Chapter 1

A child born unto human parents will be the salvation of a chosen pack. The mother moon shall bestow wondrous powers upon the child. The promised one will be destined as alpha of the most dominant bloodline. Pleasure and sorrow walk hand in hand. The trials and tribulations will be numerous, but the mother moon will stand by her children. She will not give them more than they can bear. At the end of the oblique path, joy beyond compare awaits the victors of the prophecy.

SASUNARU

A tall figure dressed in dark hues stood in the middle of a vast library, his eyes scanned the words on the ancient page before him. His onyx eyes wandered toward a large window at the other side of the room. His footsteps were slow and calculated as he approached the window. The figure basked in the rays of the moon. He could hear her whispering in his ear, "It is time." The now incandescent figure let out a pleased howl in response.

SASUNARU

Shrill screams of agony filled a room with plain white walls; the owner of the voice was twisted in his cotton sheets. Uzumaki Naruto was having a reoccurring dream. His hands tightly grasped his sheets until his knuckles turned white. With each second that passed the screams became significantly louder. Slowly moonlight flooded his bedroom and covered Naruto with its warm rays. Gradually a sense of calm crept up on the boy and his pulse returned to normal. Naruto sat up slowly before peering around his room. A sigh of relief escaped Naruto's lips before he shakily stepped out of bed. Naruto gasped loudly as his legs gave out, they refused to support his weight. He groaned in pain as his bottom hit the hard wood floor. Naruto made no effort to get back up; he instead slumped against the side of his bed.

Soon the blond boy began to pant loudly; he turned around to face his open window. His eyes widened in disbelief, he couldn't comprehend the feelings surging through his body. The rays of the moon seemed to compel him to move forth. Before Naruto could will away the compulsion, his body began to move on its own. Naruto blinked furiously when he realized that he was standing in front of his window. How had he moved so quickly? "Come to me," a soothing voice whispered in his ear. Naruto slowly lifted his hand toward the glass on his window. The cool surface under his palm made the boy shudder. The coercion seemed to get stronger with every passing second. Naruto quickly turned away from his window and closed the curtains. He ran to the other end of the room and switched on his lights. Naruto dropped to his knees and crawled toward his bed.

"Do not disobey me, come to me!" The voice seemed to wrap itself around Naruto. The boy found himself panting for breath as the voice spoke again, "come to me." Naruto's hands flew to his throat when the tightening around his entire being became too much to handle. The words resounded in his head,-"come to me"-with each gasp for breath. Soon the grip around him fled and the boy was able to breathe once more. He shuttered when the voice gave one last warning, "come to me."

SAUNARU

What was he doing? Was he insane? Naruto shook his head at his stupidity. Of course he would be the one to listen to the voices in his head. His footsteps were slow and calculated as he walked down the empty street. For some strange reason he felt at ease even though it was very dangerous to be walking around in the middle of the night. The moon seemed to be flooding his body with rays of calm and warm moon light. Naruto inhaled deeply, the cool night air sent pleasurable chills down his spine. Why hadn't he noticed how beautiful everything was during the night? A loud crunch caught Naruto's attention. The boy turned around quickly, the calm from before rapidly disappearing. Naruto looked around frantically, when he noticed no one was there, he continued down the street. Each step that he took was faster than the next. A sickening feeling crept up on him (something like that). Naruto gulped loudly before running down the street. He had to get home and fast.

"Don't run from him." That damned voice from before was tormenting him again! Who the hell was this "him" the voice was referring to?

Naruto disregarded the voice and raced down the empty streets.

"Why must you disobey me?" Naruto ignored the hurt in the voice and continued to run away from his invisible pursuer. "Why must you disobey me?" The voice kept whispering the same phrase into his ears, it was driving Naruto mad.

"Just shut up," Naruto yelled in a voice filled with fear. Why wouldn't this voice just leave him alone? If anyone saw him, they would think he was crazy. The blond stumbled over something that wasn't there and rolled a few feet before unsteadily getting to his feet. Naruto groaned as he felt blood dripping down his neck. He ignored his wounds and began to run once again.

"You can't run from him," the tone of the voice had changed dramatically; malice dripped from every word that was uttered. "I told you to shut up," he said through clenched teeth. Naruto was beginning to loathe the voice.

"I have warned you, now you must face the consequences. I cannot save you from his wrath. Forgive me, my precious child."

Naruto skidded to a halt; his mind was completely blank for a span of a few seconds. Soon the boy was repeating the last words uttered by the voice over and over in his head. Suddenly a wave of fear washed over his body and he began to shake. He could sense a strong presence behind him. Naruto was far too frightened to turn around so he began to run once more.

"You can't run nor can you hide from me," the voice reeked of masculinity. Naruto let out a horse cry as he ran through the streets. His hands quickly flew to his throat, what was happening to his voice? How could he scream for help, if his voice was slowly fading? He could feel the presence of the man right behind him and it terrified the boy. Naruto knew that sooner or later he would have to turn around to see who his pursuer was. If he didn't turn around then he couldn't report the man to the police. Naruto took in a shaky breath before turning around. Naruto's eyes widened in fright, no one was behind him! Was his mind simply playing tricks on him? If his mind was playing tricks on him, why did the voices sound so real? Naruto knew he could no longer trust his mind any longer. Even though Naruto couldn't see the being before him, he could feel the menacing presence of the man.

"Don't run, you won't get far," his voice was on edge and gave an air of seriousness. Naruto blinked and rubbed his eyes. He then realized that he had stopped running. Naruto looked down the street and become conscious of the fact that his apartment building was just a block away. His safe haven was so close. Naruto threw caution to the wind and ran down the block. He could feel the presence trying to push him back; he wanted to prevent him from reaching his goal. Soon the presence began to circle Naruto, trying to cut off his air supply.

"I will come for you tonight. Run, I enjoy the chase."

Naruto fell to his knees, tears flowing freely from his eyes. He could feel the being beside him. Naruto shuttered when a cold breath blew into his ear.

"Are you afraid of the big bad wolf?"
