I like to watch him sleep

A/N Sorry it's been forever! That's what happens when school starts... there's no peace and quiet time for me to write! I had actually planned to end it with the last chapter with one more chapter as an epilogue. But it just... didn't end. I know how I want it to end though so I'll be getting back to it. Thank you so much for everyone who has read and encouraged me on this story. Your comments are like little jewels that are absolutely wonderful to see. Life has settled a bit so I won't wait so long to update again :)

Chapter 14 Sasuke’s POV

Sitting around the campfire, the three teammates relaxed in relative quiet after finishing their individual meals with the exception of Naruto who bounced around fidgeting as if he was wired up on too much caffeine.

“Dobe… relax,” Sasuke said, gazing at Naruto with a look of smirking amusement. ‘Maybe he’s having trouble sitting down?’ Sasuke thought, staring possessively at Naruto’s behind scooting closer to the fire.

Even though he had said those words, he was actually quite pleased that Naruto was so fidgety. Sasuke could practically see the excited anticipation radiating off his body. Night was coming and Naruto was obviously having trouble waiting to see if there was going to be a repeat of the night before.

“This is me relaxed, Teme. I’m just still hyped up from getting to go to a festival yesterday.”

“Hn… enjoyed yourself huh?” Sasuke replied, staring directly into Naruto’s eyes before slowly running his gaze over the rest of Naruto’s body.

“Y-yeah! It was… uh… really great…” Naruto stuttered out with a slight blush creeping up. Sasuke admired the color on Naruto’s face and smirked, thinking back on just how much Naruto had enjoyed himself.

“Stupid Teme…” Naruto mumbled to himself but loud enough for Sasuke to hear as he looked away from the satisfied smirk, obviously embarrassed about the heat he could feel in his cheeks.

Sasuke felt a surge of satisfaction pulse through him as he thought of the sounds and expressions Naruto had made the night before. Though it felt as if he had always wanted Naruto, the reality of actually having him was like nothing he could have imagined. Naruto hadn’t held anything back and it surprised Sasuke a bit that Naruto had allowed himself to be the submissive one without a fight. Well, not exactly submissive… responsive would be a better description. Naruto was constantly challenging everything and Sasuke had half expected him to fight over who would be topping who. But that just didn’t happen.

Glancing over at Sai, Sasuke frowned in displeasure. Though hardly much of an obstacle, Sai’s very presence was an annoying intrusion. He really did wish that Sai would just disappear. He wanted to be alone with Naruto.

They hadn’t really talked about whether or not they would tell others about their relationship. Sasuke didn’t actually care one way or the other except for the fact that he wanted to make sure that no one got any ideas about his Dobe. Sharing was not an option.

But by nature Sasuke was a very private person so he couldn’t visualize himself coming out and stating that they were now a couple. Just thinking about doing that seemed so… juvenile. Even calling themselves a couple didn’t sound quite right. The word was too shallow to describe his connection to Naruto.

Looking over at Naruto, Sasuke could feel the possessiveness that filled him whenever he thought about the Blonde. It was a feeling similar to how he had felt about being a Uchiha. A feeling that was so deeply ingrained that there was no need to deny or question its existence.

Sasuke had no intention of pretending that Naruto didn’t belong to him. Anyone interested in Naruto in that way would quickly discover that they had better take their interest elsewhere.

Tonight, however, presented a new problem. Sasuke did not want to take the first watch, leaving Naruto and Sai alone together in the tent. As a matter of fact, Sasuke would need to see about making sure that there were two tents from now on. Before his thoughts could get much past the pleasant thought of leaving Sai tied up somewhere out in the woods… Naruto solved the problem for him.

“Hey Sai… would you mind taking the last watch instead? I really don’t feel a bit tired and staying up to bother Sasuke is always a fun way to pass the time. Whadda’ you say?” Naruto asked, with a hopeful look on his face.

Sai glanced over at Sasuke, who made sure to keep his face expressionless, before looking steadily back at Naruto. “Sure… no problem. It’s not like anything is going to happen anyway.”

Sasuke snorted and almost laughed out loud. If he only he knew.

“Great! Thanks Sai.” Naruto beamed his wide smile at Sai before flicking his glance back to Sasuke. Sasuke felt a slow smile begin as his thoughts turned to how they would fill the hours before dawn. Until then… Sasuke would enjoy watching Naruto fidgeting around like a kid waiting for the candy store to open.
