A cute start, definately. Though I wonder why the Sand didn't send out anyone after Gaara---for appearances sake, mind you. I'm sure that they were probably pleased to see him gone and none too eager to send out shinobi on suicide missions to bring him back, but I would have still suspected some form of disapproval from the Kazakage. Maybe you could mention it somewhere to help the Gaara-needs-to-hide plot along?
I really like the last bit in this chapter with the photots. Grade A funny, very good with the mellow-saddness that you used through most of it. Though I wonder, is Lee really dating Sakura? Or is he just obsessed enough to write the little love-message himself on her picture? He could have paid Naruto to use a henge. ^_^ Though, I would like to see Gaara lure Lee away, to tell you the truth.
