Just Your Ordinary Life
The sound of sirens, pain, orders and screams, the smell of antiseptic, were all a part of the carefully controlled chaos of the ER.
One Naruto Uzumaki was currently scrubbing up, a patient with a ruptured spleen waiting for him in the operating room.
He had lost count of the number of operations he had preformed that day. Nodding to the doctor on the other side of their patient, Naruto set to work.
„Oi teme!“ Naruto yelled out, catching sight of a familiar duck-butt hairdo. The man in question turned around and Naruto smiled widely making his way to his closest friend. „Overtime again?“ Naruto questioned. „Hn“ Sasuke replied. Naruto, knowing him better than anyone except maybe Sasuke's older brother Itachi, understood that to mean yes in Sasuke-speak.
„You“ Sasuke asked, although his voice was completely devoid of any type of intonation. Naruto nodded.
„Anyone die on you?“ he asked.
„No“ Sasuke answered. „You“
„No“.
„Good day then“ Naruto nodded in agreement.
„Time to go home, eh Teme?“ Sasuke nodded, glad for the infinite time that he had turned his back on his family's business, the Uchiha Corporation, in favor of pursuing med-school with his best friend. That had probably been the best move of his life. Right after deciding to move in with said best friend. Not to mention befriending him in the first place. Not that he'd ever tell Naruto that.
A discreet knock on the door, and his secretary popped her head inside „Sir, I'm leaving for tonight.“ Uchiha Itachi lifted his ruby-eyed gaze from the laptop on his table. „Of course.Thank you, Shizune. Good night“ his eyes were back on the laptop long before the soft click of the latch told him the door was closed.
He worked steadily for two more hours, until his head started to hurt and the words in front of him to blur. He sighed, saving his work and shutting his laptop. His eyes fell on the one picture on his desk, that of his younger brother with their beloved hyperactive blonde. Sometimes, and now was one of them, he greatly envied his bullheaded younger brother, who had managed to leave the Uchiha Corporation behind.
He pushed the wistful thoughts to the back of his mind. Now was not the time to think about it. Now was the time for him to go home and get some sleep.
He hated the thought of going back to the huge empty mansion. Well, it wasn’t really empty. The dozens of servants working in the mansion weren’t exactly company though.
What he really wanted, and it was hard admitting it even to himself, was a lover. But very few people could stand the strain of being with a CEO of such a huge company, not to mention the strain of being with an emotionally challenged Uchiha. Itachi pulled out his cell. He might not have a lover, but he could always call on his old group of friends for company. “Hey Deidara….how about drinks at my place tomorrow? Around nine? Yes the whole gang….”
“Sasuke! Teme, hurry up! We’ll be late! You’re taking more time than a fucking bride for chrissake!” Naruto yelled through the bathroom door of their shared apartment. The door opened abruptly and Sasuke gave Naruto the patented Uchiha glare.
“Coming?” the Uchiha asked breezing by the blonde. Naruto rolled his eyes and sighed. The Uchiha was like a frigid princess-bitch sometimes.
“Why the hell do I put up with you teme?” Naruto asked in the car. He’d crossed his arms and his lips were set in a pout. “Because you love me. And because if it wasn’t for me you’d still be wearing orange shirts with green pants. Honestly, you’re the only gay guy I know with bad fashion sense.“ Naruto turned to glare at his friend. “Well sooorry. Not all of us like to wear black all the time, Emo-prince” Now it was Sasuke’s turn to glare. “I am not an emo prince” he said, emphasizing each word. Naruto smiled. “My bad Emo-princess” Sasuke hit Naruto on the head without taking his eyes off the road. “I’m not the one Sai calls dickless, Naruko”
“No. But that’s only because Sai doesn’t care ‘bout the size of your dick. It’s your ass he’s interested in. And will you stop calling me Naruko? It was fucking Halloween teme, and you know I lost a bet. You’re the one I bet against!”
Sasuke just smirked. “I know. I’ve still got the pictures. You make a very cute fairy, Naruko.”
Naruto humphed and proceeded to sulk until they reached the Uchiha mansion.
Never one to stay mad for long, Naruto wriggled under Sasuke’s arm when they got out of the car. Sasuke shot him a glare, but made no move to pull away. He was used to Naruto’s constant need for physical contact.
“How come Tachi’s getting the gang together? Did something happen?” Naruto asked curiously. Sasuke shrugged. “Not that I know. Of course, ever since I went all black-sheep on the Corporation, and Uchiha family values, I haven’t seen much of Aniki.”
Naruto caught the slight sadness in Sasuke’s voice. The Uchiha brothers might not get along so well, but they were still close. Naruto knew that Sasuke missed his older brother. He also knew that Sasuke wouldn’t change any of the decisions that had brought him to where he was now. It made for an interesting situation.
Sasuke rang the doorbell of the huge western-style mansion and proceeded to go in without pause. Naruto followed suit. He knew the layout of the Uchiha compound like the back of his hand. He had spent most of his childhood running around it, usually with Sasuke, as a furious Itachi chased them in retaliation for some prank.
“The game room?” Naruto asked.
“Where else?” Sasuke replied with a smirk.
“Hey, what do I know? Maybe your brother finally decided to replace the stick up his ass with a cock. For all I know he could have invited us to an orgy.”
Naruto heard a dry chuckle behind him. “Sorry to disappoint you Naruto. I haven’t planned any orgies yet. If I do, you’ll be the first to know.”
Naruto turned to glomp Itachi. The older Uchiha hugged the exuberant blond with a slight smile on his face.
“It’s good to see you too, Naru-chibi.” Naruto pouted. “I’m waay to old for that nick-name Tachi.” He told the older boy. Itachi smiled apologetically and slung an arm round Naruto’s shoulder, leading him to the game room. “Sorry, Naru. But I still have flashbacks to when you and Sasuke were running around in your underwear.” Naruto stuck his tongue out. “Careful” Itachi warned. “I might just bite it off”
“If you want my tongue in your mouth Tachi, all you have to do is ask”
Itachi smiled good-naturedly. The blond always made him feel good. “Sorry, Naruto. But I don’t seduce little children.” Naruto stuck his tongue out at Itachi again.
“I’m legal, as you well know, Tachi. You’re the one who threw me the party. But speaking of seducing little children, there’s this doctor in research who’s after Sasuke’s ass. The guy is majorly creepy. Not to mention he’s over forty. ”
Naruto affected a shudder at the thought of the nasty doctor. Sasuke groaned beside him. “No mentioning Orochimaru tonight, Naruto. It’s enough that I have to put up with him trying to molest me every chance he gets.”
Itachi frowned at his younger brother. “Do you want me to take care of him otouto?”
Sasuke felt a wave of icy fear creep along his spine at the look in his brother’s eye. “That won’t be necessary aniki.” He told his brother firmly.
Itachi nodded.
Naruto seemed oblivious to the exchange “Come on already!” he whined. “I wanna see the gang.” Puppy eyes accompanied that statement. Both Uchihas fought to keep smiles of their faces.
“Alright, Naruko.” The Uchihas followed their favorite hyperactive blonde to the game room. Sasuke looked at his brother and noticed that Itachi’s gaze was firmly glued to Naruto’s ass. He smirked and leaned in to whisper “You’re in danger of drooling aniki.”
His older brother turned to glare at him. Sasuke’s smirk just widened. The glare didn’t work on other Uchiha. Itachi should know that by now.
The first ten minutes when they entered the game room were filled with hugs, sloppy kisses, and other genial forms of greeting, Naruto’s eyes swept over the people he had more or less grown up with. They were family in every way that mattered.
Deidara was firmly in his boyfriend’s lap whispering into his ear. From the look on Sasori’s face, the subject wasn’t meant for polite conversation. Kisame seemed to be telling Kankuro about his new pet shark or some such thing. Kankuro actually looked interested. But then again, Kankuro played with puppets and wore cat-eared hoodies so Naruto shrugged it off.
Gaara and Temari, Kankuro’s elder sister and younger brother, were arguing about Gaara’s promiscuity. Itachi had been Tachi-napped by Neji and Shikamaru to play shogi or go…Naruto wasn’t sure which.
Sai was doing the same as Naruto, people watching.
Kiba was making a fool of himself, along with Lee, who was cheering on his youthful energy. Sasuke was watching them with a look of mixed amusement and exasperation in his eyes.
Hinata had gone to try and diffuse Gaara and Temari’s argument. Naruto watched in fascination as the quiet girl quickly reconciled the siblings and then sent Gaara to talk to Naruto, while engaging Temari in conversation herself. They were the only two women in their gang of friends so they mostly kept together, despite the fact that they couldn’t be more different.
Shino walked over to Naruto just as Gaara got there. Naruto stopped his people watching and fell into an easy conversation with two friends he hadn’t seen in a long time. So engrossed was he in his conversation, in fact, that he didn’t notice Sasuke stand up and leave. Nor did he notice Sai follow him.
Sasuke walked into his old bedroom, surprised to find it exactly as he left it, without a speck of dust on the oak shelves or the carpet. Itachi had obviously given orders that the room was to be kept spotless, in case Sasuke ever needed somewhere to stay. Sasuke sat down on his queen-sized bed with the black silk sheets, his onyx gaze roaming over his collection of shounen jump and manga volumes. That particular obsession was Naruto’s fault.
The thought of Naruto pulled Sasuke’s eyes to the one wall that was devoid of furniture, instead, the walls surface was obscured by many framed photographs. All of them contained him and Naruto, sometimes alone, sometimes with others from their gang. The photos were set around a centerpiece, a painting done in water-based acrylics, showing an orange fox with nine tails and a very familiar shit-eating grin, curled around a huge black dragon with white markings. If you looked very closely the markings on the dragon’s back shaped the Uchiha family crest. And if you looked closer still, into the background of the painting, you’d see that there was a third animal drawn in. A raven perched on one of the trees framing the cliff the fox and dragon were on. Oddly enough, the raven managed to look both jealous of the two and protective. Sasuke had always been fascinated by that raven.
“I see you left it behind” Sasuke turned around, startled.
He looked at Sai with a raised eyebrow. Sai took it as an invitation and came into the room to sit beside Sasuke. “The painting I did” he explained, nodding towards it. Sasuke followed his gaze and once more his eyes were drawn to the lonely raven. “It didn’t feel right to move it away. It sort of belongs here, somehow. Like it was painted exactly for this wall.” Sai looked at Sasuke with amusement in his dark blue eyes. “It was.” He told the younger boy.
“It was what?”
“Painted for that wall.” Sai smiled “Remember, Naruto, you and I were here and we were talking about how empty that wall looked, and Naruto told you to hang photos on it. Seeing as your birthday was in a week I decided to make you something for your empty wall.”
Sasuke looked surprised at this revelation. He hadn’t known that Sai had put so much thought into the painting. Oh, he knew that obviously the boy had thought out what he would paint, how and where very carefully, but he hadn’t known that the boy had painted it specifically to fill the space of something Sasuke thought as empty.
Looking at the painting again, Sasuke realized how the subtle shading fit the color-scheme of his room. The gray-blue cliffs and sky set of the navy blue of his walls. The black-white of the dragon matched his bed, carpet and curtains. The brown-orange of the fox seemed to bring out the warmth of the oak shelves. “You really thought it out huh?” he said softly. Sai shrugged. “I wanted you to like it.” He told the Uchiha matter of factly. Sasuke nodded silently.
A few minutes passed in companiable silence before Sasuke broke it to ask what had been on his mind for years. “ The raven in the background, the one watching the fox and the dragon that’s you, isn’t it?”
Sai smiled widely. “I wondered if you noticed that. The raven is as much me as the dragon and fox are you and Naruto.”
“The dragon and fox are me and Naruto” Sasuke said.
“Are you sure?” Sai asked archly.
Sasuke decided not to get into a philosophical discussion with Sai. He knew from experience that he would lose. Sasuke didn’t like to lose so he avoided battles he couldn’t win.
“Why does the raven look like it’s guarding them? And at the same time it looks like it envies them?”
Sai looked at Sasuke as though he was stupid. “Because it is. It cares about them, so it protects them, but at the same time it envies their love for each other, their closeness. It feels left out and lonely.”
Sasuke finally turned away from the painting to look at Sai. “Is that how you feel? Left out and lonely?”
Sai smiled mysteriously “Sometimes” he admitted “and sometimes I just feel pissed of”
“Why?” Sasuke asked. He and Sai had drawn closer together during their conversation. Now their noses were almost touching and all it would take for their lips to meet would be for one of them to tilt his head. “Because the dragon doesn’t notice that the raven loves him.”
“He’s noticed now. What’s the raven going to do?”
“What does the dragon want the raven to do?”
Sasuke was tired of talking in metaphors. “I think you should shut up and kiss me already” he informed the older boy.
“If you say so” Sai whispered against Sasuke’s lips. He cradled Sasuke’s face in his hands gently, and touched his lips to the younger boy’s. He had been waiting for this for a very long time, and he’d be damned if he scared Sasuke away now.
Sasuke, however, seemed to be displeased at the careful way he was being kissed. He drew away from the older boy and shot him a glare. “Am I made of glass or something? I’m not going to break Sai” with that Sasuke pushed the older boy onto his back, straddling him firmly. He attacked Sai’s lips with his own furiously. Sai finally seemed to realize what the Uchiha wanted and smiled to himself. If Sasuke wanted it rough, he’d be happy to oblige him.
Sai rolled them over suddenly, so that Sasuke was under him, and Sai was wedged firmly between his spread legs. He caught Sasuke’s wrists in his hands and held them down against the surface of the bed. He rolled his hips into Sasuke’s causing the most delightful feeling of friction. A gasp tore itself free of Sasuke’s throat. “You sure you won’t break?” Sai teased looking down into lust-filled onyx eyes. “Bastard” Sasuke hissed at him.
“My parents were respectably married when I was born Sasuke”
Sai leaned down to kiss Sasuke’s lips, before trailing lower over his neck, licking, biting, sucking…
He left several dark love bites and felt a rush of pure satisfaction. Everyone would know that the beautiful Uchiha was his.
“Don’t move” Sai ordered the younger boy shortly, before letting go of his hands, and setting to work on Sasuke’s shirt. He unbuttoned it quickly, deft fingers baring pale, perfect flesh. His lips kissed the newly exposed skin, as his hands labored to get Sasuke out of his pants. He stopped kissing only long enough to pull off Sasuke’s pants and throw them into the nearest corner. Then he paused, drinking in the sight in front of him. Sasuke was breathing heavily, his pale skin slightly flushed, and a thin sheen of sweat covering his body.
Sasuke wriggled in annoyance. “You done staring yet?” he asked impatiently. “Why? Does my staring bother you?” Sai watched as Sasuke flushed even more. “Not exactly. What bothers me is the fact that I have a feeling you’re memorizing how I look so you can paint me.” Sai grinned. Sasuke felt fear. “How did you guess?”
“Sai! Don’t you dare-“The rest of what Sasuke was going to say was lost as Sai bent down and promptly deep-throated Sasuke’s cock. Sasuke’s hands came to tangle into Sai’s hair, a soft keening coming from Sasuke’s throat. If Sasuke knew he was making such an undignified sound, he didn’t care. Sai concentrated on wringing every bit of pleasure he could from the younger boy he’d loved for so long. He ignored the erection that was threatening to rip apart his pants, and swirled his pierced tongue over the head of Sasuke’s cock. He was rewarded with a guttural moan. “Shit” Sasuke breathed. “Sai, you need to stop….I’m not gonna last if you continue doing that”
Sai just redoubled his efforts, quickening the pace, and running his piercing over every part of Sasuke’s manhood that he could. It didn’t take long. Sasuke came with a sound that was reminiscent of a valkyrie’s battle cry. Sai swallowed the salty offering of his lover, then sat back on his heels. He watched as Sasuke lips curved into a small unguarded smile and his hands rose to pull Sai to him. Sai wrapped his arms around the smaller boy, and tucked Sasuke’s head under his chin. “What about you?” Sasuke asked, his voice muffled by Sai’s still-clothed chest. “Don’t worry about me. There’s time for that tomorrow.” Sai gave him a leer. Sasuke hit his arm half-heartedly. “Just shut up and go to sleep, baka Raven” Sai chuckled. “Whatever you say, little Dragon” Sasuke didn’t answer. He was already asleep. Sai kissed the top of his lover’s head, before joining him in the embrace of Morpheus.
Kiba smiled evilly. He had so much dirt on Sasuke and Sai, it wasn’t even funny. Well, actually, it was.
He laughed manically to himself. A passing servant stared at him, wondering whether or not to call the mental institution. Oh well. Master Itachi could do it if it was necessary.
Kiba went to tell everyone else about the two lovers, rubbing his hands in glee.
Naruto, Itachi, Shikamaru and Neji stared at Kiba in astonishment. Naruto was the first to speak “What the fuck are you talking ‘bout, dog-breath? Sasuke and Sai? Are you fucking high or something? No, don’t tell me, you ate Akamaru’s doggy treats again, right?” Kiba grinned through Naruto’s tirade. “Hey, you don’t have to believe me Sunshine. Go up to Sasuke’s room and look in. But don’t say I didn’t warn you.”
That was when Lee decided to join the conversation. “It would be very un-youthful to interrupt the two who are joined in the youthful bliss of love. I am afraid I could not condone such an action”
Naruto shared a Look with Itachi. The Look plainly said ‘we might have given him a makeover back in high-school, but we still can’t change the way he talks’
Surprisingly Neji backed Lee up. “Leave them alone. How would you feel if your friends spied on you right after you had sex?” Shikamaru nodded in agreement.
“I wouldn’t mind” Deidara piped up. Itachi threw a pillow at him. “That’s cause you’re an exhibitionist” he shot at him.
“ True. Very true.” Sasori agreed.
“Hey! You’re supposed to be on my side! Traitor!”
“Well it’s true.” Sasori insisted “Remember the time you were sucking me of in my office and my secretary came in, and you told her to enjoy the show?”
Deidara turned beet red and the rest of them laughed at their friend’s embarrassment. Sasori grinned mentally. The focus was away from Sai and Sasuke. Mission accomplished. Now all he had to do was make sure Deidara didn’t kill him.
Naruto walked up to Itachi. Itachi gave him one of his rare smiles. “Yes Naru-chibi?” Naruto pouted a little at the nickname. “Which guest room should I use?” he asked, getting straight to the point. Itachi looked at him with a raised eyebrow. “Guest room? You’ve never used one before” he commented. Naru smiled wryly. “I doubt that Sasuke or Sai would appreciate me sharing Sasuke’s bed at the moment. And if I take the car, Sasuke’s gonna be on my ass so…” Naru trailed off.
Itachi nodded in understanding. “Wait…Don’t you have a problem with sleeping in unfamiliar surroundings on your own?” Naruto flushed slightly. No matter how close he was to everyone in the gang, he still wasn’t comfortable with them knowing his vulnerabilities. “Yeah” he admitted reluctantly. Itachi smirked. “Well then, I guess you’ll just have to share my bed.” Naruto returned his smirk. “ So you’ve finally gotten me where you wanted, eh Tachi?” Itachi’s expression never wavered, despite the way that sinful voice went straight to his groin. “Are you so sure that that’s where I want you?” He asked, dropping his voice to a seductively velvet caress. Naruto tilted his head to the side, his expression dangerous. “Well, I know where I’d rather you had me…Up against the wall, with your body against mine, swallowing my moans with your lips...” Naruto’s words made even Itachi’s cool exterior slip. His lips parted slightly, letting out an inaudible breath, his alabaster skin pinkening just so. Naruto admired his handiwork for a moment. Then he stood back and smiled his trademark shit-eating grin. “You shouldn’t play with me anymore Tachi” he said conversationally “You might get burned” With a wink, Naruto turned his back on the powerful and dangerous businessman and walked away without a glance. Not halfway across the room and he was accosted by Gaara. Itachi let out a long breath. Naruto really had grown up. He smiled. It was about time.
Gaara had noticed Naruto and Itachi’s exchange. Now he was going to get the dirt straight from the source. “Naruto.” He watched as the mouth watering blond turned towards him. “Gaara” Naruto returned, his smile so wide it made Gaara feel loved and wanted immediately. Naruto just had that effect on people.
“So, finally making a move on Itachi?” he asked. Gaara never was one to beat around the bush. Naruto raised an eyebrow at him. “What makes you say that?” he asked carefully. Gaara snorted.
“Well, perhaps the fact that Itachi looks like he just got hit by a train, or the fact that I can lip-read. Take your pick”
Naruto grinned. “He does, doesn’t he?” he asked rhetorically, looking back at Itachi. “Well, you’ve been crushing on him since forever, finally gonna do something about it Sunshine?” the smile that crept over Naruto’s face was chilling. “Let me put it this way, my friend, Itachi doesn’t stand a chance.” Gaara looked at his blond friend and shot Itachi a look of pity. No, he didn’t stand a chance.
Itachi looked around at the now mostly empty game room. Deidara and Sasori had been sent to bed for being waay too explicit in their show of affection, Kiba had passed out and Lee had carried him to his room, also retiring because of the early morning he had. Kankuro and Kisame had disappeared somewhere, and Itachi’s mind was supplying him with images he fought hard to suppress. Hinata was yawning, and he watched as Temari offered the raven haired girl a hand up, and left the room with a soft goodnight. Shikamaru had fallen asleep on the couch (big surprise there), and Neji had carried his best friend up a while ago. Itachi idly wondered when the two would finally get together. Shino and Naruto were the only ones left now, except for Itachi himself. “I believe that I’ll go to bed too” Shino said in his monotone voice. “What? You’re actually going to sleep? But Shino, you’re an insomniac…” Naruto’s surprise was evident in his voice. “I’m not going to sleep. But the sexual tension between the two of you is far too awkward to be around without others to dilute it.” Shino said in his disturbingly matter-of-fact way. “Good night” He left. Which left Itachi and Naruto to sit in awkward silence.
