....... .: Chapter 1: Cabin Fever :. ..........

Rummaging through the fridge for the tenth time, an ebony haired teen sighed in frustration and slammed the door shut, knocking a few particles of dust through the air. 'This house has nothing good to eat!' Sighing, he drug his hunger ridden body back into the living room and flopped back onto the sofa, stirring even more filth.

"Sasuke, how many times are you going to do that?" a voice asked the boy from the other side of the screen door.

Glaring at the cieling, the boy folded his arms and shifted on the highly uncomfortable piece of furniture so that his back was on the floor and his legs were propped up on it.

"Untill a large, mushroom pizza magically appears accompanied by an icecold case of Green Apple Smirnoff*."

Snorting, the figure on the porch came in from the heat, closeing the wooden door behind him and takeing up refuge on the cold wooden floor besides the starveing teen. Running a hand through his red hair, he too glared at the cieling.

"Good luck with that. We've got as much a chance of Shikamaru walking through the door in the next ten minutes. . .Where the hell is he, anyway?"

Sitting upright with a huff, Sasuke began paceing. He and Gaara had showed up two hours ago after Shikamaru had called them at the apartment they shared and asked for help setting up. Since the drive over would take about four hours, Shika had said he and Ino would take the oppurtunity to hike to the local store for drinks and snacks so they could save what little gas they had, and come back and order pizzas.

There was no beer. No snacks, or pizza. And no Shika or Ino. The couple's jeep was still sitting out front, and it was growing late. Sasuke and Gaara had already found the decorations in plastic bags in the kitchen, but they thought it best to wait for Ino to come back before they set them up. They knew how picky she could be when it came to that sort of thing.

When they had arrived, knocking on the door and ringing the bell had no effect, so they opted to sneaking into one of the windows around back. The cabin was old, and it showed by it's decaying wood and creaky floors. The outside windows were framed in shutters, that banged against the house when the wind blew right. The winding gravel path that led to the house was hard to walk on and Sasuke had done a split when getting out the car earlier that left a bruise on his backside. There was a second floor complete with a bathroom, three bedrooms and carpetted floors, and the master bedroom on the first with a bathroom connected. There was a closet at the end of the hallway that was connected to the living room and a wall seperated the main part of the kitchen from the view of anyone sitting on the couch or walking in the front door. The backyard was clear, with a few trees here and there and a porch to relax on, but further back it grew into a forest too dense to see through. The place had no games, computer, telephone, barely any television channels and the air-conditioner was dying. The place was hell, through and through.

"I dunno, but he needs to get his ass home! It sucks here."

Gaara laughed at his friend's impatience, and watched him storm over to the door as the bell sounded off with it's annoying jingle. Tugging the door open, he all but exploded into a rant before realising who it was.

"It's about.....time?"

Hearing his friend go quiet all of a sudden, Gaara stood from the floor and joined Sasuke in the doorway.

"Lee?"

"If you don't mind, he is quite heavy so if you would be so kind as to open the door."

Holding the screen door open for their friend, they ushered him in, followed by a flushed Neji who both were sweating profusely. Lee set down his extra passenger on the sofa and collapsed in a nearby armchair.

"Who the hell is that?" Sasuke asked brilliantly, walking over to poke at the newcomer. He had a thin cut on his forehead, which was staining his blonde hair.

"Dunno."

Turning to Neji with a wide eyed look, Gaara began to guffaw as the brunette closed the door and sat in the armchair, setteling in Lee's lap.

"Since when did you two start picking up strangers off the street? You're not supposed to be hauling around hitch-hikers. That's dangerous, ya' know."

"He's not a stranger," Neji offered in his and Lee's defense, "he wrecked his car into the back of our car down the road and so we had to carry his ass all the way here. It seems worth it, if we get any money off him. Which by the looks of his clothes, could be a wealthy amount."

Leaning against the sofa the stranger had stolen from him, Sasuke pulled his knees to his chest in a thoughtful look. The stranger was wearing a collered shirt and khaki pants. He certainly stood out from the rest of them. They had all chosen either shorts or jeans and tanktops or short-sleeved shirts. They were wealthy as well, both Sasuke and Gaara owning their own photography studio and Neji being a teacher while Lee was a martial arts instructor. But he could tell the point Neji was trying to make.

"Why? You could have just left him there. And if you wanted to get back at him, you could have just set him down in the road and left the wolves to eat him."

"But then they wouldn't have been able to sue me."

A hot breathe in his ear sent Sasuke flopping over on his side with a frightened shriek.

"What the hell?!"

"Calm down. I was only kidding."

Laughing, Naruto sat upright on the black couch, rubbing the back of his head as he looked around and suddenly realized he had no idea where he was. Looking down at the the boy he had just scared shitless, he blinked. 'Who is he? And why have I never met him before? Kinda cute.'

"Who are you?"

Becoming angry at just how easily the stranger had scared him, and asking his name without giveing his own first, Sasuke jumped up from the floor with a scowl.

"Who am I? Who are you? I think you owe my friends an apology for almost killing them before!"

Naruto sent a wide eyed look at the people Sasuke were pointing at. A white eyed brunette and a dark haired wierdo with big eyebrows.

"Oh, so you're the guys I ran into. What the hell were you doing in the middle of the road?"

Slowly lowering his arm, Sasuke could feel a vain pop in his forehead. This guy had run into his friends, and was blameing them for it? Feeling an insult comeing on, he was quickly silenced by Gaara, who chose that moment to intervene before things got out of hand.

"Sasuke, calm down. Don't kill him before he gets a chance to pay up for damages, okay?"

Letting out a breathe he didn't know he was holding, Sasuke turned away from the boy on the sofa and sat next to Gaara on the floor, folding his arms in a pout.

"Now, please tell us who you are."

"Naruto Uzumaki. Now your turn."

"Well, I'm Gaara Sabuku, this is Neji Hyuuga and Rock Lee. And that's Sasuke Uchiha."

"Charmed, I'm sure." Sasuke added sarcastically, not even meeting the blonde's eyes who took in the lot of them. A thought occuring to him, he asked them all a question.

"You wouldn't happen to know a Shikamaru Nara, would you?"

Sasuke's head whipped around with neckbreaking speed.

"Yeah, how do you know Shika? Where is he? Didn't hit him too, did you?"

Laughing, the blonde explained how he was on his way there for the party and how he had gotten lost on the way.

"And no, I don't know where he is. I assumed he would be here, seeing as how this is his cabin and all." 'So these are the friends he was telling me about.'

Neji and Lee and just realized that fact as well. They hadn't seen the brunette or his bride since they had gotten there.

"Yeah, where is Shika anyway?"

Folding his arms again, Sasuke and Gaara had returned to their pissed mood and the black haired teen remembered he was still hungry, his stomach growling at the thought of the food his friends were supposed to be there with by now.

"He and Ino haven't gotten back from the store yet. They left before we got here, which was hours ago. Have you guys gotten any calls from him?"

A light bulb popping in their heads, Neji and Naruto remembered they had left all their stuff in their cars, which were at the foot of the mountain and still in pieces. They were probably melted together, thanks to this heat. It was a good thing Neji had stored what little food they had brought in ice-chests. It was a wonder they had survived the ordeal without dislocating or shattereing something.

"No, but I have a cell phone in my car."

"And we have some food in our's."

Sasuke's ears perked up, and he made the agreement that they would drive back to the wreckage in his car and salvage what they could. 'Finallly. Food!'

*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*

"Whoa."

"Didn't spare the trunk, did you Naruto?"

"Shut up! It was the bunny's fault."

"..."

"Nevermind. Just pull over."

Sasuke pulled the car over onto the side of the road, the others getting out and heading over to the twisted scrapheap laying on the grass in the center of two trees.
Sasuke popped the trunk open and moved his and Gaara's bag to the side as Neji loaded in the ice-chests he found laying near a pile of leaves. Atleast the animals hadn't gotten to them.

"I think Naruto needs help."

Sasuke looked over to the blonde who was trying, with no prevail, to open his door. The passenger side of the green Thunderbird was smashed into a tree, so that was out of the question. Watching the blonde bang on the door with his fists and resort to kicking, Sasuke pulled a wrench out from under the gray interior of his trunk, which had been found somewhere he no longer remembered or could name.

"What am I going to do with that?" Naruto asked, leaning on the hood of his vehicle and nursing his thumb, which he had cut when trying to pull his keys back out from the lock. The damn things were now stuck and he'd have to remove the key from the ring and leave it in. He would now need a bandage that matched the one on his forehead.

Pushing the blonde away from the car, Sasuke stood back as far as Lee's jeep would allow him. Aiming the rusted tool in his hand, he threw it unceremoniously at Naruto's window. Covering his ears from the deafening shatter of glass, Naruto glared at the teen who ignored him and reached a hand inside the broken window to open the door.

"What?" Sasuke asked, noticing the look Naruto was giving him. As if he had been the one to wreck his car. "It's not like it matters now."

'Not like it matter's now. Ne ne ne ne ne. Ass.' Naruto mocked the boy in his mind, stomping over to the door and pushing some of the stray glass away, happy to find his cellphone on the floor, though it was a few feet away from where he dropped it.

"Anything in your trunk?" Sasuke asked, waving the wrench around in his hand. "Or can you not open that either?"

"No no! I'll open it myself!"
