Temptation and Denial

A/N: I still haven’t gotten enough votes to decide on the next oneshot, so you guys get another chapter for this so I can still take some votes. So this is your last chance, if you want to see something specific, you gotta get your vote in before I post the next chapter!

A/N: Again- Ack! I'm so embarrassed, Mignonne422 caught a rather silly typo, but it's all fixed now. I feel rather like I walked over an air vent and my skirt flew up. Hehehe, except I don't wear skirts, or walk over air vents, or...ahem...anyway.

Over the Edge and Through the Wall:
Chapter Two- Temptation and Denial, Companions of the Sexually Repressed

If Gaara had been tempting to Ibiki in the way that chocolate cake was tempting to a dieting woman, then Sasuke Uchiha was tempting like a fucking cake factory. Ibiki couldn’t answer the irate young man for several seconds. He just wanted to lower his walls and let the feelings and desires he could feel pushing at his barriers crash over him and sweep him away. But he would never do that. His control was all he had left. Control of the world around him was the only thing that held him together. Ibiki was so sick of things happening to him that he had no control over, so he ruthlessly controlled everything in his life that he could now.

Ibiki could tell that the Uchiha was waiting for some sort of acknowledgement to his comment and so Ibiki mumbled, “Fine,” not at all happy with the way his voice sounded. But it couldn’t be helped now, and Sasuke didn’t seem to mind. He could tell he was losing the dark haired teen again. He could not afford to have him slipping back into insanity, he needed him to be focused and watching his own back. There was no telling where Orochimaru was now. They hadn’t heard anything for weeks.

That was plenty enough time for the man to have planned something. Sasuke could be in serious danger, and he needed the teen to recognize that. But he knew Sasuke would be way too focused on the thought of killing Orochimaru to see the danger in this situation. He needed to be proactive about this, head trouble off at the pass. “I know of an informant that might be able to help with some info about Orochimaru. I have time. Do you want to go see him now?” he asked the silent teen.

He figured if he kept the brunette with him for a while, he could redirect all of the anger and hostility he was radiating and calm him enough to function normally until they could take care of the situation. He ignored the nagging feeling in the back of his head that suggested that he wanted to keep the brunette with him for more selfish reasons. Sure Sasuke was the sexiest thing he’d seen in quite awhile, and this was coming from a man who had recently seen a threesome that included double penetration, but that didn’t mean that he had to be all hot and bothered for him.

Sasuke stared at Ibiki. He knew the man was up to something. No doubt he thought that Sasuke was on the verge of losing it, and wanted to be there to keep him in line. If it had been anyone else, Sasuke was sure that he would have been pissed beyond belief, but since he wanted so badly for the older man to keep him in line in other ways, it really only switched his attention from being split between Ibiki and Orochimaru to resting fully on Ibiki. And Sasuke didn’t have the energy to deny that he wanted to spend more time with the man.

“Whatever.” Sasuke mumbled trying to achieve his usual level of bored arrogance. He must have gotten pretty close because Ibiki looked satisfied that he wasn’t about to go off on a murderous rampage. “Get your coat.” It was such a simple phrase from Ibiki, and again, had it been anyone else the Uchiha would have been annoyed. But coming from Ibiki, it sounded dangerously close to an order and Christ, Sasuke would give his right leg to be taking certain orders from the scarred man.

He responded to both the order and the voice simultaneously. As soon as he stood up to grab his coat, the half formed erection in his pants sprung to full arousal and Sasuke desperately suppressed the moan of pleasure and frustration that wanted to bubble up his throat and spill out into the tiny office. He walked over to the door which Ibiki courteously held open for him after retrieving his leather trench coat from the rack by the wall.

The gesture was something Sasuke noticed but didn’t dwell on as the two of them moved toward the building’s exit. Ibiki walked through the parking lot and stopped next to a black Ford 500. Sasuke didn’t have time to complete his thoughts about why the car seemed so perfect for their line of work, but totally incongruous with the man driving it, before his fellow assassin was opening his door for him.

Sasuke blinked slowly before recovering his faculties and getting in the passenger’s seat. What the hell was Ibiki trying to do to him, send him into cardiac arrest right here in the parking lot? God Sasuke was starting to sound like a broken record in his own mind. For the third time he had the thought that if it had been anyone else he would have been righteously pissed, the gestures would have made him feel weak or less masculine, only women need to have their doors opened for them.

But Sasuke knew Ibiki respected his strength, and there was no way he thought of him as a woman. So the gestures came off as oddly caring, even in their simplicity. His mind easily made the jump between Ibiki holding open doors to carefully bathing and caring for Sasuke after a particularly intense bout of sex that was taking Sasuke a while to recover from. The thoughts caused a warm feeling to envelop the teen, in both a sexual and deeper, more emotional way.

Sasuke had never recognized the part of himself that needed to be cared for until now. He was usually well aware of all of his mental instabilities, he was a trained killer, and his self-denial was usually dangerous for large groups of people. But he’d never known that there was a part of him buried under the cold, calculated, arrogant asshole that craved that type of consideration.

He was usually ignored by the world around him. Little hamsters running in their wheels trying to get to the finish line before everyone else, never realizing that if they left the cage they could get a lot farther in life. But those were civilians, to be fair, they weren’t even supposed to know he existed, so he shouldn’t hold it against them that they ignore him. The world he lived in and created for himself just wasn’t all that conducive to being close to people. He knew there were other assassins like himself out there, but he’d only ever heard of four more and met only two of them.

Sasuke was feeling shaky and unstable now. He thought he knew where this thing with Ibiki was headed. The attraction he’d felt for the man when he’d first met him had grown and intensified and was now bordering on obsession. But he’d never have guessed that he would be feeling anything else for him. The fantasies in his mind were no longer short clips of sex peppered with pain, abuse and humiliation; they were longer scenes in which his loss of control and total domination was followed by loving words and praise that helped him pull himself back together. He’d never imagined that regaining his composure would mean as much to him as losing it. But as Ibiki got in and started the car, Sasuke suspected that there would be a lot about this man that he never expected, but that would become vital to him.

*****

The car stopped in front of an old abandoned building. Ibiki got out and swiftly began walking toward an alley a little farther up the road. Sasuke exited quickly to follow the man, but he followed at a much more sedate pace in order to convey his complete confidence in his ability to handle himself. He’d learned earlier in his life that things were always much easier for you if you could convince people that you could kick their ass without having to actually do so. When he finally rounded the side of the building he saw Ibiki calmly leaning against the wall waiting.

As he approached Ibiki didn’t make any move to continue, so Sasuke knew he wasn’t waiting on the teen, he must be waiting on his informant. So the brunette took his cue from the larger man and leaned his shoulder against the cracked and crumbling brickwork, being careful to appear totally relaxed and in no hurry. Several shady looking characters passed by, but after receiving Sasuke’s patented glare and getting a good look at Ibiki’s scars, they decided they had better things to do, like not getting beaten to death.

“Hey kid, you’re on the wrong street to be selling that ass!” The shout came from somewhere behind them and Sasuke was seeing red before he had even turned around. The man who’d been stupid enough to risk his life by pissing Sasuke off stood at the end of the alleyway and all the teen could make out were gold teeth, muscles bulging out of a muscle shirt, and a cocky leer. “It’s not for sale, and you better walk away right now before I decide to take offense at the assumption.”

The guy walked closer instead of farther away, obviously ignorant to the fact that he was about to have his balls fed to him by an angry Uchiha, and said, “Or what, your pimp will bitch slap me?” Sasuke just smirked arrogantly before replying, “Last chance, just walk away.” The guy laughed hysterically like the thought of Sasuke actually intimidating him was far too comedic for him to comprehend. He continued walking forward and actually reached out to touch Sasuke before the boy lost it.

The weight of the gun in his palm was a welcome sensation. It was as familiar to him as his own skin, and both he and the gun moved together fluidly as one unit, up to aim and deposit a bullet into the stupid asshole’s chest cavity. As blood flowed outward covering the remaining white fabric of the tiny shirt, the man’s mouth moved open and closed in a last attempt to make his voice heard in the world. But it was all in vain, no sound came out and the man fell to his knees.

Sasuke sneered down at him. Shouldn’t he be dead already? But no, the fucking loser was still kneeling there clutching at his chest like it was going to make a difference in the long run. The last Uchiha sighed at the unfairness of life, that he would have to kill this moron twice, as he reached down and snapped the man’s neck. He gracefully stepped out of the way and let the body fall forward, and he and Ibiki both took a few steps back to avoid the growing pool of blood.

“I guess we should take this party down the road then,” said a man from the mouth of the alley as he approached. “You could always walk us to our car.” Ibiki answered him from somewhere behind Sasuke. The man who had continued to walk forward towards them, whom Sasuke now assumed was their informant, answered indignantly, “Are you fucking crazy? I can’t be seen anywhere near your big ass! That’s liable to get me fucking shot around here.”

“Well you better tell us what we need to know quickly, before the cops ride by on patrol and pick you up next to this body, because I’m not holding this meeting anywhere else.” Ibiki snapped. There was a long-suffering sigh before the informant answered, “Fuck you man.” Ibiki smirked and retorted, “You’re not my type, not pretty enough.” The informant flicked his gaze over Sasuke then, and Sasuke wondered why it irritated the hell out of him. But the greasy looking informant said nothing before launching into the information they’d come for.

“Word is, a new boss is in town. Calls himself the snake charmer.” Sasuke only barely managed to control the urge to vomit at hearing this. It had to be Orochimaru, that’s what the man had always called himself when Sasuke was with him, and he trusted Ibiki to make sure that the info they were receiving was relevant to his needs. It had to be Orochimaru, Sasuke knew it with certainty and it settled a cold feeling of dread in the pit of his stomach. Orochimaru was here and he was sure to be looking for Sasuke.

The brunette was so wrapped up in his own internal thoughts that he almost missed it when the man continued. “He’s looking for someone to do a special job for him. But he specifically requested someone not in Hidden Village. Word is he’s got plenty of dough to cover the expense too.” Sasuke did gag then, but managed to keep his stomach contents down. The fucking bastard wasn’t even going to come after him himself, he was going to send someone else to do his dirty work.

That meant he was in danger everywhere, from anyone. He couldn’t rest easily until he and Ibiki killed Orochimaru. His brain was still spinning and trying to process the implications of what he’d been told while Ibiki handed the man some money for his services and they traded a few more insults back and forth. It took a firmly guiding hand on the small of his back to get him moving back towards the car.

A/N: Ok, another one down! Thanks to everyone who’s reviewed! One thing I just wanted to mention, if it seems like I left out a huge portion of this chapter, then I did, and it was on purpose. We will revisit events in this chapter a few times later on, and I want what happened in the car ride to not be revealed yet. Sorry this one was a little short again, but at least there was more action *dodges various flying rotten vegetables* ok, well maybe not! Anyway…much love –Vanity.
