I actually read this aloud, and wow, it is a powerful piece of prose (being someone who competed nationally in collegiate forensics, I rarely find pieces which are as powerful as this). Great bit of writing, but then again, I always have loved your fics. Brilliant authoress you are, toffee, absolutely brilliant!

x_x;; Urgh, that totally squicked me. I must go take a shower now. I say this begrudgingly: it's because you did a superb job of letting the reader into sasuke's head, and it was stomach roiling to witness the rationalization of a terrible choice. It was like watching a bad horror movie, or--worse yet--watching a good horror movie. You know what's going to happen you scream at the screen: "Stop! Don't go there!" and yet the character is drawn drawn drawn deeper into that dark realm where the bogeyman lies awaiting. And the result? Your too caught up in the gross horror to adopt a smug 'I told you so' attitude. Instead you're left feeling emptied of all emotions save disappointment.
Sasuke. You were supposed to be a genius. How could you?

Ugh. (I actually said this aloud). I love reading fics that make me feel something, even when the feeling is not such a good one. That said... just... ugh. I want to read it again and really examine why I think this fic is so friggin' excellent, but for now, I'm going to close this page and read something else... preferably much much lighter.
Before I go, I think questofdreams has already talked to you about this, but: I (really x 5) like to collect talented people. I would love to capture you and stick you in a glass case and watch you breed more works with those monsters of your imagination. I would feed you and I wouldn't tap on the glass no matter how tempting would be. *smile*
