Jashin Likes Pomegranates
Chapter 1: Jashin Likes Pomegranates
It was spring day when Deidara awoke from his deep sleep. His alarm clock read eight o’clock in the morning. “Two more hours until class.” He thought and slipped out of bed. He wore his trademark pajamas that had bang in a comic-like bubble. He stepped into the bathroom and performed his usual rituals of brushing his teeth, putting on some black eyeliner and putting a cream over the tattoo of a bomb that he got last week. The location of the tattoo… well, that would be on his right hip and he had no problem with the artist since it was his old high school friend Tobi. Putting his long blond hair in a ponytail and dressed in a T-shirt with a Bob-omb on it while sporting a pair of jeans, he set off for the campus café for some breakfast and a coffee. This was for two reasons, the first being that he needed a cup of coffee and a muffin or the fabric of time would unravel and it would be the end of the world, the next reason was to stare dreamily at the crush that he had since his first year of college (this being his third year). “Here’s your coffee and blueberry muffin, that’ll be $6.50.” The café attendant said in a bored expression like he usually did. “Shikamaru, you could at least smile when you give service.” The blond told him as he handed him seven dollars and told him to keep the change. “Not in the morning, Dei-boy, have a nice day.” The blond then took a seat a few tables shy of the sexiest guy on campus, Hidan. The white haired guy was his own age and dressed to get noticed every day. He was reading a book, like he usually did, and was wearing his classic Jashin pendent, black long-sleeved shirt with a sad face and white skinny jeans that had a few holes in them. The infatuated blond only knew what kind of pendent it was from endless web searching on the internet in order to get to know his crush better. Even though, it sounded like some creepy cult that worshipped pain and had an evil deity, Hidan didn’t seem like a bad person, at least he didn’t think so. “Go, move… GO!” He thought, but still the blond wouldn’t move. He was glued to his seat like Hidan had put some kind of curse on him. Only to be looked at, never approached. He sighed while eating his muffin and drinking his coffee. “Maybe if I pretend to have seen him in my class, hn.” He bit his lip and pondered about what scenario would be the best one to apply. “That’s it, I’ll just walk over and pretend that I recognize him, I mean… I know him since Shikamaru told me his name since they had a class together, maybe he’s taken an art class.” This thought was the driving force behind his future action, so he finished his breakfast and walked to the trash can (that was conveniently next to the white-haired stud). He walked by the table and stopped, while making a slight half turn. “Hey aren’t you Hidan? Yeah, I think I remember you from my Classical Art course.” He said, trying to ignore a creeping redness to his face and his sweaty palms. Hidan looked up at the blond with his piercing magenta eyes. The color may be from his contacts, but did they only add to his oozing sex appeal. “I haven’t taken such a class, nor would it even benefit me to do so, dumb fuck.” His face only showed an annoyed expression when he addressed this random stranger. Deidara was a bit stunned by his response, like anyone would be; his crush was a bastard who curses out complete strangers. This was not something he was used to, but he couldn’t just walk away after coming this far. He took a seat across from Hidan before his tablemate could say anything.“Hey, blond bitch! Did I say you could have a seat by me!? I don’t even know you, go bother someone else, I’m not in the mood to be dealing with morons like you.” He glared for a bit then figured that this response was enough to drive the blond away and went back to reading his book. “Erm… I’m sorry for bothering you this early, but I just thought I had seen you before, anyways, what’re you reading?” Pointing at the book, he tried to ignore the protests given to him. Hidan didn’t look up, but his attitude changed from annoyed and rude to knowledgeable and astute. “It’s a book about the religions of the world, about some of the philosophies shared and about the customs in each religion. My major is religious studies and philosophy, and I’m quite good at what I do. I need to know about the other useless practices in the world anyways, they’re all fools who don’t know about Lord Jashin.” His explanation made him smile, an almost twisted kind of smile. Deidara smiled as well, more for the fact that he was finally having a conversation with his dream lover rather than gazing from afar. “That seems like an interesting book, and who’s Lord Jashin?” The things on the internet were good facts, but he wanted Hidan’s own interpretation. “He’s you, he’s me, he’s many things, but the main thing you should know is that he hates those who do not know him or follow him.” He leaned back in his chair and finally found it more interesting to talk to this blond newcomer. “Hey, what’s your name anyways? And what’s your major?” He needed to get to know this blond more, maybe Lord Jashin sent an answer to his prayers. For a long time now, he has been having relationship troubles, mostly due to his strange sex tastes. Some could handle his requests and some couldn’t, coupled with his strict tenets of his religion, finding an actual lover was difficult. This blond headed kid wasn’t half-bad looking either and he smelled of pomegranate, which was a fruit mentioned in his Book of Jashin. The fruit of Jashin, it has to be a sign… Deidara was surprised by his request; he didn’t know this would be going so well for their first talk. “I’m Deidara, and my major is art.” He flashed a genuine grin and rubbed his shoulder. “It’s specifically pop art, but I like sculpting, too! And sometimes, I even blow them up, cause, well… they just seem to become more beautiful that way.” He usually didn’t tell anyone, but his closest friends this, however, he hoped Hidan would become a close friend to him and hopefully, his boyfriend. “That’s… a fucked up hobby, to destroy your own work. It probably seems to make you happy though, so blast those fuckers to pieces.” He smirked then stood up. “Hey, where’re you going?” Deidara didn’t want this talk to end, he wanted to know more about Hidan. “I have class. Don’t you have class sometime today?” Deidara looked at his cell phone. “Fuck, fuck, fuck, fuck… if I hurry, I’ll make it.” He got up fast, pushing the chair back and was about to leave then he felt a strong hand keep him still. He looked back and found Hidan holding him back. “Do you… want to talk more sometime?” Deidara could only give one obvious answer. “Yes, that would be great.” He smiled then they exchanged numbers and left to their separate classes. Today, Deidara would make the best art since he’d started college.
