Protective

Chouji smiled as he watched his lover walk into the room carrying two drinks. He waited for him to set the drinks down before he reached up and tugged the smaller man into his lap with a grin. “Mmm, you’re getting as big as I am.” He teased, chuckling when the other man batted at him, pushing his hands away a bit. He knew he was teasing though; they did a lot of teasing and cuddling now. No more sex, nope, the pregnancy was too high risk. Neither of them would risk the growing life even though they were both craving and pining for each other. They had found out early on that Shikamaru was a lot more fragile then he looked… at least he was fragile like this. The first time he had passed out… Chouji had freaked out so now they were very careful. They weren’t taking any chances, no stress, not a lot of activity and a careful diet were followed to the letter.

“Don’t tease me.” Shikamaru murmured, pouting as he reached down to cover up his growing stomach. He looked up at Chouji, his lip still stuck out as he pouted at his lover; it always seemed to get him his way and he was using that now. He wasn’t anywhere near as big as Chouji but his stomach had been growing rapidly for the past couple weeks. For the first two months, he had stayed mostly flat but now he had… ballooned. He felt fat, yes, but Chouji had made sure to tell him there was a large difference between pregnant and fat and… he was no where near fat. He sighed slightly when he felt the other mans hand smooth over his stomach, cupping the bump protectively as he was pulled into a kiss. Yes, that was very nice, even if they couldn’t have sex, they could have these little moments. It might not be as god as sex but it made him feel all cuddly and warm anyway.

“I was just teasing.” Chouji murmured, cuddling the Nara close as he sighed, the soft kicking against his hand making him smile brightly. After their scare, they had been so worried they would lose the baby so these little kicks were all that more precious. He was still amazed he had a lover… and even more amazed they had a child on the way. He didn’t know what he had done to deserve this but… he was so very glad that he had done it. “I think it’s about time you laid down… put your feet up.” He suddenly said, shifting Shikamaru and laying him down on the couch with a hum. Yes, a little nap would be what was best for his little lover.

Unfortunately, Shikamaru didn’t think that same way. “Chouji…” The other mans name came out almost as a whine as he struggled to sit back up, pushing himself up before Chouji promptly pushed him back down again, lifting his head to settle a pillow under it. “Come on Chou, all I did was walk into the kitchen and get us some drinks. It’s not like I ran a marathon or something.” He murmured, pushing at Chouji’s hands when the Akimichi stubbornly held him against the couch. “Chouji.” This time it was a whine, another slight struggle ensuing before Shikamaru just gave up, huffing slightly as he let his body fall back against the couch again. “Fine.” God… why did he even try? The other man was so overly protective that he wouldn’t even let him walk into town alone anymore, why would he think he would let him up after making up his mind on the matter?

“I thought you would see it my way.” Chouji murmured, leaning over Shikamaru to give him another soft kiss, very careful to not press against his stomach as he rubbed their lips softly together. That little baby bump was so precious to both of them; he wouldn’t press against it, especially not with his weight. He was worried about crushing Shikamaru if he laid on top of him, what would happen to their baby? He sighed softly when he pulled back, looking down at Shikamaru with a loving, gentle smile. “Just… rest for a little bit… for me, ok?” He asked, swallowing a bit as he looked down at Shikamaru.

“I just don’t think…” Shikamaru let his words trail off when he looked up at Chouji, a slight sigh coming from his throat when he took in the look on his lovers face. He was so open about his emotions… and right now his protectiveness and want to take care of him was showing through so clearly not even Shikamaru could ignore it. “Ok.” He murmured, smiling softly as he reached up to touch the other man softly. “I’ll lay here for a little bit, I promise.”

“Thank you.” Chouji murmured, sitting back at the end of the couch with Shikamaru’s legs draped over his lap. This way Shikamaru could lie down and he still had full access to the Nara’s stomach. It was a win, win situation. He smiled as he reached up, pushing Shikamaru’s shirt up to touch his rounded stomach skin to skin, his hand rubbing circles over the soft skin. They sat there for a while like that; his hand moving over the smaller mans stomach as they just rested. He smiled when his lovers breathing evened out, the rising and falling of his chest slowing to a gentle sleep. Apparently Shikamaru had needed the nap without even knowing it himself.

Yes, he might be overprotective. Yes, he might make Shikamaru do things that he didn’t think were absolutely necessary but he only had his best interests in mind. Chouji loved the Nara, he loved this baby and he loved their life. If this was what it took to have moments like this where they could just sit together, Chouji rubbing Shikamaru’s stomach as Shikamaru slept peacefully… he would be overprotective forever. Yes, it might be annoying but… it was all for he better. His protectiveness just showed his love.

And they both loved that.

AN: Hmmm, I dun have much to say about this.

I needed fluff so… here be fluff! You all will probably see more fluff and plot stories from me… doing PWP all the time is starting to get annoying. No offense to those of you who love PWP, I love it too. I just need something with more substance.
