“Sorry Sasuke but it’s over." The male’s fists clenched as his announcement still did not get a reaction from the other male, even though he had been saying the same thing for the last five minutes."Fuck you Uchiha you don’t even care do you?" The male yelled, getting louder when he didn’t get a response, "who wants to date a fucking mute anyway?" The white-haired male turned and storming off, went in the opposite direction, leaving behind the still mute raven.

It had been ten years since he had last spoken, and he was not about to change that for some idiot that didn’t even like him. It didn’t matter anyways; the only reason why they had even dated in the first place was for the social status in the school.

This school was a prestigious school that went from grade school all the way through college and was known for having the outstanding students. The people that went to the school here, lived out their whole lives here and always became something outstanding in the world. It was proof of how outstanding they would become when they started in the school, and their popularity immediately began to rise. After all, these were the people they would be working with when they set out to live their lives in the world.

So that meant that everything about social statuses, and the groups. The groups were the most important part of all because the groups were made up of the people who deserved to be here and the people who were lucky enough to be here.

Sasuke was practically born and raised in this school. He hardly ever left the school and never went home. So it was no surprise that when his family died, he didn’t mourn them. After all, you can’t mourn someone you don’t really know. Instead of mourning them, he chose to go mute to honor their memories instead. It may have sounded weird, but that was what Sasuke had decided to do, and he’d stuck with it for more than eight years. Sasuke didn’t plan on changing that for anyone any time soon, besides, it wasn’t like he cared enough to talk and there was no one he really wanted to talk to anyways.

Sasuke didn’t want to talk for anyone. Not for the idiots he dated, who just wanted the privilege of saying they dated one of the last Uchiha, and he for sure wouldn’t change for any of the idiots that were just trying to prove themselves to the student body and gain their acceptance.

To be honest it was more like they were dating him than he was dating them. Sasuke never did anything to encourage the relationships. He never hugged, touched or kissed them. He didn’t even look at them either. Was it really wrong to not know what your boyfriend looked like? Probably. However, that was assuming that Sasuke cared in the first place.

Sasuke then decided to look back down at his homework again, going back to the work he had been doing before Kimimaro had interrupted him with all that bull shit.

.............

Naruto crumpled up the piece of paper before tossing it into the garbage. Dumped again…..Really, what was it with the people in this school? Now he really understood why everyone called this place the ‘Broken Heart’s Academy’. It seemed like every time Naruto liked someone and started dating them, he was dumped within days of their first date. It seemed to be always because of social status, and Naruto always said fuck social statuses because he didn’t care. Too bad he was the only one who thought that social statuses didn’t matter.

'Status.'

Naruto stood up, walking out of the empty classroom. Maybe he was going about this all the wrong way. Maybe it was time that Naruto started thinking about his status. After all, the only reason Naruto was even able to come to this school was because of the scholarship he had received for music. It didn’t help that the only reason he even got the so-called scholarship was because the school did not want to look like they were snobby, elitist bastards. So, in an attempt to make the school seem even a little less snobby, the school created a music program.

The school used the program to invite all the poor students that could not afford to pay the tuition, to come to the school. The school invited the best of the best of the poor students of course. After all, if they were going to waste time and money on a useless program, they wanted the best of the best, so said the current headmaster.

The whole idea pissed Naruto off. It pissed him off that the school thought they could talk badly about him or about the things that he loved. His father was a famous musician, and although it was mainly rock and roll, Naruto took pride in following in his father’s footsteps. Even though neither of them were still around to give him praise or encouragement, he still did the best that he could. It didn’t even matter that the school wouldn’t let him play the music that he liked because he still had his skateboard. Skateboarding was second only to music in his life. Music was number one in his life, and skateboarding was the next best thing in his life. Naruto had even cried and thrown a tantrum when his skateboard was taken away the first time by a teacher. He hadn’t stopped throwing his tantrum until the teacher had relented and given him back his skateboard just to make him stop crying and throwing a tantrum.

Naruto shook his head. He really should face the facts. He was not vindictive, and he definitely wasn’t a cold-hearted bastard. Naruto definitely didn’t belong here. Yet, Naruto still found himself to be here at the school, so technically, Naruto found himself to be a hypocrite. “Oh fuck, I am a hypocrite!” Naruto quickly shook his head. He needed to change the topic before he got anymore depressed with the situation.

Still, the students at the academy seemed to go through boyfriends and girlfriends like Naruto went through instant ramen. That, in Naruto’s opinion, was just sad. Was it really that hard for them to find someone they could like and stay with them for more than one week?

Naruto stopped in his tracks when he walked past the garden and saw the Uchiha sitting on one of the benches reading a book. Somewhere in the far distant background, there were already murmurs passing along the student body that the raven had been dumped too. Naruto couldn’t understand why people would want to dump Sasuke. Who in their right minds would dump Sasuke? If Naruto was dating Sasuke, he sure as hell wouldn’t have dumped Sasuke.

Wait, what the hell was he thinking? No one in this school seemed to have any real, or even good morals and values for that matter. Naruto liked the Uchiha, he wasn’t going to deny that, but he just could never seem to find the courage to get close to the other male. Naruto could just look into the male’s endless onyx black eyes and come out of that gaze, never knowing how the other male was feeling except for Naruto. Naruto could see the hurt in Sasuke’s eyes, could see the pain hidden so deep down in Sasuke’s soul, that Naruto felt that they were kindred spirits. It wasn’t just the loneliness and pain that Naruto could see, but he could see the other emotions in the male as well. Naruto wanted to know why Sasuke was in pain, but Naruto knew that the male refused to talk, and from what Naruto had heard, he had not spoken in a very, very long time. Even though he wanted to ask, Naruto didn’t. He didn’t know Sasuke well enough to ask why Sasuke hadn’t spoken in so long.

As Naruto thought about all this, his teeth worried at his newly pierced lowered lip. Naruto had pierced his lip with a safety pin one day as a sheer act of defiance against the academy, and was keeping the piercing in because he could. As Naruto’s teeth worried at his lower lip and the piercing, he decided that he would first try to be the other male’s friend. After he had managed to become the raven’s friend, he would get to know the raven better and maybe something more would develop between them.

Naruto grinned to himself as he turned and made a dash for his dorm room. He was a fucking genius! An awesome and fucking amazing genius!

...............

Sasuke gathered his books into his arms and made his way towards the math classroom to drop off the work for the teacher that he had done ahead of schedule. He didn’t know if it was a good thing or not, but every few days, the teachers would leave work out for them to do and then leave. The students would then take their lessons and go do whatever it is they wanted to do and turn the work in later. Really, what kind of school was this? Was the question that seemed to float around the poorer student’s heads, but, really, what would you expect from a school that catered to the rich.

The only ones that had to do their work every day were the ones whom had come to the school on scholarships, and even then, the scholarship students got way more work as well as they had to turn the work in every day as well.

Well, it was just another fucked up part of the society and the life lessons the poorer students had to learn. Not that Sasuke really cared or anything, it was just that at times, he had come to realize how fucked up the world, and the people in it really were.

As Naruto walked, he turned sharply, trying to avoid hitting the girls that only now decided to come out of the wood work, and instead, he found himself crashing into the one person he had been looking for. Naruto sat up, scratching the back of his head. He said apologetically “Sorry didn’t mean to.” Naruto quickly scrambled t his feet before holding out a hand to the slightly taller male to help him up. The only response he got was a glare before Sasuke pushed himself up, grabbing his books and desperately trying to ignore the blond. Said blond kicked up his skateboard and tucked it under his arm before helping the raven to pick up the books.

Naruto said with a whine “I said I was sorry!” Naruto handed the book to Sasuke, and just as Sasuke’s hand reached for the book, Naruto pulled his hand back and said with a grin “Hang out with me for a weekend? I’ll return the book back to you if you do.” Just as quickly as the grin had come to his face, it had just as quickly faded when the other male turned and walked away, choosing to leave the book in the blond male’s hands instead.

Naruto’s brows furrowed when his attempt at getting Sasuke to kind of be his friend failed. Sighing, Naruto set his skateboard down and hopped onto the board and followed after the quickly retreating raven. Naruto said as he caught up to Sasuke “Hey, come on! What else is there for you to do on your own? Wouldn’t it be nice to have a friend?” Sasuke didn’t answer. Naruto knew he wasn’t going to get an answer, but he was determined to keep going. Besides, Naruto’s only friends had already left two weeks early for their Christmas break, which meant that the lucky pricks had about a month of vacation.

Naruto said in annoyance “C’mon teme! Look, you’re gonna be here during the break right? Well I’m gonna be here too, so I thought that we could hang out together since the place will be pretty empty and it’s better than being alone for the holidays right?” This was true for Naruto, he hated being alone during the holidays, and even though he was normally alone, the loneliness just got worse during the holidays. On the other hand, the raven was the complete opposite of Naruto. He had been born alone, and ever since he came to the academy, he had been alone. Needless to say, the raven preferred his solitude.

Naruto stopped moving when the raven did and watched Sasuke fished out a notepad and pencil from his bag. Naruto watched Sasuke scribble something down, rip the paper from the notepad and shove it at the blond’s chest before grabbing his book.

Naruto looked down to read the note. He grinned and said “Hey, you got nice hand writing Sasuke.” Naruto mumbled before reading the note.

'Do you have to be so noisy dobe?'

It wasn’t a no to his question of spending the holidays together, and that made Naruto grin. He prompted “Ne, let’s hang out tonight after everyone goes to bed tonight Sasuke. It’ll be fun!”

Sasuke didn’t say anything as he put the book and notepad back in his bag before he began walking away.

“Meet me in the park at ten Sasuke!” Naruto called after the other male. Naruto grinned to himself, skating back to the music classroom, feeling like he was on cloud nine. Yeah, this school had a park, and Naruto loved the hand rails they had there, perfect for skateboarding. The school had even been kind enough to put up a couple of ‘No skateboarding’ signs just for him. Naruto had also learned that he was less likely to get in trouble if he skated at night after everyone had gone to bed.

Naruto was also hoping that Sasuke would show up so that Naruto could show off for Sasuke a bit.

………………..

When Sasuke finally made it to his dorm room, he set his books down on the bed before collapsing in his computer chair. He never would have thought that the ball of sunshine known as Naruto would have taken an interest in him. Naruto was known for being loud and hyper, everything Sasuke wasn’t, his complete opposite. Not that Sasuke noticed or anything. Well, maybe he did notice, and maybe he was sort of interested in the other male. The only reason Sasuke had even a remote interest in Naruto was when he heard Naruto play the piano for the teacher. Naruto had blown Sasuke’s mind away when he played the piano, but all too quickly, the male had stopped and had started to complain to the teacher about hating the piano and wanting to play the guitar instead.

Sasuke, in that moment found that he wanted to hear the blond play the guitar. Sasuke never had the nerve to approach the blond to ask because the blond was always surrounded by girls and he had never thought that Naruto would want to be his friend. Maybe that was just it, friends was all that Naruto wanted. Sasuke couldn’t help but feel his heart clench at the thought. Sasuke couldn’t deny the fact that he had often found himself full of thoughts of pinning the male beneath him and fucking the male’s brains out.

Often Sasuke would find those bright blue eyes staring at him. Sasuke always felt like an open book when Naruto’s eyes were fixed on him, although he was like an open book with torn pages, but a book only Naruto could read.

Even though today was the first time that either of them had even a semblance of a conversation, Sasuke felt moderately happy. Maybe it was because every time Sasuke was dating someone, he would rarely see the blond, and it just happened that this was the first time he had been single and had seen Naruto. Sasuke’s moderate happiness increased when the full realization of him and Naruto hanging out hit him.

Happiness was a weird and new feeling; something Sasuke could never remember feeling. But, happiness was okay, right? It was okay to let himself have just one friend right?

…………………………………………..

Naruto had just been about to grind on the rail with his skate board when he came face to face with Sasuke. Surprised, Naruto let out a yelp as his foot slipped and the board came out from under him, causing him to fall onto the railing.

“Shit! …..Ow! Ow! Ow!” Naruto cursed, jumping up and down holding his side while Sasuke looked on, looking faintly amused. Sasuke shook head in amusement and walked over to Naruto. He grabbed the male’s shirt and lifted it up. Fingers danced along the part that had hit the railing, checking to see if Naruto’s ribs were broken. Naruto froze all the while, watching Sasuke inspect and touch his side. After awhile, Sasuke dropped Naruto’s shirt and stepped back, turning around to grab his notepad and pencil from his bag.

‘You will have a bruise, but that’s all’

Naruto grinned sheepishly, scratching the back of his head. He said “Well, it’s not the worst I’ve ever gotten.” Still, Naruto was a bit embarrassed. He had been trying to show off for Sasuke and instead had fallen. So much for leaving a great impression on Sasuke, Naruto sighed and kicked his skateboard up. He said cheerfully “Ne, Sasuke wanna come to my room and watch a movie? Or do you just wanna go for a walk?”

Sasuke’s response was to smirk at Naruto before he started walking. Naruto quickly moved to catch up and walk besides Sasuke. Well, this wasn’t the start Naruto had envisioned, but it was an okay start, and Naruto was happy being able to just spend time with Sasuke.

……………………………

Naruto cheerfully whistled a light tune as he skateboarded down the halls. Today was the start of Christmas, and it had been a few weeks since he and Sasuke had become friends. Naruto honestly could not have been happier, well, if he and Sasuke became more than friends, then Naruto could be happier. However, the fear of losing Sasuke kept Naruto from saying anything. Naruto was sure that if he said something, he’d lose Sasuke. Although Naruto was sure that it would be different this time because with Sasuke, Naruto found himself never wanting to leave the raven’s side, and even though they weren’t in a relationship, being friends was still better than nothing right?

Naruto had come to the decision that whatever happened, happened and hopefully, things would turn out the way he wanted.

At the moment, Naruto was going to the campus store to see if he could buy some supplies before the stores closed down for Christmas break. After Naruto bought the supplies, he would wait back in his dorm room for Sasuke to come and see him. Yes, today was a great day for him, he’d have Sasuke all to himself for Christmas break, and the campus grounds were nearly empty for two weeks.

…………….

When Naruto arrived at the campus store, he grabbed as many snacks as he could, grabbing as many bags of chips and soda’s as he could before he paid and left, using his skateboard to get back to his dorm room, making it easier for him to carry the bags back. Naruto couldn’t wait to get back; he was excited for the two weeks that he’d get to have Sasuke all to himself while they hung out. Even though Sasuke never spoke, Naruto had come to understand what the male was thinking or what he wanted to say most of the time. Sometimes Naruto got it wrong, but it was a work in process.

Over time, Sasuke had opened up to Naruto, and had told Naruto why Sasuke had chosen to become mute. Sasuke told Naruto about how when his parents died, his older brother had taken over the family business and neglected Sasuke, caring only for the money and the family name.

Naruto understood that Sasuke was hurting, and Naruto had told Sasuke why he was at the school, in hopes of comforting the other male. The only reason Naruto was at the school was because his uncle didn’t want to deal with him. The uncle had spent every last bit of Naruto’s money after the parents died when Naruto was a kid. The uncle was supposed to have saved the money, and the possessions for when Naruto grew up, but that didn’t work out as the Uncle got greedy and had spent everything.

Naruto shook his head, trying to get rid of the memories. He was supposed to be comforting Sasuke, not worrying about his own past. Naruto had decided to make Sasuke happy, and he had to get ready for when Sasuke came over. He had already promised Sasuke a good time, and he wanted both of them to have that every time they hung out.

Every time they hung out, Sasuke would watch Naruto skate board, or Naruto would watch Sasuke read a book. Naruto was also hoping that during the break he could get Sasuke to skate board with him sometime. However, Naruto couldn’t see that happening any time soon, no matter how hard he tried to imagine it.

Naruto stopped again, holding back a laugh at the mental image of Sasuke skate boarding. The blond shook his head again as he arrived at his room.
