Before the Dawn
Before The Dawn.
"Home sweet home, Matsuo." the blonde called as he walked into the newly purchased house with a couple of boxes wrapped inside his arms. He had been eyeing this place for a while now, and now that he and Kiba had enough money to buy it, it was a dream home.
Naruto put the boxes down and proceeded to chase his daughter down, tickling her until she laughed uncontrollably. Matsuo was a young girl with dark brown locks and deep blue eyes that resembled Naruto's. Sakura, his best friend, was kind enough to bore her for them.
Him and Kiba Inuzuka, that is. They had been together since high school and when Kiba asked him to marry him, he was more than delighted. After the wedding he started a photography business and it ended up being a big hit. Which was how he ended up with a lot of money to pay for his home today.
It took a lot of hard work and some extra jobs, but he enjoyed what he did and loved making people happy. The blonde smiled as he kissed his daughter and Kiba walked into the home. "This place is a dump..." Kiba said as he looked around.
"Oh, c'mon, Kiba! It's great. Once we fix it up, it'll be good as new." He said and beamed as he began to unpack his things.
"Matsuo, go unpack your toys while mommy and me have a talk, okay?" Kiba asked and the young four year old scampered off to her new bedroom to put her toys away.
"Okay, daddy!"
"So, what's up? Did you meet anyone interesting in town today?" Naruto asked as he began to put the dishes away, one by one placing them in the cabnit.
"Yeah, um. I met Ino at the Flower Shop today and she told me an interesting story about this place." He explained, grabbing Naruto's attention right away; he knew where Kiba was going with this. He had heard the stories, but he didn't care; he loved this house and he wasn't going anywhere.
"What about it?" He asked, picking up yet another set of dishes to put away.
Kiba sighed. "She told me that a family was murdered here, and the youngest child committed suicide in our daughter's bedroom!" He shouted, narrowing his eyes as he crossed his arms over his chest.
"So what? That happened a long time ago! Besides, Kiba. Have a sense of adventure! What if the house really is haunted by Sasuke's spirit? Don't you want to find out?" he asked with a mischevious expression on his face.
"No, I don't. You know how I feel about that stuff, Naruto. I don't believe in it, and now I'm never going to hear the end of it from your stupid friends." He said as he began to help his blonde unpacking their things and putting them away in the appropriate places.
"Just get used to it. Trust me, I'm sure this place will feel like home in no time!" Naruto said with a large, fox-like smile and laughed at Kiba's serious accusation that this house could be haunted by the spirits of the undead.
The movers weren't going to be at the home until the next day so Naruto and Kiba slept on their mattress in the bedroom together that night. Upon falling asleep, Naruto woke up around three in the morning to the sound of footsteps in the hallway.
"K-Kiba?" he asked, poking around for Kiba's body on the bed. He felt Kiba, so it wasn't him.
He sat up quickly and his eyes widened as he looked over at the door to see an illusive figure walking across the hallway and into the bathroom. "HEY!" he said as he ran into the bathroom to go after it.
It was a young boy with short raven hair, spiky in the back with short in the front with eyes black as the night sky. He wore a pair of jeans and a white tee-shirt and he could see him floating into the wall. Naruto's eyes widened when he walked into the bathroom and saw nothing there.
There was no one. Not a soul. Not Matsuo and not Kiba. He had just seen the ghost of Uchiha Sasuke. What had happened here thirty years prior to their moving in? He would have to get to the bottom of this. He couldn't be up everynight being woken up by some restless spirit.
He did have a job to do in the morning, after all. Sighing, he put the thought of the ghost figure he had seen in the hallway and went back to bed. He would worry about that in the morning. He didn't know what to think about what he had seen or if he had even seen anything at all. The raven looked so sad and yet so peaceful at the same time.
Naruto almost didn't want to bother him. He sighed as he got ready for work and kissed Kiba on the forehead before leaving for work. "I'm leaving," he said as he left the home. He would be back before the afternoon and Kiba would be at work at the police station and Matsuo would be in school.
The house was empty during the day and Naruto returned later that day to put his new photos on the computer. He sat down at the desk and loaded his camera onto the screen, pushing the appropriate links to get his pictures organized and printed out on the copy machine.
That was when something happened. Out of the corner of his eyes he could see the lightbulb flicker in the lamp that stood beside the door in the computer room. His eyes narrowed. It must have been a faulty circut or something, but then it happened again. He then decided to speak up.
"Sasuke, is that you?" he asked, knowing his name from a few newspaper clippings he had seen on his grandfather's desk about the young teen's suicide. He had read that the child had overdosed on pain medication in the parent's bathroom.
Getting up from his chair he decided to walk into the bathroom and flick the lights on. He looked around and tried to think about what Sasuke might have been feeling when he was overdosing on the drugs after his parents' murder. He probably wanted to be with them so badly that he killed himself at the young age of fifteen.
At least, that was what the news reporter said in the paper. Suddenly, Naruto felt a cold chill on his neck, and when he turned around a pale figure stood before him, staring with cold, dead, obsidian eyes.
