Dancers In The Mist
He was tired... running back and forth teaching small wandering minds trying to mold them into warriors, then training actual warriors how to behave like adults and not children...
And now here he was, trudging back to Konoha covered in muck, having taken on a mission that wasn't glamorous enough for the jounin superstars. and to make matters worse, it was getting dark. dark and muggy.
'At least it's a starry night,' he thought, 'best seek shelter and wash this stench off me.' Knowing better, he should have kept on towards home, but the night was too hot and who was there to greet him...? No rush that.
After a quick meal of roasted road kill, and deciding it was just too hot to sleep, the weary warrior gave in to his need for cleansing and stripped bare, rinsed out his uniform and hung it on some limbs to dry. Having finished and being alone, gave him time to indulge in one of his most cherished fantasies... a midnight swim. After snickering about how his students would be scandalized about his 'skinny dipping' he settled in for a nice cooling swim.
Some time later after noticing how high the moon had risen, the swimmer decided to head back to shore. Blinded by an incoming mist, the exhausted swimmer headed toward sounds coming from the shore, reasoning that he could tread water 'til he was far enough away to head back to his camp unseen.
As he drew closer, he noticed different shapes taking place in the mist, he spied a pack of dogs... not wanting to be seen, he started to turn away when suddenly he saw the most beautiful creature he'd ever seen. In the midst of the pack was an ethereal being made of legend. Drawn to this being like a moth to a flame, the swimmer rose out the sea, walking straight into the mist.
Quicksilver, he was quicksilver and light.
There doing an intricate kata in the mist of his frolicking pups was none other than the copy-nin himself, wearing nothing more than the mist and the energy around him.
Mis-matched eyes focused in a distant realm as he danced.
The swimmer couldn't help it... he was drawn to the dancer like a moth to a flame...
His inner peace shattered, Hatake Kakashi continued the kata, aware that he was not alone, his attention now focused on the shoreline.
Locking eyes with his unexpected guest, kashi waited as he arose from the water...
Once they drew close to each other, they began a different kind of dance.
