Teamwork
Chapter 26: Teamwork
Taking on a genin team brought back memories, not only for Naruto who was team five’s sensei but also for the Uchiha as well as he lived beneath the same roof as the blond chatterbox.
Naruto and Sasuke ate breakfast together on the porch in the garden while they talked about the time nearly ten years ago as they were forced to take the bell test.
“Are you going to make them wait for four hours like Kakashi made us wait that morning nearly ten years ago?”
“No Teme… well not four hours anyway,” the blond chuckled as he sipped at his coffee. “But I have the intention to test their patience by making them wait an hour or two at the most.”
“Hn. You´re just as evil as Kakashi used to be,” Sasuke smirked at his lover.
“Oh he´s still the same. He´s never going to change,” Naruto grinned.
“So now that you´ve decided to bore the brats to death why don´t you make yourself useful and walk me to work and say hi to Takahiro before you’ll face your teams wrath Dobe?”
“Sure Sas´ke. I´d love too.”
“Then get your hot ass moving koi cause I don´t want to be late.”

Kaori had told the twins just how strong, hot and cool their cute sensei was and just how much she hated the Uchiha for treating her gorgeous Uzumaki-sama with disrespect from the moment they had been waiting no more than ten minutes.
Isamu rolled his mismatching eyes at the girl and pretended not to listen as the blue-haired girl explained how she much she wanted to kick the Uchiha´s ass…
´as if she even had the slightest chance to get anywhere near the former traitor,` Isamu thought.
Minoru ignored both and stared into the calm blue water which ran below the bridge they were supposed to meet with Naruto-san nearly two hours ago.
“Why is Naruto-sensei making us wait… what a Dobe,” Isamu growled. The nickname which the Uchiha had used yesterday seemed to be stuck in the redheads mind.
“What did you just say?” Kaori hissed at the redheaded twin.
“I said that Naruto-sensei is a Dobe because he´s making us wait. It´s been two hours already and I hate to wait… you hag.”
“…” the girl’s face turned crimson and for once she was utterly speechless. Isamu realized his mistake as the look in Kaori´s eyes burned with the promise of a lot of pain to anyone who dared to insult her adored sensei.
He saw the pissed look on her face and hurried of to hide behind his brother who just shook his head in annoyance.
“Minoru-kun, get out of my f***ing way or I´ll entrap you as well!” Kaori growled. Minoru let out a sigh and stepped out of the way, leaving his redheaded brother wide open to whatever move the angry girl was planning.
“Niisan! You Baka! you’re supposed to protect me no matter what,” Isamu whined.
“I´m not gonna get hurt because you can´t tell when to keep your big mouth shut,” the brown-haired twin said without sympathy as Isamu had brought this down on himself. It wasn´t like Minoru was going to let the crazy female hurt his brother for real… he just thought that Isamu could need a lesson or two about normal behavior.
As soon as Minoru was out of range, Kaori released her kekkei genkai; ´The Soulbinder` (A/N: Gomen… I didn´t have the time to come up with a cool Japanese name for it yet) and entrapped Isamu in what Kaori called ´The spellbinding circle of puppeteers`.
The younger redhead was suddenly surrounded by rose-colored peddles and something that smelled overly sweet to the teenage boy.
He nearly panicked as he realized that he had already lost the ability to move his arms and legs as the jutsu turned him into a living puppet. Kaori was the only one who would be able to control whoever was so unfortunate to be caught in her jutsu.
She might be young and inexperienced… and she wasn´t able to kill anyone with her bloodline yet (by paralyzing them till their breathing stopped) but she was able to control her victims’ bodies for anything between few minutes to a whole day.
The jutsu burned a shitload of chakra but thankfully her dad, who had the ´Soulbinder` kekkei genkai as Tsunade had called it, had married a woman who had a huge amount of chakra… which made it possible for the girl to use the bloodline better at her current age than her father ever would.
As she had successfully trapped Isamu she forced the redhead to jump up onto the frail realing as she wanted him to jump into the chill blue water below the bridge.
She was just about to make him jump as Naruto decided to show up.
“Morning kids did you sleep well?” The blond asked with a trademark smile that made the blue-haired girl blush. Naruto chuckled as he quickly realized what was going on.
“Say Kaori-chan would you mind to release Isamu-kun from your kekkei genkai so you can pass the test?”
“… But of course… anything y-you want Uzumaki-sensei,” the flustered girl said before she released the redhead from her bloodline’s control.
“This bloodline of yours is really something special,” Naruto praised her while he watched Isamu regain control of his body only to lose his balance and fall into the freezing water with a loud cry.
Naruto couldn´t help but to chuckle as the redheaded boy resurfaced, looking very much like a drowned mouse.
Kaori pointed angrily at Isamu and told the boy that he got what he deserved while Minoru used a Suiton no jutsu and created a pillar of water to raise his brother from the cold water.
“Alright kids. Let´s put your skills to the test shall we?” Naruto told them with a smirk that made the young team glare nervously at their sensei.

As expected, team five passed the bell test. Not because they actually got their hands on even a single bell… or even touched one, but because they were able to work together as a team.
Minoru surprised Naruto by taking the lead and with few precise words he ordered his teammates to lay traps for Naruto which he of course dodged but not without being proud of the three teen’s creative way of thinking.
Kaori even tried to capture her sensei with her pheromones but she lacked determination which saved the blond from ending up as the thirteen year old girl’s slave.
Naruto was relieved that the Kitsune had left a part of it´s keen senses behind as it was killed as it had helped him to smell the sweet fragrance lingering in the air before it could ensnare his mind… Sasuke would have kicked his ass for sure if he had ended up in the might of a hormonal girl who apparently had a crush on him.

Six months passed since then and team five were about as fed up with D rank missions as team seven had been all those years ago.
Sasuke was about to take the Chuunin exam and was looking forward to a higher pay though he had asked Tsunade and Emi if he could continue to work at the orphanage till he had passed the Jounin exam… they both agreed and so did the council as the Uchiha did a great job as a Taijutsu teacher. The council even allowed Sasuke to include weapons and D- and C- level jutsu in his tutoring...
Takahiro was a frequent visitor at the Uchiha mansion these days… so was team five. The raven-haired boy and the now thirteen year old twins were acting as if they were siblings and as if Naruto and Sasuke were family rather than their superior.
This had caused a few problems along the way as the kids began to act a bit too familiar towards the two adults… but nothing that Sasuke or Naruto couldn´t handle.
Naruto was more or less working as a stand in Hokage for Tsunade who seemed to have gone into hiding for nearly twenty-three hours a day. Shizune covered for her by saying that the Hokage wanted the Uzumaki heir to get acquainted with the daily routine of the job… which he indeed did.
Sasuke was helping Naruto with the paperwork as much as he could though the blond was perfectly suited for doing it by himself… the Uchiha just wanted his lover to get home before sunset once in a while. (A/N: Not that Naruto was slow but there was just so much to do… and Shizune was spending a lot of time with the rapidly aging Tsunade.)
Chouji and Ino were now happily married and Iruka and Kakashi were just waiting for Tsunade to appoint Naruto as the new Kage so they could finally set a date for their marriage.
Sakura had moved in with Sai and they were talking about having kids which reminded both Naruto and Sasuke that their line would end with them which made both of them feel a bit sad.
The day of Sasuke´s Chuunin exam.
“Oi Teme,” Naruto tugged at Sasuke´s sleeve before he had to enter his final battle before the finals.
“Hn?”
“If you make it to the finals and pass the exam I´ll grant you your wish from six months ago,” the blonde told the Uchiha.
“… My wish from six months ago?”
“Don´t tell me that you forgot about it ne?” Naruto pouted in fake annoyance.
“Enlighten me Usuratonkachi.” Sasuke asked.
“You asked me if I wanted to marry you after we’ve dated for a while… and I said I would if you still felt the same after six months.” Naruto whispered huskily into raven-black locks.
His face spilt in a wide grin as he felt Sasuke swallow hard as he obviously had forgotten all about that due to all the things that had happened in their lives in the past six months.
They had lived together and survived all the small… and big conflicts and fights they had had and had grown incredible attached not only to each other but also to the twins and little Takahiro.
The three boys were nearly living with them as Emi had allowed the boys to sleep at the Uchiha-Uzumaki household five nights a week. She had accepted this because the boys loved to spend time with the gay couple and because Naruto and Sasuke treated them as their own… and the three boys had decided to train with their surrogate parents every morning; Monday to Friday … which began at daybreak… long before the other children at the orphanage had to get up.
“You promise Dobe?”
“You bet… and tell you what Teme. If you win the whole thing I´ll force Baa-chan to let us adopt the kids. I won´t be able to train Minoru and Isamu much longer as Shizune told me this morning that Baa-can is going to retire next month.”
“Then you better go look for her koi as I´m definitely going to win it all. I know how much you care about the brats and I want to show everyone that your ass is mine.” The possessive Uchiha whispered into Naruto´s ear.
“As if you didn´t love the kids as your own already as well Teme.” Naruto chuckled as he ignored the glares from the other contestants as he kissed his Uchiha passionately.
“Dobe… cheer for me.” Sasuke said as he leaned his forehead against the blond´s.
“Always love. Win or lose… I´m here for you… always. I love you… and now go out there and kick some ass.” Naruto chuckled as he pinched the Uchiha´s ass before he left to take his seat next to Gaara and the other Kage as he already acted as a stand-in for Tsunade.
