratonkachi,” he muttered before he jumped down from the tree and sat down on a boulder a few steps away from his former teammate and her friends who had finally caught up to them. “So you expect me to return to Konoha and help him just because you want me to?”

“Yes,” Sakura poured all of her sincerity into her answer.

“I don´t think so,” Sasuke said plainly while taking a sip of a water bottle that he had acquired from one of his scrolls. “I have no business in Konoha right now, and you could be filling me with nothing but bullshit. I have no reason to trust you even if I gave a damn about the Dobe´s life.”

“Why you, heartless bastard!” Iruka cried out and he would have attacked the Uchiha heir if Kiba hadn´t held him back. “He sacrificed so much for you and just wanted to be your friend. He missed you so much and only wanted that you were safe!”

“I never asked him to do that,” the raven said coldly, his Sharingan spinning fiercely while he seized their strength and determination. He could see that they were telling the truth, they weren´t showing any signs of trying to lure him back under false pretenses, or that this was some kind of trap to assassinate him because they were all he could sense in a five mile radius.

Sasuke wondered what kind of trouble the Dobe had gotten himself into this time, and it made him want to know more even though it didn´t show.

“And yet he did,” Sakura hissed. She was just as disappointed and angry as Iruka was, but no matter how badly she wanted to smack Sasuke one really hard she knew that they were no match for him, not even if they attacked him all at once they would still lose. “Please, I beg of you… Save Naruto.”

“…” The raven laced his fingers and rested his chin on them, thinking things through. Something was wrong, they wouldn´t go through all this trouble to find him if it wasn´t serious. Sasuke wanted to know more before he would agree to anything and he surely wasn´t going to do anything for free. “No.”

“…Why not?” Shino asked. The calm kikai user was nearly at the end of his patience with this stubborn man. He might look calm on the outside but on the inside his insects were eager to attack the Uchiha, knock him out and just drag his sorry ass back to Konoha with them. “He is in great pain and we need the Sharingan´s unique skill to be able to fix the seal that the shinobi from the hidden cloud broke when they used some kind of forbidden jutsu against Naruto-kun.”

“…” A black eyebrow rose and a devious smirk crept onto pale lips. Shino had just given him the information he was fishing for since the best way to learn something was to seek out the source, and the source in this matter was probably hiding somewhere in the country of the clouds. “I see, and what would my expertise and the Dobe´s life be worth to you?”

“…” Now it was the four leaf nin turn to be silent while they thought about this new turn of things.

“I will give you anything that I own,” Iruka offered. “Even my life.”

“Pah I don´t want your life,” the Uchiha snorted and felt slightly offended. The chuunin´s life wasn´t worth much in Sasuke´s opinion, no he wanted something of much bigger value. “If I wanted you dead I would have killed you days ago and spared myself the annoyance of having you stalking me.”

“Then what do you want?” Sakura asked the man she once had looked upon as an angel, but now regarded as the devil himself. “Money? Scrolls? To get rid of the bounty on your head?” Her voice was filled with resentment and anger, and she didn´t give a damn if he didn´t like her tone. The only reason she was here was to save Naruto, nothing more, in fact she would have been happy if she never would have to see him again after he saved Naruto´s life.

“The last one, yes, but there is something else that I want more than that,” Sasuke said in a tone that made cold chills run down the leaf nin´s spines. “I still have some unfinished business inside the walls of Konoha that I want to be allowed to deal with in any way I see fit… but I guess I would have to speak to your Hokage directly about that.”

Hinata sat on the chair next to Naruto´s bed, holding his hand, like she had done every day for the past month. He had yet to wake up after the seal had been placed on top of the old seal and his skin still burned with a vicious fever.

The medics had been forced to cover his body in ice cubes to avoid that his brain would fry. They were currently working on a new kind of pain meds that would be able to lower his body temperature before he would burn up.

The young woman was worried sick about him. She loved him and it tore her heart apart to watch him like this. She knew that her clans’ best medics were working overtime to help out and it made her truly proud to be a Hyuuga.

“Naruto-kun, please wake up… or at least give us some kind of sign that your health is improving,” she whispered and rose from the chair. Her delicate hands cupped his feverish cheeks, tracing the whisker marks with her thumbs. “We are doing all that we can to help you. Naruto-kun…I-I love you… I love you so much… please wake up.”

She leaned closer, reducing the space between his mouth and hers. His lips tasted like salt and were harder than she had imagined. His lips looked so soft, but despite their hardness she liked the tingling feeling that filled her when she kissed him. “I would give anything to make you feel better.”

“H-Hinata-chan?” the blonde´s lips moved against her and the Hyuuga heir realized that Naruto was waking up.

“S-Sorry,” she stuttered and backed away only to crash into to chair, she tripped over the wooden furniture and landed hard on her rear. Hinata hadn´t meant for him to find out that she was kissing him… or that she had been doing it every time she was here with him alone.

“W-Where?” Naruto´s voice was ragged, almost as if he was in need of water which was probably right since his body dehydrated pretty fast due to his high body temperature and metabolism. Hinata jumped to her feet and rushed to his side to help him with whatever he needed.

“You are at the hospital, at the quarantine section of sub level 7,” she told him before she helped him to take a sip of water. “How do you feel?”

“P-Pain, burning,” the jinchuuriki groaned and buried his face in his hands. “N-Need...Need Nngh.” Blue eyes focused on her before they bleed orange-red, Hinata suddenly realized that Naruto wasn´t Naruto anymore when he grabbed her arm, breaking the creamy skin with newly grown claws. Something was very wrong and she knew that she was in big trouble.

She stumbled away from him and cried out in shock when he slipped out of the bed in one fluid movement, following her as if he was a cat about to catch a mouse. Hinata knew that this creature in front of her wasn´t the man she loved, but a predator that was ruled by animal instincts alone.

“N-Naruto…” the young woman had to think fast. She knew that creatures like animals and demons were ruled by either hunger or lust rather than rage, and she had act smart since she didn´t feel like becoming his dinner, even if she was willing to die for him.

This room was created to keep even the strongest shinobi trapped, and it was soundproof. Her shift wasn´t over for another hour and since her partner had gone home early because he was sick with the flu she was on her own. There was no way that Naruto would allow her to reach the door and use the five digit code to escape, which made her take a deep breath after making up her mind.

“I have always wanted to sleep with you Naruto-kun, I just didn´t imagine that it would be like this.” She unzipped her baggy shirt and slid it off her arms before stepping forward, offering herself to the growling, blonde demon.
