Snow-white dishonour.
A/N. I’m in a desperate need of a BETA for this!!! ^^; Anyway, this is will be a Kakashi/Shikamaru fic, with Genma/Neji as a side pair and a few others further on. And also a lot of friendship between Shikamaru, Neji, Gaara and Kakashi, Genma. It’s sort of AU’ish and takes place during the time skip, ignoring the fillers…. This is slightly edited and moved from shouta. Thanks to the people that read it there, I’m sorry for moving n taking it down from there, but I need to re-work a few things… =(
Summary: “Are the sins of our names really ours to carry? Tell me Genma… To whom does it matter what I choose?” “It matters to Shikamaru Kakashi, and to me.”
Warnings: Yaoi, shouta (sort of, you’ll understand after the first chap what I mean), Lemons and language… And probably a lot more that I don’t think of at the moment.
Disclaimer. Nope, me own NOTHING of Naruto

----------------------
Kakashi jumped over the roof tops, searching for the chuunin he needed for this mission. Inwardly he was cursing, he had managed to stay away from the northern water country for so long and now he was ordered there with just one other Konoha ninja. What gave even more concern was the mission itself… Simply transporting some scrolls… Yes, indeed this was a “troublesome” mission… Speaking of troublesome… He jumped down from the roof and landed softly beside the still form lying on the grass on a backyard of an empty house. For a second he just stood there, glancing down at the brown-haired boy who laid there with his arms crossed under his head. But as the boy opened his eyes all he saw was the usual lazy smile that Kakashi was known for.
“Kakashi-san…” He yawned and stretched, unknowingly turning the older man’s attention to his pale abs that was seen as his shirt slide up. He sat up and grabbed the chuunin vest that he had discarded earlier and pulled it on.
“Shikamaru, Tsunade-sama has requested that we should go on a mission to the water country. We’re leaving in the morning.” He handed Shikamaru the scroll that contained the explanation of the mission. “Should be no problem, ne?” He smiled as the boy had read the scroll.
“Hn. Well, it’s troublesome, but I guess that I have to go.” In reality Shikamaru was glad of a mission that would bring him that far away from Konoha. He would never show it, but the looks he was getting was dragging him down. He had done his best, but he guessed that the mission had been over his ability to succeed with… He disguised his curiosity with a lazy glance at the grey-haired copy ninja. Why had she chosen to team the two of them up? Kakashi smiled back at him and scratched the back of his head before turning to leave again.
“We’ll meet at the front gate at six tomorrow morning.”
“Six normal time, or your time?” Shikamaru smirked at Kakashi’s back.
“Normal time… Even if I think that this mission should be a post business and not a ninja mission, there is something about it that troubles me…” He turned his head to look at Shikamaru again. “She didn’t team us up, I chose you to go with me.” With that he was gone, leaving a very confused genius behind.
Shikamaru stood up slowly and stretched again. He didn’t like not knowing what was going on… He started to walk, soon leaving the village behind him and headed for the forest that surrounded Konoha. Silence and peace was what he needed to try to figure this out. Kakashi was right about that there was something strange about this mission, but what really bothered the thirteen year old was WHY? Why had Kakashi chosen him? He knew for a fact that several of the older chuunins were home and without missions, so was several jounins, like for example Genma, so why had Kakashi-san chosen him when his last mission had been such a failure? Two of his friends had almost died, and they had all been injured, and even so they had failed to bring back Sasuke… He glared at the forest floor as he put his hands in his pockets and kept walking.
His attention was drawn to the green west that he had accepted with pride only a few weeks ago. Now it only caused him pain, even though he was still a part of team 10, he wasn’t really a member anymore. It was as if an invisible wall had been placed between him and all of his old friends, even with Choji.
After they had failed to retrieve Sasuke he had seriously thought about giving up being a ninja, even after his fathers “pep-talk”. The only thing that had stopped him was his new found friendship with the only two that seemed to actually understand his pain. Only a month ago he would have laughed if someone would have told him that he would become best friends with Gaara and Neji. But now it was a fact. But Gaara had left with his siblings yesterday and Neji had gone for a mission a week ago and would be home any day, but no one really knew when. Shikamaru frowned and decided to head for the cemetery. He kneeled down at the small white headstone, a grave that he hadn’t even known existed until a week ago, and sighed.
Kakashi landed quietly before the memorial stone and stayed in a crouched position for a while, keeping his head bowed in respect and shame. Finally he stood up and glanced at the sky.
“How come you Uchiha’s are so good at causing pain Obito? When you died the village mourned, then the massacre and now that Sasuke has left every one are hurting in one way or the other again.” He sighed and looked at the stone. Memories burning his soul, if he only had realised sooner… It seemed that being to late was the curse of his life. “I won’t be late this time Obito, I’ll save him from his darkness. I’ll just have to figure out how…” He murmured and his thoughts wandered to the brown haired boy. He saw the pain Shikamaru was in, maybe few others did. But then few had lost friends on their first mission as a leader. Even if Shikamaru refused to admit it out loud, he knew that he had looked up to Sasuke, thought of him as a worthy ninja of Konoha, and now he was one of the few that understood the full betrayal of Sasuke. In fact, Kakashi had a feeling that the only other Konoha ninja in the same age that did was Neji. He had seen the two of them form a friendship with each other and with Gaara over the last weeks. A companionship forged in pain. Not unlike the one he shared with Genma, the one where no questions were need and no explanations given. He heard a soft thud behind himself and smirked.
“Doing mind reading now Genma-kun?”
“Only on you Kakashi-chan.”
“I hate when you call me chan.” He turned to glare at the other who simply smirked back at him and twirled his stick.
“Why do you think I say it?”
Kakashi chuckled and shook his head, no one was as good at cheering him up as Genma. He flopped down on the grass and crossed his legs as he watched the other man sit down beside him.
“I heard that you’re going to the water country…”
“Yeah…”
“The north…”
“Yeah…”
“So..?”
Kakashi sighed and shrugged.
“What is there to say? I finally have to go there, I knew I would eventually, but…”
“But it still hurts?”
“You know, it does. Maybe it wouldn’t be so bad if I knew what happened… At least what happened to them…”
“Have you ever told any one but me?”
“No… What good would it do now? They must be… like 19 now, if they’re alive that is, which I doubt.”
“Why didn’t you ever tell anyone?”
Kakashi sighed and looked up at the sky again. “What was I to say?” He closed his eye and took a deep breath. “I’m bringing Shikamaru by the way.” He opened his eye again to look at Genma who raised an eyebrow at him.
“The lazy rookie that was the only one appointed chonin this time?” As Kakashi nodded he smirked.” From what I’ve heard he’s more level headed than most of the Nara clan… And he’s cute.”
Kakashi almost choked on air it self and Genma started laughing hard.
“Genma!! He’s a kid! Just thirteen for heavens sake!”
“But perfectly legal now according to Konoha laws. And even though his cute at the moment I’m pretty sure that he’ll be hot as hell in a couple of years, so you better claim him now, before everyone wants him.”
“Genma, you know that the law about a ninja coming of age once he or she is a chonin is never used anymore. You just use it because you like pretty little boys…. Man, if I were to tell people who the real pervert is in this village, they’d die of shock. YOU would be the one trying to claim him, not me.”
“Nah, I’ve already found myself a little koi… And I think I’m going to keep this one.”
“Oh? And who might this magical boy be then?” Kakashi smiled at Genma. He had waited for the day that the crazy Jounin actually would fall in love, and it wasn’t a day to soon.
“That’s the problem I’m afraid…” Genma glanced around and when he was sure that they were alone he discarded the stick from his mouth and lit a cigarette instead. He had a strange form of moral…
“Out with it Genma, I’m going tomorrow, I don’t have time to play games.”
Genma turned his eyes back at him and suddenly Kakashi understood that this was serious.
“I fell in love Kakashi. DAMN! I wasn’t supposed to do that!! And absolutely not with him… I’m so dead Kakashi… He’s not even legal yet.”
“What?!? Have you gone out of your mind!?! Are you going after academy kids now?”
“No Kakashi, and you don’t have to scream at me, I’m doing that pretty good on my own. He didn’t get through the exam, that’s it. But I guess that he’s clan is an even greater problem… But Kami! I’m not giving him up, not as long as he wants me too.”
“You’ve really fallen for this kid… I always thought that you went for the little boy’s cause that kept your heart safe from falling in love.”
“I don’t know why I have, I just know that if that was my plan, I failed completely…”
Kakashi slung an arm over Genma’s shoulder and Genma sighed and leaned on him.
“What have you gotten yourself into Genma… So who is he? I want to know what clan I have to fight to keep you alive…”
“If it comes to that, you won’t fight because I’ll be dead long before you get the chance. Kakashi, I’m involved with Hyuuga Neji…”
“Kami!!!”
“You could say that again. I didn’t even plan for going after him, one he’s not a chuunin yet and two he’s a bloody Hyuuga. But he came to me, after the exam, when everything had calmed down, he came to ask me if I really believed that the cage bird could pick the lock… And we talked, just talked. He started coming by my place a lot, and then, when I heard he’d been injured, that they weren’t sure if he’d make it… My heart stopped and I realised that I was the cadged bird now. I didn’t see him for a long time after that, I did everything I could to stay away from him. But once again he came to me, before they left last week… And… What am I to do Kakashi?”
“I take it as he’s in love with you too… I doubt that he would have let you take him if he wasn’t. And rape isn’t your thing.”
“He says he’s in love with me, but we haven’t had sex yet. Don’t look so bloody shocked, I just told you I want to keep him, so I won’t ruin it with rushing him. He’s coming back tonight Kakashi… What if he’s changed his mind?”
Kakashi couldn’t help but stare at his friend. He just realised that Genma really never had been in love before and was terrified.
“I don’t think he has. The Neji I’ve seen does nothing without careful consideration. He wouldn’t have come to you if he wasn’t sure. But Genma, if you want this, get him through the exam! Help him in all way you can, but don’t judge his next match. You know that I don’t agree with that law, but it’s there so I guess we have to use it. I doubt that the Hyuuga’s will be very happy so at least make sure that you have the law on your side…” He looked up at the sky with a sigh and realised that it was later than he thought it was. “I have to get home and get ready, but I want to continue this when I get back.”
Genma nodded and stretched out on the grass instead and put the last of his smoke out, instantly replacing it with the stick.
“Kakashi, I’m glad that you’re on our side… But I want you to remember one thing when you go on this mission, especially since your going to were your going. Shikamaru is no kid any more. You must trust him in some level, maybe even more than me. Otherwise you wouldn’t bring him. You would trust your life to him in battle but not bed him? You’re the hypocrite, not me. Why did you choose him, can you give me the honest answer?”
Kakashi looked down on the ground, his shoulders slumped.
“I’m not really sure… Many reasons I guess… He’s strong and smart… And he’s lonely, like we were when we were that age. He’s not one of his friends anymore since they are still Genin’s and can not comprehend the responsibility that has been placed on his shoulders… He’s drowning in darkness, yet no one seems to see it…”

I have to go now too… Kakashi, I’m not saying that you SHOULD get involved with Shikamaru, I’m just saying that you have to see him for what he is, not what everyone thinks he should be.” Genma stood up and pulled Kakashi with him. “Be safe, and return soon. I’ll miss you.” He gave Kakashi a short hard hug before disappearing into the threes, leaving a very confused copy-ninja behind.
“Damn you Genma! You just had to mess my head up even more… “He mumbled to himself before setting of home himself.
