Of Spells and Ninjutsu

Title: Of Spells and Ninjutsu

Authors: Xin and Geia

Pairings: SasuNaru… Main pairing… but there will be others later

Warnings: Possibly dark moments, yaoi, sexual situations, swearing… other things that I can’t think of at the moment, but the important ones are there.

Note: This is a Naruto/Harry Potter crossover. Now I know there aren’t many of these (I don’t think) but I think we’ve come up with a pretty interesting plot device. So just stick with it and please if you have any questions about any of this story, don’t hesitate to ask. It is slightly AU so we’ve altered a tiny bit of the situations that have happened in Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince, where this story is taking place. So don’t expect the story to follow the book exactly. As with Naruto, we’re tweaking it but it will still be somewhat consistent with the series. So enjoy!!!

Summary: Naruto and Sasuke have kept a secret from the village of Konoha for quite a few years, disguising their “trips” as missions. Traveling to a commuter Wizarding School and taking on ninja missions must come to a Hiatus as the two teens are called upon by Albus Dumbledore himself with a request for their help.

Chapter 1

Two figures made their way silently through the forest just on the outskirts of Konoha. They were not heard for their skills were very advanced for their rank and it wasn’t as if their mission had been too difficult. To be truthful, they hadn’t had a mission at all, that’s just what Lady Tsunade had made it look like to the rest of the village who didn’t know about the situation.

Sasuke Uchiha landed without a sound and led the way up to the large gates of the village carrying his bag and looking like he'd just returned from a very important errand; to an onlooker that is. The truth was he was coming back from school. Now this was not any ordinary school, this was a school of a very different kind; a school for the Wizarding community in Japan.

Sasuke didn't let it bother him that he was a wizard. He knew he was since he was about ten years old. He really didn't want to recall that story, but it had something to do with the person walking right behind him; speaking of which… "Naruto, hurry the hell up, we're almost there. I'm hungry."

"Stick it in your ass. You’re not carrying the heavy stuff you freaking freeloader! I did all the hard work you just carried the damn thing all the way there! It was me who kept the raiders away from your sorry ass since your hands were full!"
Naruto Uzumaki landed just a few feet behind his dark haired best friend with an impish smile on his face. They’d played this little game of deception before many times and as long as they played their parts right, they could keep learning about the other parts of their lives without having to give up what they honestly did best.

Sasuke walked through the gates ignoring Naruto and led the way to his house. He had a weird feeling; like something big was going to happen, but he couldn't really think of anything that would possibly happen in this place; maybe an attack? Nah, they were allies with almost every village. He decided to ignore the weird feeling for now and unlocked his front door once they made their way there. "What do you want to eat?" Sasuke asked as he took off his shoes and shed his Chunin vest.

"What else? Ramen, always. The stuff they have out there really doesn’t measure up to Ichiraku’s or yours. Please? I promise not to mess up the kitchen this time." Naruto cast his best pleading gaze on his spiky haired friend and tried to look as pathetic as possible. Sure Sasuke never really fell for this look but God damn it he was going to keep trying!

Sasuke sighed and wrapped his arms around the blonde's waist. "Fine... but don't expect it every night ok?" After a quick peck to the blonde’s delectable lips, he went off to the kitchen to start preparing dinner. The school they went to was a commuter school... well, sort of. They went for about two months at a time and then came home for about a month to relax a bit before going back for another two months. It was a pain in the ass and frankly Sasuke wouldn’t have minded just living at the damn school and calling it an extended mission. No one would know the difference.

He spotted something sitting on his counter that wasn't there when they had left for school two months ago... that must be the big thing he was feeling earlier. But who was it from and what did they want from him? Also, what time did it leave? Could it be… the letter he received had told him that it would be arriving soon.

Naruto strutted into the kitchen and had nearly sat down at the table when the unknown object caught his eye as well. Unlike Sasuke, Naruto rarely got feelings of foreboding, eminent excitement to be sure but nothing that helped him prepare for hazarding battles; those kinda tended to get the jump on him. "Sasuke, why do you have some random shiny think on your counter? I thought blue/green vases were more Sakura's thing not yours. And what's with the gay little handles on the sides? You probably couldn't even pick the thing up by them!"

Sasuke kept his back turned to his work. "Don't touch it Naruto. It's a portkey... You'd think after five years in school you'd know that." He really thought Naruto was going to actually listen to him this time, but yet again, he was disappointed.

"So mister smarty pants, where does it lead to? It got here for a reason and I don’t see legs on it. Besides, between your sealing Jutsus and your families little mutant I doubt anyone could have put it in here by accident. In fact, I think I want to touch it."

Sasuke turned around quickly and tried to hit it out of the way with something besides his hand... no such luck befell the Uchiha and he had to grab the handle of the portkey at the exact same moment that Naruto did and the horrible feeling traveling through portkey started to make him feel sick.

When he landed he heard the sound of vomiting and he did not want to look at what he knew had happened. It happened every time Naruto traveled that way... he always got sick... just great.

The raven looked around and noticed he was in a very nicely kept office with a large desk off to the side and shelves of books. He also noticed some weird instruments... if you could call them that, on a small table near the door and the most bizarre of all... a bird, with fiery red feathers who seemed to be scrutinizing Sasuke.... like he was judging Sasuke's worth to be in the room.

Professor Albus Dumbledore cringed at the sound of someone losing their lunch on his floor and rubbed his forehead at the job the house elves were going to have getting the smell out of the old carpets after Filch had finished cleaning up the rest of the mess beforehand. The old headmaster turned around and smiled at the guest he could see to ease any concerns the young lad might have at being sent halfway across the world for an important mission and training. "How nice of you to drop in. You've caught me a little unprepared I’m afraid. I wasn’t expecting you for another day or so but regardless..." Dumbledore stopped speaking as a rather sick looking blond got to his hands and knees from behind his much anticipated guest; something hadn't gone quite right with the portkey apparently.

"Sasuke, can’t they make a portkey that doesn’t make you want to hurl?"

Sasuke sighed and stood up. He turned to the old man and his eyes widened. This was supposedly the greatest Headmaster in all of the Wizarding schools; Albus Dumbledore. "You're professor Dumbledore. So you're the one who sent me the portkey?" He ignored Naruto as the sick blond stood up and wobbled a bit next to him.

"Well I did ask that your headmaster see that it got in the right place at the right time but I was unaware that you shared your house with a friend. I would have asked that the portkey be hidden more cleverly than it obviously was." Dumbledore looked form Sasuke to Naruto and mentally sighed. He had been hoping to bring that particular wizard over in another few weeks so that Voldemort wouldn't take note of a lone portkey getting past the ministry’s nets but what was done was done.

Naruto however had his own idea about what was going on. "What the hell? I thought no one could get into your house Sasuke aside from Kakashi -Sensei but why would he put that thing in your kitchen? And what do you mean hidden more??! You left it in the kitchen!"

Sasuke glared at Naruto. "Do you know who this man is?" he whispered fiercely. He turned to Dumbledore. "I'm so sorry for his rudeness Sir. But in all honesty, the portkey was just sitting on my kitchen counter. Oh and just for the record, he doesn't live with me." Sasuke stated vehemently, pointing to Naruto.

"I might as well since I’m over at your place more often than I stay at mine...” Naruto sulked under his lover’s gaze while the phoenix, he remembered reading about them, cast an absolutely burning glance on him like it had deemed him too stupid to live or to even be in the room.

Dumbledore nodded at Sasuke’s apology and tried to judge how this blond, Naruto if he remembered the boy’s name correctly, sullenly responded to his friend’s unspoken rebuke. "It's perfectly alright my young friend. Having you both here can make things much easier on the future of our world but I must impress on both of you that a certain amount of discretion is needed if your task is to be completed smoothly.”

A loud knock was heard at that time and Sasuke jumped a bit at the sheer volume of the sound. Whoever was on the other side must be enormous. But he thought giants didn't usually interact with... well...wizards.

"Ah excuse me for just a moment Mr. Uchiha this should only take a bit." The old wizard looked at the doors that lead out of his office and smiled pleasantly as he called his new visitor in. "You may enter Hagrid. I'd like to introduce you to a few new students before we get on to business."

Naruto stared at the doors behind him and tried not to do anything too thoughtless. Like Sasuke, he believed that the intruder at the door was a giant but the blond highly doubted he could handle such a creature even with Sasuke's help.

The doors opened and Hagrid, a giant of a man with long dark hair and a beard. The hair and beard were so thick that you could only see the man's smiling eyes. He took a look at the two new students and the sparkle in his eyes became even brighter. "Well, if it isn't the new transfer student... well students I should say from the look of it." He gave a questionable look to Dumbledore as if to say. 'I thought we were only bringing one for now?'

Sasuke tried not to stare. Ok, so it wasn't a giant per say, but he was huge nonetheless.

Naruto however, stared openmouthed at the bear of a man in the room and nearly let his jaw bounce off the floor before he realized what he was looking at.

"We do have an unexpected arrival but we'll have to make the most of it. Sasuke, Naruto; this is the groundskeeper of Hogwarts Rubeus Hagrid. Hagrid let me introduce you to Sasuke Uchiha and his good friend Naruto Uzumaki; they will be our guests this year."

"He's bigger than anyone back in Konoha! Sasuke, he’s nearly as tall as the stone heads!"

Sasuke, not wanting to show anymore aggression in front of the teachers, merely glared at Naruto. "I'm sure he doesn't appreciate you comparing his size to a mountain in our village." he said between clenched teeth.

Hagrid gave a laugh and waved his hand in dismissal. "Nah, don't bother me any. And it's nice to meet you both. I'm sure you'll be a great help to Dumbledore and Harry..." he stopped there and gave a look to the old wizard again, not sure if he was supposed to mention Harry or not.

"Ah yes, Harry. Has there been any word on how he's doing? I'm afraid I’ve been too busy getting everything in order for Sasuke's arrival to check on him as often as I should."

Naruto sided closer to his teammate and tried not to be heard this time. "Who's this Harry person they're talking about? You don’t think it's THE Harry do you?"

Sasuke sighed and just nodded. He knew all about why he was here. He had gotten a letter a few weeks ago explaining the situation but not really knowing when he would be coming. Most likely it was to be kept secret for the Ministry and anyone else who might pass on the information to a less than reliable source.

"Oh, he's spending the rest of the summer at the Weasley's... I just got the letter a few days ago as a matter of fact." Hagrid said happily, not hearing the conversation going on between the two teens next to him. "I suppose you'd be wanting me to help these two get there safely?"

"If you wouldn't mind. I'm sure Naruto would get lost along the way if he were left to his own devices; much like Ron I’m afraid."

Naruto huffed at what he perceived as an insult and puffed himself up to give both these people a piece of his mind.

Sasuke immediately stepped in front of Naruto, thus cutting off anything the blond was about to say. "We'd be happy to let you take us Hagrid... Sir." he said to make Hagrid feel a bit more important than he probably was.

The shine of tears could be seen immediately in the large man's eyes at Sasuke's manners. "I haven't been called Sir... ever." he said as he pulled out his spotted handkerchief... "You my boy are going to be very popular around here with that kind of attitude."

Sasuke just beamed. His job was done here.

Dumbledore watched the exchange with a look of mild tolerance at Sasuke's act. He’d have to watch this one just to make sure he didn’t start any trouble. Naruto seemed honest enough. His face seemed to show whatever he was thinking or feeling at any given moment. "Well now that the essentials are out of the way, perhaps it’s time to get you to the Weasley’s house. I do hope Mrs. Weasley won’t mind having an extra guest in the house."

Naruto scoffed at the raven’s little deception and pretended to cough to hide his opinion of Sasuke's little performance. That was total bullshit! Sasuke never said or treated anyone like a sir in his life!

Hagrid nodded to Dumbledore and opened the door once more. "Alright then, we best be off you two. Oh and don't worry, you'll love the Weasley's; they’re a very nice family." he said more for Naruto's sake who looked a bit nervous. He nodded his goodbyes to Dumbledore and beckoned for the two teens to follow him.

Sasuke bowed to Dumbledore and followed the huge man out. "So, when you mentioned someone named Harry..." unfortunately he couldn't finish his question because he was rudely interrupted by his dick of a boyfriend.

"What was that all about? You’re planning something Sasuke I just know it; now spill it!" the blond grabbed his friends shoulder roughly and shook the raven for emphasis. He wasn't going to get blown off about this!

Sasuke pushed the blond away from him. "What the hell is your problem? I wasn't faking my statement. Now stop interrupting me."

Hagrid just raised an eyebrow as he walked on. "Now now, no need to fight. You'll get all your answers once you get to the Weasley's I suspect." He led them to a room with a fire place in it. "Alright, now you'll be traveling by floo powder... you have done that before, haven't you?"

Naruto stared at the fireplace and tried to figure out how they were going to get to this Weasley place with a flu. It didn’t seem to make much sense to the blond and he definitely didn’t want to get sick just to get dinner. "But I don’t want to get sick at someone’s house. It’s bad enough with a portkey."

Sasuke rolled his eyes. "You're such a dumb ass. In the Wizarding world, obviously not in Japan though since we don’t have these, it’s used for transport. We've never done it because we don't have fireplaces in the Fire country... ironically enough."

Hagrid nodded. "Exactly right Sasuke. You'll make a fine student." he said enthusiastically. "Now, grab some powder both of you."

Naruto shot a dirty glance at Sasuke and reached into the bag Hagrid offered the two Chunin. The powder was gray and strangely soft despite the fact that it looked like ash from a burnt down house. So this was the floo stuff, but how would this ordinary looking powder get them from here to there? "So what now? This stuff looks like the dirt under my bed at home and there's no way in hell that stuff could make people move in a fire instead of burning." The blond scowled at his hand and a bit of the powder fell to the floor from between his clenched fingers. Unless his hands started to sweat he'd probably lose more of the ordinary looking stuff.

Hagrid handed the bag to Sasuke who took some as well before he spoke. "Alright, so what you want to do is stand in the fireplace and say your destination before you drop the powder at your feet. In this case, you want to say 'The Burrow'. Now remember to say it clearly or else you might get lost and end up in the wrong place."

Sasuke nodded and stood in the fireplace and looked at the blond. "I'll say it." he told Naruto as he watched his boyfriend step in hesitantly beside him.

"If we end up in a rabbit hole I'm going to kill you." Naruto stood as close to Sasuke as he could and mentally sat on the part of his mind that was laughing at him for what he was about to do and promised to bitch the raven out if this didn't work. "Let’s get this over with because I’m still hungry."

Sasuke took a deep breath. "Ok, on the count of three, I'm going to say it and then you drop your....stuff." He glanced at Hagrid who nodded once before he continued. "One, two, three... The Burrow." and he dropped his powder along with Naruto and they were instantly engulfed in green flames that didn't burn them at all. It was a weird sensation. It was like flying but you were standing still. He could see entrances to other fireplaces whoosh by until they landed, hopefully, at their destination. He looked over at Naruto, who looked like he had just had a heart attack. "Are you ok?" he asked quietly as he wrapped his arms around the blond.

Naruto calmed his madly beating heart and buried his face in Sasuke's shoulder. He loved it when they shared moments like this, especially since Sasuke normally didn’t start them. If only they weren't in some random persons fireplace. "I'm fine, just a little dizzy that's all."

Sasuke ran his fingers through Naruto's hair and kissed him softly."Let's see if we're in the right place." he said as he let go of the blond and stepped out into the main room.

Naruto looked around at the cluttered room outside the fireplace. Various objects lined the walls and up on a shelf was what looked like an old clock with more than the normal number of hands and words instead of numbers. Old worn furniture filled the room and here and there knitted blankets or an oversized doily rested in complimenting colors and on the couch a pair of knitting needles were working themselves with a ball of yarn spinning beneath them to keep the work going smoothly.

This was apparently a living room and to the sides were an old fashioned kitchen and maybe the way out of the house into whatever passed for a front yard in this country. Somewhere in the house people were moving and by the sound of it, one of them was getting close. "Sasuke... do you think we're at the right place?"

Sasuke looked around and grimaced at the clutter. It wasn't that the house was dirty, it was just... packed. "How should I know? It's not like anyone gave us a description or a picture...." But before he could continue, a middle aged woman with bright red hair popped seemingly out of nowhere and rushed over to them with a huge smile plastered on her face.

The woman bounced across the room to her guests and brought herself up short when she saw the second boy behind the one she'd been told to expect, not that she had much to go on by Dumbledore’s description but she was sure that there wasn't any mention of a blond boy with curious marks on his cheeks and blue eyes. "Ah there you are! Dumbledore told me someone new would be staying with us for about a week but I didn’t expect him to invite two students from that school in Japan. No matter though! I'm sure I can find room for you both. Why don’t you both come into the kitchen, I have some tea on and I’ll get you cleaned up. Some people just never clean their fireplaces up enough to keep the traveling witch or wizard from getting dirty in the floo network."

Naruto stared at the round woman and tried not to let his mouth run like it usually did when he got confused. The lady wore a floral print dress that went from her collarbone to her ankles and the sleeves had been made the same way as the coverings in the living room although the colors of the sleeves matched the dress far more accurately than the other knitted things around her. Maybe she did all the knitting when the oversized sticks weren’t moving themselves.

Sasuke nodded to the woman. "My name's Sasuke Uchiha and this is Naruto Uzumaki. We had a bit of a problem and Naruto wasn't supposed to come until next week. But I guess he's too impatient." he said smiling just a bit too much to be his real attitude.

"A pleasure to meet you both. I know some people can get feisty about how they're addressed and I'm sure I couldn’t say your last names without butchering them." the plump woman laughed more at herself than at the pair if ninja standing in her living room. "So I hope you don’t mind if I just use your first names."

"Uh, thanks? You could just call me Naruto. Everyone does back home, speaking of which, I still haven’t had dinner. Sasuuuuuu, couldn't you have kept me from touching the key thing until after I’d had some Ramen?"

Sasuke glared at the blond. "I tried to... but no, you just had to grab it even though you knew it wasn't for you..." he was interrupted by feet running down stairs and he was greeted with the sight of three teens, roughly the same age as himself and Naruto. One had red hair like the women and he was a bit taller than him. The other was a girl with bushy brown hair and a superior air to her. The last one... was him. Harry Potter, the one that they were here for.

Harry looked at the two newcomers and thought they looked very odd. The one blond was wearing practically all orange and the other looked like he... wait a minute... he knew that face and those eyes.... he was...

"Hello there. I'm Hermione Granger; you two must be the new transfer students from Japan. I read all about your country and it seems like a wonderful place." The girl said enthusiastically as she held out her hand to Sasuke first who just looked at it and then back up at her.

"Sasuke Uchiha." he said without taking the offered hand.

Ron stared at the pair of outsiders with a mix of curiosity and apprehension on his face. Apprehension more so toward Sasuke who looked very familiar somehow and not in a good way. He'd never heard anything about transfer students before now, much less that they were going to be staying at the burrow. It was crowded enough with Harry and Hermione staying until the start of school. Even if Percy, Fred, and George had already moved out all that extra space had been taken up by Ginny's things and more recently stuff from his dad's work with the Order. Where were they going to put these two? Not in his room the Gryffindor hoped!

Naruto looked at the trio. The girl reminded him of Sakura for some reason, maybe the mention of reading about something before having actually done it… The blond looked away from the red haired boy who looked so much like the woman he'd been talking to that they must be family, and finally settled on looking at the only one in the room wearing glasses. This one looked familiar somehow.

Hermione wasn't bothered by Sasuke's aloofness and instead focused his attention on Naruto. "I've read about you! You're Naruto Uzumaki the container of Kyuubi! Oh my, I'm so sorry, you probably don't like talking about that do you?" she looked ashamed as she blushed slightly.

Harry gave Hermione a reproachful look but didn't say anything to the newcomers. He was still getting over the uncanny resemblance between Sasuke and…

Sasuke looked over at Naruto, trying to gauge the blonde's reaction to this. Of course Naruto already knew about Kyuubi, the demon fox that lived inside of him, but Naruto didn’t usually like being reminded of that fact.

Ron stared bug eyed at his friend and fought the urge to do something about Hermione. When she got to talking about people, she usually didn't stop until it got really awkward like this. "Hermione, if you had a giant, killer demon inside you do you really think you'd want people staring at you and asking about it? I mean you've seen how Harry gets when people ask about his scar. It’s kind of the same thing really."

The orange clad ninja cast a grateful glance at the redhead and pushed back what he'd been about to say. "It’s alright. It’s not like it can get out or anything like that."

Harry spoke up at that moment. "Did Dumbledore tell you both why you were brought here?" he wanted to get straight to the point. They really had no time to waste with pleasantries.

"Now now! I’m sure we've all got questions for our guests but I’m sure it can wait until after breakfast, After all they've only just gotten here and I personally would like to get them settled in before the three of you start bothering them. Besides you know the rule, no Order business at the table." With that Mrs. Weasley herded the two new guests into the kitchen to whip something up quickly and to keep either Harry or Hermione form harassing the two before she got a chance to reassure them. The blond had looked a little out of his depth when Ron and his friends had come downstairs.

Sasuke felt so out of place here. These people were just too nice. He wasn't used to nice...

They all sat down at the table and waited for breakfast to be made and served. Sasuke noticed that Naruto was talking away to the others while he sat and listened. He was rarely asked anything, probably because of the way he was glaring at his boyfriend the whole time. Damn Naruto, ruining everything. At least the mistake wasn't detected… not that he could tell yet. Hopefully it would stay that way; unnoticed.

Yay for new stories!!! Please review… I know its way different from anything we’ve done so far... but we thought it was a interesting idea. So feedback would be awesome!

Just a little side note: I mentioned that Sasuke and Naruto had been going to school for five years prior to them joining Hogwarts… But I’m making the schooling in Japan different than in England, so five years for them, would equal six for Hogwarts… so Sasuke and Naruto would be in their sixth year in England and their fifth year in Japan. Sorry if that threw anyone off.
