Chapter 11, Making Up For Lost Time



"Sasuke," Naruto said softly, his eyes still gazing into those he had missed for three years. Thousands of thoughts stormed through Naruto's head. He was in shock, he still didn't believe that Sasuke was in front of him.



"Naruto," Sasuke said back, "Don't say anything. It is I who should be doing all the explaining." Sasuke told him. "I am sorry for everything that I have done, Naruto. I couldn't control my mind after I had gotten bitten by Orochimaru. After I finally had gotten stronger, I was able to control it."



"Sasuke, you don't have to apologize to me. Just keep your promise. Never leave my side again," Naruto told him, while pulling him into a hug. He held him tightly, smelling his scent that he had missed for so long. His eyes filled with tears because he was so happy. His Sasuke was back. He would be taking him back to the Hidden Leaf Village with him. This was the happiest Naruto had been in those three years. "That day, I thought you were going to kill me." Naruto tightened his hug. "I'm not letting you go ever again, Sasuke."



"Naruto," Sasuke said, beginning to cry. "I never wanted to hurt you. I never wanted you to suffer." Sasuke embraced Naruto as well, putting his face in Naruto's chest. He began to cry. "I'm so sorry, Naruto. I can't apologize enough. I can't."



"Don't cry, Sasuke. I just should have been here to save you from Orochimaru. He took you away from me," Naruto sighed. "There was nothing I could do." Naruto regretted the day that Sasuke left. He couldn't do anything to stop him. He just wasn't strong enough.



"Naruto, there is something that I must tell you. I was given a mission to kill Orochimaru. I went willingly before my mind was completely taken over. The stronger I got, the more I could control the curse mark." Sasuke felt a giant weight lift off of him. He didn't know how Naruto would take it, but he knew that Naruto would never stop loving him. "Sasuke," Naruto said softly, looking into his eyes again. "You were sent on a mission? I thought Orochimaru wanted to take you away for his own selfish desires."



"He bit me for that reason. He did use me for his own selfish desires, but I had to deal with it, for the mission. I was assigned to kill Orochimaru. I had to do things that I wish I could have never been through. Orochimaru used me to kill other shinobi, he used me for experiments, he used me for....," Sasuke couldn't finish his sentence and began sobbing. He couldn't possibly tell Naruto that. He didn't want him to go looking for Orochimaru in a mad rage. He didn't want a fight to happen while Naruto was angry.



"Sasuke, what is it? Tell me," Naruto pleaded, looking into his crying eyes. He hated to see those eyes in pain. It made him feel bad that he saw Sasuke in this sadness that was taking over him.



"I am Orochimaru's object. He, he rapes me, Naruto," Sasuke choked out, he was sobbing so hard. "I want to kill him for everything he had done to me. I hate him, Naruto. Naruto felt everything that he had missed in those three years. It was like he was being reborn, he was finally living again.



"Do you remember that day? Our final battle?" Sasuke asked, breaking the kiss, still feeling the need to apologize to him. He could never tell Naruto how sorry he was. Never could he convey the amount of sorrow he felt in his heart.



Naruto sighed, not wanting to remember that day. That day that Sasuke left his side. "I do remember, it was raining that day." A few tears built up in his eyes. "The rain never stopped for me. It has been raining in my heart ever since the day you left. But now, the rain has stopped. It stopped the moment our eyes met. I don't know how to describe what I am feeling right now."



"You still have mixed feelings, don't you," Sasuke said. "Like whether or not you can trust me, or what my intentions are."



Naruto nodded at him, "I feel the same way. It's been so long, I don't know what is going on. All I know is that I love you, Sasuke. I love you with all my heart, Sasuke Uchiha! Believe it!" Naruto smiled at him, knowing that the smile was all that he could give Sasuke at this moment. He wanted to do everything for him, but yet he was a bit afraid to do anything for him. He was afraid to lose Sasuke again.



"I love you. There is nothing that I wouldn't do to let you know that. Every single day while I was serving Orochimaru, I longed for you. My heart longed for you. It cried out for you. I tried to get stronger, that way one day I could escape. That way I could complete my mission." Sasuke went to sit down, but then felt the instant pain that was caused by Orochimaru. He felt that pain.



Naruto saw the noticeable discomfort on Sasuke's face. "What is it, Sasuke? Are you in pain?"



"It's nothing, Naruto," Sasuke lied. He didn't want to tell Naruto about the recent incident between him and Orochimaru. It was painful enough just as it was.



"It's not nothing!" Naruto yelled, startling Sasuke. "Did Orochimaru hurt you in some way?"



Sasuke sighed. He knew he would have to tell Naruto about the rape last night. He hadn't been raped by Orochimaru in months. But, last night, it was probably the worst it had ever been. Everything that Sasuke said was true. He wanted to quit the ninja life after he returned from this mission. He never wished to follow the path of a shinobi ever again.



"I'm so glad to be with you again. There was a part of my heart that thought I would never find you again," Naruto admitted. This had all happened so fast, he had just seen Sasuke again and it seemed like everything was falling into place. Never again did he want to live without Sasuke. He was so glad to have him back. "I want you to come with me. We have to go and meet up with Neiji and TenTen soon."



"Neiji and TenTen came too?" Sasuke asked.



"They came because they knew how I cared about you. They wanted to help me find you again. They knew I would never be complete without you," Naruto explained.



"Someone else knew about us?" Sasuke asked quickly. "They didn't shun us?"



"No, Sasuke, they don't care. They are our friends. It doesn't bother them about our relationship. They knew of my feelings for you from the very beginning," Naruto confessed. They are your friends just as much as mine. They came to help me find you and I had a feeling that you would be here, in the Land Of Waves. They came here to help me kill Orochimaru."



Again tears began falling down Sasuke's face. "I didn't know that anyone else cared about me. I thought you were the only one."



"Everyone in the Leaf village cares about you! Believe it!" Naruto got to his feet. "Please come with me now." Naruto held out his hand. "If you choose to take my hand, you will let me protect you and never go running off again."



Sasuke grabbed Naruto's hand, "I will come with you. I will never leave you again."



"Remember, a promise is a promise," Naruto told him.



"I am ready to leave this life with Orochimaru and complete my mission. Then, I will return home with you, Naruto," Sasuke told him. He stood and huggled Naruto. He kissed him furiously, the way he used to do.



"Sasuke," Naruto said passionately, letting himself be pulled into the kiss. He kissed Sasuke back with all that passion that he had been containing for those three years.
