The Tournament Begins
Standing before the crowd of on lookers, Sakura can hardly believe that is already been one year since the last Chunin Exams were held. Now looking around at the faces of the other eleven Genin beside her she realizes that they are just as nervous as she is. Well all except for one, whose face is covered by a mask like Kakashi-sensei’s.
Standing beside her temporary teammates she realizes that while the other three teams are
also from Konoha she only knows two of them. All she knows about the mysterious Team Hiroku is that it is the mysterious masked Genin’s team.
As the tournament begins the masked stranger remains on the field with Kiba and Akamaru since theirs is the first match-up.
The masked stranger is completely covered from head to toe by an all black uniform. His head is covered by the bandana of his forehead protector and his eyes by a pair of dark sunglasses like Shino. His hands are gloved like Kakashi's, with the same metal plate. With a kunai holster on each leg, a shuriken pouch on each hip and two more pouches behind his back the young man appears to be a formidable a shinobi.
==============================
Once the others reach the combatant waiting area they look down to watch the fight. Sakura notices that the other members of Team Hiroku are a pair of kunoichi, one with a mane of flowing bluish black hair and sapphire blue eyes while the other’s short spiky dark green hair matches her emerald green eyes.
As the match begins Kiba and Akamaru perform their Beast-Human Jutsu before launching into their Double Wolf Fang Attack. Their opponent quickly throws a smoke bomb in their path before vanishing from sight.
“Dumb-ass mutts,” The man’s dark haired teammate says. “Like a frontal attack has any hope of working.” She snorts. “He’s stupider then that blonde loudmouth that left with that perverted Sannin.”
“You forget your place Sapphire,” her green haired companion warns. “Do not embarrass Raven-sama further.”
“Come on Jade,” Sapphire nearly whines. “You can’t tell me you weren’t thinking the same thing.”
“I agree that a frontal assault is pointless against Raven-sama,” Jade concedes. “However,” she continues. “It’s rude to insult Raven-sama’s intended’s friends in her presence.”
Sapphire nods in shame. “Aye, you’re right.” She turns to face Hinata as she bows. “I apologize for my lapse in judgment Hinata-sama. As my sister has pointed out my comments were inappropriate and uncalled for.”
Hinata only nods as a faint blush begins to spread across her face as she accepts the other kunoichi’s apology. The formality with which they speak as well as the mention of her arranged marriage to Raven embarrasses her, especially with the others standing around listening to their every word.
“Hold up,” Ino nearly yells as the full meaning of the conversation hits her. “Hinata’s engaged to the guy fighting Kiba?”
“Yes,” Neji answers as he continues to watch the match below. “Their marriage was arranged when Hinata-san was born.” He follows the action on the field as Raven throws a shuriken at one of the twin Kibas. With a quick seal from Raven’s right hand the single shuriken multiplies as five of the star shaped weapon hits their intended target.
==============================
“Akamaru,” Kiba shouts as his partner falls to the ground bleeding from his injuries. Rushing to the dogs side he watches as four of the five shuriken poof away leaving the original weapon still embedded in his dog’s side. “You bastard,” he snarls as he rests Akamaru’s head in his lap. “I’ll kill you for this.”
“Do that and your partner will also perish,” the masked man warns him. “Withdraw now and see to his injuries,” Raven advises Kiba. “There is no point in continuing when you no longer posses the advantage. Especially not if it means sacrificing your partner’s life in the process.”
Kiba growls as he looks to the proctor. “We withdraw,” the dog-nin tells the man.
