Predictions
A/N: Thanks for the hits and reviews. I hope this chapter explains a few things and that you enjoy. I've finally decided on the pairings you'll be seeing in this story.
Chapter Two
She was dying! If she had to rush to the bathroom one more time she was going to set up permanent residence in the tiny room. Hinata placed a hand on her over-abused throat that wouldn’t stop throbbing. If she never saw ramen again it’d be too soon. There was no way in hell this could be normal, not by a long-shot. This was her punishment for being sneaky and committing a wrong towards an innocent person.
The cool breeze coming from the window only slightly helped with her flushed skin. How could vomiting so much be a regular part of pregnancy? This was what she got for wanting to keep the baby. It wasn’t in her to abort the child or to terminate it after birth.
Six months Satsu-baba had come to her one evening in a panic. The elderly woman had always been blessed with the ability to see into the future. Hadn’t the woman predicted when Naruto-kun would become the next Hokage? Hadn’t she been correct about Temari getting impregnated by Shikamaru then losing it? That event coming to pass had been sad but the two were still working on a relationship. At least they had been before Hinata had become a rogue ninja.
A quick glance into the far future had forced their hands and their actions. Hinata could remember the old lady’s words as if they’d been whispered yesterday. “A child will be born; a union between the sand and mind wielder. The first born, the sixth Kazekage, a son that will be the embodiment of evil and war will erupt. Alliances shall falter, the Kyuubi will be destroyed and chaos shall reign for decades.”
The words had left a hollow ache in her heart. Satsu-baba said she’d gotten a glimpse of the child in a dream. A young boy filled with malice, no remorse for killing and he would bring about the next war. The young male would be brought up to hate instead of love and taught to destroy instead of create. The first born child of Gaara-kun would be the downfall of Suna and Konoha, if brought into this world by Ino Yamanaka.
That was until they had deemed it necessary to interfere. Hinata hadn’t wanted to listen to the woman’s reasoning or accept the possibility of something so tragic happening. Satsu-baba had assured her that Gaara’s first born child’s fate was to be a male and destined to take his father’s place one day as Kazekage. But if born from his union with Ino then that child will be raised to oppose and hate those of Konoha. She’d always known that Ino and Sakura-chan were competitive from being childhood friends but to believe those feelings could make a drastic impact on their future was mindboggling. Naturally rivalry did often pass from parent to child. It was hard to swallow that Ino-chan would have it in herself to burden such negative feelings on an innocent child.
Placing her hand over her unsettled stomach Hinata couldn’t bring it upon herself to regret her actions. If it were true then this child should have been Ino-chan’s. She couldn’t risk that warning to come true. The Kyuubi would be destroyed, that meant Naruto-kun. Her family and all of her friends were in Konoha. They were probably all upset with her now but she’d protect them. There was still a chance that Ino and Gaara would still get together but Satsu-baba assured her it was the first born that would surpass his father and gain position as the sixth Kazekage. And that meant it was the one she now carried.
That in mind she planned to keep it, so the prediction wouldn’t come true. He would be brought up to know love, compassion, trust and mercy. Killing an innocent child was against everything she believed in so this was the only way. Besides now he was more than the Kazekage’s son, he was also hers.
“Are you getting out of bed today?” Hachi narrowed his eyes at the pasty faced female. It was times like these he was glad he wasn’t a female. True, he wouldn’t have minded sleeping with the Kazekage but this was the part he could do without. Being ill wasn’t something he looked forward to.
“No, I’m going to lay here and think of ways to give you dead ends.” She grumbled, hating the way he looked so pretty and perfect. Her hair had become matted from tossing and turning. How could one care what they looked like when their stomach felt this horrible?
“You could try,” he took a seat on the mattress making sure to disturb her in the process. “So are you regretting your decision yet? We could have just given the blond something to make sure she never had kids.”
“That is cruel and no.” There was no way she’d prevent Ino from ever having children. “What if we were wrong?”
“So what? The old hag has always been right, she’s a pain in the ass but I’ll give her that. I thought we already discussed this.” He couldn’t believe the girl was still in doubt about what had been done. “You said so yourself that she was watching the Kazekage that night. Why do you think that was? You said that both this Ino and Sakura had feelings for the same boy when they were younger. In the end neither one was able to gain his affections but Sakura prevailed. She didn’t get that guy but she got the Hokage. Instead of winning a rogue nin she is married to a man of great power and position, not to mention Naruto-kun simply adores her. That is why Ino has decided to target the Kazekage, to prove that she too can obtain the same thing as her long time rival. There is a large chance that she will still manage to gain him despite our interference.”
“But what she fails to see is that Sakura’s relationship is based on love while hers will be founded on pride. It’s the pride of a vain woman that won’t consider the outcome of her actions just to prove that she is better. Unlike the marriage of Sakura and her Hokage, it will spoil. A relationship that isn’t based on love will eventually turn sour. Feelings of lust will turn to hate, bitterness and despair. There is a chance that they will still bear children and those children will be brought up on these negative emotions. What you fail to realize is that those offspring are irrelevant because we have the next Kazekage.”
“I see,” in a way she did but it still bothered her to think that she’d done something terrible. They might be doing it for a good reason but wasn’t it unfair to Gaara-kun? She would be giving him a child that he wouldn’t know about until the child was grown. Didn’t he have a right to know? Was it fair to keep him from knowing about his first born?
“If you want to try and eat I believe the hag is cooking something.” Hachi gave her a quick pat on the knee before springing from his position. Unlike his partner he didn’t have the luxury of being lazy. Someone had to support them.
“Thanks, but I think I’ll pass.” Hinata sighed in contemplation. It didn’t matter if this was the right thing to do, it had already been done. The most she could hope for now is forgiveness.
She wondered how everyone was doing. Did they miss her? What had been there reaction to what she’d done? She could only imagine how her family had reacted to the news. Was she a wanted nin as well? Gaara-kun had changed over the years but Suna wouldn’t let the offense go. She had attacked their Kazekage in a way, although a sexual one. He couldn’t have been too happy once it was over. Would Naruto-kun let them prosecute her if she were to return?
As of yesterday, eleven weeks had passed since that night. Perhaps in a few years she’d be able to return. How long would they remember? She already missed her family and friends terribly. This was the price she’d pay for her interference.
“Hinata-chan, the food is ready.”
Hachi’s voice screamed from the other room giving way to another migraine. Hadn’t she told him that she didn’t want anything? At this rate she’d wither away to nothing from morning sickness. How much longer could it last?
“Sorry Kazekage-sama, it was another dead end.”
“Fine, you may leave.” Gaara flicked his wrist hoping the man would hurry and take his leave. Several reports sat upon his desk, all claiming to have sighted the rogue kuniochi. One claimed that the girl had been spotted in Suna just yesterday. He highly doubted that she had remained in his territory.
Wherever she had gone, she’d done a damn good job of hiding. How many more weeks would pass before they located her? Naruto had assured him that they were searching as well. Their reasons were different but as long as it had an end result.
No charges had been placed but she was wanted for questioning. He’d hear what she had to say before deciding what to do. Hours of listening to his best friend speak on the girl’s behalf he agreed. There had to be a sound reason for her to do it.
It was perturbing that she’d felt the need to drug his person to get the deed done. He couldn’t say whether or not he’d have done so in a normal situation but at least he’d have had a choice in the matter. There was also the matter of disabling him and tying him to the bed. She hadn’t asked for his consent and had taken advantage of his trust.
He wouldn’t condemn her for her actions, not when he’d done so much more in his life. When the time came that she was found it would become a personal matter not a political one. The accusations of attempted murder were absurd and he had dealt with the matter promptly. Despite how intense the sex had been he hadn’t been in danger of passing on. There was the matter of her attacking his guards and brother but they had attacked first.
The door closed softly behind the guard leaving him alone in the office. Temari would be stopping by before retiring for the evening. She was leading the search for Hinata Hyuuga. He trusted her to find the girl and assure that no harm was done.
Feeling the need for fresh air, he walked over to the open window. Night was falling outside, bringing in a cool breeze. It would be another lonely night lying in bed, his mind refusing to shut down. He was a fool not to take Matsuri up on her offer of companionship. Yet he couldn’t look at the brunette without remembering what she’d interrupted. Why had she felt the need to come sneaking into his room at that particular moment?
It was probably for the best but a part of him resented that she had. Perhaps if things hadn’t gone so wrong the girl wouldn’t have fled and he’d have had a chance to speak to her afterwards. Now all he could do was wait and wonder why he couldn’t forget.
“One more time.”
If she pushed one more time she’d surely tear herself. Hinata Hyuuga wanted to laugh at believing that Neji had taught her the meaning of pain. The arrogant male would sulk at learning that something else could do what he never could and that was make her want to give up.
She took a deep breath as the pain began anew, automatically after the last had ended. She wasn’t ready for this, it was too soon. Months of being pregnant hadn’t prepared her for bringing the child forth. She was more than ready to meet the small person that had been using her as a practice dummy for months now. It was the pain that had her wondering if she had been insane to agree to this.
“You’re doing great,” Satsu accepted the heated blanket handed to her by Hachi. Her grandson was making sure to keep his eyes avoided. She cackled at his weakness. Another few minutes and the next Kazekage would be born. She meant what she said about Hinata doing excellent. Most women would be screaming about wanting to die by now or hitting something.
No foul words left the tired girl’s throat even as the next contraction tried to push the child forward. Labor had started over twelve hours ago. If her calculations were correct the child was a week past due. Having taken it’s time it was now in a hurry to come.
“When you feel the urge, bear down.”
If she pushed any harder she’d disgrace herself. Hinata finally screamed as the next contraction made white dots appear before her eyes. With a hard push, the intense sensation of burning erupted through her core.
“That’s it, push, I can see the head.” Satsu had helped deliver more than her share of babies. But it never ceased to amaze her witnessing the child slowly entering the world. She’d always had a soft spot for the dismissed Hyuuga heir. After taking the girl to her side the affection had grown over the years. She wouldn’t have been happier if it were her own child being born.
“Is it supposed to look like that?” Hachi wrinkled his nose in disgust as the thing made a squishing sound as it exited the girl’s body. His gut twisted in denial even as the tiny thing released a pitiful wail.
“A boy,” as if she’d ever doubted. Satsu placed it gently on the awaiting cloth before severing the cord. “Don’t just stand there make sure that water is a decent temperature.”
Hinata barely heard the comments through a haze of weariness. That had been the longest battle of her life. She blinked, trying to remain awake long enough to see her son. The two she considered family were in the process of cleaning him. The pain had ebbed to a bearable throbbing sensation. Making him had been a lot more pleasant.
“Give me that, you act like you’re going to break him. You’re worse than a woman.” The old lady snatched the blanket from him in aggravation. She still had to see to the mother and then getting them both ready to rest.
“Tch, whatever you old hag.” Hachi cringed as the baba wrapped the baby up before taking it to the bed. With any luck the baby’s hair would stay that color. It had a glossy sheen of raven hair now that it was clean. The Kazekage had been cute but the hair had to go. No one liked redheads.
“He’s beautiful,” Hinata couldn’t really say who he looked like. She took the bundle eagerly, hoping to get a closer inspection. Her heart stopped as pale eyes blinked at her, a testament to her bloodline. The face was wrinkled but angelic. “I wonder who he looks like.”
“Don’t you be worrying your head over that girl because it’s too early to tell. Give him a few months and then you’ll know. He’ll lose that hair, mark my words.” Satsu took care of the afterbirth and went to work cleaning up the linens. Thankfully the laundry had been done just yesterday and they had been prepared. Removing the soiled towels required asking the mother to move a bit.
“I’m so glad I’m not a woman. Not only does it look painful but it’s messy.” Hachi scrunched up his nose as that woman had the audacity to try and hand him the soiled laundry. “Not on your life.”
“Queer,” she snapped before taking them to the basket to be washed.
Ignoring the nasty comment he focused on the peaked girl. “Have you thought of a name yet? I could help you if you want. Just don’t let the old hag name him or he’ll be shunned for life, she has horrible tastes.”
“Hm, I think I have one.” Hinata ran a finger along the smooth cheek. “I think I’ll call him Seimei.”
A/N: Thanks for reading. In case you are wondering Seimei has several meanings. Such as pure & clear, declaration, and life or existence.Which is why I thought it perfect.
