AN: This is short. I know it. But, what do you expect from me with this first foray? It is a sort of work in progress, but so far, this is all the Muse gave me. And it's a pairing I haven't seen anough of so, if you get inspired write something! Thanks! Taa! Oh and for those who can't figure out the pairing for whatever reason, it's Shino x Shikamaru.

I know that I left abruptly last night. I had to. I know that what I feel for you transcends everything and anything I have ever felt for anyone before. It frightens me and overwhelms and I fear that I may not be able to live without you, but I do not know if I can live with you either. You tear out my heart sometimes with your insensitive observations, but I know that that is just the way that your genius mind works. You don't mince words for anyone, so why should I be an exception?
I would make amends, but I'm not sure how to. I know that deep inside, my beautiful Shadow, that you are not as cold and lazy as you seem. I will return after this latest mission and perhaps, then, if you don't hate me for my abrupt and sudden departure, we can talk of this wellspring of emotion between us. I've never felt this way before. I did not know such things could be truly felt. I thought they were just fairy tales and things for women to feel and be lost in.
I have to go now, my Dearest One. I will send another message when I can. I cannot tell you where we have gone, being Anbu does have disadvantages and advantages. I miss you already. Feed the beetles.
