Teachings

It was a sunny day in the summer. The wind was blowing rather nicely and the rays of the sund enlightened the whole forest. But explosions along with yells had been heard in the distance and broke the tranquility of that day.

"Ouch! Dei-san it hurts too much!" a twelve-year old girl whined while caressing her leg. Deidara stared at her angry. She was so clumsy and did everything he told her wrong.

"These are barely C1's Naruki, they are not even called bombs at all, hm." he said. The girl rose her head and Deidara saw that she still had the blindfold on. "I told you before, and I'm telling you now, hm. Concentrate chakra in your legs and arms. When you'll walk closely by a clay bomb of mine, which are made of chakra, you'll sense the signal which they emit. So just try to dodge them, hm." he said.

"Ok, ok, sensei, I understand now." she sighed and turned around. Deidara watched her as she started to walk away blindly because of the cloth which was over her eyes. She didn't even make a step that she already detonated a bomb. Deidara sighed and grabbed his head with his hands thinking that he would die right then. How could she be so clumsy? She didn't even listen to his hints. He even gave her more than enough and she still didn't figure it out how to dodge the bombs. "Senseei." she whined. "Can I try something else?" she asked. Deidara sighed.

"No, you can't, hm. You'll stay here in the forest until you'll learn how to concentrate your chakra. If it's necessary you will sleep here tonight, no tent, no bed, no nothing, hm." he said. Naruki's jaw dropped down.

"EEEH?" You can't be serious sensei! " she yelled." I know it's summer, but it's cold at night. You're joking, right?" she asked alarmed.

"I'm very serious, you started this training since four days and you still didn't make any progress, hm." he said crossing his arms.

"But it's too haaaard." she whined. Deidara twitched.

"Fine, if you don't want this training then I'll ask Hidan to train you, hm." He said and a wide smirk crossed her lips as her whining face turned to shocked one. She ran straight at him and put her hands like praying.

"NO! I like this training better. Please, don't ask Hidan-sensei to train me." she begged. "I promise that I will finish it until the sun setting." she said and fell on her knees. "Pleaase!" she said.

Deidara rose an eyebrow at this melodramatic scene but she needed a lesson.

"I think that Hidan will do better, I'll go ask him right now, hm." he said and turned around. Naruki gasped and got up on her feet quickly.

"No! Wait!" she yelled exhasparated and made a sign to concentrate her chakra. "Just watch this for one more time." she said and started to run blindly around the area. Deidara stopped and a smirk crossed his lips as he watched how Naruki dodged each bomb. Minutes ago she couldn't even make step without setting a bomb and now she was running.

"She just needs pushing from behind, hm." he murmured to himself. "But she's good even if she has this clumsy faVade. She doesn't want to show her true abilities, hm." he said. "I wonder why..."

"Dei-san you saw?" Naruki asked panting hard when she finished running. She took the blindfold from her eyes and stared at him smiling. Deidara straightened and made a serious face. "It was good?"

"You can say that, hm." he said. "Try in hands now." he said and turned around grinning. Naruki stared at him exhasparated again.

"You're not going to Hidan-sensei, right?" she asked, willingly to know. Deidara stopped and made a smirk.

"Maybe, maybe not, hm." he said and walked again. Naruki twitched and rose her index finger at him.

"Sensei, you're taking advantage of the fact that you're a teacher! It's not fair!" she said pouting. Deidara chuckled and turned around to walk towards her. She watched as he approached her. He leaned forward until he reached her eye-level, winning a confused look from her and took the blindfold from her right hand. Confusion still written on her face, he wrapped the cloth over her eyes, blocking her view.

"If you want to win against him, then you should try getting stronger, hm. Don't you think?" he asked and smiled as her confused face turned to one of rage.

"You're right." she said clenching her fists. "What's the next step, sensei?" she asked. Deidara put his arms on her shoulders and turned her around.

"Concentrate chakra in your senses other than sight: smell, hear, and touch. I will move around you, try to hit me, hm." he said and walked away.

"You'll just walk around me?" she asked as Deidara made circles around her.

"And hit you, hm. Try to block the attacks or dodge. You can try to attack back also, hm." he said.

"Isn't that like... impossible?" she asked. Deidara sighed.

"Stop complaining, remember your goal, hm. If you want to get stronger you'll have to try the impossible." he said. Naruki stopped talking and stayed silent. She had to remember her true goal, she wasn't strong enough to achieve it. She had to get stronger. Complaining and whinning won't do anything good to her, these will just hold her back. She frowned. She won't allow that.

Taking a deep sigh she put her hands in a sign of concentration. Wind started to blow around her and her hair flipped.

As the blow darted off, Deidara lunged at her in order to plant a kick. He came from her right and kicked her making her lose balance. But she didn't say anything she just nodded so he would continue. Giving her a surprised look, he backed away and walked around her. Naruki shook some locks out of her face and tried to listen to anything which would give her a hint where he was.

Seeing an openening, Deidara went straight towards her, but as he was only 2 meters away, she turned around facing him. He stopped and made steps a few at his right with Naruki still facing him. He grinned and jumped on the opposite spot. He rose his hand and tried to punch her but right then she turned around and caught his punch in her left hand.

"Impressive." he smirked then rose his leg. Not expecting it, she got kicked in the stomach and had been sent a few meters away. She landed with a thud and started to cough in need for air. "You let your guard down, hm." he said. "Act like I'm an enemy, fight with all you can, hm." he said.

Naruki rose from the ground shakily and wiped the blood which escaped her lips.

"Fine." she said and frowned but took a battle stance as she sensed a change of wind.

She crouched exactly when Deidara was about to hit her in the face. She twisted and hit his legs but he didn't lose balance. She jumped on her feet and started to run towards him. Deidara watched surprised as she was coming straight at him, like she was able to see him. Series of punches and kicks had been exchanged between them with great speed. They blocked and dodged but got hit by some of them.

They used only taijutsu and Naruki felt like she was going to collapse soon because of the exhaustion. She tried to plant each hit with great speed and that was exhausting her the most. But if she wanted to defeat him, she had to use speed no matter what.

They collided for the last time. Naruki grabbed his fist and Deidara grabbed her leg. Naruki tried to get out of the grip but the other didn't allow it. Naruki panted hard, she reached her limit. Deidara noticed it and let go of her leg.

"That's all, hm " he said.

Naruki lowered her leg down and let go of his fist breathing hard. She removed the blindfold and went to a bench where a bottle of water was. She took a sit and started to drink from it. Deidara joined her too and watched as she gripped her left shoulder for a few seconds.

"How is it?" he asked. Naruki turned to him.

"It aches when I try to overdue myself." she murmured. Deidara gave her a sorry look. "So how was I?" she asked smiling.

"Good, you have some openings but you can cover them, hm." he said smirking. Naruki let a deep sigh of relief.

"That's good to hear." she said smiling. Deidara smiled too at his student but he was still curious about her.

"Naruki?" he said.

"What is it sensei?" she asked smiling.

"You have material for a great ninja, why are you trying to cover your true abilities, hm?" he asked. Her smiling face saddened and she turned her gaze away.

"What makes you think that? I just can't do things right. This is how I am." she murmured leaning her head down. Deidara stared at her and put his hand on her left shoulder.

"You can do things right, even better but you restrain yourself so you would look weak and clumsy." he said. "Why?" he asked.

Naruki startled at the contact and at his grip but didn't say anything. She thought about his question.

"Because I'm scared." she whispered. "I'm scared of hurting someone or even myself. I don't want to do that." she said. Deidara moved his hand and gripped her chin making her look up at him. He made a smile.

"You're too nice for this organisation, hm." he said while her cheeks turned red. "But listen to this: you can hurt someone only if you want to. That's the only way, hm." he said and let go of her chin. He felt somewhat guilty that he lied to her. There was an awkward silence between them until Naruki broke it.

"Dei-san, you know who you remember me of?" she asked smiling.

"Who?"

"My oldest brother. He always cared for me and taught me many things." she said. Deidara was surprised at the comparation but seeing her smiling face, he smiled too.

He put his hand in his pouch filled with clay then retrieved it. He clenched his fist and rose it in front of her. He opened it slightly and Naruki smiled at the sculpture of the little sparrow.

"Dei-san you always called me a sparrow." she laughed and Deidara let the bird fall in her hands. After he made a sign the bird started to move. She rose her hands and the bird started to fly around her. She smiled at the little sculpture.

Suddenly her smile broke and she turned to her left. She recognised the chakra signal and red traced her eyes. Deidara was confused but turned his head to his left as well and saw the source of her discomfort.

"Itachi." he said. The Uchiha walked towards them, his face emotionless. When he arrived in front of them, he didn't even acknowledge Naruki.

"Deidara, leader assigned a mission to you." he said and gave him a scroll. Deidara took it and sent Naruki a look, things would turn bad if he would leave her alone with Itachi. He knew what happened the last time when he did this mistake. Naruki gave Itachi a look filled with rage and clenched her fists until they became white. She despised him so much. Deidara nodded and got up on his feet while putting the scroll in his pocket.

"What about her, hm?" he asked looking at Naruki. Right then, Itachi moved his gaze at Naruki for the first time but just for a moment as he turned again to Deidara.

"She knows her way back." he said coldly. Naruki twitched and felt about starting a fight with him right then.

"I don't know it!" she yelled. He turned to her and gave her a stare.

"Then, find it on your own." he said and turned around. Naruki pouted and got red in the same time. How could he be so cold with everyone? Without a hesitation she grabbed the bird which was flying above her and after squeezing it, she threw it at him.

"Take this as a thank-you gift for offering me help!" she yelled. He was only a meter away and when he was about to gave her one more look, the bird landed on him and caused explosion. After the smoke cleared, Naruki saw that he had been sent a few meters away on his back. She rose her hands at her mouth, not believing what she just had done.

Deidara watched shocked the whole scene. He thought that he was imagining the whole thing. Naruki hit Itachi. That was odd. Itachi just got hurt by a girl which used his own clay sculpture.

"I suggest you should leave right now if you don't want to see him angry, hm. He'll try to kill you." Deidara said. Naruki gave him a scared look then seeing Itachi trying to get up she started to run.

"Sorry." she yelled and sped up her pace. Deidara watched as she disappeared from the sight then, smirking he went to his teammate and helped him get up. Itachi groaned and tried to straighten up, he had some cuts but these were minor.

"It seems that you're pretty injured, hm." Deidara said smirking. Itachi gave him one of his famous death glares.

"When I'll find her..." he murmured. Deidara grinned and helped him straighten up.

"...You're going to kill her, yeah. I'm sure of it." he said chuckling. But do you know something, hm?". Itachi didn't seem very interested in finding out but his teammate seemed eagerly to say.

"What?" he asked. Deidara's smile grew wider.

"She's only a girl now but when she'll get older... she'll be the only one who can defeat you, hm." he said and started to walk away.

Itachi stared at Deidara's back frowning. She was supposed to be the one who will do such a thing? He wanted to say that this was ridiculous and that she was only a weak little girl. She wasn't even capable of killing. But something, yes, something told him that this wasn't impossible. He thought about it and he found himself smirking. He remembered what happened earlier. Maybe she wasn't that weak after all. And maybe just maybe she will defeat him one day.
