Puppy love

It was a cold winter night, the snow had begun to fall onto the ground, everyone in the house was asleep, or so it would seem, a small brown dog scurried about the house picking up articles of clothes from the laundry room and carrying them to a small closet in the hall.

These actions continued for a while, the brown and white dog grabbing shirts, socks, pants, even the humans clean boxers, he didn’t care, as long as it was soft and comfortable, as long as they would keep his precious treasure’s safe.

Naruto awoke to two small hands on his face, he let out a soft groan seeing the blue color lights on the clock, it was two-thirty in the morning, he looked down at the small child there, he loved his son, he really did, it just irked him Yuudai was up so late, the child was only five years old, no child that young should be awake at this ungodly hour in the morning

“Yuudai what is wrong? We gotta sleep; Daddy and Kakashi are coming back from japan tomorrow” the small child simply shook his head and pointed to the hall towards his room

“ ‘ruka takes mah blanky… Stole it’s off mah beds…” Naruto sat up on his bed and sighed, Iruka had been acting weird lately, he would whine for more food all the time, he’d gotten lazy, and refused to play with anyone, and Naruto had caught him more than once stealing pillows, blankets, sheets, and clothes from people’s rooms, Naruto pulled Yuudai onto the bed beside him and ran a hand through the child’s raven black hair, he pulled the blanket off himself and slowly got off the bed walking out of the room groaning, he’d have to put Iruka in the crate again, he hated doing it but the dog was bothering Yuudai, and now Naruto was irritated as well.

Slowly Naruto walked along the hall and stopped, he thought he heard a whimper, fear struck him like a ton of bricks, what if Iruka was sick, or injured? He’d been thinking the dog was just going through a puppy faze he’d forgotten to go through as a puppy! Naruto ran to the closet in the hall, it was open enough for the dog to slip in, he pulled the door open, Iruka laid on his make shift nest letting out another painful whine his body tense and shaking, Naruto ran back down the hall grabbing the phone and calling the only person he knew would get down here to help find out what was wrong with Iruka

“Naruto?.... It’s two-thirty in the morning… what’s wrong?”

“Something’s wrong with Iruka! P-please Itachi I’m worried, he’s in a lot of pain…”

“I’ll be right over” the line went dead, Naruto set the phone back down and ran to his room, Yuudai was sitting upright on the bed, his onyx black eyes filled with worry

“It’s ok Yuudai, Uncle Itachi is coming over, and he knows all about dogs remember?” Yuudai nodded slowly rubbing his eyes trying to fight back the tears, Naruto placed a small kiss on the child’s head before running out of the room, he went to the closet and knelt beside Iruka petting the dog softly, Iruka’s fur was wet and sticky, Naruto prayed for the dog’s safety
