'This is worse than Gai' thought Kakashi. But what could be worse than someone's eternal rival?
Iruka opens the door to Tsunade's office and blushes....
Someone's eternal crush is much worse.
Team 7 turned around as Iruka, Hinata, Lee, and Gaara came in. They had heard of the regrouping of the other teams but them.
"Ano sa ano sa, what is the sand man doing here?" Naruto asked.
"Gaara is now a part of leaf Naruto. As one of you fellow shinobi you shouldn't call him by silly names." Iruka said brightly. The month spent training went surprising well after that first week.

First Week of Training
"Ok! Today we are going to check to see how well your retrieval skills are. I have two bells. Whoever can get a bell by then end of an hour gets to be treated to dinner. The one or ones who don't get a bell are on there own!" Iruka beamed at his new students he didn't want to say lunch and have one student not eat. Missing meals was not good for ones health, and what if they got sick because of malnutrition? Iruka couldn't bear the thought of any student of his getting sick because he made them skip a meal.
Hinata looked scared.
Gaara looked bored.
and Lee...
"OH YES!! IF I GET A BELL THEN SAKURA-CHAN WILL LIKE ME!! IF I DO NOT GET A BELL I WILL DO 1000 HIGH KICKS, IF I CAN'T DO THAT THEN I WILL RUN 500 LAPS AROUND THE TRAINING AREA!"
Iruka *sweat drops* "Good attitude Lee but you really don't need to do all that. And Hinata I am sure you can get a bell if you try and believe in yourself. Gaara, um.....do your um best." 'Hmmm..that kid seems so sad sometimes, or pissed. I can't really tell.'
"Alright lets start!"
One hour later
Gaara is holding a bell.
Lee is holding a bell.
Hinata is holding a bell.
"How did this happen? I know I only had two bells! Ok, which one of you made yours with a jutsu?"
They all looked at Iruka with facial expressions that clearly said they all thought they had a real bell.
"Oh fine! Area Cancel no Jutsu!"
All three bells disappeared.
"What the-" Iruka scratches his head utterly confused now.
"Hinata told me and Gaara that when she was first made genin that she put through a test like this. And that the real purpose behind it was to test our teamwork. So while you were distracted fighting me, Hinata and Gaara stole the two bells, gave them to me and I put then in your shuriken holder." stated Lee, somewhat disapointed that he couldn't know if Sakura liked him now.
"I see. Well I guess that shows you guys are good at working together as a team, but I really did just want to test your retrieval skills. But this was better! I was worried about how you three would work together. You have showed me that you are going to be great teammates. If not friends too!"
The three genin looked at each other. 'Friends?' they all thought. 'With them?'
By the end of the week they were as close as any team but were still working on the friendship thing. Iruka decided to try something different. He thought maybe they would be closer if they could spend some quality time together. So Iruka took them to a place in the mountains just to the east of Konoha that he visited when he could. But when he took them there he placed a jutsu on the area so they couldn't find their way back to Konoha unless they went into the mountain and followed the inner caves up to the top.
Four days later
"Perhaps we should try to signal Iruka. He said he would be in the area if something happened." said Hinata. She had gotten use to Gaara and Lee so she didn't stutter. Infact she had begun to think that at times it would be nice to give Gaara a hug just to make sure he knew that there were people that cared about him. But she liked Naruto-kun, didn't she?
"I don't think we should do that. There isn't anything bad happening and if it does I will protect you! As is my duty as a shinobi of the leaf to protect my fellow shinobi!" said Lee. Lee had become to think of Hinata in a sisterly fashion and wished for her to be safe. Gaara had become much less foreboding once he knew the boy wasn't going to crush his limbs again.
"Lets find some food and go rest in a cave for the night and decided what to do in the morning."
Gaara had become somewhat the leader of the group. 'This is so strange. They are so strange. They don't treat me as a monster. And Hinata seems like she really cares about me. But maybe they are just pretending.'
Gaara turned to start toward a nearby stream when a huge centipede lunged for him. Several things happened at once:
Gaara's sand flew up just when Hinata got in front of him getting ready to preform kaiten, while Lee got infront of both of them and punched the thing in the head killing it. Hinata got thrown by the sand so her Kaiten went at an odd angle and actually hit Garra, well his armor of sand anyway. As Hinata was thrown backward her legs connected with the back of Lee's head. Hinata smacked into a tree
"Hinata! Sumimosen!! I WILL 1000 STRAIGHT KICKS FOR THIS!!!" yelled Lee as he ran to Hinata's side. When he got there Lee saw there was sand between Hinata and the tree so her blow was softened and she was not hurt. Lee gave Gaara a questioning glance that Gaara refused to meet.
A few moments later Iruka came charging in. "What happened?!?" he said looking around wildly as he seemed like he had just woken up from a nap.
Gaara glared
Lee sweat droped
Hinata asked, "Sensei, I think we have gotten the point of this exercise. May we please go back to regualr trainingnow?" Her voice was much more confidnet than ususal and hearing this change Iruka decided to give in.
"Alright, meet at training ground 7 tomorrow." Iruka said
Over the remaining time the new team began to get closer and trust each other. They even told each other things that they hadn't even told their old teams. Iruka was very pleased with their prgress but was not sure they were ready for this mission.

Back in the Hokage's office...
Naruto was skeptical about the teams but kept his mouth shut because of the glares of Kakashi, Tsunade, and Gaara all boring into him.
"You will all depart tomorrow morning at 7am. I will be there to send you off. I suggest you get a good nights rest and eat a decent dinner and breakfast. You are dissmissed."
As they were all filing out Naruto managed to make himself last and said as he went throught the door, "I will make sure to eat plenty of ramen obaa-chan!" then he made a mad dash to his favorite ramen shop as he heard:
"NAAAARRRRUUUUUTTTTOOOOO!!!"
At the ramen shop...
Naruto was wolfing down his ramen as usual when surprisingly his team decided to join him. Not much for talking under the best circumstances, and especially when eating, Sasuke began to his ramen at a normal pace and glared when anyone dare ask him a question. Sakura had never quite gotten used to ramen but as she liked to keep things in the team happy she ate her chicken ramen deciding it wasn't so bad. All three though we watching their sensei. Kakashi was just about pull down his mask when..
"KONICHIWA EXTENDED TEAM MATES!!" yelled Lee as he forced his way between Sasuke and Kakashi when Iruka forced his way between Kakashi and Sakura and Naruto. They yet again failed to see their sensei's true face for when Iruka and Lee pulled away Kakashi was done eating.
"Hello Lee, Hinata, Gaara, Iruka." said Kakashi as he waited for his team to finish, which he hoped would be soon.
Lee gazed at Sakura
Gaara glared at everyone
Hinata looked at Naruto, blushed...looked away...repeat
"Hey Kakashi, I was thinking maybe we should spend some time together going over things for the mission, you know..just us..." said Iruka as he blushed.
Kakashi mentally rolled his eyes and said, "Not now, I have somethings to take care of. Later." and with a poof he was gone, leaving his team to treat themselves but promising himself to repay them next time.
After that everyone went their own way for the night. Or they were suppose to...

Sorry for such a long gap in writing, it won't happen again. Also, its 4:18 in the morning and i have been awake since 10 am yesterady so please for give the many typos I am sure are littering this chapter. I will continually read through it and make changes as i see them but i am not an english major so if you see something feel free to point it out to me. Please read and review and i hope to have the next chapter up by tuesday!
