The Wreckoning

The Wreckoning

A/N: I've dabbled in this fandom before under a different username (that is no longer active). All that shit has been erased and gone. Now I try again. I lurk around enough to get some inspiration, eh?
Disclaimer: Don't own anything. Duh.
Warnings: Language, some violence, slight AU, hot smutty man sex. At first it seems like it's from Naruto's POV but then it develops into Sasuke's. I suck at writing out Naruto POV's. :/

Summary: A day will come when Sasuke will return to Konoha; a day will come when he will make a pact to never wreck anyone's life, or break another heart, again.

A/N 2: Did some minor edits, grammar and spelling and whatnot. Man it's been a long day and I'm too stubborn to have a beta.

Skin was still pale as ever, milky and smooth in the twilight of the evening. Hair was still black as coal, glimmering slightly with hidden midnight blue highlights. And those eyes... those eyes were still as dark and condescending as ever, even as Uchiha Sasuke stood in the middle of the Hokage Tower.

"What brings you back to Konoha on peaceful terms?"

From behind his desk, Naruto appeared relaxed as he reclined back in his chair, one hand resting on the arm of the chair and the other propped on the opposite arm, chin cradled in tan fingers. In actuality, the blond was reeling. Why was Sasuke back? Why had he just walked into the village so nonchalantly, as if he hadn't betrayed them and left them all for dead? But the biggest conundrum was why Sasuke was in Naruto's office, not asking for forgiveness, yet not asking for a war, either. Sasuke was just... there. As if he hadn't disappeared and abandoned them, waged war on them, destroyed them. As if he still... belonged.

Sasuke's stare was even, and Naruto could see his jaw flex underneath the porcelain flesh that covered his feminine, prominent cheek bones.

"Who said I was here on peaceful terms?" the Uchiha said, folding his arms over his chest. He no longer wore the uniform of Orochimaru, and was instead clothed in midnight blue and black robes. A fitting kimono that, under any other circumstances would have Naruto laughing at the irony and the fact that the Great Uchiha was dressed like a woman, instead was overlooked as Naruto narrowed his cerulean eyes with the raven's reply.

"Are you here to declare war?" the blond countered, leaning forward in his chair and scooting a bit closer to his desk. He glanced down and scoured the various documents in front of him briefly, "There is no indication of you belonging to any Villages. So unless you decided to become a one-man army, you have other reasons for being here."

"Your newfound maturity and intelligence surprises me, dobe."

The comment didn't go unheard, and Naruto's fingers drummed impatiently on his desk. Sasuke was right, though; in the past years Naruto had matured and grown into a man that was respected and admired for his leadership skills and easy ways of politics.

"Well, that's your fault for not being around to share in my growth."

Their insults, to an outsider, would seem lame and hardly anything to take notice. But as one-time best friends, long-time rivals, each party was feeling their own level of shame and hurt. Naruto was feeling sad that Sasuke seemed to really believe that he wasn't going to change with his years; Sasuke was feeling guilt in the fact that he hadn't been there to witness the beautiful change. Indeed, Naruto had grown to be a beautiful individual. He always had been. Tacking on years of maturity and growth added to it.

For a moment they stayed silent, merely glaring at each other. From one corner of the room Kakashi watched with mild interest; he had taken Sasuke on as a pupil before he skipped town and therefore felt responsible for his actions. Guilt had eaten him up since the day the young Uchiha left. Right now, he was acting as a mediator, should the circumstances become extreme.

After another moment, Naruto glanced over at Kakashi. "Sensei, please excuse us."

Hands shoved in his pockets, Kakashi let out a sigh and shrugged, before he made his way to the door. Before he exited, he shot a glance at Sasuke, as if to warn him not to do anything stupid, before he moved into the hallway. Sasuke was slightly miffed; usually it was Naruto getting those looks, and to be on the receiving end of such a message was slightly insulting.

But then again, given his history, he couldn't blame the Thousand Jutsu user.

"Why are you here, Sasuke?" Now Naruto's voice took on a slightly weary tone, and the Uchiha took in the other's appearance with a bit more interest.

His hair was still annoyingly bright, skin impossibly bronze, and eyes like the deepest ocean. He had grown taller, exceeding Sasuke's height by probably three inches, and his body was now indefinitely more defined. He wore his father's old coat with pride, his Jounin attire underneath. He had climbed up in the world. But those eyes...

Sasuke felt his chest tighten as those eyes, which bore the saddest glint he had ever seen in their depths, peered into his own.

"There can't be anything left to destroy." Naruto dropped his gaze and started to idly straighten documents on his desk.

"Who says I'm here to cause damage?" Sasuke asked, slightly defensive.

Naruto raised a brow and gave Sasuke a 'are you kidding me?' look.

"I'm not. I'm here to let you know that I'm not running, anymore." Suddenly Sasuke felt a bit smaller, with his admission. He wanted to fold his arms over his chest and curl into himself, but instead he kept his hands clasped in front of his body in an innocent gesture, his feet evenly spread to give the impression of confidence. Without pockets to shove the appendages into, he was feeling antsy.

"What were you running from?" Naruto asked, his features wrought with confusion and concern.

"I don't know."

Those three words were words that Uchiha Sasuke always had a problem saying out loud. Only now, under Naruto's scrutiny, was he able to say them freely - with conviction. He really didn't know what he was running from.

Silence hung in the air and Naruto stood from his desk, his tanned fingertips trailing the oak surface as he rounded it to get on the same side as Sasuke. The raven's eyes were glued to those fingertips, how they almost sensually stroked the polished wood before Naruto's voice made his attention snap back up to the blond's features.

"So why did you come back?"

Insistent as ever, Sasuke thought idly. He resisted the urge to sigh, and tried to keep a look of indifference on his face.

"I don't know."

"There has to be a reason!" Naruto suddenly burst, taking a few strides forward and fisting his strong hands in the collar of the midnight robes. He shook Sasuke once, but the slightly smaller ninja stayed stoic. "You can't just waltz back into the city you first abandoned and then destroyed expecting everything to be hunky dory!"

"I never said that was my intention," Sasuke growled, his voice low and menacing. Finally his eyes narrowed and he reached up to wrench the Hokage's hands away from his kimono, shucking them aside viciously.

"Quit avoiding the God damn question you bastard and tell me why the fuck you're back!"

Naruto was fuming. It was evident in his wild eyes, his slightly uneven breathing, and his tense posture. The 'old' Naruto was obviously still very much alive, lurking under the surface of the calm pretense that he had adopted as Hokage. Sasuke could still ruffle his feathers. And with that observation, Sasuke folded his arms over his chest and tilted his nose up in a snooty manner.

"I thought you'd be a little happy to see me," he said, and though his nose was in the air there was a slight pout to his voice.

"Happy!?"

Get mad.

"Why the fuck would I be happy to see the person that abandoned me so easily!?"

No... get pissed.

"You didn't even think twice before you decided to leave all of us behind and move on!"

Tell me how much you hate me.

"And after all of the atrocious things you did to me, you try to come back as if it didn't happen, like I should miss you!"

There was something off about that sentence.

'the atrocious things you did to... me'

Not to the village. Not to the people. Not to his friends.

To Naruto.

And... that is exactly what Sasuke had been hoping to hear.

Without hesitation the Uchiha reached his hands up and cupped tan cheeks, forcing the blond's head down so their lips could meet in a fiery delivered kiss. Frozen in shock for just a second, Naruto tore his head away from the tantalizing lips and glared hotly at Sasuke. A wetness was making the cerulean pools glimmer, and Sasuke thunked their foreheads together.

"Usuratonkachi." He said it with a hint of affection.

A hot tear slid down a scarred cheek.

"Teme."

"You don't need to pretend you hate me, you know."

"I do hate you!" Naruto sobbed, his resolve crumbling as he hit the Uchiha's chest with a lame fist. Once again he clutched that the raven's robes, this time in an attempt to keep him upright. "I hate you so much, it hurts..."

Staring straight ahead as the strong warrior before him broke into a million tiny pieces, Sasuke stayed motionless. He made no move to comfort the Hokage; he didn't wrap his arms around that powerful body, nor did his hands smooth over the others' back.

"You don't hate me." His voice was full of conviction, once again. He knew.

"Yes, I do..."

A smirk filtered over pale lips, "Say it like you mean it."

"I fucking hate you, Uchiha Sasuke!"

Charcoal eyes closed and the raven stepped away, Naruto straightening and sniffling as he wiped his nose on the sleeve of his trench coat. His eyes were downcast and Sasuke felt his chest tighten again.

"I will stay on whatever terms you decide," the Uchiha said, his eyes trying to look condescending, but doing nothing to hide the strange emotion swirling in their depths. "You can let me know in twenty-four hours."

And with a light breeze that filtered through the room, Sasuke was gone, and Naruto was still staring at the floor.

xoxoxoxoxox

The afternoon was obnoxiously bright, and stupidly warm. Seated at the table in the kitchen of the Uchiha Manor, Sasuke stared at the cup of tea he cradled in his hands. Birds were chirping outside, and an odd sense of loneliness seemed to consume the last living Uchiha. After the massacre he'd stayed in this house as a reminder to what he needed to do with his life, and that was kill his brother and exact revenge for the massacre of his family. But Itachi was dead, Sasuke was back in Konohagakure, and there was no longer a dogma that was attached to his presence being inside of the Manor. It was the only place he could go. So far only Naruto and Kakashi knew that Sasuke was back in town; he wasn't even sure how the village was going to react to him even stepping foot inside their walls again.

He wasn't expecting a warm welcome, that's for sure. But he wasn't met with any hostility from Naruto (well... considering) or Kakashi, and with their influence the rest of the village could be assuaged as well. Or so he hoped.

Letting out a sigh, he brought the cup of tea to his lips and took a sip, suddenly deciding that he should be drinking a chill beverage on such a warm day. As it were, he was dressed in his usual old white shorts, but instead of the blue turtleneck he donned a black v-neck tee, the Uchiha crest a small symbol on the breast pocket.

A hawk landed on the kitchen windowsill and cawed for the you man's attention, and Sasuke raised a brow. A note was clutched in one of its talons, so the ninja stood to carefully reach out and gently take the scroll from the bird. Feeling its duty was done, the beast gave another caw before he swooped back up into the sky once more, headed in the direction of the Hokage Tower.

Ah, so this must be from Naruto...

Unrolling the paper with slight apprehension, Sasuke snorted in amusement at the horrible, messy handwriting that greeted his eyes.

Uchiha Sasuke,

After deliberation with the counsel you have been deemed worthy to return to Konohagakure. Report to the Hokage Tower at sunset to receive your terms and conditions.

Hachidaime,
Hokage,
Uzumaki Naruto

Crumpling up the paper and tossing it in the garbage bin, Sasuke picked up his tea from the table and dumped it in the sink. Thoughts of his kiss with Naruto ran through his head and his body grew even hotter in the afternoon heat; he shook his head and cleaned his cup and put it back in its rightful place before glancing at the horizon. Another hour until sunset. He could either sit at home and twiddle his thumbs, or he could walk around the village.

Neither seemed all that appealing, so he made his way to the Hokage Mountain, where in their youth Naruto frequented often. The Uchiha wondered if Naruto still staked this place out whenever he was having issues, and at that thought he felt a bit sad. Naruto may have achieved his biggest goal, and he had obviously changed since they had seen each other last. But that infinite loneliness and sadness that he tried so hard to cover up in his eyes was more than obvious to Sasuke, who, at one point in time, knew Naruto the best.

As the Uchiha sat down on the mossy rock, he folded his legs and sat criss-cross and rested his elbows on his thighs. He stayed like this for a few moments, meditating in peace, until he felt the unmasked chakra of his former sensei approaching.

Without opening his eyes, Sasuke spoke. "Don't you have a grave to visit, or something?"

"A simple 'hello' would have sufficed, Sasuke-kun," Kakashi said, taking up residence next to Sasuke on the ground. "And for your information, said grave visit has already been taken care of."

Cracking open an eye to give his former sensei a sidelong glance, Sasuke gave a 'hn' in response before he returned to trying to meditate. Keyword: trying.

"You sure do know how to attract attention, Sasuke-kun," the grey-haired Jounin said, and Sasuke saw a flash of orange before the man started talking again. "Can't you ever make a subtle entry?"

"Not when I have a specific goal in mind, no."

"Not a very good ninja, then, causing such an uproar."

He heard the teasing in Kakashi's voice and he grunted in response, moving his hands behind him to stare up at the clouds. He'd given up on trying to ignore the man.

"What do you want?" the raven finally asked, clapping his hands together to get rid of the dirt that accumulated on his pale palms. One elbow rested on his knee and the other hand started to pick idly at the innocent blades of grass that were in front of him.

"I want to know what you want. Though I think I may have already figured that out."

Sasuke glanced over to see Kakashi's exposed eye in the shape of a crescent, meaning he was smiling underneath that damned mask. Or maybe it didn't; Kakashi seemed like the type of person to fake his emotions, and use a proverbial mask alongside his actual one that covered up his features.

"You've thrown our young Hokage for a loop, you know," Kakashi said nonchalantly as he flipped the page in his dirty book. When Sasuke stayed quiet, he continued. "He didn't sleep at all last night; he was agonizing over all of the information we had on you, wondering why you came back."

"I thought it was obvious," Sasuke grit out, starting to become annoyed by his former teacher's way of dancing around his actual point.

"Is it?" Kakashi countered, his visible eye drawing towards the petulant young man at his side.

Biting his bottom lip in agitation, Sasuke harrumphed and folded his arms over his chest. He idly noticed that his ass was in a patch of dirt, and his white pants were probably getting stained brown, but at the moment he didn't care. Why wouldn't Naruto know what he wanted? It was obvious with the kiss. Sasuke had come back because of Naruto, and Naruto only. Too long he'd gone without his best friend, his rival, and he was too proud to admit that he missed the blond bombshell. But here Kakashi was trying to drag it out of him, and the Uchiha was not taking to kindly to it. Picking at a few more innocent blades of grass, Sasuke huffed and stood up, patting his butt to get the dust off of it. A satisfying cloud puffed as he pat the material, and he twisted to glance down. Huh, not bad, there were no stains.

Coal eyes glanced towards the West, where the sun was starting to sink into the horizon. His eyes trailed lower and scanned the village; the houses, the markets, the buildings, the people milling about. They were all better off without him, and Sasuke knew that. But Naruto wasn't. Sasuke also knew that. He wasn't a genius for no reason, and once word had reached him that Naruto had achieved Hokage status, the raven had immediately set out to return to Konoha. He hadn't even questioned it. He knew that with little to no conviction Naruto would accept him back into the village - on terms, of course - because of their history. Because Naruto had been the only one that truly, deeply cared when Sasuke had left the village all those years ago. Sure, some of his peers had been shocked and confused, even angry, but none of them actually missed him. Not even Sakura, though she still put on the facade to save face.

Naruto was pure, raw, unadulterated emotion. Sasuke thrived on it. Why, he wasn't sure. Perhaps it was because Naruto was passionate, and Sasuke seemed dispassionate at best. Inside, though, emotions were always spiraling, always pushing rational thought out of his head. Especially when it came to Naruto; Naruto Naruto Naruto.

Clenching his fists at his sides, he shoved his hands in his pockets to prevent him from fiddling with something. Not many knew it, but Sasuke was so stoic because he didn't want to be seen fidgeting. Twiddling his fingers, picking at lint; the urge to just do something with his hands when not fighting was too strong, so he stuffed them away either in his pockets or folded his arms across his chest.

"You should have just told him," Kakashi commented, flipping another page of the book. Sasuke wondered idly if the man was even reading the damn thing.

"I showed him; he's the type to go to action first, ask questions later." It was true. In a fight he would pummel someone and then interrogate them. Or perhaps during. Sasuke chose a practical approach to convey his emotions to the blond, figuring it would be the best way.

"Naruto has changed, Sasuke." The silver-haired man stood up and put his book in his pouch, folding his arms loosely over his chest. "Even you can see that."

Sasuke's right eyebrow twitched. Of course he had noticed Naruto changed, but the immature kid from their youth was still very much present. Did Kakashi think he didn't know how to handle the one person he knew better than himself?

"You have wounded him greatly, Sasuke," Kakashi admonished, his words stinging Sasuke in the gut. "He thought you left because of him. Because he didn't pose a good enough challenge, because you were bored with him, because you didn't like him anymore." The Uchiha's gaze lowered to the ground. "He has been taking all of the guilt since you left."

"Tch." Sasuke scoffed and turned his nose up, trying to pretend that he didn't feel extremely... heart broken, for the dobe. "His fault for letting his imagination run wild." He didn't mean that. Turning swiftly on his heel, he leapt away to scale down the faces of the former Hokage's, getting away from Kakashi before his former sensei could respond.

Kakashi let out a sigh and rubbed the back of his head.

"I guess some things don't change."

Outside of the Hokage's main office, Nara Shikamaru was stationed. From around the corner Sasuke suppressed his chakra, not wanting to stumble across the lazy genius before he knew how the man would react. He still looked the same; his ponytail wasn't quite as spiky but was still sticking out crazily, and he had another set of earrings in his lobes. He was wearing Jounin attire, and looking rather bored at his post leaned up against the wall next to the door. His eyes were staring out of the window, most likely watching the clouds go by. Sasuke snorted; still a cloud-gazer.

Letting out a deep breath, he squared his shoulders the best he could and flared his chakra minimally. He felt Shikamaru tense, his own chakra flaring to try and reach out to coax Sasuke's, to see where he was. Turning around the corner, the Uchiha had his hands in his pockets and was walking casually, the usual bored expression on his features. Shikamaru's eyes leveled with his own, recognition and slight surprise flickering in them, before he scowled and grumbled.

"How troublesome," he commented, pushing away from the wall as Sasuke neared. He lifted a hand to the Uchiha, "One sec", and then opened the door to go into the office. He was in there for two seconds before he came out and held the door open, gesturing for the raven to step inside.

As Sasuke passed Shikamaru, the Nara opened his mouth to say something, and Sasuke paused, curious. He glanced over, charcoal meeting doe, and he was surprised to see the half-smile on the others' features.

"Welcome back."

Those two words held a glimmer of hope for Sasuke - maybe the village would forgive his trespasses and allow him back after all of the horrible things he'd done. At least, his peers. He could care less about the people he didn't even know. He'd donate money to charities to help fund the restoration, but other than that, he would steer clear of strangers. Sasuke gave a nod to Shikamaru, who knew that the specific nod was in lieu of a smile. The Uchiha stepped in to the office and the doors closed behind him, and he approached the desk where Naruto was sitting.

The blond was hunkered over, scanning a scroll as he chewed on the end of a paint brush. The white coat was hanging on the back of his chair and there was a cup of half-eaten ramen by his elbow, and mentally Sasuke made a note to take the usuratonkachi out to a real meal. Naruto glanced up, sapphire hues meeting coal, and he seemed to hesitate before he put the brush in its ink holder, using his now free hand to wave Sasuke over. The Uchiha moved closer, hands still in his pockets; they'd be folded across his chest if he didn't want to convey rudeness. Naruto or not, the dobe was still Hokage and Sasuke needed to show some respect.

"I have all of the terms and conditions written on this scroll," the blond said, turning the scroll around and sliding it towards Sasuke, who merely raised a brow at it.

He didn't care what it said, as long as the resulting line was "... therefore allowing Uchiha Sasuke to abide in the community of Konohagakure".

"Sasuke, read it," Naruto urged softly, sounding slightly worn out.

Clucking his tongue behind his teeth, Sasuke took another step forward, resting his hands on the desk as he leaned over to start reading the scroll.

Order of the return of Uchiha Sasuke, rogue ninja.
Offense: Abandonment, mutiny, war mongering, murder.
Status: Cleared.
Grounds: ANBU squadron leader, Academy Assistant Teacher (to Umino Iruka), probationary period of two years.

The raven wanted to pitch a fit. While of course he was fine with an ANBU position (he assumed he was getting that position so Naruto could have experienced and skilled ninja keep tabs on him without shirking their official duties), it was the Academy that he had an issue with. Sasuke and kids just did not mix. But, alas, he should be thankful that Naruto was even considering letting him back into the village.

Suppressing a grunt, he continued to read.

Probationary Officer: Uzumaki Naruto
Secondary Probationary Officer: Hatake Kakashi

Of course,
Sasuke thought. The man has nothing else to do. Though really, he knew it was because in case Sasuke got out of hand, Kakashi could probably easily detain him.

Recommendations of status approval:
Haruno Sakura
Nara Shikamaru
Akimichi Chouji
Abruame Shino
Yamanaka Ino
Inuzuka Kiba
Hyuuga Hinata
Hyuuga Neji
Rock Lee
TenTen
Hatake Kakashi
Umino Iruka

The signatures of all of his peers, even his teachers, were scrawled along the bottom of the parchment. They had all been notified of his presence, and even agreed to let him back in the village? He was starting to realize he underestimated the power of friendship, and he felt his heart swell upon seeing all of the individual hand writings. Of course, his face stayed neutral, but he noticed the blank spot at the bottom, reserved for the Hokage. Raising his eyes to Naruto, he saw the other watching him, and this time a slight blush dusted his cheeks. Naruto was staring at him intently, trying to gauge his reaction, no doubt. Sasuke idly wondered what kind of conclusion Naruto was coming to.

"This isn't valid unless I sign this," the blond said, tapping the bottom of the scroll where his signature was absent. "It doesn't matter that all of these people have personally said that they not only would accept, but want you in this village; until I am convinced that I should let you stay, I won't sign it."

Ah, so Naruto was playing a game, was he? Sasuke was good at games and Naruto knew that. They were best at playing each other. Naruto's words were a silent demand that Sasuke apologize outright for what he had done, and give the promise that he would mend everything that he had wronged.

But Uchiha's never went down without a fight.

"You don't trust me?" Sasuke asked, turning the tables a bit. He was insinuating that Naruto hadn't signed yet because he didn't trust Sasuke to fulfill his duties and behave in the village.

Naruto's lip twitched downward and his eyes narrowed slightly, "Teme, you know I trust you."

"So don't act like you're going to hold this over my head in order to get me to behave." Now Sasuke folded his arms over his chest, narrowing his own gaze as he stood back.

The blond licked his lips and Sasuke's eyes were drawn to that action, his mind flashing back to the previous day's kiss. Oh, how sweet it had been, to render Naruto helpless and take advantage of him. He was addicted to the other man; his scent, his power, and now his taste. He wanted to drink it all in, get drunk off of it.

His eyes flickered back up to Naruto's, and he knew he'd been caught staring. Naruto's tan fingers touched on the scroll and turned it to face him once again, his other hand moving towards the calligraphy brush as he pulled it out of the ink jar. He took his time in sliding the excess ink off of the brush on the sides of the jar, and as his fingers fondled the polished handle, Sasuke glanced away. He couldn't watch that for too long. He looked back just in time to see the brush scrawling over the parchment, Naruto's expression akin to someone making a deal with the Devil and signing their life away.

Did Naruto not want Sasuke back...?

That thought flashed through the Uchiha's mind for the first time. What if Naruto was doing this out of the goodness of his heart, not because he wanted the raven back? He was the type to do just that, Sasuke thought with a mental scoff. A tingle of fear trickled down the pale man's spine and settled in his stomach, a sinking feeling new and unfamiliar. As Naruto put the brush back in the ink jar, Sasuke glanced down at the scroll, taking in all of the signatures.

Had he beaten out Naruto due to his popularity, once again?

"Naruto..."

The use of his first name made the blond glance up, his hands pausing in waving the fan over the document to get the ink to dry faster. Oceanic orbs blinked, slightly confused at the light hesitance in Sasuke's voice. Surely it sounded out of place.

"Do you want me back?" Better off to ask it and find out the answer before he agonized over it for days on end. Sasuke's body was tense and his fingers were clenching at his short sleeves, pulling the material taut over his biceps.

Naruto seemed to catch the movement, his eyes zeroing in on the slight fidgeting. He glanced down at the document, before he stood and rested strong hands on the surface of the desk, leaning forward a bit and cocking his head.

"Do you want me to want you back?"

Obviously the years past has made Naruto's word savvy accelerate; he was playful yet strategizing all at once. Sasuke wondered if he had picked up his word play from Kakashi, but brushed off that thought as he contemplated Naruto's question.

"Yes."

The abrupt answer shocked them both - Sasuke was going to toil around a bit longer, make Naruto squirm and beg for him to return; but that plan was shot to hell. Naruto blinked, his expression vulnerable as he openly regarded the Uchiha. Sasuke felt like wriggling under his gaze but resolutely stood still, fingers still clenching at his shirt. They stared at each other for about thirty seconds, before Naruto's face split in a grin and he started laughing, throwing his head back and letting the melodious sound fill the room.

Despite the beauty of the laughter, Sasuke felt a twinge of annoyance. Why the hell was the idiot laughing during such a serious matter? His left eyebrow twitched as he watched the blond wiped tears from his eyes, his laughter turning into soft chuckles as he sat back down in his chair, swiveling distractedly.

"That was too easy, Sasuke," Naruto commented between breaths, before he laced his fingers and folded them on his stomach.

Raising a brow, Sasuke's face stayed stoic.

Oh, how annoyed he was, right now.

"You should have seen the look on your face, like I beat your puppy with a baseball bat!"

Another eyebrow twitch.

"Did you really think I was just going to kick you out after letting you stay here for twenty-four hours?"

A tap of the foot.

"Sasuke..." Naruto's voice calmed and softened, and the Uchiha finally stopped glaring to register the expression on the dobe's face. "Of course I want you back. I wouldn't have come after you, if I didn't."

Of course, Naruto was right. He wouldn't have assembled a team and sought out the Uchiha if he didn't want the other to return to them someday.

Naruto swiveled in a circle in the chair once, before he stood and strode over to Sasuke, the raven glancing up ever so slightly at the blond. Naruto's smile was bright, and he raised a hand to clap it on Sasuke's shoulder, the Uchiha's knees buckling a bit with the force.

"Welcome home, Sasuke."

Sasuke smiled lightly, a small upturn of the lips, as his hand clapped Naruto on the shoulder as well, the two of them sealing the deal with their small act of camaraderie.

Welcome home.

xoxoxoxoxoxoxox

Alone in the Uchiha Manor, Sasuke was once again in the kitchen, sitting at the table as he laid out all of his weapons on a towel and started to clean them all. It had been a week since he'd been accepted back into the village, and tomorrow he would start his first day helping out at the Academy. In another week he was going to tag along on A and S-ranked missions before he got thrown into leading his own squad. As the smell of polish filled the room he made a face, getting up and opening the window above the sink. It was bright and early in the morning, birds chirping happily, marking it as a good day. Sasuke returned to the table and picked up a kunai, turning it over in his hands fondly as he smiled softly to himself.

This was the kunai that Naruto had stabbed himself in the hand with, creating and marking his nindo. He wasn't sure how it came to be in his possession - oftentimes Naruto and he got their weapons mixed up - but he was glad that this particular kunai had made its way into his pouch. On that day Naruto vowed to protect his friends with all he had - Sasuke had been his best friend. The blood that stained the kunai marked Naruto's dedication not only to everyone, but to Sasuke as well, and the Uchiha cherished that. He wasn't one to get attached to material possessions, but this was one thing that he wouldn't be tossing away so easily. After he cleaned it he put it back in his weapon cabinet, making sure that it didn't get mixed up with all of the other devices. He didn't want to use it.

A knock resounded throughout the mansion, and Sasuke glanced up from his cleaning with a look of mild curiosity pointed in the direction of the front of the house. Setting the polish down he made his way to the front of the house, feeling the faint tickle of Naruto's chakra seeping through the air. He opened the door and Naruto smiled brightly at him, clad in loose black pants slung low on his hips, and a fishnet t-shirt. Honestly, it left nothing to the imagination - his tan, chiseled body was visible under the shirt, his narrow hips peeking out and begging to be kissed.

Clearing his throat, Sasuke leaned against the door frame and gave the dobe a rather bored look.

"Hey, Sasuke!" Naruto greeted, rather unnecessarily. Sasuke rolled his eyes, and the blond held up a bag that had a delicious aura emanating from it. "I brought breakfast~"

It was then that Sasuke noticed his stomach was grumbling uncomfortably, him having only a bagel and some tea for breakfast. That wouldn't do, at all. He was thankful Naruto decided to stop by, and as he moved out of the way for the blond to amble into his house, he spoke up.

"You're up early."

Naruto shrugged, "Got used to it, I'm always up with the sun nowadays." He smiled, and briefly Sasuke wondered if the sun stayed hidden until Naruto arose, if the bright blond was the reason for all of the sunny weather in Konoha.

They moved into the kitchen and Naruto placed the bags on the counter as Sasuke cleaned up his weapons and the polish. Naruto made a face and waved a hand in front of his nose, coughing slightly.

"Jeez, don't you do that outside?" He asked as Sasuke got a wash cloth and wrung it out, swiping it over the table to gather any excess polish that may have spilled.

Sasuke gave Naruto a look that said he didn't venture outside unless necessary, and Naruto rolled his eyes in turn.

"Figures you stay holed up in here. That's not healthy, you know, you need to get out! Maybe you can spar with me today?" There was a hopeful lilt at the end of that sentence, as Naruto started to set out the breakfast goods on the table. Waffles, eggs and sausage along with a delicious looking hashbrown-vegetable concoction stared back at Sasuke, and he retrieved two plates and some silverware, setting the table.

"Sure." He grabbed some glasses and poured water out of a filtered pitcher into them, before sitting down at the table across from Naruto.

"Itadakimasu!" Naruto said, clapping his hands and breaking his chopsticks as he dug in. It was a wonder that he hadn't brought ramen over for breakfast; though he seemed to thoroughly enjoy this healthier option.

As they tucked in to their food, Sasuke couldn't help but let his mind wander and examine the situation all at once. Why did Naruto bring him breakfast? Sasuke was being a recluse but that was normal, he never wandered into the village unless necessary. This situation, them eating together early in the morning, Naruto rambling about his perverted sensei, or what Iruka bought him for lunch yesterday (ramen), or how proud he was of Konohamaru - it was... so domestic. Warm.

Sasuke hadn't felt that since before his family died, when they used to all dine as a unit and talk about their days. Smiles. Laughter. His heart swelled and he glanced down at his hash browns, poking at them before eating them. The food was delicious, and he told Naruto such.

"Thanks, I wasn't sure what you'd like so I made a bit of everything," the blond said, rubbing the back of his head in a slightly sheepish manner. "I know you don't like sweets... oh, and I put diced tomatoes in the hash browns, too!"

The Uchiha blinked as he reviewed the words in that sentence. There was a lot of "I", instead of "they", or even "restaurant". Indicating...

"You cooked this?" Sasuke stared at Naruto, who tilted his head and gave a peace sign.

"I learned a few things from Sakura-chan while you were gone."

Glancing down at his food, Sasuke blinked a few more times, trying to comprehend the fact that not only had Naruto brought him breakfast early in the morning, he had cooked said breakfast. Himself. Without burning a house down or creating inedible food.

Opting to stay silent, he continued to eat his food until his plate was empty, Naruto offering seconds. Again he cleared his plate and he sat back, fiddling with his napkin before picking it up and wiping his mouth, his eyes drawn to Naruto. The blond offered familiarity to him, something that Sasuke craved. Friendship. Companionship. It didn't help that his feelings had developed intensely - mainly, in his absence he had discovered how much he missed the blond, and how much it pained him to not be around him. He wouldn't dare utter the word 'love', but it was dancing on the tip of his tongue, ready to leap out if given the opportune moment.

"Ahhh, delicious!" Naruto declared, sitting back in his seat, rubbing his stomach contently. Sasuke glanced down at the tan skin; his stomach wasn't even bulging, even though the expression on his face said quite otherwise. Naruto was so fit, and Sasuke was still... well, slender, yet defined. He didn't have chiseled abs, he couldn't consciously move his pectoral muscles, and he most certainly couldn't pop open a beer with his teeth. (not that he wanted to do that) Naruto had grown up, he had turned into a man, and Sasuke was still 'pretty'. It was slightly annoying.

He let out a slight huff, before he stood up and started to gather the plates, intent on washing them. Naruto stood as well and sidled over to the sink as Sasuke filled up the basin with warm soapy water, the blond smiling goofily.

"Want me to dry?" He asked, picking up a hand towel that was hanging on the oven, his blue eyes glittering.

Sasuke shrugged as he washed a plate, and wordlessly rinsed it off and handed it over to the blond, who looked more than happy to towel it off and put it in the dish rack on the counter. Yes, domestic was definitely the right word. As it were, if he thought about it, it was like Naruto was the macho, supportive husband, and he... well, he was obviously the wife, feminine and ready to pick up house hold chores. It wasn't his fault. When he was little he used to want to take care of Itachi like his mother did, and he picked up the womanly habits. Not that everyone needed to know that.

Naruto fell into an easy chatter about a D-rank mission that he'd accompanied Konohamaru on, for sake of seeing how the boy was improving. He talked about the young kid like he was a sort of little brother, and Sasuke felt a bit happy for Naruto that he found a bit of solstice, a bit of a family in Iruka and Konohamaru. Naruto deserved it.

The Uchiha also washed the tupperware that Naruto had brought the food in, and he wiped off the table once more before he drained the sink and grabbed a spare towel to wipe his hands dry. Naruto hung his towel back on the oven and then glanced around, before his gaze fell on Sasuke. Sasuke gazed back, still running the towel over his hands and forearms, making sure to collect all of the moisture.

"Sasuke, I..." Naruto licked his lips. Damn, he needed to stop doing that, Sasuke couldn't help but wish that the blond's tongue was otherwise occupied. "I wanted to ask you about when you first came back."

Sasuke raised a brow; he knew Naruto was asking about the kiss, but he decided to play dumb as he hung the towel on the handle of the refrigerator door. "I hadn't washed any of my clothes, that kimono was the only wearable piece of clothing I had."

Naruto glared and shoved Sasuke on the shoulder lightly, "You know that's not what I'm talking about!"

"It's not?" Sasuke tilted his head and tapped his chin with a pale, slender finger. "Then I don't know what you mean."

"I mean the kiss!"

Ah, didn't take long for Naruto to lose his cool. Sasuke smirked and shrugged, leaning back against the counter, folding his arms loosely over his chest. His fingers were getting antsy.

"What about the kiss?" The Uchiha feigned innocence.

"I-- it..." Naruto's tanned cheeks flushed, the whisker marks standing out a bit more against the blush. "Why did you do it?!"

"Did you not want it?"

The question was an echo of 'do you not want me back', obviously. And both of them knew the answer; but neither of them relented.

"Don't answer my question with another question!" Naruto said, clenching his fists at his sides, the blush creeping up his neck to his ears, which were barely visible due to the shagginess of his blond locks.

"Why not?" Now Sasuke was just pushing buttons, and he was rewarded with the air being knocked out of him as he was slammed against the fridge, Naruto's hands in the collar of his black long-sleeved turtleneck. He licked his lips and panted, his eyes hooding slightly and darkening into an even blacker abyss. "If you didn't want it, you should have stopped me."

"Teme," Naruto spat, nearly lifting Sasuke off of the floor with the force of his grip. "I want to know why you did it!"

"Because I wanted to," Sasuke shrugged, and his response was a shake that knocked his head back into the fridge. His skull throbbed idly - it wasn't that hard of a hit - and he reached up to let his pale fingers encircle Naruto's tanned wrists. "You're worked up. Did you like it?"

Naruto was silent, and from this close Sasuke could see flecks of gold in the sapphire ocean, close to the pupils. Like beams of sun dancing on the water's surface. The Uchiha was reminded of their first kiss, their accidental kiss; their first kiss with anyone, ever. Both had instantly reacted with gagging and choking, but he knew it lingered in the back of both of their minds, planting a seed of curiosity that was growing and growing... and was just now starting to bloom.

"Do you want me to do it again?" Sasuke breathed, and Naruto didn't even speak before he crushed their lips together.

It was a clumsy kiss; was Sasuke the only person Naruto had kissed? He knew that the blond and Hinata had dated, and even Sakura had tried her hand at dating the dobe, but hadn't he kissed them? At all? Sasuke's mind answered with 'no', because there was a slight hesitance behind the kiss, as if asking for guidance. If Sasuke had to be honest, he hadn't kissed anyone else, either. But he felt like he might have a more natural knack to it, and so he parted his lips and let his tongue trace along Naruto's lips. Tan hands released his shirt and he slid back down onto his feet, the hands now moving to his hips, unsure of where else to go. Sasuke reached up and tangled one hand in sunshine locks, the other going underneath Naruto's armpit to wind around his back and pull him closer.

Their bodies melded, and Sasuke let out a soft moan as Naruto caught on to the kiss and started tangling his tongue with its counterpart. Naruto was a quick learner when it came to ninjutsus, and Sasuke felt perverted to know that the eagerness and drive to learn something also existed in a more intimate setting. He shifted his hips, brushing against Naruto's hip, and the blond hissed in pleasure as he pulled away and started nipping down Sasuke's jaw, reaching his ear and nibbling lightly. A very quick learner. Sasuke panted and let out a noise that he would never admit being capable of making, Naruto's hands pulling him closer to the muscled body.

Hands roamed; Sasuke bunched up Naruto's barely-there shirt under the armpits and dipped his head to nip at the tan chest, before his mouth found a dusky nipple. His mind was clouded with lust, wanting anything and everything that the blond was going to give. He was going to be greedy, he was going to be slutty, and he was going to enjoy this - even though he had never done it before.

"Bedroom," Naruto growled, pulling Sasuke out of his reverie as he stumbled backwards and grabbed Naruto's hand, pulling him down the hallway. He slid open the door to his room and they fell onto his bed without preemptive, Naruto hovering over Sasuke as he ripped off his shirt and tossed it aside.

Sasuke's hands instantly touched the now touchable flesh, palms skimming over the hard planes and taut muscles. Naruto started tugging on his shirt and the raven lifted himself a bit to allow the blond to pull it off and toss it aside as well, before their lips crashed together again and their bare chests rubbed together. Sasuke watched as his pale fingers traced Naruto's tan body, the contrast stark and all the more appealing. Pulling away, Naruto started to kiss his way down Sasuke's chest, obviously just exploring and doing whatever his body told him to do. Sasuke's body was screaming for them to both be naked and screwing, but he couldn't bring himself to voice it. He didn't want to scare Naruto away.

Letting out a soft exhale as Naruto's tongue swirled around his belly button, Sasuke's fingers tangled in sunny locks and brought them up for another kiss. Lips didn't stay connected for too long before Naruto kissed along his jaw, his neck, and then paused over the dormant cursed seal. His tongue laved the tattoo-like mark, and Sasuke shuddered as a kiss was pressed to it. As if to soothe the pain it had previously caused. The Uchiha felt his eyes dampen a bit, but he instead scraped his blunt nails down Naruto's strong back, reveling in the shudder and the moan that he elicited. Naruto drew away from the seal and started to shimmy Sasuke's pants down, the raven lifting his hips to assist. Naruto tossed them aside and wriggled out of his own pants, and then laid his body over Sasuke's like some sort of sexy, tan, muscly blanket.

"Fuck, dobe, do something," Sasuke said, after a few moments of the blond just holding him.

Naruto chuckled and pulled away, mischief sparkling in his eyes as he reached between their bodies to tug on Sasuke's cock. His hands were big and hot and slightly awkward at pleasuring someone else, but it was still the most intense feeling Sasuke had ever had wrapped around his dick thus far. Stroking a few times, Naruto glanced down and licked his lips, and Sasuke groaned.

Blue eyes glanced up, before Naruto lowered his head and gave the head an experimental lick. Sasuke arched his back and fisted his hands in the blond locks instantly, his body shuddering and breath hitching from the delicious heat that was starting to engulf his erection as Naruto's lips slid down his shaft.

It was too much too soon, though, and Sasuke felt the familiar coil of heat in his belly. He brought Naruto's mouth away, the blond looking slightly confused, and then pressed their lips together before breathing out against the others' mouth.

"I need you inside, Naruto..." Sasuke said, his voice barely above a whisper and darkened with his lust.

Naruto swallowed visibly, looking decidedly nervous. Sasuke didn't want the mood to be ruined because Naruto was clueless about gay sex (or maybe even sex in general), so he stuck his own fingers in his mouth and salivated on them generously before lowering them between his parted legs. His finger teased lightly at his entrance before pushing in, the sensation not bad, more strange than anything. Naruto watched with wide eyes as his hand moved to his erection, pumping himself as he watched Sasuke arch his back and push the digit in all the way. The Uchiha panted heavily, closing his eyes as he carefully worked in another finger. He knew he needed to be stretched, but to what extent, he didn't know. He worked in three fingers, jarring sensations making his legs part even further and his body convulse in a mixture of pleasure and pain, and he heard Naruto spit and groan. He opened his charcoal eyes to see the blond slathering his own erection with spit, and his breathing increased.

"Now, Naruto..." Sasuke said, removing his fingers and grasping at Naruto's shoulders, trying to convey his demand in a voice that wasn't so... girly sounding.

Naruto licked his lips, and this time, Sasuke claimed that sinful mouth and devoured it, tensing only slightly when he felt the head of the blond's erection pressing against his entrance. He rolled his hips to encourage the other, and when Naruto started to push himself into the Uchiha's body, it was all Sasuke could do to keep from scrunching his face up in pain. He kept his expression as neutral as possible - not that Naruto would notice any looks of pain, as he was currently absorbed in watching his cock disappear into Sasuke's entrance. After a few agonizing moments he was seated fully, and then he spared a glance towards Sasuke, reaching up to card his fingers through inky black locks affectionately.

"Does it hurt?" Naruto asked, his voice strained a bit as his chest heaved with his breaths. He was resisting, Sasuke saw that, and appreciated it.

"A little," Sasuke admitted, but wrapped his arms around Naruto's shoulders and brought him down to let their foreheads rest together. "Move."

Naruto didn't need to be told twice, and he pulled out just a fraction before slipping back in. They both hissed - one in pleasure, one in slight pain - and Naruto started to pick up a speed. Sasuke squirmed a bit, knowing that there was something he needed to do, a way he needed to move -- oh God.

Sasuke saw stars as he shifted in a way that made Naruto hit something amazing inside of him, causing him to pant and let out whimpers of pleasure. Naruto was spurred on by the noises and the clenching of the Uchiha's inner muscles, pulling out a bit farther with each thrust and slamming back into him. Pretty soon the tempo was extreme, Naruto lifting one of Sasuke's legs up into the air and holding the other to the side, opening the sleight ninja up completely to him. Sasuke's hands grabbed at the blankets, the pillows, Naruto, anything he could find purchase on, questing to ground himself as his body started to lose control. His erection bounced against his stomach with every thrust, and Naruto's hand greeted it to start fisting it in counter time to his thrusts.

Everything happened so fast. Sasuke was soaring high in the clouds and he felt his resolve slipping with Naruto hitting that special spot and touching him at the same time. His body spasmed and contracted and Naruto groaned at the sensation, and Sasuke's hands gripped Naruto's bicep as he felt the heat blossoming, his toes curling and his limbs going numb from all of the blood that was flooding through his erection.

With an elegant arch of his back he came, his semen spurting onto his chest and Naruto's hand, causing a chain reaction as Naruto sped his thrusting and then stilled, a warm feeling erupting in Sasuke's backside. If this were anything else, he'd be disgusted at that feeling, but right now he only collapsed, jelly-limbed as Naruto pulled out of him and laid next to him. A comfortable silence stretched as they basked in the afterglow, and then it all came crashing down on Sasuke all at once.

He had just had sex with Naruto. Hokage. Hachidaime. One-time rival, long-time friend. What did this mean? Sasuke wasn't about love poems or sappy words or even flowers, but he wanted to convey to the blond just how much he was valued. Rolling over onto his side to face the blue-eyed beauty, Sasuke let a small smile break his features as he reached out and gently cupped Naruto's whiskered cheek.

Naruto gazed sleepily back at him and smiled, raising his hand to rest over Naruto's, his thumb stroking the pale skin gently.

"I know, Sasuke," Naruto said, and Sasuke blinked. "Give it time."

Ah, so he hadn't needed to explain or say anything. Then again, did he ever really need to? The blond seemed to be able to read him so easily, finish his thoughts and sentences. Sasuke closed his eyes and scooted closer to Naruto, who enveloped him in strong arms and kissed the top of the raven head.

"Welcome home, Sasuke." Naruto said, his chest rumbling beneath Sasuke's cheek, making the raven feel oh-so-warm. "Don't ever leave, again."

Sasuke smiled against the tan chest, and then snorted.

"Dobe, I'm stuck here now."

"I knew you'd come back to me~"

Sasuke shook his head and hit Naruto's chest lightly.

"Don't get too big headed about it, moron."

He could practically feel Naruto's grin lighting up the whole room.

"You didn't read the fine-print, it said: 'Uchiha must adhere to Uzumaki's sexual prowess and become victim to his charm on a daily basis'." The blond tsked mockingly. "Maybe you shoulda been wearing your bi-focals when you read the document."

Sasuke growled, "If you think you're getting this every day, think again idiot." Annoyance was curling in the pit of his stomach, and he briefly wondered if he should have given into his emotions and came back.

With the kiss on top of his head and the stroking of his spine with firm, gentle hands, Sasuke let out an exasperated sigh.

This was the wreckoning that he needed to undo. The heart he needed to mend. The city he needed to re-build.

No matter what, Konohagakure would always be home to the Uchiha.

And with that, came the ever-present underlying affection for the blasted usuratonkachi.

The silence settled over them like a comfortable blanket, before Naruto spoke up.

"... I'm so telling Sakura about this."

Thwack!
