The thin line between love and hate
A/N: Hello and welcome to my new fan fiction. I'm kind of new into the Naruto fan fiction world so I hope to make this enjoyable and worth posting. From the pairings made in the Naruto fiction universe, my favorite is Sasuke x Hinata; they're the best. But this time Hinata will mostly be out of character. I'll show a Hinata that is grown up and has been changed by a certain Uchiha boy.
I'm not well informed about the jutsus or techniques, I only know the Sharingan and the Byakugan for obvious reasons, the rest of any jutsus that appear here, I have made up myself without knowing if it exists in the manga or in the anime.
I don't own Naruto, in case you didn't notice.

Chapter One
Unexpected Rival
Endless darkness, the sounds of flying kunais everywhere. The screams, the pleas, everything that sounds similar to desperation. A team of Konoha’s ANBU running to the light, not knowing what they will see in the end.
“I don't care what you said Orochimaru, Sasuke will come back to Konoha!” Naruto screamed while trying to take down his teammate.
Yes, as sad as it sounds, as empty as that may be, it was still heard by the rest of the ninjas in the room. It was still the common feeling of the remaining Team 7. Sakura watched the scene in shock, Naruto had been fighting for a long time, and he hadn't been capable of laying a finger on the Uchiha prodigy.
“And what makes you believe that I want to come back?” asked the main topic himself, with a cold glare that could only be compared to his brother's.
Naruto had seen that face before…it was the face of the reason for all this suffering, for these three years that caused a major bridge between him and his ex-rival; now best friend.
Orochimaru leaned against a wall, watching quite pleased that Sasuke wasn't willing to give up, that his thirst for revenge was above everything, even his own life. This vessel will be the ultimate body, I crave this power and body more than ever, I can't wait.
While the fight kept going at its high peak, the rest of Konoha’s teammates were just watching, respecting Naruto’s wish to make this on his own. And he meant his own, no Nine-tails in the way, no Kakashi, no Sakura’s tears. If he wants so much to prevent this soul from drowning in hell, it must be this way.
Suddenly, with a final blow, Sasuke sent Naruto to the nearest wall; this time he couldn't get up. He was now facing down, unwilling to move.
“I just had to hit the right spots on your spine to make you numb from the waist to your toes.”
Damn it! That was all that crossed Naruto's mind when the sound of Sasuke’s sword echoed in the whole room.
“You should have never come to try to fix the bonds that are already broken.”
But then Sasuke found he couldn't move. When he was finally able to move his face to the other side of the room, he noticed it. Four ninjas with rare animal masks were at the huge double doors of the fighting room.
In that moment, an injured Kakashi watched the scene in surprise.
“Is that an ANBU team, but how…?”
Just then, one of the ANBU members, with a mask that was different from the others', stepped into the fighting field and stood in defense mode. The rest of the team was about to follow when his right hand moved in the air to stop them. The team nodded in agreement and stepped aside from the rest.
Kakashi looked at them in confusion, Why aren't they together in the fight?
In that moment one of the ANBU noticed the presence of Sakura, and in a fast move, took her and brought her back to a safe place with the others. It took her time to realize that she wasn't in the same place anymore, and proceeded to check her captain's injuries, while looking at what was happening in the battlefield. Naruto looked at the masked ninja with surprise, but his eyes widened when he saw that this ninja had also caught Sasuke’s attention. He had even put his sword back and changed into an offensive pose.
“That is an ANBU captain,” Gai immediately mentioned. “The mask in the form of a cat means that it is a hunter, but the red marks all over it describe it as a captain... a strong one.”
Then Kakashi looked at the scene in acknowledgement, “It's true, but that doesn't mean that he can beat Sasuke, he’s gotten too strong and…”
But his statement drifted off when both ninjas attacked. Suddenly Sasuke pulled out a kunai at the same time as the captain. Now all that could be seen or heard were sudden moves and the sound of blades colliding like thunder. After some blows, they stepped away to a safe distance; breathing lightly as if the fight had been nothing. In that moment, the ANBU captain made a sign and one of his teammates took Naruto and stepped back into the safe area.
Sakura ran desperately to heal her beloved friend. But Naruto couldn't take his eyes off the two warriors, who were fighting in a non-stop battle, matching almost equally in their blows. But something that Naruto noticed made the situation even stranger….
…Sasuke had deactivated the Sharingan and even with the match almost equal, he didn't activated again.
This was also noticed by Orochimaru, from his safe corner. What are you doing, Sasuke-kun? But then his eyes relaxed and he grinned. Ku ku ku, I see. Sasuke-kun has found a decent match and has decided to make it last, but right now we can't be here wasting time and chakra, we must move before he--
His thoughts were stopped when something hit him from behind with a huge force. He immediately looked back and was surprised to see the ANBU captain fighting him. Orochimaru turned towards Sasuke and saw that he was still fighting the captain as well!
Sasuke was getting tired; this captain must be really strong to hold on like this. But he decided that this must end now, he didn't have the time to play. In that moment he activated the Sharingan and in a fast move, rivaling Rock Lee’s speed, he appeared behind the captain and sent a kick, only for it to be returned by the captain with the same force. Sasuke stepped back and immediately, almost automatically, looked to where Orochimaru was.
It must be a damn good clone, he smirked. He was going to have fun after all. But when he was about to pop it, the ‘clone’ went with a fire jutsu, and made it out in time.
In that moment, everyone looked to where the fire came from, even Sasuke in order to see what had happened. Orochimaru stepped back in awe, not understanding how this ‘clone’ was capable of making a jutsu while the other was fighting in a very different way. In a fast move, he invoked a snake from his arms with an unexpected attack, but the captain was able to avoid it and cut the snakes with a chakra cord.
“That technique…” muttered Neji in obvious surprise.
“What is it Neji?” asked a worried Lee.
“That is obviously a Hyuuga move, but how? There’s no Hyuuga member in ANBU, even less a captain…”
Hearing this and noticing that his enemy was a little distracted by the clones' work, Sasuke pounced on the captain's face, cracking the mask and making it break. The clone’s mask was also breaking, making it weirder than it should have been. Slowly, the pieces of the mask started to fall down, and when everyone saw the face of the captain, gasps were heard all over the place.
Naruto and Neji were the most shocked. They couldn't believe who it was! Sasuke just stood there, unable to speak, his Sharingan deactivated just so he could take a better look.
“You…you are…”
But before he could answer, one of the ANBU team did it for him.
“Yes, this is our captain. She is Captain Hyuuga Hinata to you. The strongest woman of the ANBU force.”
A/N: Ok…how was it? I don't like to write or describe fighting scenes, to be more specific, I try to avoid them as much as I can. So don't hope to see long fighting scenes because it tires me a lot. But when it comes to corpses, how his/her head flew in the air and all, well…I can write that.
I would like to receive some feedback from this one. Since looks like I'm better with the horror ones (my best reviewed is “A living nightmare” a DBZ horror short-fic).
